Oklahoma woman wanted for deadly shooting arrested after commenting on police Facebook post

An Oklahoma woman is behind bars after posting on a local police department’s Facebook page about warrants for her arrest.

Each week, the Tulsa Police Department makes a Facebook post about their ‘Most Wanted’ fugitive of the week.

On Wednesday, authorities posted that Lorraine Graves was wanted in connection to the murder of Eric Graves.

Eric Graves was shot and killed at the St. Thomas Square Apartments earlier this year.

Detectives arrested Jayden Hopson and Gabriel Hopson for the murder, but they were still searching for Lorraine Graves, who was charged with accessory to murder.

After making the Facebook post, Graves responded by commenting, “What’s where’s the reward money at,” on the post.

On Thursday afternoon, detectives arrested Graves in north Tulsa near 36th St. N. and Garrison Ave.

Her bond has been set at $500,000.

No-show St. Louis prosecutors trigger dismissal of 2020 murder case

This isn’t a one-off thing either. Google “St Louis murder charges dropped” and you’ll see a trend.

A circuit judge dismissed a 2020 murder case last week and said the Circuit Attorney’s Office “abandoned its duty” after St. Louis prosecutors failed three times to show for court hearings or respond to a court order to produce evidence.

Circuit Judge Jason Sengheiser on Wednesday dismissed first-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful gun possession charges against Brandon Campbell, 30, after no one from the Circuit Attorney’s Office showed up for scheduled hearings in May, June and July.

“The court does not take this action without significant consideration for the implications it may have for public safety,” Sengheiser wrote in his order. “Although presumed innocent, (Campbell) has been charged with the most serious of crimes. While the court has a role to play in protecting public safety, that role must be balanced with adherence to the law and the protection of the rights of the defendant.”

Sengheiser continued, “The Circuit Attorney’s Office is ultimately the party responsible for protecting public safety by charging and then prosecuting those it believes commit crimes. In a case like this where the Circuit Attorney’s office has essentially abandoned its duty to prosecute those it charges with crimes, the court must impartially enforce the law and any resultant threat to public safety is the responsibility of the Circuit Attorney’s Office.”

A spokeswoman for Kimberly M. Gardner provided a statement Monday saying “Upon review of our internal policies and procedures regarding family medical leave, we have determined that corrective measures are needed to further prevent any future repeat occurrence of the incident in question. The suggestion, however, that there have been additional instances that have occurred like the one in question have not been substantiated.”

Gardner’s statement continued, “Be assured that as the Circuit Attorney of the City of St. Louis, I am accountable to the public for the actions of the office and remain committed as ever to upholding the highest possible standards and practices of accountability at all levels of this office, particularly the public safety of the residents of the city of St. Louis. As a result, the individual in this case is (in) custody.”

Police said Monday that Campbell was still at large.

Campbell was charged in December with fatally shooting 30-year-old Randy Moore on April 9, 2020, in the 3700 block of Aldine Avenue. Moore, who lived in the 11000 block of Bellefontaine Road in north St. Louis County, was pronounced dead at a hospital. Charges said surveillance video showed Campbell arrive in a Chrysler 300 and have an argument with Moore before shooting Moore as Moore walked away.

The judge said Campbell’s public defender filed a motion on May 17 to compel the Circuit Attorney’s Office to produce evidence in the case. At that time, the prosecutor who had Campbell’s case had begun maternity leave, and no one else from the Circuit Attorney’s Office had been assigned to it.

Campbell’s lawyer moved to dismiss the case June 30 “for willful violations of the rules of discovery.” A hearing was scheduled for Monday, but again no prosecutor showed despite the court’s confirming that the Circuit Attorney’s Office received notice of the hearing six days earlier.

Campbell is represented by an assistant public defender, who emailed Circuit Attorney Kimberly M. Gardner directly May 28 asking whom to contact about Campbell’s case.

Campbell’s lawyer said Gardner never replied.

Matthew Mahaffey, chief public defender in St. Louis, said the way the Circuit Attorney’s Office has handled Campbell’s case “encapsulates a lot of the discovery issues we’re seeing and the challenges we’re seeing in getting cases to proceed with the full amount of information that our clients are deserving of. We’re not getting what we need from the Circuit Attorney’s Office.”

On Thursday, a day after Sengheiser dismissed Campbell’s case, a prosecutor with the Circuit Attorney’s Office refiled charges. A judge ordered Campbell held without bail on the newly filed charges.

Campbell fled to Arizona after the shooting and then to Texas, the documents say. He was arrested in Texas by U.S. Marshals.

He has previous federal and state convictions for illegal gun possession, drug possession and stealing.

This is the same St Louis County prosecutor who secured convictions on the two rich, white lawyers who armed themselves against a mob last year. She’s got priorities and black lives ain’t one of them.

It looks like the game the St Louis prosecutors are playing that they aren’t ready for trial (mostly due to the insufferable work environment Gardner has created) they dismiss the charges and immediately refile them to start the trial clock anew. I’m no defense lawyer, but that seems like it creates some issues with due process and the right to a speedy trial. I imagine there will be some bad case law coming from this.

Firefighters Say ‘Embarrassed’ Racoon Has Nothing To Be Ashamed Of

Firefighters have assured an embarrassed-looking racoon that it has nothing to be ashamed of after it broke into a house in Georgia.

It’s never fun getting caught red-handed doing something you shouldn’t, and the racoon in this particular situation knows that all too well after breaking into the home in Dalton, about 90 miles north of Atlanta, presumably in the search of snacks.

The creature succeeded in its mission to get inside the home, but the City of Dalton Fire Department was called to the scene when the homeowners realised it hadn’t been able to find its way back out.

In a post shared on Facebook on Wednesday, the fire department explained the situation proved ‘You never know what the day is going to hold when you show up for your shift as a firefighter.’

It continued: ‘Sure, there may be the occasional cat needing to be rescued from a tree, but a raccoon? That’s a new one.’

After helping the racoon out of the home, the department shared a picture of it with its paw covering its eyes, as if it were too embarrassed to let people see its face after the unfortunate blunder.

Still, firefighters showed they were on the animal’s side as they wrote: ‘As you can tell, he was pretty embarrassed about it, but it’s really nothing to be ashamed of. We all need a helping hand every now and then.’

The racoon has since been safely released back into the wild, hopefully having learned that it needs to plan some escape routes before taking on any more adventures.

Fish Species Getting New Name to Combat Racism Concerns — and Make It More Appetizing

Minnesota state Sen. Foung Hawj was never a fan of the “Asian carp” label commonly applied to four imported fish species that are wreaking havoc in the U.S. heartland, infesting numerous rivers and bearing down on the Great Lakes.

But the last straw came when an Asian business delegation arriving at the Minneapolis airport encountered a sign reading “Kill Asian Carp.” It was a well-intentioned plea to prevent the spread of the invasive fish. But the message was off-putting to the visitors.

Hawj and fellow Sen. John Hoffman in 2014 won approval of a measure requiring that Minnesota agencies refer to the fish as “invasive carp,” despite backlash from the late radio commentator Rush Limbaugh, who ridiculed it as political correctness.

“I had more hate mail than you could shake a stick at,” Hoffman said.

Now some other government agencies are taking the same step in the wake of anti-Asian hate crimes that surged during the coronavirus pandemic. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service quietly changed its designation to “invasive carp” in April.

“We wanted to move away from any terms that cast Asian culture and people in a negative light,” said Charlie Wooley, director of its Great Lakes regional office.

The Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee, representing agencies in the U.S. and Canada that are trying to contain the carp, will do likewise Aug. 2, he said.

The moves come as other wildlife organizations consider revising names that some consider offensive, including the Entomological Society of America, which this month dropped “gypsy moth” and “gypsy ant” from its insect list.

Yet the switch to “invasive carp” might not be the final say. As experts and policymakers have learned in their long struggle against the prolific and wily fish, almost nothing about them is simple. Scientists, technical journals, government agencies, language style guides, restaurants and grocery stores may have ideas about what to call them, based on differing motives — including getting more people to eat the critters.

I think they should commission Gordon Ramsay to come up with a name. Something more worldly and foodie like the most amazing “Illinois Seabass”. Charge $75 a plate for it and next thing you know, that fish of an Asian persuasion will be extinct.

So graves is now in the graveyard among the other graves. was he related to everyone in the graveyard. Has to be since he has the same names as the other graves. I guess one way to check it out is to look at the engrave ing on the head stones.

KoB

Gravely, in all gravity Jeff, Graves (Eric) was assisted into the grave, by Graves (Lorraine, nothing sweet about that Lorraine), and her cohorts. You can now check the Demonrat Voter rolls and find Mr. Graves listed.

IIRC that St Lo prosecutor used some Soros bucks to get elected. Let’s see if I got this right. You can be persecuted (sic) in St Lo for defending your home, but get a free pass for FIRST (ht 2 Roh-Dog) Degree Murder? M’kay.

Riddle me this Batman. Did the Racoon get to some snacky stuff before he was caught? He musta not had his Bat Flu shot yet, I see he is still wearing his mask.

Never saw any kind of carp that was fit to eat, don’t care how Mr. Ramsay cooks it or what he calls it. Before the Bat Flu was imported we had the carp…before that we had the kudzu. Anybody else see a trend here? What did Fang Fang know and when did she know it?

skate

these sound like some pretty grave accusations…

Bill R.

Those Asian Carp are going to wipe out sport fishing in the Great Lakes.

Tell folk they taste good…

Hatchet

Oh, the trials and travails of being a Trash-panda… And Bill R is not wrong – these days, the very reference of ‘Asian Carp’ is considered to be cuss-word in the lexicon of our Canadian Ministry of Natural Resources.. And for the life of me, simply cannot imagine Gordon Ramsay turning an oversized goldfish into any kind of gourmet meal. Given the choice between this or that, I’d rather be relegated to eating nothing but anchovies for the rest of my days..

RGR 4-78

“And for the life of me, simply cannot imagine Gordon Ramsay turning an oversized goldfish into any kind of gourmet meal.”

When I was a kid Dad would take the carp we netted and slow cook them guts and all in 7 gallon steel paint buckets. Once done, you chopped them up with a boat paddle and dumped them into the hog trough, thereby converting them into bacon.

Hate_me

Challenge accepted.

I’m gonna catch me an Asian carp and turn it into an haute cuisine staple. I had an Iraqi Arabic teacher who taught me an incredible recipe for garlic carp, and I’m certain I can adapt it.

If Ex is nice, I might even share the recipe.

Roh-Dog

Anything is edible with enough garlic and/or hot sauce.
And I said ‘anything’.
Besides, after Cobra Gold and the cuisine tour of Thailand I’m sure anyone that partook in the street food is immune to a lil ol’ Asian carp.
That and NYC hotdogs….
(Waiting for that colon cancer diagnosis and the Doctor’s face when I get to tell him, “about damn time!”)

Hack Stone

It must be great in Minnesota that the only problem that politicians have to deal with is renaming big an invasive species of fish. #FishLivesMatter!

MCPO USN

Maybe they can rename their governor and it will be less invasive….

And rename the State Rep John Thompson into a Wisconsin citizen…

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

Now I’m really hooked on all these fish stories and i’ll bet a fin that this isn’t the end of changing names of everything these shit birds think are offensive. They are to young to remember groups like the Orioles, Robbins, Ravens, swallows etc, so I guess us 1950’s Vocal group harmony (now called doowopp) lovers are safe for now.

skate

that state senate has oh-fish-ialy gone off the pier and into the deep end. cod you think of anything more pressing for a taxpayer-funded legislatures to deal with???

fun fact: ever seen finding nemo? it was originally called the Mn. Assembly and State Senate (MINE-ASS) fish before it was more appropriately re-named the clown fish. if you think i’m squidding, think again

Senate wants wimmen to register for the draft, too. Fair’s fair.

They should change the name of asian carp. I am all for it. They should be called illegal alien carp.
