Wild Weekend

| March 6, 2017

Not mine.  I stopped having those years ago.  No, it’s the President learning how to play the Washington, complicit media, political hack game, and rope a dope.  He’s also proving he is decent body punching brawler.  He not only exposed the danger to freedom presented by powerful and misused intelligence agencies, but more importantly he exposed the willingness of some members of the American political class to use those powerful capabilities against American citizens – and against their own government.  These communists are more than willing to use police state tactics while calling everyone else a Nazi or communist collaborator.  This threatens the freedom of every American even the nitwits cheering on the Soros funded Obama led attempts to subvert the new administration.

Subversive: tending or intending to subvert or overthrow, destroy, or undermine an established or existing system, especially a legally constituted government or a set of beliefs.

What’s happened really does require some thought.  We know that General Flynn’s telephone conversation with the Russian ambassador was monitored, transcribed, and released to the public.  Supposedly the monitoring was of the Russian which is perfectly fine.  But and it is a big but.  As I understand the law, conversations of American citizens in these cases are kept private and releasing the transcript in any manner is a felony.  Then we learn that Attorney General Sessions while performing his duties as a sitting Senator actually met with the Russian ambassador once at a function and once in his office.  In other words what Senators do every day.  We also know that because of his involvement with the Trump campaign, he recused himself from involvement in investigations of the campaign.

The picture then becomes clearer.  Those trying to undermine or subvert the Trump administration put forth the narrative of collusion with the Russians.   The FBI declared there is no evidence of this, yet the media and Obama surrogates continue to push the story.  A false narrative, drawing the conclusion of Trump campaign involvement with the Russians, is locked in.  The media and those wanting to undermine Trump set out to prove their pre-conceived conclusion, but they cannot produce even a scintilla of evidence supporting the claim.  So the political hacks and the media demand an “independent” investigation and a “special prosecutor.”   This is just perfect for them since Sessions is now recused from investigations involving the Trump campaign and the Senate has not confirmed the new Deputy Attorney General leaving an Obama appointee in charge of any such investigation.  In the catbird’s seat they were.

President Trump alleges that the Obama administration wire tapped Trump Tower prior to the election – searching for evidence to show Russian collusion – we know they were monitoring General Flynn.   Let’s add that if they found such evidence, impeachment proceedings would have already started.  Multiple newspaper accounts indicate the surveillance happened.  You just need to think on that for a bit.  A sitting President (and anyone who thinks he would have no knowledge of this is nuttier than squirrel turds) likely through his weaponized justice department requested FISA court orders to monitor communications of a presidential candidate from the opposing party.  In comparison, this makes Watergate look like the boy scouts. It should cause every American to pause.

Now, there is going to be another investigation into the wire tapping allegation.  Attorney General Sessions has not recused himself from any wire tapping investigations.

Obama and Hillary surrogates put forth a false narrative of Russian collusion, but had no evidence to support the allegation.  It appears that on a second attempt, the Obama Administration got a FISA court order to monitor communications of the Trump campaign treasure hunting for evidence to support the false narrative and apparently there is none.  Now a backfire has put the Obama gang and their media lapdogs on the defensive.

Round three should be exiting.

It would be nice if Trump actually had the smoking gun from time to time while he’s making his twitter thoughts available to the public…

I mean it’s not like he’s a master of the truth himself so accusations of this nature without substantiation appear nothing more than deflection….Trump tells lies as comfortably as Bill Clinton, consequently in accusing the previous administration of a rather serious charge it would seem an accusation without evidence is nothing more than speculative horseshit…

It’s been entertaining so far and it’s not yet been eight weeks…I can’t imagine how exhausting 4-8 years of this might prove.

He has had a rocky start, but one thing he seems to have down pat is jetting off to Camp Margo Legos in the FLA for some golf and relaxin’. Wonder when folks are going to start complaining about his travel and golf schedule?

ex-OS2

Rest assured that the folks will tackle Golfgate soon after Russiagate, Spycameragate, Travelbangate, Deportationgate, Wallgate, Jaredgate, Ivankagate, Sessionsgate, Twittergate, Melaniagate, and Toiletpapergate.

Feel free to replace -gate with -a-lago if it makes you feel more comfy.

While Obama has set the golf outing bar very high (333), they both have nothing on Woodrow Wilson (1200) and Dwight Eisenhower (800).

W2

I am quite sure they will. The other side will always point out and whine about what the President is doing. President Bush going to his ranch to clear brush, President Obama and his golf and now we got Camp Margo Legos. People care about how their side gets treated when in power and then throw rocks when out of power.

Silentium Est Aureum

They already have.

Weekend……da fukk is that, I seem to remember the term, vaguely.

It’s a fiction intended to delude workers into thinking they have time to do the “other duties as required” on the homefront.

I think the Rooskies and the MSMediots planted the rumor that weekends exist.

Weekends? Weekends? We don’t need no stinkin’ weekends….

David

Well, after a bad weekend (had to lay my almost-16 cat buddy to rest) last week, we were called Friday by our best friends from Germany on our 78-79 go-round there – have not talked to them in almost 30 years. May not have been wild but that made it good.

I figure any President who would use the IRS against competition already had taken the moral low ground so no assertion of wrongdoing surprises me.

Elizabeth Conboy

So sorry about your buddy, David. I know too well how that feels. You must have loved that little guy, and I’m sure he loved you. We’ve loved and nurtured 14 dogs and one cat in our 52 years together, and each one was sooo special to us. It’s heartbreaking to lose one. Bless you.

MAJ Arkay

Sorry about your feline buddy. Had to let go of our 20-year-old tuxedo cat on 20 Jan. Place doesn’t feel the same without his presence.

JD, this whole mess is about not allowing Trump to get his administration up and running. It is a sneaky, underhanded ploy by the Democrats to vent their anger over losing the election. The problem for them is that it is so transparently sneaky and underhanded, and above all, a huge violation of the rules of fair play, which most Americans still believe in. Even many center left independents believe that Trump deserves a chance, at the very least, to establish his administration.

With their adolescent, angry outbursts and destructive protests, the Democrats continue to alienate more of Middle America, ordinary folks who are put off by such childish antics.

They are going to pay for it in 2018.

Ex-PH2

They’re already starting to pay for it, Poetrooper.

LC

I believe Trump deserves a chance and I sincerely hope he does well – not out of any love for him, but love for this country. That said, I don’t see how Democrats are responsible for Trump’s twitter-rants, and this one seems absent any real evidence.

Even Chaffetz is saying he’s seen no evidence, Comey has said the DOJ to refute it, former DNI Clapper says it’s hogwash… oh, but Mark Levin says there’s proof, so there ya go. Give me some respectable senior Republicans who say they’ve seen proof and I’ll start giving this more credit. In the meantime, it seems like a President buying into a conspiracy theory.

The Democrats may be stupid, but this claim doesn’t rest at their feet.

Perry Gaskill

My own view is that the news media is making the same mistake now that it made prior to the election. They’re taking Trump literally on his Twitter comments instead of understanding that what he is saying is directed to his audience, and not to the news media. An audience also likely to follow, say, Breitbart which the mainstream news media does not.

An example is that if Kim Jong Un fires missles at the Sea of Japan, it would not be uncommon for somebody on TAH to say, “The creepy fat kid should be drowned in a vat of bad kim chee.” But if Trump said the same thing as a joke on Twitter, you can make odds that the headline in The New York Times the following morning would be:

Trump Orders Death Of Foreign Leader

It’s also a stretch to use a sweeping “it’s hogwash” when it comes to the available evidence because there are multiple issues. Is there evidence some Russian entity messed with Podesta’s e-mail? Such is likely to be true. Did the DOJ or DNI find a direct link between the Trump campaign and what happened to Podesta? It’s plausible no such link was found. Did the DOJ or DNI actually look for a link between Trump and the Russians? I’d say the chances are good they did, although such efforts might not have taken the form of a telephone wiretap.

LC

I think that would’ve been a fair point had the White House not essentially doubled down on his tweets verbatim – there’s virtually no mistaking that President Trump believes Obama wiretapped his phones, and the implied understanding is that it was done without evidence – that is, as a political issue. Any reading that Trump was speaking metaphorically or intentionally exaggerating things has to reckon with the reality that the subsequent stories give no indication of that.

I do agree that the media has this problem any time President Trump speaks with superlatives, like, “Nobody builds walls better than me”, he doesn’t mean he’s literally the best person in the world at building walls. Such a claim is obviously crazy. But there’s been plenty of time to clarify his statements, and given the ties it has to Levin’s show, it seems his tweets exactly represent his thoughts.

And I think ex-DNI Clapper’s comments (which I termed ‘hogwash’, not him) were that if such a request was made, he’d have known, thus it’s pretty damn unlikely to be true. The problem is in the details. At this point, three scenarios seem possible – 1) there was no wiretap, and if that’s the case then the President really needs to reevaluate his sources, 2) there was a wiretap, but it had probably cause – that’s a big can of worms for Trump right there, or 3) there was a wiretap and there was no probably cause for it, in which case the Obama administration has a lot of explaining to do.

Absent any evidence, I think conservatives would lean towards 3 and liberals would lean towards 1 or 2. But given the evidence towards three seems to be one very conservative talk-show host’s claims, and the evidence against seems to be the word of several very high profile people, all of whom would be in deep shit and have their careers over if they lied, I’m inclined to lean towards this not being true.

Which means the President is pushing a major conspiracy theory, and that’s pretty fucking ridiculous.

Ex-PH2

So, I guess it has’nt occurred to you, LC, that Trump is yanking the left’s chain?

Okay.

LC

Yanking the Left’s chain by clamoring for a Congressional investigation? If that’s yanking a chain, I hate to tell you, but it seems more and more likely the other side of the chain is tied to his own administration.

Basically, if his allegations are true and there was no justification for a tap, Obama and company are in deep trouble. In every other scenario, which seems more likely at this point, Trump looks like an insecure, conspiratorial chump. How does that help him? Or, more importantly, the country?

11B-Mailclerk

You might be surprised. This “join the monkeywrench party” crap is catnip to the lefty base.

Classic lefty strategy is to -wreck- a society, then offer a “better” way to govern, if folks will just vote for Chancellor Palpatine of The Left-Sith party.

Hmmm “Left-Siths”……. Hmm. That actually works. A bit awkward to say aloud, but rather accurate.

IMO, as I have suggested previously POTUS is acting as if he has been caught at something and is deflecting the attention in his wild tweeter rants. I remember watching the Nixon Watergate hearings, and am proud to state that I met the President while assigned to the American Embassy Paris France the week President Sadat was assassinated. Regardless of my political party leaning, I was filled with a sense of pride in meeting an American leader who cared about the future of the American people. It is a moment I will never forget, especially when I arrived back in CONUS and received a book he personally autographed for me….That being said, the current POTUS is acting as if this is a cover-up of something…The FBI is obviously in the middle of a highly sensitive investigation at the highest level of our government. What is the real truth that has forced the resignation of the NSA and the reclusion of the AG. And lastly, the Republican pp arty has defeated the Democrats in effectively blocking any normal procedural attempts in perusing the POTUS’s taxes. Why? I think this was clear up this question that was posed at the very beginning. POTUS stated more than once that he would release them after his audit, but in the meantime he took measures to ensure they would remain sealed. Say what you will about Obama, but POTUS is acting like he has something damaging to hide. I am certain of it, I just hope it isn’t treasonous.

reddevil

Nonsense. Of course the FBI monitored the Trump campaign- they were talking to the Russians. I would be angry if they didn’t.

The FBI does not generally monitor the communications of US citizens. However, the NSA routinely monitors entities hostile to the US, and if those entities were in contact with a US Citizen they would share that information with the FBI.

This hasn’t always been the case, but he way- it’s one of the big changes we made after 9/11 when the CIA had information that could have tipped the FBI to look closer at the hijackers. But I digress.

Espionage is a crime, and a US citizen contacting Russian officials would have given the FBI the probable cause to start some very basic unobtrusive surveillance and probably approach a FISA court to take it to the next level. This all would have happened without going to the White House for permission- it is totally within the FBI’s purview.

Therefore, to say that the ‘Obama administration ordered wiretaps’ is either ignorant of how things actually work or deliberately obtuse.

So, of course the FBI monitored the Trump campaign- that’s their job. The Russians have definitely attempted to interfere in the election, but not necessarily to get Trump elected. Their intent is to erode the American people’s trust in the government and decrease US prestige in the word as a democracy- it’s hard to preach democracy to a potential new NATO member when our democracy looks like a clown car to the rest of the world. Look up Russian Hybrid war or the Gerasimov doctrine.

Every stupid Trump tweet helps the Russian cause. For the love of God someone please take his blackberry away.

David

OK, so the FBI is right in monitoring the campaign because someone on the campaign actually talked to a Russian. So where is the FBI monitoring of he Clinton campaign and the Clinton Foundation? They were apparently out whoring to anyone with the $2 price of admission.

LC

I’d think it was the NSA that was monitoring the Russians, and if the FBI was involved it was because the NSA found something in the conversations (with Americans like Flynn) that warranted additional investigation.

If people from the Clinton Foundation were talking to foreigners, you better believe the NSA was listening in. And if something question was discovered in those conversations, the FBI would probably get involved.

Hell, when I talk with international friends, I’m sure the NSA analyzes the calls. And they’re generally just ordinary people. If I talked to a friend in a foreign government, it’d get a lot more scrutiny. And if I ever said something of questionable nature, … well, the FBI would get involved.

David

Don’t forget the CIA, according to Wikileaks’ latest dum they have a far more sophisticated electronic monitoring set-up than has been on record to date – supposedly its capabilities rival those of NSA, which is impressive.

Remember the old days when if an American was found to be part of a monitored overseas communication, it required special permission even to listen to what they said?

LC

Rival, and in some cases surpass what we know of NSA’s toolset. I’ve been reading up on some of this and I’m pretty surprised at the extent of their capabilities.

It’ll be interesting to see what comes of this.
