A hiking trail in the Azores. (ARoxo/ Moment/Getty Images)

This is a hiking trail on one of Azores’s islands. These islands are the peaks of mountains whose bottoms are on the sea floor. Someone in Congress didn’t understand a similar concept when talking about another island. He was concerned that this island would capsize if it had too many people. Enjoy your weekend.

Been there, done that, on the Island of Terceira.

KoB

Welp, that Crown is still just sitting there, and has been for pert near 9 minutes now. I could climb the mountain and lay claim to it, but I won’t. God forbid someone get all mad about it, and/or think that the King Of Battle, The King of ______ has an untoward advantage when he makes a claim on the Coveted Title of ______ on the TAH Friday Weekend Open Thread. We’re now into nearly 11 minutes.

You gotta play to win.

Green Thumb

2nd!

A Proud Infidel®™

Top five and Honorary First once again.

((((OVER))))

KoB

Nope, ruling from the reigning King passes the Crown of FIRST on the TAH Friday Weekend Open Thread to you API, and it is not Honorary. You are the 1st Commenter to use the term FIRST in the comment. Took you long enough to get here. Got anything to snack on? Seegar? Class VI Supplies.

I defer to the Keeper of the Coveted Book of FIRST, The Supply Daddy Hisself for a final and back up ruling on my call.

A Proud Infidel®™

I awarded myself HONORARY First!

(((OVER)))

KoB

Don’t matter this time. You’ve awarded yourself HONORARY FIRST each time since the 1st FIRST. You are now The King of ‘weeds/weedettes for the next week. You are FIRST for realz. Officially FIRST with all of the duties and responsibilities there of. SUFFER! Now, here’s the deal. The Stranger and I want a Yuengling, SFC D needs a shot of Jameson, Slow Joe gotta have a Bud Lite, and Dave Hardin will be by looking for Sausage, gravy, and biscuits. ninja will take the House Wine (Sweet Iced Tea) and restock the Top Shelf Whiskeys as needed. Oh, and light my Seegar and get some Sasparilla for ChipNASA, he be along directly.

A Proud Infidel®™

That will have to wait until I finish finding my set of left-handed Metric Crescent Wrenches and a half gallon bottle of cable stretching oil!

TXNorsky

Don’t forget the roll of flight line and to see the commo guys for some night net.

Graybeard

Y’all forgot the relative bearing grease.

Darn thing is gonna seize up without it.

11B-Mailclerk

Would Reveille Oil work as a substitute?

26Limabeans

Commo guys gonna need a box of RY’s

A Proud Infidel®™

Gotta find the PRC E7 first!

SFC D

You called?

Green Thumb

Stretching Oil is a real thing.

Just ask the False Commander “Phony” Phil Monkress (CEO of All-Points Logistics).

I imagine is is standard issue down in Merritt Island…

Claw

Yes, it is:

NHSparky

I was at a beverage facility the other day when a patron was told they could not have a Labatt Blue because of border restrictions.

You’d think he was told his kids and wife died in a house fire.

Green Thumb

I helped some elderly neighbors this week fix / unclog their toilet.

The husband was trying to tell me that the toilet was old, falling apart, etc.

I told him he dropped way to much Phil Monkress in it probably needed to be replaced.

A Proud Infidel®™

Anyone remember this sphincter head? I remember him being featured on TAH.

Good.

How ’bout that idiot who commented that the JUDGE was the one in the wrong!!!! Crazy, man. And somebody seems to aree with him.

What a tosser.

I imagine that they lowered the flag to half staff at All-Points Logistics.

Phildo respects his own….

David

4th ish? 5th? just happened by…. have a great weekend.

Ex-PH2

Anyone temember David Hogg? A few months ago, he said he was going to start a pillow company (or something like that) and beat the “My Pillow” guy and put him out of business. Instead, as Dinesh D’Souza tells us, Hoggy-boi doesn’t have a pillow of any kind.

Ex-PH2

API, are you still watching trains roll by?

I’m seeing a lot of oil tanker cars on the freight lines now, because the XL Pipeline was shut down.

Just wondering if you’re noticing that, too.

The Stranger

Yeah, old Warren Buffett is getting a nice cut of that moolah since he owns BNSF railroad, which is getting a big chunk of that unit tank train traffic.

Devtun
A Proud Infidel®™

The Keystone XL pipeline wasn’t finished before Bi-dumb canceled it, thus the amount of crude oil transported by rail will stay about the same. There has already been a big reduction in frac sand being transported via rail with the current clown crew in charge’s war on domestic oil which makes it obvious that they’re in the pocket of foreign interests, namely OPEC.

Berliner

David Hogg’s only pillow experience is humping his own nightly before resting his head on same.

rgr769

I thought he spent most evenings biting his pillow when his boyfriend was going in dry.

TXNorsky

FIRST!?

TXNorsky

Anyone else notice that we always hear about Pres Biden saying “this and that’… but never really SEE him saying “this and that”?
With Pres Trump, there was always sound bytes and videos of him giving updates etc.
it really makes me wonder who is pulling the strings over at the WH.

rgr769

One thing is for certain, it isn’t Gropey Joe. Exhibit A is that video of him trying to put his pen back in his jacket inside pocket.

Hack Stone

Hack Stone would like to thank all of the Adorable Deplorables who sent birthday greetings to the Vice President of the proud but humble woman owned business that sells software to the federal government formerly located in Bethesda Maryland yesterday. It made his 65th Birthday most memorable, and a shout out to all who contributed to his gift, we were able to locate and purchase a replacement Mortal Coil for his Jaguar.

Unfortunately, the traditional birthday phone call from Phil Monkress never came.

A new category of Para-Military Phonies….
Stolen Valor Phony January 6 Capitol Fighters and Patriots.

Anyone else seeing this on the Book of Fake or the Terrain of Twit?

You know, the “I was there”,

obviously from others.

At least 2 locally claim to have been inside the Capitol,
but I am quite certain
IF the the FBI searched their phones and FakeBook accounts,
all they would find is the typical

Interesting times….. (As the Chinese like to wish us.)

Green Thumb

Kinda like David Hogg.

I was there, man! Yuu know, bro, like in the same town and all when it went down.

Graybeard

FIRST in the hearts and minds of my grandkids.

Was off w/2nd granddaughter (10 y.o.) getting some corrugated tin to fix her folks roof with – since it started leaking last rain.

Hard working young lady (no surprise) – had her leather gloves on and helped haul every sheet, load (and unload) it on the trailer, helped tie it down – the whole 9 yards.

Corn, green beans, tomatoes and squash showing in the garden now. Barring an Easter freeze, should make well.

Roses coming back from the freeze, too.

Y’all have a great weekend!

Graybeard

Run off to a jam session with some old band-mates. Sat in a fellow’s front yard and played “bluegrass” gospel for nearly 2 hours.

Man, we had FUN! We’ve missed doing that!

NHSparky

Not first, not last.

Had a mild (peak temp 100.1) the other day, yet even with a negative rona test, everyone freaking out.

Oy. Will be so glad when I’m told to suck it up and get my ass back to jobsite.

I’m right there with you Sparky. Headache and fever for about 36 hours, fever broke this morning. MRS D acting like I’m on death’s door.

Prolly face down (in) Kelli’s “Canyon”.

Best news of the week is that a certain BeNasTy wanna be pile it, is still maintaining his social distancing of minus 6 feet AGL.

MarineDad61

KoB,
I guess I can say this, since
Kelly’s Canyon was removed from that charity’s board.

1000 pennies = 40 quarters.
Thanks to Phony Alaska Bob scamming donors,
Kelly’s Canyon now holds a roll of quarters.
A quarters trick that, I’m sure,
went over well in Sturgis.

rgr769

Isn’t Bob supposed to be dead by now, since he was diagnosed with terminal cancer over two years ago, and supposedly only had a year left to live during the Sturgis ride?

A Proud Infidel®™

Uhhhmyeah, I kinda remember that myself now, fake cancer? Hmmmmm…

RGR 4-78

It’s a miracle!

President Dementia was distracted by the light wind going by his head making the same sound as somebody blowing on the top of an empty coke bottle.

This is the same guy who couldn’t remember the name of his recently appointed Secretary of Defense.

BTW, The main sign for stage 5 dementia, of the 7 stages, is the inability to remember major details such as the name of a close family member or a home address. Patients may become disoriented about the time and place, have trouble making decisions, and forget basic information about themselves, such as a telephone number or address.

Mason

Remember when the media made a big deal about Trump holding onto the handrail? I do. Crickets now.

I do think it’s funny the WH says it was the wind that knocked him over. He’s so frail that he was knocked over by the wind. Not once. Not twice. He was thrice knocked over by a stiff breeze. Talk about feeble.

Best part of the video are the military guys at the bottom of the stairs trying to decide if they should go pick up the president.

Nope, free issue on a DD Form 448.

I figure this is the appropriate place to ask-
Am I mistaken or did a certain squawking pigeon show up this past week?

I seriously asking if his absence was due to an inpatient stint. No, I am not mocking but I seriously question his stability and mental health.

Notice, I’m using my terms for that person and most certainly not using the name. Kinda like Beetlejuice, don’t want to summon here.

Yes’um, the spapos did show up on evening last. I ignored “it”. https://valorguardians.com/blog/?p=111525#comment-3360544

This is somewhat his MO. He goes comms silent for a little while, then comes in like a whirling dervish to stir the pot. He’s said in the past that even when he’s quiet he’s still checking in every day.

Commissioner Wretched

Good grief, an argument about being FIRST on the WOT? While I’ve seen those before (and have participated in more than a couple), I’ve never seen it happen because someone didn’t know they were FIRST. Regardless, congrats to API for his FIRSTness this week! In recognition, here’s the trivia column for this week – which, in all honesty, I was gonna post here anyway. Enjoy, friends! DID YOU KNOW…? Did a man once ride a balloon-powered lawn chair to 16,000 feet altitude? By Commissioner Wretched I received a note in the old e-mail bag the other day … Actually I get many notes, but this one causes me to comment. The writer asks, “What do you do to find all the trivial facts you put in the column?” Well, dear correspondent, I have several sources that I peruse on a regular basis for little factoids. Most are ones that I’ve used before – remember, this column is over four years old – and some are just inappropriate for the column, for one reason or another. But the new factoids that catch my eye are those I file for future reference. I research them, see what I can add to the basic factoids, and put them in the master data file, from which I write this silly stuff. If I am wrong about something, I am quickly corrected by many of you – and the correction appears in a future column. I told you, I lead a boring life. Now, it’s on to the trivia! Did you know … … that glossy coating on jellybeans and candy corn comes from something alive? Shellac, the confectionary coating, is derived from secretions extracted from a beetle. The Kerria lacca beetle, to be precise, or the “Lac” if you know them well enough. The secretion is a resin, collected then dried into flakes which are dissolved in alcohol to make the liquid shellac – which is applied to jellybeans and the like to give them that glossy coating everyone is looking for. (And suddenly, my taste for jellybeans disappeared.) … the Mongolian navy has… Read more »

CW, My Man! Another fine job! Them tree rats lubs them some telephone cable insulation too. Biggest source of that “sizzlin’ fryin’ pan” noise you hear on your land line is the water in the cable from them rat bastards chewing on the insulation. They really loved the old school lead encased cables from back yonder. They used lead cable to sharpen their teeth. One of the College Boy Engineers came up with his brilliant idea of placing a “squirrel guard” (an A Frame Tent shaped piece of plastic sheathing) in an attempt to protect the cables. All that did was give the bastards a nice dry place to build a nest and use the insulation as a food source. Many a line constuction or facilities tech made damn good OT money fixin’ those troubles. Good Times. Ma Bell spent a bloody fortune on installing that crap and another bigger fortune takin’ it off and disposing of it in an environmentally correct manner. (It was recycled at great expense)

As you may have noticed, the Crown sat there for a good long time. AW1 Rod coulda, shoulda, had oughta laid claim, he probably kicked hisself. I wasn’t gonna touch it with a ten foot pole, even if it sat there all evening without a FIRST indicated. thebesig gettin’ more sneaky with his time drops for the WOT. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I keep the TAH Home page open in another window while surfin’ the inherwebz for FGS, DCN, and other tidbits. Main reason I’m close by when new content drops. Hell, might as well, I got nothin’ better to do. (ht to Josey Wales)

An Australian movie made loosely based on the ‘balloon chair’ was “Danny Deckchair”. Thys Ifans (the place licker in “The Replacements”) starred. I’ve seen worse.

You would be surprised at how many people will ask you why you are not spraying water on a 2000 volt squirrel flare. The same person will look at you like you have a d!#k growing out of your forehead when you reply, “you want me to spray water on what?”

Graybeard

I wouldn’t be surprised at all, RGR 4-78.

I’ve seen too many idiots – and wondered how on God’s green earth they lived as long as they had.

I was busy liberating a decent amount of Freedom Seeds from their confinement.
Now, I’m no Pro, AND I’ve only been back behind the stock and muzzle for like, 3 months AND in that time, I’ve acquired a nice garden.
Again, be gentle and one of the “Odd” spots in the garden came from a neighbor who planted his seed in my area, because he was aiming at a much closer range than I, and I was much further away, therefore the errent hole from triangulation.

Chevy Chase doesn’t have a hair on his a$$ if he won’t play the Xiden skit on SNL.

A Proud Infidel®™

Chevy Chase is a proglodyte liberal, thus I’m sure that he’ll never spoof a D-rat, especially one as deserving as Bi-dumb.

Poetrooper

He’s being prepped for the inevitable…

rgr769

Don’t you mean the “fake Fuhrer?” Cuz Gropey couldn’t lead a horse to water.

The Other Whitey

Closing escrow first week of April. Not excited to be moving to Yuma, but it’s what we have to do. I will forever despise the fuckers who made my home financially untenable. I will not, however, be the slightest bit sad to no longer be under the yoke of Sacramento and the corruptocrats who infest it.

RGR 4-78

Glad you got out of Cali, your family is better off for it.

11B-Mailclerk

Welcome to America.

Graybeard

Yes, welcome back to America.

Poetrooper

Whitey, are you completely out of California or will you still be working there?

The Other Whitey

Still working here. I rather doubt I’ll find any decently-paying fire department that will let me lateral over at the rank of captain, and my knees have a bit too much mileage on them to make it through another academy. I’m 13 years from retirement, and probably the youngest guy in my department who can still retire at 50; guys and gals hired just a year or two after I was have to wait til 55, and they’re threatening 57. I just pray CalPers hasn’t gone bankrupt by the time I put my papers in.

On the flip side, my salary, on which we barely scrape by every month despite working shitloads of OT (most weeks I’m only home 1 or 2 days—24hr days, mind you, I don’t get to go home at 5:00), goes a lot farther across the state line. And when I say farther, I mean my base pay without OT will pay for a house in Yuma twice the size of the one we’re selling, at less than half the monthly mortgage payment. Factor in how much cheaper gas and utilities are once you’re out of California, and I pretty much won’t have to work a day of voluntary overtime again. Arizona gun laws are also a nice bonus.

11B-Mailclerk

Start shoving the difference into good investments, max the tax-advantaged ones. Even 10-15 years can accumulate quite a chunk.

Have a plan B on the job, because Calizuela will see you a a goose to cook as a non-voting worker. Hmm. Maybe learn fluent Spanish, add an accent, and stay tanned. (Just kidding)

Keep looking. You want that donk-divorce to be finalized.

Somewhat of an interesting case dealing with military records decided by the Fourth Circuit.

According to “Short Circuit:”

The Defense Department is supposed to post certain military discharge records online with personal information redacted. But—whoops—lots of information wasn’t redacted. So in 2019 DoD temporarily yanked all 245,000 records while it figured out how to do the redactions, even though the records are supposed to be public. Fourth Circuit: No suing about that. There’s no such thing as a challenge to general agency mismanagement. (As of March 1, about 189,000 records are back up.)

The records are decisions rendered by the Discharge Review Boards and Boards for Correction of Military/Naval
Records.

The action was initiated by the “National Veterans Legal Services Program(“NVLSP”), a nonprofit organization that assists veterans to correct military records in order to secure benefits.”

These may get lost here in the WOT, but two recent articles worth a read.

Sleepy Creepy Joe mocked Trumps slow careful walk down a ramp at West Point. As Biteme’s former boss, JEF, once said ‘Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to F**k things up’.

rgr769

Trump was walking carefully down the ramp because it was slippery and he was wearing shoes that had leather soles. If you watch the videio carefully, you can see that Gen. Milley is also making an effort not to slip and bust his ass.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

When Trump walked down the ramp, the lame stream media had a field day saying that something was physically wrong with him. This was mentioned last night on NewsMax who showed the various left media outlets saying this, but of course Der Fuhrer got a free pass on his falling/tripping 3 times going up the stairs to the aircraft.

Sapper3307

Is this why the VP has kneepads at the ready?
Possibly in the FootBall bag?

OWB

Why was he jumping up the stairs? It’s no wonder he missed a step or two, or three. Looked like he was trying to run up the stairs without actually being able to do it.

Hey, Joe! You aren’t a teenager. Try walking up the stairs next time.

11B-Mailclerk

Biden keeps referring to “President Harris.”

What if that is not a mistake?

Has he resigned, or been 25th, but they haven’t announced it? He is kept on as a figurehead, with his cooperation, to keep the rubes from wiseing up and spoiling the next steps in the works.

Bad movie plot, yes. But he does tend to blurt out painful or unintended truths, occasionally.

That also explains Harris taking certain calls. Also, Putin’s dare and China’s antics at the Alaska meet.

Also, the fence.

Just trying to make conversation in an attempt to make it to 100 comments on the WOT.

Learned something new yesterday when I read in my print version of the VFW Magazine that Biden’s pick for Secretary of the Veterans Administration never spent a day in uniform.

Was this common knowledge or am I just behind the times?
