Good Samaritan comes to the rescue to stop two attempted carjackings in Marietta

COBB COUNTY, GA — A Cobb County man stepped in to stop a pair of carjackings in Marietta earlier this week in the intersection of Delk Road and Franklin Gateway.

66-year-old Gary Edwards and his wife Anna were leaving the Cracker Barrell on Delk Road Monday evening when they heard a woman screaming at a gas station across the street and saw a man trying to carjack her.

“I ran out, basically tackle the guy and knock him down. There’s a little scuffle there. He starts running back towards Delk Road.”

Police say the suspect, 32-year-old Rico Riley, then tried to carjack a family at the intersection, but Edwards, now armed with his wife’s gun, stops him.

“I draw the gun on him. Tell him to step away from the car and get down. I yell out, ‘hey get off of her and start running,” Edwards said.

Edwards held Riley at gunpoint until police officers arrived.

BZ Mr. Edwards, but did you leave your own gun in another pair of pants and so had to borrow the wife’s?

Trash is everywhere these days. Carry your own street sweeper so you don’t have to rely on borrowing someone else’s…or rely on someone having to come to your rescue.

Freedom isn’t dead yet, but it is on life support. Prepare

Interesting little piece on that Whitney, was not familiar with it. Maybe they shoulda made a space looking weapon that had an “Earth Shattering” KA-BOOM?

That grip angle is … extreme. Lost credibility for me when the author said Colt was introducing their . 22 pistol in the early ’50s- the Colt Woodsman came out before we joined WWI.

Yeah, I scratched my head over that too.

Back in the day when I was a kid, I had a Dick tracy lithographed metal gun that shot out sparks when the trigger was pulled. I remember that most every toy back then was made out of metal with the litho drawings on them.

Your toy gun probably still works today.
Unlike today’s overpriced plastic junk that breaks in a few months

I should have saved all those metal toys like a lot of people saved the stuff that they grew up with

I bought the kids cheapo laser tag guns about 15 years ago. I sold them at a yard sale a few weeks ago and they still worked.

That is one of the less nice areas in Cobb county, right off interstate 75. I go by there on my commute 5 days a week, unless I’m going to Dobbins AFB I don’t usually go there. It has gotten a lot of the overflow from dragging the stadium out to Cobb county.
