Japan executes Aum Shinrikyo terrorists

| July 7, 2018

AW1Ed sends us the news that Japan hanged seven members of the cult terrorists of Aum Shinrikyo, including their leader Shoko Asahara. The group was blamed for the nerve gas attack in the Tokyo subway system in 1995 which killed 13 and injured more than 6,000.

The hanging of Asahara has in some ways closed the curtain on the shocking crimes and dramatic events staged by Aum. But it also leaves several critical questions unanswered, because even during his trial, Asahara never explained the actual motivations for the crimes.

In particular, the 1995 sarin attack in Tokyo is remembered as a watershed event that deeply damaged a long-held sense of security felt by many in postwar Japan.

[…]

In addition to Asahara, 191 Aum members were indicted over a number of criminal acts — including murders, attempted murders, abductions and the production of deadly nerve gases and illegal automatic rifles. Twelve had their death penalty sentences finalized.

There are rumors in the Japanese media that at least one of the folks who were executed was awaiting retrial. But not now, I guess. He’s in Hell’s waiting room.

The sad thing about execution in cases like this is that you can only execute them once.

A good old fashioned hanging is something we need to revive in this country and not with 20yrs of appeals.
“you raped a child, you will hang from the neck until dead tomorrow. May God have mercy upon your soul” and done.
But he is a minority. So?
But he had a hard upbringing. So?
But there is institutional racism. So?
He raped a child, remove him from humanity

I remember looking at pictures from the Old West when Horse Thieves were hanged, so hanging someone for murder, rape or child molestation should not be an issue.

AMEN!

23 years ago and they are just now hanging the S.O.B.’s? think of all the food, water and air the bas-ards wasted !

Wow. I remember that attack. Took them long enough. I thought Japan was a no bullshit place.

AW1Ed

In Japan one is pretty much guilty until proven innocent, but like our system numerous appeals held up the executions.

Good riddance to the terrorists.

I read an article yesterday that said they hung them without prior notice, like an hour before or the morning of & that is general policy…I think that’s a great policy. Knowing the exact date of your death would be tough, but I think it’s poetic justice for the victims for them not to know if it’s today, ok today, maybe today…day in and day out. For anyone that qualifies for the Death Penalty, I don’t think worrying about their mental health or if it’s torture is something that should ever be considered. I doubt they didn’t take anyone’s feelings into consideration when they did whatever they did to be on Death Row.

Edit: Last Sentence from above;
“I doubt they “took” anyone’s feelings…”
Strike “didn’t take”

I read that, too, in an article by Thomas Lifson over at American Thinker. Lifson lived in Japan for a while as a business consultant and had a friend high in the police structure there. He said the prisoners never know from the time they receive their sentences if the next early morning noise outside the cell door means breakfast or the hangman. They get to sweat out each night not knowing if it will be their last.

I rather like that.

“Okay, let’s go.”

“Showers?”

“No.”

“Chow?”

“No.”

“Early exercise?”

“No.”

“Shit.”

I mentioned to my wife just yesterday that there are posts on TAH that make me genuinely laugh out loud. This is one of those posts. Good job.

The murderers’ lives were unexpectedly interrupted and ended.

Poetic.

They spent over 20 years waiting for it.

Ouch.

I remember this – it happened right after I left my first assignment in Yokosuka. Thought that the founder had died long ago until I heard about his execution. Here’s more on the cult (which has fragmented and is considered at terrorist group):

I hope that those that were executed enjoy stoking the fires of Hell for eternity.

Doc Savage

Good…no warning beforehand…no time to mentally prepare themselves.

I hope they felt absolute terror as they shit their pants and pissed themselves.

Forest Green

Should have used Musashi’s Sword.

The Other Whitey

My (limited) understanding of the whole Bushido thing is that death by sword is considered honorable, and thus too good for these sacks of shit. Death by hanging is disgraceful, and therefore appropriate.

Forest Green

Only for a Samurai in battle or seppuku. Lopping the head off common scum was just practice or checking the edge of a sword, which was apparently a common practice.

Like the Japanese Imperial Army did in many a place they occupied.

Boy, they really “Nipped” those guys in the bud. Is a drum rim shot justified on this one???

*Ba-dum-TSSSHHHHHH!*

HMC Ret

Must be absolute terror every time a guard comes to the door. Wow, that’s worse than having a date to die. Well, they will be in good company with several other terrorists who have circled the drain recently. OBL comes to mind. They can plot to take over hell. Gonna be hot in that pit of fire for eternity. I got zip sympathy for this scum.

Mark Lauer

Aww, shit. I was hoping they killed ’em with Samurai swords. Cause that woulda been really cool. Have a guy come in wearing a Ninja outfit, screaming at the top of his lungs, and just lopping the heads clean off. Or maybe cutting their stomachs open and watching the guts come out…..that would be cool.

I’m off my meds again.

My wee just tingled.

Grunt

You made my butthole wet dude

Ex-PH2

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Doesn’t have to be a reason from Shinrikyo. It was because he could, nothing else.

Bill M

‘Bout time!

See now that wasn’t so hard was it?
