FAA Grounds Fox Drones

Del Rio International Bridge

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) instituted flight restrictions over Del Rio, Texas, on Thursday afternoon, preventing Fox News from operating a drone it had been using to video the thousands of migrants seeking shelter under a bridge as they wait to be picked up by Border Patrol.

The FAA’s website said the temporary flight restriction (TFR) over the Del Rio Port of Entry and the International Bridge was put in place for “special security reasons.”

FAA Grounds Drones at Texas Border Bridge Migrant Camp

DEL RIO, Texas — Citing “special security reasons,” the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) forbidding any drone flights over and around the Del Rio International Bridge. The ruling prohibits news coverage of the area where more than 11,000 mostly Haitian migrants are being held in a makeshift camp under the bridge.

The NOTAM is in effect until September 30 and prevents any drone flights 1,000 feet or fewer from the area. The notice warns operators of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) may face consequences for violating the order. The FAA warns operators who do not comply with applicable airspace restrictions that the Department of Defense or Department of Homeland Security may take security actions which could result in the interference, disruption, seizure, damaging, or destruction of the unmanned aircraft.

The FAA issued a statement regarding the UAS flight restriction:

The Border Patrol requested the temporary flight restriction due to drones interfering with law enforcement flights on the border. As with any temporary flight restriction, media is able to call the FAA to make requests to operate in the area.

The video of thousands of illegal aliens waiting to cross the border to points unknown has nothing to do with the TFR.

No, really.

“Fox News Cleared To Fly After Biden FAA Temporarily Bans Drones Over Bridge Packed With Illegal Immigrants”

    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/bidens-faa-places-temporary-ban-on-drones-flying-over-bridge-packed-with-illegal-immigrants

“The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Thursday night initially placed a two-week flight restriction along a bridge at the Texas-Mexico border inundated with thousands of illegal immigrants, which prevented reporters from flying drones to document the crisis – but Fox News regained clearance the next day.”

“We’ve learned that the FAA just implemented a two week TFR (Temporary Flight Restrictions) over the international bridge in Del Rio, TX, meaning we can no longer fly our FOX drone over it to show images of the thousands of migrants. FAA says ‘special security reason,’” Fox News reporter Bill Melugin tweeted Thursday evening.”

“By Friday afternoon, the FAA announced that Fox News again could fly its drones in the area for the rest of the month.”

Uh huh……suuuuure….don’t want to make this administration look bad, now do “we”?

With it being locked down and uber secure like that I can see why they would want to secure a no fly zone.

The border is starting to look like every form of rif raf is showing up and we can’t have the American people see that can we. Why are Haitians showing up at the border instead of Miami?

They’ve been patiently loitering in Mexico, knowing that eventually, Joe would let them in. They get sent back if they sail to Florida.

If xenophobia wasn’t real, I wouldn’t be laughing at the stupid comments on here, nor why the same group of people who wanted Afghanistan to be over are now mad, and why TF those same people are against bringing in all the terms and personnel who helped us over there?

Welcome, Jose. Read the FNG link at the top.

You seem to not be reading comments closely here. The majority of our readers were in favor of leaving Afghanistan. They are upset about the way in which that was conducted.

I’ve never once seen or heard anyone at this site speak out against bringing Afghan terps (I assume that’s an autocorrect failure when you say “terms”) and their families. In fact, that’s a big reason why people around these parts are upset with the way Biden conducted the A-stan pullout.

TX Gov, Greg Abbott, tried to shut down the points of entry, but was told by DHS to stand down.

White House & DHS ignoring the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy that a TX Federal judge & U.S. Supreme Court ruled should be reimplemented.

Dems are trying to jam through amnesty bill in the $3.5T reconciliation package. Manchin & Sinema really are only obstacles to the package.

But Biden’s drones kill innocent people?

  8. Old tanker says:

Does that also restrict the military from using their drones with hellfires as well? After all they have such a good recent record of droning innocent folks and kids……. Just saying….
