Mueller report shows probe did not find collusion evidence

| April 18, 2019

Attorney General William Barr

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report was released to Washington’s swamp today, showing investigators did not find evidence of collusion between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russia. However, a series of controversial actions by the president were examined as part of the investigation’s separate obstruction inquiry.

Mueller ultimately could not reach a decision whether Trump’s conduct amounted to obstruction, his statement: “While this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.” is ambiguous at best.

The Democrats are hyperventilating over the report, and are demanding Attorney General William Barr and Mueller testify before Congress.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) issued this statement:

“Attorney General [William] Barr’s regrettably partisan handling of the Mueller report, including his slanted March 24th summary letter, his irresponsible testimony before Congress last week, and his indefensible plan to spin the report in a press conference later this morning — hours before he allows the public or Congress to see it — have resulted in a crisis of confidence in his independence and impartiality,” the statement said.

Democrats and the media pushed the narrative that Attorney General Barr was somehow trying to set up a narrative for the report’s release by holding a press conference ahead of time.

They also have authorized a subpoena for the full, unredacted report. Not appeased at this, Rep. Madeleine Dean, a Democratic member of the House Judiciary Committee, also said on that she’s ‘confident’ the committee will subpoena Mueller and Barr.

Hollywood is in meltdown mode following the release of the report. The usual suspects cannot face the fact that Mueller’s investigation on Russian interference had found no evidence of the Trump campaign colluding with Russia, and additionally did not recommend criminal charges against the president for obstruction of justice.

Two and half years of hope for the Dems is shattered; the subpoenas are just window dressing.

Perhaps if he had actually interviewed the suspect (Trump) he might have been able to reach a decision on whether or not he had indeed obstructed justice. That he did not kind of leaves the door open for more harassment by the opposition party.

It is very unusual for an investigator to not do an interview of a suspect in suspected crime when the suspect is freely available. Unless his counsel has notified the investigator he intends to invoke rights. Even then still unusual to not at least try.

OWB

What is unusual is that there was no evidence of a crime that triggered the investigation. Usually, there is a crime, with evidence of that crime, THEN an investigation begins to determine who is responsible for the crime.

So, no, it is not unusual for an investigator to not interview a “suspect” when there is no evidence that a crime has even been committed. You simply can’t have a suspect until after it has been determined that a crime was commtted.

Our system is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. In this case it has clearly been guilty until proven innocent. What sane person would play along with that nonsense?

The “investigators” did manage to create a few crimes by sucking folks in for questioning and then setting them up for process crimes. That borders on just plain evil, and is certainly not how law enforcement is supposed to operate in this country.

11B-Mailclerk

That was the plan. Get Trump talking in a rigged environment then !PERJURY! !IMPEACH!

But Trump wasn’t playing silly buggers games, and the Left is now demonstrating moonbark levels of insanity trying to wish him impeachable.

I think I will go have a nice steak dinner, while the Left dines on nothingburger with a large side of crow.

Not at all true. This is a good day for the country. We did a thorough investigation and found that while there were some shady dealings, the President of the United States did not actively coordinate with a foreign power nor did he effectively obstruct justice. Good news. But there are some unpleasant truths. The Russians took active measures to interfere in the campaign, and they succeeded in some degree. Note that I didn’t say they effected the outcome- they were able to hack into the servers of one party and manipulate social media. Trump campaign staff had contact with Russian government officials, mostly unwittingly, but in some cases wittingly. This does not constitute “collusion”, but it is still a problem that we have to fix. Carter Page was actively recruited by Russian intelligence before he ever became part of the campaign. Some campaign officials (chiefly Manafort, but also Cohen and a few others) were peddling their influence with the president to make money from overseas powers- specifically pro-Russian Ukrainian oligarchs. Trump took actions that could be considered obstruction in certain circumstances. His advisors told him not to and in some cases simply refused to execute his orders, which has effectively saved his administration. Mueller and Barr essentially said that without clear proof of intent there was not enough evidence to substantiate the charge- that does not mean Trump is exonerated. So, good news for the country, but to pretend that this was all a witch hunt and that the Trump campaign and administration are completely free of any wrongdoing is to fool yourself. The report concludes that Russia interfered with the election. That is a crime. It also found several instances where Trump campaign officials were linked to Russian government officials to include intelligence officials. There is potentially a crime there, and it is good that we investigated it. The obstruction charge is very murky- the report essentially says that some of Trump’s actions could be considered obstruction if they were intended to impede or block the investigation. Meuller declined to make that determination, and Barr decided that there… Read more »

The most offensive obstruction that has come out of this entire fiasco is that of the Democrats to obstruct the political goals of the duly elected Trump Administration. Imagine what Trump could have accomplished had he not had to deal with this constant negative bombardment and lack of cooperation by the Democrats and their lackey media.

Which, of course, was precisely the objective of their obstruction–to prevent Trump from dismantling the nation-killing policies of the Obama era.

As for the success of the Russian intelligence operation to stymie American governance, it has been incredibly successful thanks to the single-mindedness of the Democrats to put up a huge offense to defend the corruption within their own previous administration–not to mention their ongoing monumental stupidity.

And a last thought: You exonerate a man of a crime that never took place but you want to charge him for trying to defend himself against the nonexistent crime?

That’s through the looking glass territory…

Skippy

It’s time to start holding
People accountable for for big fiasco and, it’s the foot dragging by the DOJ I had to come to a end. Hillary need to face the music. Comey
Needs to do some jail time
And all the players need there day in court, this special consul was a huge waste of money the so called Russian collusion part of this investigation was probably finish over a year ago and the rest of the time has been spent trying to come up with a BS obstruction charge
Had it not been for barr coming on board this thing would have never ended

Reddevil

I don’t want to charge Trump with anything, except maybe Stupidity and Ise of Twitter Unbecoming of a President… made up crimes, as is ‘collision’ (a word, by the way, that does not appear in Meuller’s appointment letter)

rgr769

“Collision” is only investigated by traffic cops. “Collusion” is Progda shorthand for conspiracy to influence an election by illegal campaign contributions in kind. Their fever dream was that Trump and his inner circle were agents for RUSSIA! RUSSIA!!

Reddevil

give me a break, I was typing on an iPhone while on an elliptical. I have big thumbs, unlike Trump

Reddevil

Also, most adults did not believe that Trump ‘collided’ with Russia. Again, Muellers appointment did not mention the word at all.

It would be an interesting research project to find out who coined that phrase…

Mueller was tasked to investigate Russian interference in the election and coordination between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

It was predicated by the actual, no kidding, well documented links between campaign officials and Russian oligarchs and intelligence officials. Carter Page was actively recruited by Russian I tel as early as 2013. This was well before the Steele dossier. Don’t get me started on Paul Manafort.

Trump did not ‘collude’ (or collide). But some of his boys had a lot of Russian friends, and in the wake of the well documented Russian interference in the election, we needed to investigate.

I completely agree that Trump and his campaign did not wittingly coordinate with Russia. However, the evidence thatthe campaign was a moronathon is overwhelming. Please stop pretending otherwise.

There are serious vulnerabilities in our system that we have to address. Look at it this way: If you went to work one morning and the Secret vault was left open overnight, would you chalk it up to a mistake or would you investigate to make sure it was a mistake and not an overt act?

There was interference, and we needed to investigate every possibility. It is now over, and the outcome was good for the country. Trumps campaign is not guilty of any crime, but to pretend that nothing went wrong is simply naive.

timactual

“The Russians took active measures to interfere in the campaign”

The Russians (AKA the Soviet Union) has been taking “active measures” to influence US (and world) opinion and elections for almost a century now, from CHEKHA to SVR. This is not news. It is somewhat gratifying that the left finally admits it. Until ecently, Dept. A of the 1st Chief Directorate (Foreign Operations) of the KGB handled “active measures”..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_measures
https://fas.org/irp/world/russia/kgb/su0521.htm

There have been, and almost certainly still are, Americans, financially or ideologically motivated, who have helped the Russians in this area. Trump et al. were not among them.

I am sure the FBI could, if it really really tried, find real “agents of influence” instead of just political opponents.

rgr769

As a former lawer (although criminal law was not my forte), I can say with some certainty that anyone who is the target of a criminal investigation (especially by corrupt prosecutors) has nothing to gain by talking to by prosecutors or the popo who want to arrest you. First, the lawers will find some way to use something you said against you. Just ask all the people Mule-ear indicted and prosecuted.

The sole purpose of the SC’s desire to interview Trump was to gather evidence for their potential perjury and or obstruction charges. They have both legally and illegally obtained every bit of Trump’s communications with anyone that went out on the airwaves or over the phone lines. That is how they nailed Gen. Flynn. Their goal was to Scooter Libby the President.

5jc

I agree. However so far as I can tell he did not even make the effort.

So far as “no evidence” there was plenty of evidence of obstruction. Statements made to Comey; “I hope you can see your way to letting this go” (on Flynn). Attempts to remove Mueller, Trying to get Sessions to dismiss his recusal and take over the investigation, attempting to suborn perjury by trying to get McGahn to lie to Mueller’s investigators.

I have seen guys down for a lot less than all that.

rgr769

Really. Who, where, and when? I also like how you are taking Comey’s words for what Trump said to him and in what context. Comey is a proven liar and a major conspirator in the whole Get Trump Hoax on behalf of the Hildabeast, which all began in May, 2016.

5jc

Weird you have not seen that in context. I just assumed people familiar would recognize it:

“I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.”

As for where and when it was said you should familiarize yourself more with the case.

Calling Comey a liar is kind of ridiculous given that Trump gets caught lying all the time. Neither one has much credibility. Comey has the advantage of having made written notes of their conversation.

Mason

I don’t know if I’d trust a liar’s written lies over a liar’s verbal lies.

rgr769

I was referring to your comment that “I have seen guys go down for a lot less than that.” I assume you have cases authority for people convicted of obstruction of justice for a crime that never happened. But probably not since you just pulled that statement out of your ass, like Larsie the Commie. Calling Comey a liar is no more ridiculous than calling Barr a liar. But keep reading Progda.

5jc

Here you go. No crime committed. Obstruction of justice. Violated a court order when doing it too.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/asian-america/police-chief-guilty-contempt-sureshbhai-patel-excessive-force-case-resigns-n685906

And trying to imply I am a communist is both moronic and sad. Surely you can do better than that.

rgr769

Try again. The charge was contempt of a court order that no party or the court’s sequestration order during a criminal trial. I was charged with the same thing (contempt of a sequestration order) once during a trial, but just like the D-rats’ operation against Trump since mid-May 20i6, I proved the claim was a hoax engineered by the opposing attorney. He apparently realized he was losing the subject jury trial.

David

“I hope you can let this go” is a suggestion which can be, and was, ignored. “I want this stopped right now – that’s an order which you ignore at your peril” is obstruction. I would say what Trump is alleged to have said was very carefully phrased to come down on the side of the angels. Maybe only barely, but not obstruction.

Reddevil

Except if you are the Chief Executive, with, as the Right points out, the right (they mean authority) to fire everyone in DOJ.

This is why executives at this level usually keep their mouths shut in situations like this. As Everyone around Trump tried to tell him throughout this ordeal.

If Trump had just kept his mouth shut and his thumbs off his iPhone this would have been a quiet little CI case with some notable resignations on the side.

rgr769

I guess Commander 0 is an obstructer, since I heard him say he was sure Hillary did nothing wrong and she certainly didn’t intend to violate any of our security laws with regard to her e-mail.

Reddevil

if Obama said that it was wrong. Show me the quote..

It doesn’t t change the fact that Trumps actions and statements were inappropriate.

timactual

“Trumps actions and statements were inappropriate”

Grow up. The world is full of impropriety, on all sides. Human beings say dumb things.

timactual

“Calling Comey a liar is kind of ridiculous given that Trump gets caught lying all the time.”

Interesting logic; Trump is a liar therefore Comey cannot be a liar. I hate to break the bad news to you, but there are many liars in DC, not just Trump. In both parties!

timactual

“I hope you can see your way to letting this go” (on Flynn).”

Why not? It worked for Hillary.

HMC Ret

rgr769: 100% right on. “Officer, I intend to answer your questions only after I consult with an attorney. I will answer your questions in the company of my attorney.”

rgr769

I might also add, it is very unusual to do an interview with the primary mover in a security violation investation when the exoneration letter has already been drafted. Plus, it is pretty unusual to let her accomplices sit with her as her attorneys in the interview which is unrecorded. Also, when have you heard of people given immunity from prosecution without a proffer. The only thing “usual” about Hillary’s interview with the FBI was that she was in the same room as Agent Strozk.

5jc

The whole Clinton thing was a travesty. She really should have served hard time. If I had done even half the stuff she did I’d be in prison.

Skippy

Who said she’s out of the woods yet
There are three other investigations that no one (media)
Seems to understand have been ongoing
Two of them are coming to a head
I’d also like to know what was Obama’s involvement in this

rgr769

Those of us who had access to TS docs would all do time if we did one tenth of what she did.

Someone ‘inappropriately'(heh) took classified information from a secure environment and put it in an unsecured environment in violation of numerous statutes and regulations. Amateurs (probably). They left a trail. Any competent forensic investigator could have followed it. And, as you said, 15 people got immunity and at least some still refused to testify. Someone needs to go to jail, and I don’t even care if it is Hillary or not.

I can’t wait to see what happens when the criminal referrals and indictments are delivered.

They turned up empty handed. With their wanting to bring the Attorney General, and Robert Mueller, in front of Congress, the only thing they’re going to offer is political theater, and still come out empty-handed.

Meanwhile, its President Trump’s turn. Time for a real investigation on those responsible for bringing this about. This is going to reverberate through next year. President Trump is playing three-dimensional chess against the opposition’s randomly moving checker pieces around.

I knew the release of the report wouldn’t satisfy them. Release of the unredacted report, release of all the tens of thousands of pages of investigative documents, and having everyone involved in the probe (investigators, witnesses, suspects, grand jury members) testifying publicly in front of Congress won’t appease them either.

Anything to try to take down the most successful president in years because they don’t like him personally.

The demo rats were dancing with joy when mueller and his demo rat investigative party $ contributers headed the investigation thinking that mueller would find the POTUS guilty of every thing the party wanted him to find and it turned out that these peeps ran the investigation fair and square which made chucky and his crowd very upset with the out come and now thinking Barr is protecting Mr. Trump with the redactions.

rgr769

I wouldn’t say they “ran the investigation fair and square.” The investigation was run by Deep State corruptocrats who fiercely wanted Hillary to be president at any cost. At least 14 of the 19 attorneys were Hillary contributors and supporters. Several of them had represented the Clinton Foundation and other Clintonistas. Weissman, a rabid Trump hater, was at Hillary’s victory party on election night. He was the first attorney picked by Mule-ear for this hoax investigation. The only reason Peter Strozck was bounced from the SC team is because some of his emails to Lisa Page were made public. They couldn’t find a conspiracy to coordinate the campaign with Russia because, as Strozck commented in a text to his girlfriend early on, “…there is no there there.”

assemblerhead

No one is going to get the unredacted report.

The allegations made, in front of the grand jury, will be redacted by law.

Seriously, any liar can make a BS claim in front of a gran jury. They never get challenged on their claims.

Garold

Also, missing from the media discussion is that this B.S. investigation includes the Russians. Our tactics of investigating should not be released. It is a national security issue. I realize the Trump haters will never accept that but then again they care not about national security; only their political ends.

You can’t have collusion or obstruction of an event that never took place.

As to the accusation of obstruction by attacking the accusers or investigators, the leftists have now accused the investigators of unsavory conduct. Does that accusation of obstruction now apply to them?
