Obama Justice Department helped Hezbollah smuggle Coke into US

| December 18, 2017

According to Politico, the Drug Enforcement Agency built a case against Iran’s client Hezbollah in regards to their efforts to smuggle cocaine into the United States and smuggle the resulting profits back to Iran. The Operation named Project Cassandra was met with roadblocks from the Department of Justice;

Over the next eight years, agents working out of a top-secret DEA facility in Chantilly, Virginia, used wiretaps, undercover operations and informants to map Hezbollah’s illicit networks, with the help of 30 U.S. and foreign security agencies.

They followed cocaine shipments, some from Latin America to West Africa and on to Europe and the Middle East, and others through Venezuela and Mexico to the United States. They tracked the river of dirty cash as it was laundered by, among other tactics, buying American used cars and shipping them to Africa. And with the help of some key cooperating witnesses, the agents traced the conspiracy, they believed, to the innermost circle of Hezbollah and its state sponsors in Iran.

But as Project Cassandra reached higher into the hierarchy of the conspiracy, Obama administration officials threw an increasingly insurmountable series of roadblocks in its way, according to interviews with dozens of participants who in many cases spoke for the first time about events shrouded in secrecy, and a review of government documents and court records. When Project Cassandra leaders sought approval for some significant investigations, prosecutions, arrests and financial sanctions, officials at the Justice and Treasury departments delayed, hindered or rejected their requests.

The Justice Department declined requests by Project Cassandra and other authorities to file criminal charges against major players such as Hezbollah’s high-profile envoy to Iran, a Lebanese bank that allegedly laundered billions in alleged drug profits, and a central player in a U.S.-based cell of the Iranian paramilitary Quds force. And the State Department rejected requests to lure high-value targets to countries where they could be arrested.

The Obama administration didn’t want to upset their nuclear deal with Iran. That was coupled with a desire to integrate the terrorist organization Hezbollah into the political structure of Lebanon.

From the UK’s Daily Mail;

DEA agents claim the Obama administration stopped them arresting key figures linked to Hezbollah as an agreement on the Iran nuclear deal approached – and scrapped Project Cassandra entirely once the terms were agreed in 2015.

Arming Mexican drug cartels, funding the Iranian nuclear program and protection for drug kingpins in Hezbollah. At what point do we admit that the Obama Administration was a criminal enterprise?

But, Uncle Joe Biden said just the other day that the O Administration never had a hint of a scandal. I’m so confused.

Mogrith

Wow joe was telling the truth. This is far beyond a hint,

NHSparky

And the, “Obama Legacy” continues to grow.

If Bush had done this (or Trump), there’d be riots in the streets.

And beyond this article, there will be little, if any, exposure by the MSM. Cause, reasons.

Ex-PH2

I disagree about little if any exposure. It may take a while for the “glamour” to wear off, but the rot that fool created is caving in, little by little. I think there is much more to come.

NHSparky

Nah, the MSM will try to bury this and everything else related, even in the face of overwhelming evidence of malfeasance. Why? Credibility, or the lack thereof. If they started doing their jobs now, they’d have to admit it was they, not Trump, the Rooskies, et al, who were colluding with anyone.

Hell, we see it now. How many times has CNN, MSNBC, etc., been caught saying or doing something incredibly stupid, yet keeps doubling down on their bullshit?

Ex-PH2

Pessimist! They’ve created the cess pit in which they’re wallowing. They know they lack credibility. If they didn’t know, they wouldn’t avoid accurate news reporting.

How many times have people said their audience is drifting away from them? The longer they grasp at their own ‘myth’, the closer they are to sinking under their own weight.

Graybeard

Chicago Thugs, International.

What I hate is that now, for all of eternity, he first American President of African descent will be remembered as divisive, petty, criminal, and ignorant as hell.

If the KKK had wanted a better example of why their hate is justified, they could not have found it.

And Obama does not represent those in my small community whose ancestors came from Africa. Hard working, honest, loyal, intelligent Americans like many others in our nation.

Obama has smeared them all.

OldSoldier54

He sure has.

Ex-PH2

Like Graybeard says, that idjit in a suit doesn’t represent the people (of all groups) in my community who have worked hard to support their families and make something good of their lives.

I have never detested anyone the way I detest that jackass. If he ever knocks on my door, I will slam it on his hand and call the pohlease on him. When I get past the anger he inspires, I’ll let you know. He’s done everything possible to create aspersions to be cast on the dumbocraps. And no, I don’t feel sorry for them. They think with their stomachs and derrieres, because that’s where their brains are.

Rant over. I’ll go vacuum the living room now.

Te 0bama administration has to be the most opaque and corrupt in American History, He and the Clintons make Richard Nixon look like an Altar Boy!

rgr769

Tricky Dick was bush league compared to 0bama’s regime and the Clinton Syndicate of Corruption.

11B-Mailclerk

As more and more of this crap bubbles to the surface, the supporters of that previous idiocracy/corruptocracy will have to redouble efforts to redirect the hate to Trump. They do not dare allow their efforts to slack. The mob howls for scalps, and Robespierre will do as well as not…

Hondo

“Most corrupt ‘transparent’ Administration in history.”

And that took some doing, given past examples (Harding Administration comes to mind).

Ex-PH2

How much more to come can we expect, Hondo? Is this just the tip of the proverbial iceberg?

Ret_25X

In truth, Harding’s cronies would have no way to understand the level of corruption accepted today.

Anybody remember the song “Smuggler’s Blues”? Our government has been laying down with dogs and getting up with fleas for quite awhile.

Wish I were more surprised. Operation Fast and Furious, the Iran nuclear “deal”, giving Clinton a free pass on violating every law on the handling of classified materials, the exchange of five terrorists for a post-leaving traitor, and this. Apparently their idiocy/obstructionism/incompetence knew no bounds.

Like all the other stuff, if it makes the MSM, it’ll be as some right wing conspiracy to defile the legacy of Obama. Meanwhile, in a matter of hours after a train derails in Washington, it’s being blamed on Trump.

Ex-PH2

In regard to that Amtrak derailment in WA state, that train’s speed was tracked at 81.1 MPH on a section of track that required a slowdown to 30MPH.

How are The They going to blame a train engineer’s mistake on DTrump? That’s far too easy to rebut.

UpNorth

See the tweet from April Ryan, D-MSDNC, on the derailment(sorry, can’t find a link now), it’s Trump’s fault because Tax Cuts…
Meanwhile, there’s a reason that freight trains don’t run at speed with the engine(s) trailing, maybe Amtrak could study that? Most times they don’t exceed the speed limits by 50mph, either.

Ex-PH2

April must have a brain the size of a gnat’s whiskers. Tax cuts haven’t gone into effect, they’re just talk at this point, but a careless engineer is not at fault at all.

Yeah, she’s right up there with Maxine and that phony cowgirl hat rack with teeth.

Ret_25X

actually, there is some reporting that indicates that antifa might be part of this story. I’m sure we will never see any follow up on that angle….

Mason

Comments I saw were blaming him for the crash cause he cut back regulations and inspectors. Don’t know how much truth there is to it, but can’t for the life of me see a connection.

Going more than twice the speed limit for the track is a pretty huge mistake. Under normal circumstances I’d say the conductor or engineer (I forget who is the actual driver) was texting or asleep, but this was the day one trip. Wonder if there was some mechanical failure or issue. I thought the trains, at least the newer ones, had speed limiters and GPS tracking to prevent such mistakes.

rgr769

The conductor is the guy who checks your ticket and walks through the cars. The engineers drive the train. An engineer was driving the train and apparently failed to start slowing for a curve ahead which should only be traversed at 30 mph. Remember, trains can’t slow or stop very quickly like highway vehicles. a train may take a quarter to half mile to come to a stop.

Ex-PH2

Considering that Amtrak has train monitoring in place at all times, and the train was clocked and recorded at the speed I quote (81.1MPH in a 30MPH zone), it just does not sound like antifa. Sounds more like someone not paying attention.

OWB

Yet media reports continue that the train was going 80 MPH. Apparently exactly 80 MPH. Not over, not almost, not a bit more than or any other qualifier.

Is it safe to say that when it stopped, the train was traveling below the speed limit?

Stupid media.

It’s amazing how many on the left still believe the bullshit and all but deify the former Glorious Leader in the face of obvious corruption.

Nice job, guys! For the storied “First Black President,” not only did you fail to pick an actual black guy, you brilliantly chose a filthy corrupt shitweasel who played chickenshit identity politics like a fiddle. Ya know, at least Nixon wanted America to succeed.

You mean Americans funded Iran’s nuclear weapons program through their drug habits. More evidence of the DEA’s failed war and reason to legalize and eliminate the underground market and bring transparency to the abuse so it can be managed. When are we going to realize people are going to get high or drunk no matter what!!…

Ex-PH2

Get high, no matter what?

Yes, they are. Some idiot was arrested this morning for driving too slow with no headlights. He admitted he’d downed an entire bottle of Robitussin, an off-the-shelf product for coughs and colds. If people want to do stupid things, you simply can’t stop them.

Mason

Too true. I’ve seen a lot of people drinking mouthwash on days when the liquor stores are closed.

Sorensen25

I won’t get into details, but I can tell you that the DEA is overstepping by claiming that Hizballah writ large runs drug rings – other orgs don’t agree with that assessment. Yeah, there are probably some Hizballah-linked guys who engage in the drug trade, but that is not something condoned by Hizballah’s head honcho or other senior leaders. In fact, it’s verboten. Just low level shitheads engaged in shithead behavior.

But yes, anything and everything nefarious about Iran is extremely politicized for obvious reasons. The same could be said about North Korea, China, Pakistan, and other countries though.

UpNorth

If you “won’t get into details”, how are we supposed to judge your post? Hezbollah doesn’t mind mass murder, killing school children, or Christians and Jews indiscriminately, but they draw the line at drug dealing? Seriously?

OWB

Do you seriously expect us to believe that in this century criminals and/or terrorists are unwilling to engage in any activity which furthers their cause?

Yeah. Whatever.

AZtoVA

“At what point do we admit that the Obama Administration was a criminal enterprise?”

Many of us reached that point well before the general election in 2008…. but then we MUST have been racist instead of pragmatic.

rgr769

A recent speech by J. Christian Adams (former DOJ atty. in Civil Rights Division) makes the point that the 0bama gang infected the highest levels of every government agency with true-believing activist proggies; and most of them are still there engaging in the “Resistance.” The Dark Side of the Force is strong in the Deep State.

11B-Mailclerk

Yet, I will always be grateful to Obama for preventing the much -worse- criminal enterprise of a Hillary Clinton administration.

Just -imagine- what a -competent- like HRC would have done.

So I will, on that one detail, be always grateful that zer0 blocked her, twice.

A Proud Infidel®™

Yes, IMHO 0bama was the lesser of those two evils.

OWB

Criminal behavior by those who demonstrated years and decades ago a willingness to commit criminal acts should come as no surprise to anyone. The problem for us is that many of them remain at all levels of government in charge of too many things and in positions to continue to sabotage whatever good is being done by others on our behalf.

There simply are too many bureaucrats for sane members of society to keep them in check.
