Suspect shot by ‘good Samaritan’ during attempted robbery at local McDonald’s identified: Officials

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (WJW) – The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has identified a man killed at a local McDonald’s.According to East Cleveland Mayor Lateek Shabazz, officers responded to the McDonald’s on Euclid Avenue and Eddy Road Tuesday evening.
Multiple reports stated that a male suspect with a gun was holding up the fast food restaurant, city officials said.
A preliminary investigation later revealed that the suspect was trying to rob the McDonald’s when he was “fired upon by a good Samaritan,” the mayor’s statement said.
The suspect was taken to University Hospitals for his injuries.
According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner, he was identified as Ben Jones, 23, of Cleveland.

Man shot by homeowner after allegedly trying to break into home in Philadelphia’s Kensington section
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A man was shot multiple times by a homeowner after he was allegedly trying to break into a home in Philadelphia’s Kensington section.
It happened around 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday in the 1800 block of East Thayer Street .
Police arrived to find a 55-year-old man shot several times in the leg.
They say the man was climbing a ladder in the rear of the home when the 22-year-old homeowner saw him and fired shots.
The 55-year-old continued to climb the ladder, went onto a second-floor roof and forced his way into a home next door.
Police took the man into custody.
He’s being held as a prisoner while being treated for his gunshot wounds.
So far, no charges have been filed against homeowner.

Elpidio Reyna, an alleged violent rioter who was captured on video throwing rocks at the windshields of moving Border Patrol vehicles in Los Angeles, was arrested on Wednesday at the U.S.-Mexico border.Video of the attack allegedly shows Reyna, who is wearing what appears to be a motorcycle helmet, picking up several large rocks on the side of the road and lobbing them at Border Patrol vehicles as they pass by. The alleged attack occurred in Paramount, California, on June 7, during the height of the Los Angeles anti-ICE riots.
Bill Essayli, U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, released video of the alleged violent rioter being picked up at the San Ysidro port of entry in San Diego. One federal officer was injured as a result of the attack.
According to Essayli, Reyna, whom he called a “dangerous felon,” surrendered to federal authorities at the U.S.-Mexico border to face a felony charge of assault on a federal officer. He was apprehended by a U.S. Border Patrol officer who was inside of the vehicles damaged by the attack and “could have been killed in last month’s dangerous and reckless attack.”

Those rocks he was tossing at windshields were bigger than softballs, the vehicles traveling at close to highway speeds. It could have gone a lot worse.
seems to me I recently read of a Denver case in which the driver was killed by kids dropping rocks onto their windshield.
That happens a few times a year and the offenders are rarely caught.
My idea of fitting punishment for Mr Reyna….make him run past a line of Border Patrol officers (bonus points for officers who were there at the original incident) while they throw rocks at him.
Once he’s hit (multiple times) and injured, package him up and drop him off across the border.
Literally….drop him off. At 500 feet. A LANO (Low Altitude No Open) no parachute drop.
Guaranteed he’ll never break the law by coming across the border again. That’d be about the only thing not broken on Mr Reyna.
Make it a HINO drop so he has plenty of time to consider the results of his actions.
I’m with Col Cooper, that’s a cute little watch fob. I’d buy one just to be able to buy a vest, watch, and chain to make a complete set.
I have a 1904 .25 and had to strip every part except 1 part which I could not take out down to parade rest, and finished off the slide with Brownell Oxpho blue. This gun was just dirty inside from the years that a former Yonkers Det. took it from a perp and it just dirtied up after over maybe 60+ years. His Daughter gave it to me after his passing and his partner got his service revolver. I mentioned the 1904 on todays Sig 320 Commisar’s Friday rant. My old Sears Robuck catologue had the gun listed for around $ there bucks….

So happy that he is in jail and hope he remains there until the inmates are finished with him.

Although I think that if he ever returns to the scene of the crime, he won’t be able to buy anything, his money will be no good.
