Carl Vinson Strike Group headed for Korea
The Washington Post reports that the Carl Vinson Strike Group was diverted as it left Singapore for Australia and is now steaming for Korean waters.
North Korea is expected to hold a huge military parade on April 15 to celebrate the 105th birthday of its founding president, Kim Il Sung, and to mark the 85th anniversary of the creation of the Korean People’s Army on April 25 with similar fanfare.
Analysts expect the recent barrage of missiles to continue, and activities around its known nuclear test site have raised concerns North Korea may be preparing for a sixth nuclear test.
Over the weekend, North Korea said it was not afraid of military strikes like those the United States launched on Syria last week, saying it could defend itself with its “tremendous military muscle with a nuclear force.”
The Vinson Group had just completed maneuvers with the South Koreans in March. The North Koreans have called the missile attack on their ally Syria an “unpardonable…undisguised act of aggression against a sovereign state”. I’d remind the North Koreans of Israel’s September 6, 2007, attack on Syria’s al-Kibar nuclear facility that had been built by North Korea.

NO! NO! It cannot be!!!
Fatty Kim da T’ird got the Donald’s attention. He will regret in 3…2…2…2…1 BLAM!!
What’s really interesting about this is the timing: Trump’s doing this immediately after meeting with the Chinese leader which carries the implication of agreement between them that something must be done about this pipsqueak.
Bet Kim’s bum is some kinda tight right now…
Good. I want to see what the little pipsqueak does. I’d also like to know just how ‘loyal’ some of the Nork soldiers really are. That last picture posted of them showed that they don’t seem to be getting enough to eat, period.
Didn’t that TV show ‘Dynasty’ end with a catfight in the swimming pool?
The picture of the cheering mob behind fatboy on Drudge is creepy. But if you fear you’ll die by an antiaircraft gun I guess you’d cry and smile and cheer too.
As usual, the NK Army will be fanatically loyal, as any non-fanatics are currently in Gulags. The NK Army will be as effective as its logistics can support, likely impressive in the first three days, then a rapid tapering-off. That first 24 hours of artillery barrage will make quite a mess of a whole bunch of the ROK. Seoul will likely be laid waste, utterly. (Unless we have a whole bunch of immediately-available counter-battery, a lot more than we have now.) The overall greater logistics system of the ROK and allies will again result in ROK/US northward operations, which will again face the PRC’s long standing “stay the hell away from our borders” policy. Since the PRC-PLA will be effectively operating as a “home” game, they in turn can occupy the DPRK at will, assuming they are willing to engage in round two of the prior bloodbath. The eventual line stabilizes at the location where we are prepared to launch nukes at them, and likewise they at us, probably right around the current DMZ line. Or, there is a secret agreement now in place, or one will be worked out on the spot, to partition the North, largely with us handling the massses the PRC does not want, and the PRC obtaining some considerable DMZ depth at the Yalu, with all dislocated persons driven south for us to deal with. The ROK then tries to assimilate 20 million starving people, a mix of communist fanatics and effectively broken serfs, almost none of whom will fit into the South. West Germany is still dealing with the consequences of absorbing the former DDR, and those two were one heck of a lot closer in economic level and culture than the ROK and DPRK. This is going to get messy, unless the folks in the DPRK overturn the regime themselves, and that is highly unlikely in the next 5-10 years. Of course, if the PRC were to… help … the locals do so, a whole bunch of face might be saved. And I wonder, if Trumo was sharp enough to bring that up… Read more »
It’s time to turn China and Russia into allies; a lot would settle down in the world if that might were combined. That combination might also be able to finally answer the riddle posed by the Middle East;say what you want about them, neither the Russians nor the Chinese are afraid of a fight. They would make stalwart allies, if we could bring them to our side.
“It’s time to turn China and Russia into allies”. We had that chance and blew it when we spit in Russia’s face when they were down and crowed to anyone who would listen about the triumph of capitalism. Putin is the result. Anyway there are too many parties who have a vested interest in perpetual conflict for that to happen in our lifetime.
This should tell the phat little a.h. to either put up or shut up…..blow the bastards house up, worked to shut up kadafy for about 20 years!!
I would rather see him taken alive and put in a zoo. Right next to the monkeys that spend all day doing what monkeys do.
When you care enough to send the very best.
No snarking right now.
I wish them a speedy, safe voyage, fair winds and calm seas, and if the Norks launch their fighter jets, I hope the crews of all ships moon them.
“I hope the crews of all ships moon them.”
THAT would be EPIC! The Moonies are back in Korea!
We are certainly living in interesting times.
Its funny when i read about North Korea. I play a game called “Sid Myers Civilization V” where you start out in the stone age and progress to the Nuclear age and beyond. I got hooked on it after i was medivaced and had nothing to do but kill time in between Appointments. what i get a kick out of is once you hit the Nuclear age, you also get things like stealth bombers, Nuclear ballistic missile subs and the like. normally the last player to reach that era is also the weakest and as soon as any of your troops reach his area you get a popup that says “our threats are now backed by nuclear missiles”. for me this is normally France, but this morning i was fighting against Korea and they were last out of 12 other civilizations. I got the pop up and had to laugh. no idea why i am writing this but it fit the article after i read it
Your game is a prime example of psychic waves pervasively streaming through the ether, SGT Fon. Your game knew what is coming. Just don’t ask it to forecast the results at the local OTB shop.
Per this article from CNBC, it appears that Li’l Emmentaler Fatboy is concerned that we (US) are not paying enough attention to him.

Okay, but an important question hasn’t been answered. The Syrian air base was bombed because it had gas. Does he have gas?
After all that cheese he eats, I’m sure he has gas. Not gonna check, though.
Ahh, Korea. Who can complete the sentence, “If you haven’t been to Pohang…”
*grin*
The Little Dick Nork Dork rides again !!!
They were headed to Australia, and got their liberty port ripped at the last minute?
Oh, there’s about 10,000 sailors and Marines gonna be some kinda pissed off right now.
And no, heading over to Yokosuka afterwards ain’t gonna make up for it.
SEA, concur with your last. ^^^. Been there done that.
Try being at sea for 75 days, heading for PI, and being told no go, typhoon coming, head back for Pearl, and oh yeah, you’ve got a surprise ORSE when you get back.
