Update on USMC Maj. Gen. Neary, MARFOREUR/AF commander
We talked about General Neary when the story first broke about his alleged use of a racial slur. We now have a bit more on the topic amid news that the Commandant of the Marine Corps has relieved Maj Gen Neary from his command of US Marine Forces Europe and Africa. He’d only been in the billet since 8 July.
The general is under investigation for alleged use of a racial slur during physical training outside the Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa headquarters in Böblingen, Germany, Stars and Stripes first reported.
Neary allegedly asked junior Marines how they felt about the N-word while they were conducting physical training with rap music using the word on in the background, “which prompted Neary to ask the junior Marines how they would feel if he said it,” and then said it, a lance corporal present told Stripes.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, Capt. Joseph Butterfield told Marine Corps Times Tuesday.
Boneheaded to actually use the word? Yeah, absolutely. Even dumber to try to challenge the preconceived conceptions of your young Marines on the topic of race relations?
Critical thinking is overrated in 2020.
Thanks to Jeff LPH 3 for the story tip.

If folks want to end the use of a word, don’t use it.
If you throw a word around like Doritos at a bong festival, don’t expect use to cease.
I respectfully disagree.
One of the therapies for porn addiction is to
flood the person with it until it becomes boring.
If the “word” were plastered on billboards and in every
radio and tv commercial it would become boring and fade away.
Give it new meaning. Make a breakfast cereal out of it.
Name your kids after it. Wash it out and bleach it until
nobody remembers the origin.
Isn’t that what do with history nowadays?
Clockwork Orange???
Thank You, Mason and Jeff for the update…

“The incident occurred in August on the parade field outside Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa headquarters in Boeblingen, Germany.”
“A lance corporal who was present told Stars and Stripes that Neary used the N-word while Marines were doing physical training outdoors with loud music playing.”
“Some of the rap music incorporated the word, which prompted Neary to ask the junior Marines how they would feel if he said it, the lance corporal said.”
“The Marine, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution, said Black, white and Latino Marines were jolted when the general said the word.”
“Even if Neary was attempting to be instructive about the taboo nature of the word, it came as a shock to hear it from a white general officer, the lance corporal said.”
“He lost respect right there,” the Marine said.”
I just lost respect for that pussy who calls himself a Lance Corporal..
Seriously.
What has the Corps devolved to?
This whole incident stinks of selective outrage.
“He lost respect right there”, Private Pussy said. (there FIFY)
And Private Pussy probably never had respect for Gen Neary to begin with.
Obviously, Private Pussy wasn’t “smoked” enough by his Drills during Basic.
Yes.
True, but at the same time, use of that word by any Caucasian, regardless of context, is never going to fly.
Doubly so in the case of a Marine GO.
So how exactly did he “and then he said it” use it in a sentence?
Did he repeat a lyric from the “song”?
Did he say “What’s up Ni@@a’?” to the young Marines?
Did he say “why don’t y’all Ni@@a’s go fetch me some water, I’m getting a bit parched!”
Did he say “Do you feel I am being ni@@ardly with my presenting of Challenge coins?”
Most would show ignorance of the listener, in being offended, only one should cause offense!
Too many people misunderstand the word “niggard” — and I see that *you* do understand …
For those who do not know, niggard; niggardlyabsolutely NOWT to do with the epithet. Different etymology.
Niggardly: Niggardly (noun: niggard) is an adjective meaning “stingy” or “miserly”. It is derived from the Middle English word nigard, which is probably derived from Old Norse nigla, meaning “to be poor”, which itself is most likely derived from hnøggr (“stingy”). The word niggle, which in modern usage means to give excessive attention to minor details, probably shares an etymology with niggardly.
=======FULL STOP !!!! =======
******, a racial epithet in English, derives from the Spanish/Portuguese word negro, meaning “black”, and the French word nègre. Both negro and noir (and therefore also nègre and ******) ultimately come from nigrum, the accusative case singular masculine and neuter form of the Latin masculine adjective niger, meaning “black” or “dark”. Its first recorded use dates to 1574, and its first recorded derogatory use to 1775.

The Marines do PT to Rap Music?
The Rap Song contained the “N” word while they exercise to the Rap Music?
What Am I Missing?
Junior and Senior NCO leadership.
BINGO!!!
“Were jolted”… most former Marines I know (or am related to) use far saltier language on a routine basis. But I digress- now I get the joy of asking them just how pussified the current Corps has become (while running for cover. I may be a wiseass but I’m not stupid.)
Maybe they wanted a new “stress card” like the Army issues its recruits at Basic training! (or so I have heard)
We need a department of speech.
I nominate Robert Reich. Former sec of labor and communist midget.
My prior comments:
Damn.
The USMC just canned a solid Marine.
Seems to me that many of the younger Marines were a bunch of bitches.
They can play their rap music that uses the word, but when called out, cry.
I hated barracks lawyer bitches, It is one thing to used the word with intent. Another as a training tool which seemed to maybe be warranted.
I guess the bigger question is where was the Senior NCO leadership housing up the Marines using offensive music and language?
In this instance, I object to the use of the term ‘bitches’, as it is not only inappropriate, it is the wrong terminology.
In fact, the correct term is ‘spoiled brats’, and if one wishes to use a pejorative that emphasizes the adjective “spoiled”, then the use of “terminally brain-dead, inconceivably imbecilic, and/or “fookin’ mindless spoiled rotten sleazoid brats’ is appropriate and to the pint.
I did take into account that the majority of lower-level people who are currently employed in business or in the military have vocabularies that would fill one side of one standard page in a printed dictionary when I wrote that opinion.
🙂
Point taken.
“Pint”? Or, in Pvt Pussy’s case, half pint?
This is why we removed the bad names crayons.
I miss titty nipple pink. It was my favorite.
Indian Red was nice.
and an unsuspecting victim.

I do not understand. The General asked an honest question, based on music he heard in a public place, which should NOT have been playing to start with. Then some dickhead uses their minority privilege to get a good man canned.
In my opinion, any service person using the N-word or any racial slur in ANY context to ANYONE, same race or not, should stand tall before the man. Article 15 at the minimum and preferable a court-martial and ruined careers as has happened to this man. All music using any racial slur should be banned from all facilities. This shit of “good for me but not for thee” is plain and simple PC horseshit.
A man who has given more in his life to the service of our country than every swinging dick who was in that PT formation combined now has an irremovable stain on his record and the rest of his life.
BLM has been making a point of plastering BLM bullshit all over everything in sight. It has been painted all over the pavement in front of state houses. Nothing that doesn’t pertain to traffic safety should ever be painted on any public hyway.
Kaneohe Bay circa 1988. Black to the future, Black is Beautiful, Black by popular demand. …… T-shirts everywhere. Young Cpl M and his buddies write on white t-shirts, White is Right. Then proceed to PT. A LtCol stops us in his civies and proceeds to take all our rank name and command info. The next Monday we were called to the old mans office. The Col and the SgtMaj did not look amused. The LtCol was there. We were asked to explain ourselves. Me being the mouthy one asked if the LtCol pulled over any black Marines PTing in the afore mentioned T-Shirts. They even sold them in the PX. There was an uneasy silence, the heavys just kind of looked at each other and we were dismissed. A week later a decree came down that any race based shirts etc were band in our command and it moved onto the base as a whole. We never heard another word from our superiors. This crap has been going on a long time.
Well played.
I look at this article, and then I think of the late great Al Johnson, that bust-a-hump Marine from “Aliens”, and I wonder who the REAL Marine is, ’cause it ain’t this wetnosed LCPL snitch.
He just screwed his own pooch, y’know.
Punk azz punks gonna punk.
The pendulum done swung way yonder too far when a group of punk azz punks can destroy the career of a fine officer. Let’s hope that these punk azz punks decide that being a Marine is not for them and get out…SOON! Sadly, the way the SJW are pushing the Military, the punk azz punks will be promoted and be put in charge of turning other punk azz punks into the same kinda punk azz punks that they are.
In the context provided, it sounds to me like much ado about nothing.
^This^
Ditto. But evidence progtardism has infected the upper ranks of the Corps, likely due to eight years of the 0bama Regime.
The Corps lost a great commander to a couple of bitches, but somehow I think that 12 grand a month retirement check he is about to start pulling will soothe that burn some.
Question: Does the USMC have Masons like the Army?
What is a Mason?
An old fraternal society.
But in the Army, it took a different connotation.
*Raises hand*
A self inflicted wound.
“The remedy for offensive speech is more speech”
or something like that said by someone famous.
