Norwegian Military Women in Special Forces Training

| April 9, 2017

They certainly do have nice hair.  Okay, enough snarking on my part, as I wholly support the efforts of women who volunteer for this kind of thing.

Per the article, in this group of women there were over 300 who voluntarily applied the first year, but only 12 made it through to completion.  I believe there is a high rate of washout in this kind of preliminary training, anyway.

At first I thought it was an April Fool’s joke, but it was not released on 4/1/17, so that eliminated that possibility.

According to the narrative, the women in training carry their weight in a backpack (ruck, for you picky people), which means that if one of them weighs 120lb. (54.54 KG), this is what they carry. They hike 30 KM (18.9 miles) per day, they get a lot of cold weather training, they do a lot of shooting, and they do other physical training.

Everything was fine, but the video showed them doing pushups. I couldn’t help giggling. They don’t look very well done to me, but maybe that’s just me. I don’t do regular pushups. I do wall pushups, which are easier on my aging back.

Still, I’m not going to say it’s baloney, because we have our own ladies in Spec Ops training, don’t we? But it’s been a year, and no women have stepped up and volunteered for BUD/S since it was opened to Navy women.  http://taskandpurpose.com/year-seals-still-havent-seen-female-applicants/

I think they should do something about the hair, like get it out of the way. Long hair, even in a pony tail or braid, is not your friend when you undergoing a strenuous program.  But they’re Norwegians, so their regs are probably different from ours.

Wow… Viking Warrior Women! Getting a tingly feeling in my man land thinking about it!

🙂 🙂 🙂

IDC SARC

oh my…fapfapfapfpafpafpafapfapfappity fapfap!

MSG Eric

Why can’t we go to war with one of these countries FFS? I’d be more than willing to be captured and interrogated by these women. The things I must do for my country.

MustangCryppie

Get tingly too, especially when they play their theme song!

Hmm, is Demi Moore too old at this point to sign up maybe? It must be the age requirement thing, the navy is still discriminating! Bastards!

The day we have the first female SEAL we will have at least a dozen posers. And some of them will be men.

Jonn Lilyea

We’ve had a couple of transgendered folks who think that they were women and SEALs.

.
Somebody tell Hillary. Maybe she can do that for the next four or more years.

I hope some of the undercover work they are going to do involves dealing with their problem “unaccompanied minor” male “refugees”.

I don’t use emojis so you are just going to have to imagine the big smiley face I am wearing.

Let the women keep their long hair. PsyOps. Like concealed carry….”who’s the deadly ones?”

Their requirements to complete their SF course are about what US infantry have to do at the end of basic training…

Six whole pull ups? Forty pushups?

Drill sergeant would be chewing ass…

Chip

I’ve been told nothing but good things about their Marine Commandos.

A wasted effort, IMO.

Long-term wear-and-tear, no matter how much heart/grit/determination…a Lady shooter will break down. It’s been seen before in hard core Ladies attached to Infantry(ish) units.

The powers-that-be that are pushing this don’t care about reality of course. The 1st Lady to graduate BUD/S will break down if she winds up in a platoon on a SpecOps deployment.

It sounds like typical ‘rah-rah’ ‘scariness’, but it’s true: your instructors @ BUD/S will tell you ‘this is as easy as it gets’ and in all the ways that matter, that statement is very accurate.

But all the attention will be on ‘her’ gradating from BUD/S…not the grim results of being in a platoon, 120% and hair on fire every day.

That doesn’t mean women can’t and don’t contribute as sneaky killer types. They have been for awhile at certain units that will not be named. But putting them in a platoon or troop as assaulters wastes some of their unique capabilities.

Besides that, at some point they will end up nocked-up, biology being what it is. Whether broken down or nocked-up they will be undeployable. So it will largely be a waste of resources just to accomplish some worthless SJW social engineering objective without a warfighting purpose. Just another effort at “females are the same as males” and “gender is just a false social construct.” Biology be damned.

Having long hair waving around like a super model. What could possibly go wrong with that in combat, jumping, hand to hand etc….
Yeah, color me skeptical too. Carrying their own weight day after day for 20miles? Yeah, no….Looked to me like they were DRAGGING it on a toboggan. I doubt there are many men that could do that let alone women. Why are all the glamour shots of their long hair? Warrior Barbie?

IDC SARC

Requirements to complete the course:

15km (9 miles) speed march in full gear (22kg backpack, weapon, boots) through forests within two hours and 15 minutes
Six pull-ups
50 sit-ups in two minutes
40 push-ups
3km run – maximum time 13 minutes
400m swim, first 25m underwater – maximum time 11 minutes

lol….that’s so cute

IDC SARC

I had to be in early and actually work…I too am disappointed and am analyzing the AAR to avoid it happening in the future..

IDC SARC

“because we have our own ladies in Spec Ops training, don’t we?”

Currently:
None in the SF pipeline (also not seeking any)
None in the SARC/MARSOC pipeline (seeking?)
None in the SEAL pipeline (Seeking?)

IDC SARC

oh….if you consider Civil Affairs SOF…yes there are women in that pipeline currently.

Norway has a military? Hmm, when folks mention fearsome Special Forces I can’t recall one time in my six decades on the planet ever hearing Norwegian Special Forces on the list….

Norway strikes me as the kind of place like Denmark where the military might be unionized, because they don’t actually have enough people to defend themselves. No more than they could 75 years ago..their military trains to be an anti-occupation resistance forces because they are so small as to be unable to resist a first world aggressor.

We love the Norwegians, don’t get me wrong. They have a great curling team, and their skiers are phenomenal.

2/17 Air Cav

Tulip commandos. Old joke. What’s better than roses on a piano? Tulips on an organ.

USMC Steve

Norewgian “Special Forces” is kind of a misnomer. Look at their unionized tiny little army. Not impressive. AT ALL. And that ponytail will be great as a grab handle when someone is close combatting them.

David

Hope the girl laying in the snow firing behind the vehicle never has a target very far away – she’s got that rifle canted near 45 degrees. Must have learned by watching gangsta training movies.

mr. sharkman

Both Danish and Norwegian SOF have well-deserved reputations as being very, very capable.

IDC SARC

yeah…worked with several over the years in PEP type billets in the Recon community and have to agree.

Silentium Est Aureum

I saw the requirements to finish. A 50 year-old man in moderately good shape could do those.
