Khizr Khan and Patricia Smith; Gold Star wars
Two weeks ago, Patricia Smith spoke at the Republican National Convention and laid the death of her son, Sean, in the Benghazi consulate, at the feet of Hillary Clinton.
The Democrats retaliated the following week at their convention by inviting Khizr Khan to speak to Donald Trump’s plan to blockade immigrants from the Middle East. Khan’s son, Humayun Khan, had bravely given his life in Iraq in 2004 when he caused a bomb-laden taxi to detonate before it was in a position to kill troops who were eating in the nearby dining facility.
I posted this on Facebook yesterday to illustrate how the media viewed both events;
CNN’s Josh Rogin on Gold Star mother Patricia Smith at the RNC: I feel for Pat Smith, but the RNC and Trump are using her and her son’s death for politics and that’s wrong.
CNN’s Josh Rogin on Gold Star father Khizr Khan at the DNC: But here’s the thing. Muslim-Americans, not very well represented either in Congress, in public life. They don’t organize politically for some pretty obvious reasons. Right? This is a rare opportunity to take a look at this community, and we all know that is patriotic, that does serve our country, that does die for our country.
When Republicans do it, it’s political stunt, but, when the Democrats do it, it’s a “rare opportunity”.
Our buddy, Denise Williams, herself a Gold Star mother, sends this video message to Mr. Khan (you’ll need to turn the volume way up or use earphones);
Category: Politics
CPT Kahn’s grave at Arlington has been turned into a shrine by the moonbats and BLM members.
Reminds me of Cindy Sheehan, who the media continuously harped was a saint with ABSOLUTE MORAL AUTHORITY when she was attacking the Bush Administration. But as soon as obamao and co. took over and she continued to protest, then the media dropped her like a soiled kleenex and she disappeared off the face of the earth…
He can wave the constitution all he likes, but it doesn’t say that we have to let in more immigrants, or immigrants from any particular background, or any immigrants at all. The “plenary power” doctrine is the rule, and the political branches can do pretty much what they like on immigration.
This Khan thing pisses me off mostly because it allows Democrats to act like the party of patriots and the military, which is bullshit.
You can’t see it, but this is my shocked face.
The Clinton News Network shilling for the DNC and not the RNC? I feel shocked….
Mr. Trump is standing on his dick. He seems to be jumping up and down so maybe there is some sort of delayed reaction to the pain. I suggest that he take a step to get off. Apologize, it won’t hurt as much as standing on your dick.
Apologize. . . . for what? Stating the obvious? That this country needs to get its “immigration” problem under control?
That Cpt Khan was killed in the line of duty? What did Trump have to do with that?
It’s just a hunch, but I think you spelled your name wrong, Dick.
Hillary lied to Mrs. Smith repeatedly. To. Her. Face. Looked her in the eye and lied. Lied to you. Lied to The United States of America. Repeatedly.
Apparently you’re ok with that.
I see I wasn’t the only one who noticed the ironic coincidence of comment and screen name.
Okay Hondo, you use a name associated with John Wayne and you want to pick on me for my screen name – yeah, whatever. You apparently think that it is okay for Trump to attack a gold star family. I don’t give a flying fuck in a forest fire what Hillary did but denigrating the sacrifice made by a gold star family is, in my opinion, unacceptable. Apparently that is acceptable to you. That seems a little weird for someone who posts in support of our military.
Problem is, Trump didn’t attack a Gold Star family. The DNC used a Gold Star family to attack Trump. See the difference?
All of my many words are captured in your few, SFC D.
We can ALL see where you get your info dickie……
That’s the whole fucking point, Einstein.
Had Hillary and Obumbles allowed our forces to go in and secure the consulate, those four lives may not have been lost.
Even if they had, at least SOMEONE stateside would be able to claim they did something to help.
Fella, had I wanted to “pick on you” regarding your screen name I’d have done so – at least a half hour before anyone else made the connection. I considered noting the irony about someone calling themselves “Richard” referring to someone else as “standing on their dick”, but decided lampooning you on that point wasn’t worth the effort. I only noted it in passing after someone else pointed out the connection.
You’re entitled to your opinion, Richard. But as I noted above: it wasn’t Trump that used CPT Khan’s death as a political prop. It was his own parents – or, more likely, his own father – who did so.
That’s low. It’s even lower when one realizes it was done explicitly to support one candidate (Clintoon) via using his own son’s unfortunate death as a way to attack the other candidate (Trump) – who was someone who didn’t have a damn thing to do with his son’s death.
Given what I know now, I am hard pressed to believe that the elder Khan is some “innocent” who’s been “wronged”. Rather, IMO at worst he’s a political insider and operative with connections to the Clintoons; at best he was a willing “plant”. He and the Clintoon camp were cynically depending on his family’s loss over a decade ago shielding him from either criticism for or scrutiny of his current actions. They guessed wrong.
“Can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.” “Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.” “Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.” However you choose to phrase it, Khan ignored that old wisdom. And now it’s his turn to answer some pointed questions – questions that he brought on himself by becoming a public political operative willing to politicize his own son’s death.
Khan stepped into the arena of his own free will when he decided to publicize his own son’s premature death in Iraq. He may well now find it’s not as easy to walk out as it is to walk in.
And now he has walled himself off and disappeared….he may have realized he was set up just as the Trunpster was.
HRC lied to Charlie Woods, Ty Woods’ dad as well. Said basically the same thing to both parents– “We’re gonna GET that guy who made the video.”
If the British Daily Mail got it right, all four were brought home from Benghazi on the same transport.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2203298/Victims-Benghazi-massacre-return-home-Obama-Clinton-pay-tribute.html
So that means Hell-ary ran from family
to family that day, repeating the same lie.
The voters seem to have such short attention spans and even shorter memories. “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it” (Santayana). Just plain sad.
I am not talking about what Hillary did, I am talking about what Trump did. No, I am not okay with what Hillary did but that is not the point. I am talking about Trump attacking a gold star family. I don’t care what the father did or what his connections are, under no circumstances whatsoever is it acceptable to denigrate their sacrifice. Apparently you think that it is okay to do that. Would you care to explain how that is okay SFC?
Truman said it best: “If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.”
Politicizing their own son’s death by using it as a political prop is IMO reprehensible. The fact that they willingly did so makes it fair game to point out the facts concerning (1) their past connections to Clintoon (the man formerly worked at a law firm that did work for the Clintoons); (2) his connections to the government of Saudi Arabia (his former firm was a registered agent for the Saudi government, and still is); and (3) his writings in support of Sharia (which makes his use of the US Constitution as a political prop during his scripted speech odious as hell).
Oh, and did I mention that he’s apparently a political operative as well? See cptsmith’s comment below regarding the Internet domain Khan registered within the past few weeks.
I’m sorry their son died in Iraq. But they are the ones who chose to politicize their son’s death by using it as a political prop at the DNC.
“I am not talking about what Hillary did, I am talking about what Trump did.” No, you’re not. What you are talking about is what the liberal/progressive/commie bastards and their apologists fabricated as talking points. In fact, you are using their very words.
Comeon, dickie, do an “over and out” and come back tomorrow…..
“I am talking about Trump attacking a gold star family.” He didn’t.
“under no circumstances whatsoever is it acceptable to denigrate their sacrifice.” He didn’t.
Hey Dick, try watching GSM Denise’s video. And then watch that ridiculous speech by that hack Kahn. HE denigrated his son’s sacrifice. HE brought shame on himself and his wife. HE all but forgot his son’s sacrifice in the speech and only used it as a pawn. He’s a sick man.
Mr. Khan stepped into the batter’s box of his own volition, took a mighty swing, and took a fastball to the noggin. You play the game, sometimes it hurts.
I refuse to allow the progressive/commie/left bastards dictate how I am to feel and think in reaction to Trump’s few words which neither attacked not insulted a Gold Star Family.
Captain Kahn served. Captain Kahn protected his men. Captain Kahn sacrificed himself rather than order a subordinate to check that explosive-laden vehicle out.
This is so sick it is beyond words and I refuse to play the Left’s game, the bastards.
I heard on the radio this morning that the Kahn’s wanted out of the drama.
I feel for their loss, but they should’ve known the DNC was just using them.
Now they own it.
Once you are pimped out that is it, you are in the game.
Exactly. Once you’ve sold yourself as a media whore, just take the money off the nightstand and shuttup. CPT Khan deserves a better memorial than being used by the DNC.

Walid Shoebat is the real deal. As a teenager he was a palistinian terrorist/bomber; he later emigrated (legally) to the US and converted to Christianity (a death sentence under sharia law). Check out his website, linked above. I saw him speak and met him at a university campus over ten years ago. The Muslim Student Association (MSA), a Muslim Brotherhood org, tried unsuccessfully to block his talk.
As for Mr. Kahn, aside from ideology, Mr. Kahn makes big bucks in fees for representing Muslims wishing to emigrate here under E2 and HB2 visas. He also is connected to the same law firm which employed Loretta Lynch. As a DC lawyer he has a substantial financial interest in seeing the Democrats stay in power. Trump’s position of temporarily suspending Muslim emigration from Islamic terrorism infected countries would put a sizeable dent in his income.
(Re: Last sentence)
DING DING DING!
We have a winner!
They (really he b/c the wife does not act or think for herself, it appears) volunteered themselves. Do you think that the DNC just happened upon Kahn? Sure, the same was the Left just happened upon Cindy Sheehan, I suppose.
The Donald just can’t make a warm & gracious statement when dealing w/ attacks & provocations. He’s impulsive, ultra thin skinned, and constantly needing to settle scores. He just takes the roach bait like clockwork, and the Dems really should keep goading him – they have a winning game plan here.
I was listening to Trump’s response to Warren Buffett’s jabs about his business acumen this morning…facepalm – goodlawd just embarrassing. Why get in a spat w/ Warren Buffet?
Another classic Trump was after the RNC convention, and as the GOP presidential nominee, he spent like 15 minutes during a presser the next day relitigating his feud w/ Ted Cruz…why?
It’s going to an impossibly tough decision in November.
If you take the time to Google this matter of Trump, in an effort to learn precisely what he said, you will have a hard time finding that information. However, you will not have any trouble finding characterizations of Trump’s words as an attack on the parents, shameless ridicule and myriad other pejoratives. So, what exactly did Trump say that fabricated such an uproar? He wondered whether the Gold Star Mom was permitted to speak. I wonder that, too. My take is that she and her husband were used as props, not unlike the parents of you-know-who in the Rose Garden. Recent history teaches us non-Muslims that where there is a husband and a wife and an issue regarding their son, Dad’s voice is the only one heard, just as Dad’s body is not hidden. I guess it’s a Muslim thing, “just stand there and be quiet, woman.” I don’t know. Trump should not have said anything, but no one has ever accused him of being a classy guy. He’s a NY big mouth, but this orgasmic delight of the Dems and other Trump haters to his words is out of proportion to his sin. Benghazi.
Word.
I think this is the fundamental issue – to many on the Left, assuming an American Muslim woman can’t speak without the permission of her husband is as backwards as assuming, say, that all gay men are effeminate. It’s a stereotype born out of a lack of familiarity with a wider culture where that’s true in some cases, and often the most noticeable ones, but hardly the majority, and immediately making that assumption is considered insulting.
At a higher level, this is similar to the broad divide in how people view Muslims – for some, they’re primarily a product of their religion (and a religion where currently the most noticeable adherents are a bunch of ass-backwards psychopaths), and for others they’re primarily a product of their culture. And that culture varies greatly depending on whether you’re talking an American, westernized Muslim who watches baseball and grabs a beer after work or a Syrian with a 15th-century mentality who wants to kill anyone who thinks differently.
For the record, Mrs. Khan said she simply didn’t speak because she was afraid she’d be too emotional – if you’ve ever had to speak about people whom you’ve lost, surely that’s understandable.
Were the Khans used as props? Absolutely. And Mr. Trump, in his infinitely lacking wisdom, basically attacked their relationship and their religion via stereotypes rather than simply tell them he was very sorry for their loss and (if he wanted to get political) pivot into how we need to offer better protection to our troops, and how he’d provide it as President.
And yet, Mr. Trump’s brash, take-no-prisoners-and-make-no-apologies ways have gotten him past all the pros in one party, and from “way behind” to “neck and neck” with the pros from the other party. So he may not be as unwise as it seems.
I think that has as much to do (if not substantially more) with the utter distaste people have for Mrs. Clinton and the Democrats as it is does with Trump’s ‘brash’ ways.
And while last week I’d have agreed with the ‘neck and neck’ description, I feel it’s fallen slightly away from Mr. Trump in the past few days. The next few weeks are sure to be interesting…
You know, LC, it was not until I read your comment that I was prompted to watch Kahn’s speech. I wanted to observe his wife and hear Kahn’s words. And now I am absolutely incensed and undertsand precisely what GSM Denise Williams meant when she talked about the right topic (Gold Star Parents) but the wrong message.
As I said, I am incense, in part becuase I now must vent my spleen at two Gold Star parents, one of whom stood emotion-less as her husband spoke, looking up to him every so often, and the other of whom–the Dad–who spoke not about his son and his son’s sacrifice but about Donald Trump! He attacked Trump, even rudely speaking directly to Trump and offering to lend him a copy of the Constitution. This was utter horseshit, political theater at its worst and it thoroughly disgusts me, Gold Star Parents or not. This was a carnival sideshow by a political partisan. Spit!@
Spelling is off when I’m pissed. Kahn can go straight to hell with that pap.
Khan had it planned from the start. He founded the American muslims vote organization and got the domain name on 7/13. I doubt the media will do any background research because that would be racist.
Yep. Looking more and more like this was deliberately planned and that Khan was acting as a hired gun vice a concerned parent.
And THAT speaks volumes about the silent wife. One can imagine that she might not have said anything publicly but that privately she might have said, “You will not politicize our son’s sacrifice! You will not use him to attack Donald Trump or statements he made regarding immigration. You WILL NOT do it and, if you do, you will do it alone!” But being the slavish, subservient, obedient Muslim wife that she is, she stood there and let her husband cheapen her son’s sacrifice. Disgusting.
It also might explain this:
http://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/khans-say-they-want-to-step-out-of-trump-fight/
Good one, Hondo. “[Khan] said ‘there was no need’ for Trump to comment further, saying, ‘We want to maintain our dignity.'”
Or, in simple English, “We want to lecture you while you shut up.”
I’m thinking it’s more, “We want to avoid further scrutiny,” Alberich. But yeah, there’s an element of what you say in play as well.
Mr. Kahn holding up a copy of the Consitution as the supreme law of this land is highly disingenuous, given that as Mr. Shoebat proves, he (Kahn) has written extensively on the fundamentalist view of supremacy of sharia law as defined in the Quran and the Hadiths. In other words, he believes in death for apostates, homos, and adulterers, etc., and that we all should be forced to live under sharia law, not our Constitution.
I wouldn’t get too excited about current polling reports, LC. If this guy is correct, at least one polling outfit has been caught blatantly “cooking the books” in Clintoon’s favor the past few days.
http://www.breitbart.com/radio/2016/08/01/pat-caddell-on-cooked-reuters-poll-never-in-my-life-have-i-seen-a-news-organization-do-something-so-dishonest/
Pat Caddell generally knows what he’s talking about when it comes to polls and politics. And he’s hardly a GOP plant.
They want to step away from the Trump fight? Fine. All the father has to do is shut up. The mother will follow.
The polling never excites me – if anything, this year it’s likely to drive me to rampant drinking. That said, if I were a betting man I’d say that the smart money is heavily on Mrs. Clinton winning the election.
Not necessarily the popular vote, mind you, though I still think that’s slightly in her favor, but the electoral college math makes for a pretty difficult uphill battle for Mr. Trump.
Show me a likely electoral map that results in a Trump win and I’ll reconsider. As of yet, I haven’t seen any. The next few months are going to be painful.
This would explain why CNNs viewership is in the gutter nobody with half a brain is watching the crap
I thought this very question. The original article had links posted for the site. Who is Khizr Khan, the father of a fallen US soldier?
By Clarice Feldman
Khizr Khan is the father of a U.S. soldier who died in Iraq, who spoke poignantly of the loss of his son and then used that platform to attack Donald Trump. On Sunday he tweeted further disparaging remarks about Melania.
Google shows this for his law practice:
His NYC address is here (but the phone number is in D.C.)
Khan, Khizr M. CFC
Law Offices of KM Khan
415 Madison Avenue
15th Floor
New York, NY 10017
Phones: 202.279.0806
Fax: 646-673-8401
Contact Us
I was surprised that a N.Y. law office would list a D.C. telephone number, so I called it to check and was told by the man who answered that it was not Khizr Khan’s law office. The man who answered would not tell me who it was.
So I did more digging and learned that that is also the phone number of a group called American Muslims Vote, which says its mission is:
To create an enlightened community by providing and developing Patriotic American Muslim leadership and
Encouraging American Muslims to participate in the democratic process at local, state and national level and vote on the election day.
I did some further research into who registered this domain name and when. Khizr Khan registered it on July 23, 2016.
He’s looking increasingly like a plant to me – a Muslim Cindy Sheehan playing on people’s sympathies to foster a Democratic Party political agenda. And of course, in that goal, he has the full-throated support of the American media.
Here’s the link for the above article:
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2016/08/who_is_khizr_kahn_the_father_of_a_fallen_us_solder.html
“who spoke poignantly of the loss of his son.” When? Where? Not at the DNC he didn’t. And Kahn used to work for a law firm in DC–that did tax work for BJ Clinton. Lost in all of this is the nature of Captain Kahn’s sacrifice. No wonder Denise said what she did. This does not lend anything positive to the sacrfices made by the children of Gold Star Families. Man, am I disgusted!
Someone (BFH?) did an excellent photoshop of Khan, replacing his “pocket Constitution” with a “pocket Quoran”.
http://iotwreport.com/khan-man/khanmans/
Trump has handled his like an utter dickweed. However, this is typical of the GOP for several elections now – the Dems set the tone and the topic, and the Republicans react – most often just as the Dems would wish them to. I sometimes wonder jwhether when the GOP is described as ‘reactionary’ if this is what they really mean. The Dems say jump, and the Republicans do exactly that.
http://tinyurl.com/j6mzpoy
Trump statement:
“Captain Humayun Khan was a hero to our country and we should honor all who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country safe. The real problem here are the radical Islamic terrorists who killed him, and the efforts of these radicals to enter our country to do us further harm. Given the state of the world today, we have to know everything about those looking to enter our country, and given the state of chaos in some of these countries, that is impossible.”
Responding to Khizr Khan, who spoke at the Democratic National Convention where he criticized Trump, the Republican nominee said, “While I feel deeply for the loss of his son, Mr. Khan who has never met me, has no right to stand in front of millions of people and claim I have never read the Constitution, (which is false) and say many other inaccurate things. If I become President, I will make America safe again.”
“Further, Hillary Clinton should be held accountable for her central role in destabilizing the Middle East. She voted to send the United States to war against Iraq, helped lead the disastrous withdrawal of American troops years later that created the vacuum allowing the rise of ISIS, and has never met a regime change she didn’t like (which have all been disasters) – not to mention her invasion of Libya and her abandonment of American personnel in Benghazi. The loss of these lives in Libya is directly traceable to Clinton, but their families’ testimonials were rejected by the media,” Trump said.
yup, total duckweed/s
And here’s the transcript of the Trump “attack” on the Khans:
https://www.donaldjtrump.com/press-releases/setting-the-record-straight
As I suspected – the “attack” is media spin and little else. Trump only said that he disagreed with Khan’s claims and questioned who’d come up with those claims. For the record: I’d guess Trump was correct in asserting that Clintoon’s speechwriters either wrote that part of Khan’s speech or suggested he incorporate something along those lines in his speech. Hell, I’d be shocked if the Clintoon campaign didn’t have full editorial control over Khan’s speech.
Further, Trump’s observation on Khan’s wife was merely stating the obvious. The lady did indeed sit there with her mouth shut. The only place I’ll fault him is in the way he phrased that part. He’d have been better off to say something like, “I also noticed we didn’t hear from Ms. Khan; I wonder why. I’d love to hear what she has to say.”
Bottom line: if that’s an “attack”, I’m the freaking King of Siam. And I’ve never been to Thailand.
Hondo
“The lady did indeed sit there with her mouth shut.”
If I had been there (in the USA)as a mother of a son I would have been shouting to the world about him, no one and I mean no one would have stopped me
I don’t care what anyone said it would have been worth the beating or killing of me, just to speak of my child.
Just out of curiosity are Gold Star families the survivors of active duty military who are killed in combat or does that extend to members of other govt agencies that are killed in combat operations.
Military Service only, and it only recently change to Families it was only Mothers at one time.
The best response of all – from Chris Mark, published in his Global Security, Privacy, & Risk Management blogsite:
“An Open Letter to Khizr Khan”
Chris Mark – July 31, 2016
https://globalriskinfo.com/2016/07/31/an-open-letter-to-khizr-khan/
Did you hear the DNC crowd, clapping and shouting as Kahn made his anti-Trump points? This is a sick couple.
The unraveling begins. The Left had a field day with this feigned affront. Now that some sources are bothering to report on the innocent, crestfallen parents, the Left will change the topic. It’s formulaic. As the light of truth begins to shine, the Dems pull closed the drapes and say, “But lookie over here!”
Kahn’s entire being is partisan politics, corruption, and Sharia Law.
How not shocking they’ve become the Anti America party’s token “moderate Muslim”.
Unfortunately, I must be in the occasional company of a few ultra lefties, who were seriously wound up about this. After venting and making themselves look particularly ignorant, they went off on how somebody proposed that folks go on Amazon, purchase copies of the Constitution and mail them to Trump. I simply suggested that their time might be better spent reading it themselves.
what most don’t figure out is that copy is a Protestors copy get one a look at it.
Powerful message by GSM Denise Williams… simple and to the point.
The Kahn’s are this elections cycle’s version of Cindy Sheehan… and the MSM will kick them to the curb as quickly as they were made the poster family for the DNC and Cankles.
yes Denise is spot on.
as far as the Kahns are concerned, he will still be paid by the C Foundation and sell his green cards to more illegals
first Richard or whoever you maybe, Pat Smith came because she is ANGRY with the bitoch on the Dem ticket, She was lied to her face and on national TV. I stand with her. go find a diaper…….
Second, she did not do this to exploit her son. Mr Khan, exploited his son for the good of a candidate (not the party)for he worked for her fountain as an attorney and now to issue false green card to immigrates.
As many of you know I am Gold Star Mom, I personally do not agree with either party for many personal reasons. However, as GSM I would never (even being ask) to stand on a stage somewhere and us my status or son’s Sacrifice for gain of any kind. As many of us understand the anything the Mr Trump says or does we will only a small portion for the media will only allow the stupid.
My son Jason is also at ANC and at times I have shrine also. It has nothing to do with politics. I will tell you this go to Wikipedia and search for SSG Jason R Arnette come back and tell me what you find, or many other FALLEN (much of the same) but now search for Captain Humayun Khan and tell be what you fine and when it was put there.
I could gone on & on but will not bore you with any more for now>
God Bless you all & GOD BLESS THIS USA, USA, USA
*FOUNDATION (not fountain)
wow i am find some grammar and spelling mistakes sorry, that happens when I am angry
We got it in spite of a few very minor mistakes. Your words mean much more to me than those of the Kahns. Altho I am not a gambler, I would wager that my sentiment is shared by very close to 100% of those reading your words.
