Journalism this week

| August 29, 2015

There were a couple of things that I observed this week in the world of journalism that I find it hard to let pass without a comment.

The first was Jorge Whats-his-name from Univision who demanded to be heard by Donald Trump by interrupting his press conference. As many of you know, I’m not Trump fan, but I’m less a fan of the current state of the media. Jorge from Univision wasn’t asking a question to which he expected an answer. He was making a statement about his personal opinion regarding illegal immigration. He went on other “news” shows and said he had a “right” to ask his question. First of all, there is no “right” to ask a public person a question. I’d like to know where Jorge found that in the Bill of Rights.

Secondly, as I pointed out, Jorge wasn’t asking a question. He was grandstanding and making himself part of the news cycle. That’s not what real journalists do – they report the facts, the news, not become part of it. Even if he had a valid point, it was lost in the attention whoring for the cameras, and then his misapprehension of what is a “right” compounded by the other “news” sources that made it part of the national discussion on illegal immigration.

Then there was the horrific murder of two members of a Virginia TV news station. I know how journalists felt about it, you know because it happened to two of their own and committed by another journalist. I feel the same way when a veteran is mistreated in some way. But, in my opinion, the wall-to-wall coverage of the whole thing played right into the hands of the murderer. I’m pretty sure that he wanted to be made famous by the incident and he did it in the most public way that he could, even providing the media with video of his crime and Tweeting his getaway.

The media claims that whats-his-name was a big fan of ISIS and al Qaeda, especially in the felling of the World trade Center Towers, but, also, other mass murder events, like the one in Charleston earlier this year. His intent was to make his name a household word, to sear the video of his horrific crime into the national memory. The media did their best to help him in that endeavor with minute-by-minute coverage of his terror spree. As late as last night, Azteca TV was still running the video on their news program “Al Extremo” which was included among other similar events from around the world in which criminals attacked news teams while they were broadcasting live in order to magnify their terrorist activities. It just doesn’t happen here, you see.

I know that “if it bleeds, it leads” in the news world, but, just as they made the goals of that gunman in Charleston to start a race war their own goal, their coverage of this event in Virginia has put a target on the back of every live news-gathering crew in the world by doing exactly what whats-his-name wanted them to do. They made him famous by blasting out his photos, his career, the minutiae of every detail of his life, his manifesto, even his to-do list for the day. Every borderline head case with delusions of grandeur will follow his example.

The media can keep it’s own head count of the times it will happen around the world, but they’ll never blame themselves.

I remember one thing my parents telling me about their dream vacation in Europe after the first time my Dad retired (Late Nineties), my Mom was mentioning how the European mainstream media at the time sensationalized and acted like the National Enquirer while Dad expressed his opinion that the US MSM was not far behind. Damned if they weren’t right.

Jorge Ramos be a stinking latino, so anything and everything gives that la raza , la conquista prick the right…just ask him!!

Ex-PH2

You have to get the media, a composite of halfwitted wannabefamous ‘reporters’, to get its collective head out of what you all politely refer to as its fourth point of contact.

If you can do that, the population of attention-addicted media junkies who fan the flames of ‘look at me!!’ may dwindle away to odd moments of bad reporting. They are really some species of ghouls who thrive on the ghastly and want to infect the rest of us with it. At some point, the shock value wears off.

2/17 Air Cav

Both points are grand slams. You covered it. And I liked the way you refused to mention either pig’s name. Nice touch. This may come as a shock to some people but an individual reporter’s rights are not just similar to yours or mine under our Constitution, but I-freakin-dentical. That “free press” business does not accord a journalist any special individual rights.

nbcguy54ACTUAL

All he really did was give Trump even more TV face time.

“The Trump campaign thanks you Whore-Hey!”

The Other Whitey

“Freedom of the press” specifically refers to the printing press, and in today’s context, media in general. It means that, just as you have the right to vocally say whatever the hell you want, you may also print whatever the hell you want. It means exactly that and nothing more.

“but they’ll never blame themselves.”

No they will never blame themselves nor will they blame the lunatic who commits these crimes. Unless the lunatic has a Confederate Flag. Then it is obviously racist and a huge statement that “black lives don’t matter”. If the lunatic has a Rainbow Flag, that’s not to be discussed or considered as part of his personality makeup or agenda. He is just a poor sick person who had access to yet another of the too many guns we have in our nation. It has nothing to do with “all lives matter” or “journalist’s lives matter”. They will though, continue to blame the inanimate “scary black thing” the lunatic chose to use, the gun. The gun is the reason for all of it and in their heads, were there no guns for the lunatic to use they would just think to themselves, “No guns to be found or had? Meh, I guess I will just go on home then or go back to work now.”

Even when it is one of their own they will not back away from the liberal meme on guns and look at the truth. The truth being, lunatics will always be lunatics and will always do what lunatics do. Guns or no guns they will find a way to fulfill their lunatic cause and sick ambition for fame. In their liberal, journalist, brainwashed minds it will always be the gun’s fault and the fault of all conservatives and the outdated Second Amendment for the cause of all of these lunatic acts. The lunatic gets a pass from them I guess. Unless of course, it is a Confederate lunatic.

In the meantime, in Houston a white Deputy Sheriff is shot in the back, then 3 more times while on the ground, by a black guy.

Eagerly searching the news channels for coverage of the rioting, burning buildings and words from Al Sharpton….

Sparks

And I hear the sound of crickets chirping…

2/17 Air Cav

Yeah, shot three times in the back while pumping gas and the shooter then applied the coup de gras. Pumping gas. Huband. Dad. Making a living. Murdered. There have been far too many shootings of officers lately. And some folks wonder, “Gee, why are the police so defensive?”

A Proud Infidel®™

Yeah, remember all of the White People rioting, looting and burning businesses down after OJ Simpson was found not guilty?

Pinto Nag

If you’ll remember, we were worrying about LA-style riots concerning the verdict in that case, too.

Devtun

Bet the black dude…err, the suspect that is was a really good kid who didn’t cause any trouble…maybe if Brock Obama had a son. OK, on a positive note, the murdering bastard’s mother turned him in.

CNN had a lengthy piece this morning about the Jonathan Farrell case…hey, the tried & true formula “white on black”.

nbcguy54ACTUAL

Funny you should say that. His mama said he’s a good kid, wouldn’t do that – then turned his ass in to the cops.

Good mama…

Casey

Links? Not arguing, but I’d like to read about it.

nbcguy54ACTUAL

Saw it in on CNN this morning while eating breakfast at Lubys. CNN, so take it for what it’s worth. I’ll look for some links on other news sources. I don’t do CNN myself.

CC Senor

And if you don’t like CNN or just prefer something more local there’s this:

Whore-Hay is a little shit isn’t he? Guy flees from Mexico to come to the United States to advocate for criminals and to undermine our sovereignty for what? Ethnocentric Mexicans are better than whites? Or does he really enjoy Mexican culture he fled from so much he wants it to return so he can flee again?

Fuck that turd factory until the end of time.

Joe Williams

My take on this is all newspeople think they are off limits. They can go anywhere and be safe. When a newey is shot or robbed we never hear the end of it. Check it out from the 1900s forward. Joe

UpNorth

A couple of our local stations employ people with that mindset. They do “investigations” and go to people’s houses, knock on the door to get “the other side of the story”. A few of them get pushy.
It’s probably just a matter of time until one of their episodes just goes downhill quickly. They’re interviewing doctors who will write scrips for anyone, for anything, and their “clients”. Contractors who don’t do what they have been paid for, and, of course, they show up at crime scenes.

Jorge Ramos has been on the journalism tribe’s radar for some time, but isn’t more widely known unless you speak Spanish, and spend a lot of time watching Univision. Which I don’t.

Without putting too fine a point on it, there seems to be a consensus that a primary Ramos theme is support of open borders. This is apparently non-negotiable, and ignores not only the issue of U.S. sovereignty, but also the double standard of current Mexican immigration law.

At least part of the rationale for this, again apparently, is based on the reconquista idea that California and the rest of the Southwest was taken from Mexico unfairly, and never mind all the heavy lifting since 1848 of building such things as roads, schools and cities, and turning California, for example, into one of the largest economies on the planet. And why go to the trouble of an invasion using military force when you can simply move in?

Ramos appeals to a certain segment of the Latino community, and because that community is not homogenous, it’s a mistake to dump everybody in the same bucket. When I was going through basic training, both the company First Sergeant and platoon Drill Sergeant were Latino and good people. It’s not hard to give them at least small credit for keeping some of us alive later in Viet Nam. It’s also not hard to imagine both of them telling Jorge Ramos to kiss their ass.

Alemaster

Ref: Jorge, screaming like a little b!t(h about “this isn’t Venezuela, this isn’t Cuba” while being escorted out of the room. Usually those two countries and their respective “leaders” are the examples the libs want to use as the model for our future. regards, Alemaster

A Proud Infidel®™

Yeah, and “SURPRISE!”, Ramos’s wife works for the Hitlery Cankles campaign.

Eric

Keep in mind as well, his “boss” supports Hillary and his own daughter works for her campaign.

This was purely an attempt to attack Trump because of his alliance with The Hillary. And if she were to get elected president, he’d be there at the feed trow with everyone else saying, “remember when I helped you by being a dickhead to Trump?”

Green Thumb

Nancy Grace and Rachael Maddow.

That is all I need for my news.

Just an Old Dog

A lot of the La Raza Cock faces are actually native born US Citizens. Usually 2nd and third Generation at that.

Weekend Warrior in Texas

Most of them cannot speak a lick of Spanish. I get a kick out of having to interpret for them when someone from over the border asks them something in La lengua.

Weekend Warrior in Texas

I always rub it in their face too. El nino is Spanish for “the Nino”.

A Proud Infidel®™

What’s even funnier is their lack of common sense, especially when it comes to Spanish dialects. For instance, someone who is fluent in Puerto Rico won’t be able to do worth a damn in Mexico and vice versa and what works in say, a Tex-Mex Border town might barely get you by in Mexico City and it won’t be worth a damn in El Salvador or Guatemala.

Ten Bears

And ‘blanc’ in Haiti is an insult.

Formally known as JR

I changed my name so noone gets an ARCOM. Anyways, the media will always publicize what the “big thing” is. When it’s gun control and is for it, then so it shall be. When it’s race and is for it, so it shall be. What keeps my faith up in America is Americans knowing the difference between the freedom of speech, fact, and total bullshit.

Eric

1SG Moerk will get another ARCOM, it just won’t be advertised like before.

She’s always watching….

Thunderstixx

One note that I am seeing from the people I talk to is that Ramos’ words just pissed a lot more people off and again Trump gets more face time on the news. Saves him money for going after Jeb Bush later this year.
The chattering class is in complete disarray about Trump and his standings in the polls.
I’m not a big Trump supporter like most here, but it sure is fun to watch him crawl up every stinking last one’s asses with his stand against the rino’s and the rest of the GOP.
The funny thing here is that Walker and the rest of the Gov’s are dying a slow painful death at the hand’s of Trump.
That’s what happens when someone reads the American public better than the idiots on K street.
You gotta give Trump his due here. He is acting like a businessman would act, finding the direction of the market and jumping in the lead of the parade instead of running behind it with a shovel trying to grab the scraps of the leftover horse shit from the rest of the GOP elite !!!

Ex-PH2

‘That’s what happens when someone reads the American public better than the idiots on K street.’

Exactly. He’s blustery enough to face down anyone who tries to take him on. He doesn’t need to suck up to PACs for money. He is, in fact, a true independent.

If it weren’t for the nasty wisecracks that would come out of it, I see no reason to not revive the Bull Moose Party. It suits him to a T, and as direct as he is, people might just say ‘I’ve had it with those other guys for real this time.’

Hereford Bull

I was thinking Trump was gonna punch Ramos.
Someone try to Throw a Shoe at him.
