Robert B. Hollingsworth, Jr.; phony POW
So, there’s this guy, Robert B. Hollingsworth, Junior, who thought that for some reason being a POW/MIA in Vietnam would somehow improve his business, so he put it on the header at the top of his blog. And he was indeed in Vietnam, and he was a photo lab specialist in a Military Intelligence unit. But, he wasn’t a POW and the only bronze stars he has are on his Vietnam Service Medal – not the same as a bronze Star medal, but I guess it’s close enough to fool folks who don’t know any better;
I guess it wasn’t enough that he served when most of his generation did their level best to avoid service, he had to go and make shit up. And a fake Bronze Star citation. He promoted himself to Spec 5 on it as well as make himself a POW;
When you pretend to be a Specialist 5, it’s probably not a good idea to put on the same blog your Discharge certificate showing that you’re an E-3, especially when it’s dated more than a year after your fake BSM citation;
And it looks like his fakery has been going on for a while and it’s been more extensive than just a BSM and POW playing;
Added; You know he needed a CIB;

An older maggot.
I just have been in a state of shock today from these turds.
I am back.
Turd.
The guy can’t even keep his own story consistent. The BS award (the abbreviation being especially apropos) has him as a SP5 in 1968. His 214 has him being released from active duty in 1966 as a PFC (same rank he has discharged at in 1969). But, there are a couple of photos that at least look genuine, in which he’s wearing SP4 rank. So he must have been reduced at some point.

Damn this dumbass to hell…on behalf of all signaleers.
Oh and what’s the deal with the yellow scarf in the last photo? Is this numbnuts also tring to claim Cav? *shakes head and facepalm*
@27 The Closer & 41 Jarhead Pat, his CAR is on backwards.
@43 Hayabusa, Gunny Highway got his MoH in the Army in Korea then probably got a CAR for Granada (the movie cut at the Marsha Mason scene so we didn’t get to see the awards ceremony.)
@no one in particular, I was 11B and 0311. I didn’t earn the CIB or CAR. I suppose if times had been different, I might have got them both.
I went to school with Bob Hollingsworth. Little did I realize that in second grade in 1971 my classmate was a POW.
I did send his brother this link on Facebook. He enjoyed a good laugh.
Any chance in hell that his vfw or legion post will light his ass up?
@57 Old Dog, probably not. I don’t know about the VFW, but the Legion where I am is filled to the top with posers.
Forgot to mention, the PGR and RFTW are filled with them too.
@59
I ride with the Nor Cal PGR now and then, and always look for the posers. Haven’t found one yet, but I’m looking, camera in hand.
@60 OldSarge, Hope you don’t find any. I like to think the best in people in the PGR and ALR. I’ve only been noticing them since I’ve been reading TAH and Stolen Valor blogs. It seems like I can’t go to any event without bumping into an embellisher or two.
I like your idea of taking pictures of them and posting what they tell me.
UFB – another vet that served honorably and he decides to make himself larger than life, and drags his family into the mess. There has to be a special place in Hell for guys like this “Rice Paddy Daddy”…
@ 7, 52: Not only is the type font wrong (Times New Roman instead of Courier, it appears), but so is the rank abbreviation in the narrative. SPC didn’t come into use until after tehy did away with all of the higher ranking specialist ranks. So it should read “Specialist Fifth Class” or, at a minimum, “SP-5.”
I suspect it wasn’t a photoshop job so much as one of those “replacement” certificates they sell on e-Bay, run through his laserprinter to add his info.
@47: Not only does he post his DD-214, he posts his DD-214 without redacting his social security number.
That’s like posting saying you are a millionaire then posting your bank statement showing a balance of $240.00
DonH: the incorrect rank term/abbreviation is the second obvious error in that fake BSM certificate. The citation itself is the third – its language just isn’t correct (“Laos, Asia”? Really? On a BSM cert?). And there are other aspects of the certificate that just don’t look right, either.
You may be right about it being a “replacement” cert. Could be that, or a bad Photoshop.
I’m thinking Photoshop because they at least got the correct SA for the date, so I’m guessing they started with a real BSM cert image. But I guess the “replacement” cert vendors might actually pay enough attention to detail to get that part right.
Hondo:
From the sites I’ve seen in the past, you can pretty much pick your award certificate and who signed it. So I give him credit for at least picking teh right guy to have sign it. Or maybe he went to a “full service” type store, and they picked out the right certificate for the date.

Call him up and ask him to photograph some nuts.
I wonder what this maggot tells his kids now that he has been outed?
Fathers Day and all.
Fucking turd.
I also think he has some sort of book out but I could be wrong.
