Man shot, killed after attacking Good Samaritan in Mississippi, police say

TAYLORSVILLE, Miss. (WLBT) – A man was shot and killed after attacking a motorist who was attempting to help him, police say.

According to Taylorsville Police Chief Gabe Horn, shortly after midnight on Saturday, a driver stopped to help an alleged stranded male motorist.

The man who appeared to need help then reportedly tried to carjack the Good Samaritan’s vehicle, leading to a struggle.

During the altercation, the Good Samaritan shot and killed the alleged stranded motorist.

Police say that no charges have been filed so far and the case is still under investigation.

Authorities are waiting for autopsy and toxicology results before making any further decisions.

The names of those involved are not being released at this time, pending notification of the family.

Thanks again, Gun Bunny.

It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood.

It would have been interesting to see that shortie shottie with slug ammo.

Curious if it had a rifled barrel, and not the vertical grip, would it still get labeled as an Any Other Firearm? I am not an NFA expert.
I know the Shockwaves don’t use a pistol grip in order to not get labeled as Short Barrel Shotguns but what else is necessary? Obviously not the forward vertical grip…especially in California!

Roh-Dog

Prob be a DD (destructive device) due to bore being over .5 inch and non-sporting purpose, thereby requiring 200 USD vs 5 USD tax stamp extortion fee.

The Shockwave is a firearm due to no stock and overall length of >26 inchs.

NFA is open to interpretation by ATF and that’s the rub.

Trying to carjack a good Samaritan.
I hope the carjacker was in agony all the way to his death.
This is the thing that ruins it for those that really need assistance, “why won’t anyone stop to help me?”

Yepper, I used to be the FIRST (Snickers) to stop and see if I could assist a fellow motorist, ‘specially if it seemed to be a damsel in distress…with kids in tow. Quit that sh*t years ago. Nefarious types would “bait” the vehicle with seemingly harmless folks while the nefarious ones waited just outside of view. Situation awareness and being armed got me out of a jam several times. Now-a-days, best thing for the good citizen to do is use their cell phone to call the popo, or the HERO units that many state DOT offices have cruising the highway. My local LEOs have busted some dirt bags that were laying in wait for an unsuspecting victim to come along that just happened to be an unmarked patrol cruiser.

I guess Lindsay Graham is fapfapfapfapfaping anticipating another war in the ME. Our boys and girls are going to get sucked into that Tar Baby. Watch

A Mare’s Leg that makes an Earth Shattering KA-BOOOM!? Josh Randall and Marvin…grin!

As far as the war in the ME is concerned. Everyone seems to be content to just sit by and let the belligerents slug it out. The real question is can the instigator’s cronies keep themselves from kicking the hornets nest and we have to pull another Operation Preying Mantis!!!

Years ago, I’d stop to help motorists on the side of the road. I have been helped when broken down more than once over the years.

Not since cell phones became ubiquitous and stories like these become more common. In other words, not for close to 20 years.

Someone broken down on the side of the road will have a phone and the ability to summon help. They don’t need me to stop and I’m not taking the chance that I’ll end up having to shoot someone if they try to rob me or something else nefarious.

And I don’t expect anyone else to stop to help me (if they do, I’ll be very suspicious and probably just tell them to go away) so I do my best to be prepared.

I might make an exception if I’m in an area where I know there’s no or poor cell reception and they may actually be stranded, but other than that…sorry…you’re on your own.

Graybeard

Whether or not I stop to help depends upon where I am.

Out in the country on a Farm to Market or Rural Route road, highly likely I’ll check and see.
On the interstate or other high-traffic area, not very likely.
In either case, situational awareness should always be on “High”.

I’m not sure I’d want to try that shorty shotty even when I was young and dumb(er). Choices have consequences. And the possible consequence of a broken wrist is something I’d druther avoid.

That’s one way to get a word in edgewise when a woman is speaking. ::ducks and runs to cover::

I won’t be impressed with the Iranian air defense system until they shoot down another civilian passenger jet.

Can’t wait for the next 30 minute long video of Mark Serbu complaining about having to make shorties again because of all the requests.

Genius is a curse Mark. Get over it.
