“We want the Venezuela we had 20 years ago”
Looks like the heirs of Hugo Chavez might be in a bit of trouble. The picture below – of a demonstration yesterday in Caracas demanding the recall of “El Presidente” Nicolas Maduro – pretty much says it all:
The LA Times has a reasonably short article describing the situation. It’s worth a few minutes of your time.
Let’s hope the people of Venezuela can take back their country from the corrupt ruling Communist Chavenista Politburo. They deserve better than they have today under the rule of that bunch of leftist idiots.
Category: Hugo Chavez
If only someone would grab Maduro and his pals and throw them to the wolves – er, crowd.
How long before the Army decides Marduro and the rest of the Chavez bunch are more trouble than they’re worth? I’m thinking that, since the rebellion began a couple years ago in Caracas with street fighting (about when they ran out of toilet paper), it won’t be long.
How long before the Venezuelan Army acts?
When they stop being fed.
Possibly as soon as they think that their families will starve.
First comment in the linked story:
“Where is Sean Penn?”
Scrolls down:
“Make Venezuela great again.”
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!
Any more greatness like they have now, and they will all be living in mud huts.
Yea I couldn’t imagine paying 10 bucks for a roll of toilet paper to
???
Just wait. Cutting trees to make paper? They will soon want to discourage that. Use your hand and wash, like other folks around the world.
Think I am kidding? Think again. Ten bucks a roll may be cheap.
There’s always the local Sunday newspaper.
Hell, other than comics and coupons that’s about all many of them are good for these days. (smile)
Aha. John Wayne TP.
It is rough.
It is tough.
It won’t take crap off anyone.
ANYBODY who objects to logging should switch to either plastic toilet paper or a live Spotted Owl.
Oh, but toilet paper is made from recycled other paper, as is newsprint, which also goes into the production of paper towels and toilet paper.
The trees used in paper production are pulpwood pines, specifically raised in pulpwood plantations to turn out paper products. There’s no environmental impact there.
And paper produced for the Bureau of Printing and Engraving for use in printing paper money is made from cotton and linen, specifically old denim jeans. Bales and bales of old jeans. No trees involved there, at all.
Commissar could!
Yeah, but it won’t get his butt wiped any cleaner, will it?
I guess those common folks did not try Socialism hard enough, or put the right Comissars in charge of it, or use the right modifier (Democratic, Third Way, etc).
We will now be told by the mavens of Marx that next time it will be done right, it is not their fault, and we were sabotaging it anyway.
Sabotage? Right Comrade! If the People ever learn what great wealth and comfort exist in proper Socialism, they would reject the Capitalist poverty and drive out the running dog Capitalists, allowing Socialism to flourish.
The thing to remember, is for every would-be-Comissar that knows it is really a con, intended to make Commissar Dickhead powerful then wealthy, there are ten more fellow-travelers who actually beleive the claptrap. Comisar Dickhead is counting on them for shock troops.
Well, I’m not certain that our resident proponent of “whatever” socialism really does know that it’s a con. He’s more like Eric Hoffer’s “True Believer”, which is pathetic but it’s still fun to mock him.
For the record he favors what he calls “market socialism”, which is apparently similar to “unicorn socialism”, but with slightly fewer unicorns.
AKA, “Useful Idiots.”
Stop voting for socialists and liberals.
Hang the ones in power.
Never, ever give up your guns again.

You do -not- want Revolution in your neighborhood.
SINCE WHEN has Socialism ever done anything other than put the masses in poverty and shortages while a very select few live in the lap of luxury? Let’s not forget that THE richest person in Venezuela is none other than Chavez’s daughter. HEY, where’s our “expert” on the so-called “virtues of Socialism”? I bet he hasn’t the balls to sound off on this thread.
He’s taking a nap, API. Don’t wake him out of his coma. Life is much more pleasant when no one throws out those lures.
AMEN to that, Ex-PH2, pigeon-heads like that always believe it WILL work if it’s given JUST one more chance.
Tyrants should not die of old age or pass away in their sleep
Isn’t there a saying to the effect that the blood of tyrants waters the fields of liberty?
Graybeard: I think this may be the quotation you’re referencing.
“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.”
— Thomas Jefferson, Letter to William Smith, Paris, Nov 13, 1787
I wish it were otherwise, but Mr. Jefferson would appear to be a prophet wrt this.
That’s the one, Hondo.
I guess my memory isn’t too bad yet.
“Hemp” or “lead” poisoning usually does them in….
Rifle, pistol, shotgun, Bow and Arrow, crossbow, spear, knife, sword, dagger, Claymore Mine, artillery, Machine Gun, punji pit, tiger trap, rocket, bomb, booby trap, land mine, WP Grenade, Frag Grenade, napalm, icepick, Molotov Cocktail, rocket launcher, grenade launcher, poison, lethal electric shock, lynching, flamethrower, Air Attack, and a rusty screwdriver should be SOME OF the approved methods of harvesting a tyrant from the ranks of the living.
Gosh, why hasn’t the major news agencies been covering this? Seems like it would be a pretty important story.
I guess we will never know.
It goes against their line of dazed acceptance of moonbeams, pocket lint, dust bunnies and dried-up cat turds.
The article is interesting in its nod to the dumping of Rousseff in Brazil, and the right-sided political change in Argentina and Peru.
I wonder IF this news report will be ignored as usual by the majority of libretard US media, or if it will spread further. Should be interesting.
It looks like that curse has begun to fall on the world: May you live in interesting times.
You might see it on Telemundo or Univision first before the Clinton News Network.
My friend from Venezuela talked about this yeas ago. She said the masses voted in communism. She escaped to America but her entire family lost all their businesses and most of their property. The “m”asses are getting what they voted for good and hard. Unfortunately the other 48% are also getting it along with them. Does this percentage of idiots voting for communism sound familiar?
I’m sure Kqueen Kankles would never let this happen here.
Like my grandpa used to say, every nation has the ruler it deserves.
Chavez won with the support of those same people who now want maduro gone.
The root of all evil is collectivism.
As long as people think it might work, we will have socialists winning elections.
Look at Zerobama and the numbers he got in 08. Even accounting for all the dead voters and other cheats, way too many Americans voted for him.
Why?
“Obamaphones” and Skittle-shitting unicorns?
I wonder how many got their’s?
I’m absolutely sure that a LOT of dead people in locales like Chicago voted for B. Hussein 0bama but hey, dumpy-rats ALWAYS get the Zombie Vote!
Maybe Bernie Sanders still has a chance to be President?
If he hurries I’m sure he can make it and make Venezuela the great Socialist paradise it was born to be?

hell, I want the waistline I had 20 years ago…guess we’re all going to be disappointed
Corrupt political economic models fail.
In other news water is wet.
However, the top 7 least corrupt nations are all market socialist democracies.
The US is not even in the top ten least corrupt and has been slipping in corruption indexes.
Our political economy has become highly corrupt by the standards of a democracy.
And the reason is finance influence on our political system coupled with greed. And they leveraged America’s mindless trust in capitalist rhetoric to buy our government and disenfranchise our population. To the extent that the preferences of American voters now has a negligible impact on national policy and our international foreign policies.
Whenever you mix greed with concentrated power or unaccountable power you get corruption.
And trusting out plutocracy with the power we have merely because they call it “capitalism” is idiotic.
Just as trusting the Chavez regime with the power it had merely because it called itself “communist” is idiotic.
Oh, you still don’t have a job in the private sector, Poodledick?
Damn! I go run an errand the store and come home to find that he’s picked another spot to lift his leg.
Frankly, lars, you incredible moron, the MOST corrupt person on the planet is YOU. You need to go back to the shrink and discuss your most recent textbook symptoms with him, so that when you show up with another version of YOUR Munchausen syndrome, you’ll have it all down pat.
Have a slainte nach weekend, Poodle.
Your idiotic assumption that only people who have jobs in the private sector have a right to an opinion is ridiculous, and offensive to people who were career military on this board or career public service. The most “corrupt” person is me? You psychopathic shitbag. I have biopsies, blood tests, and imaging PROVING my diagnosis as well as three endocrinologists (one active duty), two gastroenterologists (one active duty) and an allergist as well as my primary care physician. So fuck off with your ignorant attitude about shit you are too small minded to even try to understand. I was advised to file a VA claim for years and didn’t because I was interested only in getting diagnosed and getting better. Not interested in being regarded as “disabled”. Even though I was still under my 5 year VA post deployment for FREE medical coverage, I paid thousands in copays out of pocket using private insurance for a service connected illness because I did not know what it was, did not have a diagnosis and did not want use the VA system. I turned to the VA when it became financially unsustainable due to the fact that it was a multiple immune system disease AND because it was CLEAR that it was service connected (Veterans have a rate of this syndrome more than 800% higher than the general population of the same age). And even then I did not assume I would not get better through treatment so I STILL did not file a claim. I finally filed in May of this year when the VA explicitly advised me that my treatment options were being effected by the fact that I had not filed and the VA had not made a service connection determination and I was not 30% disabled. If I had filed a claim I would have at least 30% due to physical injuries surgeries from 20+ years of service. I had never filed for multiple orthopedic injuries to my back, both shoulders, head, and both knees. With orthoopedists, brain TBI/specialist, an occupational health doctor, and imaging proving those injuries.… Read more »
Holy shit Lars, did you sign a HIPAA release form for that diatribe?
Lars, you INCREDIBLE MORON! You’re supposed to file a claim with the VA the minute you get your walking papers, WHETHER YOU HAVE A DISABILITY OR NOT. Without that, you don’t get the GI Bill or anything else.
As always, you’re 10 years late and a whole lotta cash short because YOU don’t have the common sense God gave a bag of marshmallows.
A job in the private sector is NOT a qualifier for having an opinion, idiot stick. A job in the private sector means that you’ve found something to do with your time besides annoy people.
You spend more time looking down your nose at other people and belittling their accomplishments than you do working on anything useful.
You’re just a boring, beastly, bourgeois, babbity, blowhard snob.
Next we’ll see him blaming Bush for the shape Venezuela is in!
And he still can’t spell, can’t differentiate between ‘effect’ and ‘affect’.
Both can be active verbs as well as nouns. Both can be used in the same sentence, so long as their distinct meanings are observed in usage, for example: The EFFECT (noun) of a severe storm will have an AFFECT (noun) on the lives of the people in its path.
One may EFFECT (verb) changes in rules, but it’s a good idea to consider how they will AFFECT (verb) the people who are impacted by them.
Geezo Pete, all that grad school tuition and he still has poor comprehension of English. Should have been taken care of in 4th grade, which is when MY 4th grade schoolteacher gave us lessons in how to differentiate between words that sound alike (homonyms), but have different meanings. In this case, both EFFECT and AFFECT have multiple uses as verbs and nominative nouns. I guess I just had better grade school teachers than Lars did.
Damn, forgot to add this to my comment at the end. My bad for not proofreading before clicking.
I made an intentional mistake in one of those paragraphs above. The smart people will find it and point and giggle, and nod wisely and knowingly.
Perhaps I expect too much of the poodle. I don’t know. The amusement factor wears off after a while.
So why don’t you go to Venezuela to help them understand that what they are living is good for them.
Preach your stupid shit there dickwad, we damn sure don’t want it, don’t need it, and we damn sure don’t believe anything that you support.
Teach them how they are saving the planet and that this way of life is the best for everyone in the country…
The truest thing about socialism is that it demands that everybody, save a select few remain poor, and powerless while the geniuses like you fuckface stay in the lap of luxury…
Fuck you…
I am not a communist. I do not support dictators. And I do not support corrupt governments.
IMHO the only difference between Communism and Socialism is that Socialism is installed via conned and rigged votes while Communism is forced at gunpoint. BOTH are utter and complete failures.
Maybe, just MAYBE, Poodledick, you should try reading for comprehension instead of changing the subject.
Nowhere in Thunderstixx’s comment did he mention the word ‘communism’.
Again, you score a big, fat zero (-0-) in reading and general comprehension.
No, lostcause, you’re not. You’re a Socialist. In their heyday, Soviet Communists would have referred to you as a polezniye durak – a “useful fool”, generally translated in English as “useful idiot”. And you’d have been one of the first ones they sent to the gulag (or shot) if they’d have managed to take power. Socialism and Communism share the same underlying flaws – indeed, Socialism can aptly be called “Communism-lite”. As their core, both systems reject the concepts of limited government and the primacy of individual rights. Each believes that the state – not the individual – is the source of authority and power, and that the state comes first. Respect for individual rights is incidental, and can be dispensed with when “inconvenient”. Those who do not conform to the state’s dictats will be “dealt with appropriately”. The problem? Since the state is supreme and run by those who are “true believers” and “elite”, it has no bounds on its power or actions. Socialist regimes (neither the Soviet Union nor Communist China were truly communist – they were “temporary” socialist dictatorships “necessary to achieve true communism”) have thus led to the most murderous regimes on earth. That’s true even when the Socialism in question was non-communist – for example, in both Italian Facism and Nazi Germany. Both were early examples of centrally planned and directed economic systems where the means of production were allowed by the state to remain in private hands, under central “regulation”, with some degree of free market economy distributing goods and services (under strict government regulation, of course). In short, they were early examples of your favorite term du jour “market socialism”. They were nearly as bad in terms of wanton murder as the murderous Socialist regimes based on Communism – higher rate, but much shorter duration and this far fewer murders overall. Socialist regimes often lead to repressive, authoritarian central governments. Indeed, when based on Communist political philosophy, they appear to do so uniformly. That, fool, is why both Socialism and Communism are manifestly bad frameworks on which to base national governments. They might… Read more »
Lostcause (Lars): “I was just hoping you might give me some insight into the evolution of the market economy in the southern colonies. My contention is that prior to the Revolutionary War, the economic modalities, especially in the southern colonies, could most aptly be characterized as agrarian precapitalism…”
Ex-PH2: (interrupting) “Of course that is your contention…”
Lostcause: “Hold on a second…”
Ex-PH2: “You’re a first year grad student. You just got finished reading some Marxian Historian, Pete Garrison probably. You’re gonna’ be convinced of that until next month when you get to James Lemon, then you’re gonna’ be talking about how the economies of Virginia and Pennsylvania were entrepreneurial and capitalist way back in 1740. That’s gonna’ last until next year, you’re gonna’ be in here regurgitating Gordon Wood, talking about ya know, the Pre-Revolutionary utopia and the capital forming effects of military mobilization.”
Lostcause: “Well, as a matter of fact I won’t because Wood drastically underestimates the impact of social…”
Ex-PH2: (interrupting) “Wood drastically… Wood drastically underestimates the impact of social distinctions predicated upon wealth, especially inherited wealth. You got that from Vickers. “Work in Essex County”, page 98, right? Yeah, I read that too. Were you going to plagiarize the whole thing for us? Do you have any thoughts of your own on this matter? Or do you, is that you thing, you come into a bar, you read some obscure passage, and then pretend, you pawn it off as your own, as your own idea just to impress some girl and embarrass my friend? You see, the sad thing about a guy like you is that in 50 years, you’re gonna start doing some thinking on your own and you’re gonna come up with the fact that there are two certainties in life. One: don’t do that. And two: you dropped a 150 grand on a fuckin’ education you could have gotten for a dollar fifty in late charges at the public library.”
??
(Gigglesnort!)
Master Sergeant, I am honored.
Whenever you pump his brakes, I always envision that scene playing out.
Fuggin’ priceless and hysterical.
And yes, you and lots of others here are damn smart
And you wrote the funniest thing I have seen since last Tuesday.
There is so much funny stuff posted here, and you added another legendary portion to it.
“you dropped a 150 grand on a fuckin’ education you could have gotten for a dollar fifty in late charges at the public library.”
That is some piss your pants, motherfucking funny shit, USMCMSgt (Ret)
LOL
🙂
If that’s what he “learned” then IMHO he ought to sue for a tuition refund. ?
Freaking great movie.
Do you like Apples?!?
USMCMSgt (Ret)REALLY good to see someone with a good command of the English language
stop Comrade Poodle Dik dead in his tracks! You make me proud!
I can’t take credit for that at all. It’s the dialogue from the bar scene in “Good Will Hunting “.
Lars/lostcause – show the link to this quote from above:
“However, the top 7 least corrupt nations are all market socialist democracies.”
Just a link… as a grad student, didn’t you learn to back up your info with a reference or three? If you want to be taken a little more seriously (I don’t know if that can happen, but there is a chance), back up your statements with a link to a paper, book or, God-forbid, Wikipedia. Every time you post something so outlandish, you give everyone the impression that you pulled it out of your ass and then go on a tirade when nobody believes you.
Also, there are a few of us here that do have grad school degrees and have the common sense God gave to a goose to spot lies, falsehoods and half-truths (I have an MBA myself, thanks to the Post 9/11 GI Bill). Don’t “pontificate and postulate”, but have the courage to back up what you post with something – it gets really damn old seeing you rant and rave when people don’t agree with you.
As far as your health issues, I do hope that there is a point where they can be managed so you can have a normal lifestyle. From my experience, I have to live my life around IBS, and it isn’t fun many days of the week.
Senior Chief, isn’t IBS deflated somewhat by adding stuff like old-fashioned rolled oatmeal to your diet?
Just asking.
For me, some things work, then it doesn’t, then after a break I can do ok with it again. About the only constant is that I have no problems with bagels.
IBS is a functional disorder vs a structural disorder. It is not simply a matter of diet. Changing food based on individual trial and error can help, but there’s not specific foods or dietary regimen that will specifically aggravate or ameliorate the symptoms for everybody.
Well, then, as Ben Franklin would say: Fart proudly!
Aye, aye, Ex-PH2! 🙂

I am surprised Obummer and the boys (and girls) have not given them a loan to “help them out”.
You know, “fix” the problem and all….
Probably send a ton of bucks and a cadre of Ivy League geniuses to ‘advise’ them how to deal with their problem.
Maybe not a loan to Venezuela, but he’s certainly thrown the Cuba commies a lifeline. It seems they were getting a lot of heavily subsidized oil from Venezuela-until the Venezuelan economy tanked that is. So the Cuban regime was in a pickle-until Obama decided to open relations and remove the sanctions, now they’ve got lots of Gringo dollars coming in to prop up the regime.
It may backfire-a man can hope-but it sure was fortunate for the Castros that the sanctions ended when they did.
