Friday morning feel good story

| July 5, 2013

Chief Tango sends us a link to the story about a homeowner in south Wichita who turned around the life of one man when two broke into his house and set off his alarm system;

“Two guys came out of the bathroom and told me that this was their friend’s house and I needed to get out,” he said. “I told them it was my house and I pulled my gun out.”

Blakney said one of the men came at him with a sharp object so he shot him in the leg. That man got away, though Blakney said police found a bloody shirt nearby. A second suspect was found and arrested near some train tracks in the neighborhood.

Blakney said the home has been broken into about five times before. He thinks the latest burglars may have been looking for copper wire or anything else they can turn into money.

“There’s so much scum that comes up and down through here,” Blakney said. “That’s one reason I don’t live here no more.”

From KAKE News;

The resident called 911 and moments later, officers were able to locate and take a suspect into custody nearby. That person wasn’t injured and officers were unable to confirm if another man, who may be injured, was involved. Officers are checking with area hospitals.

Should’ve been aiming a couple of feet higher. Now that guy’s gonna be carrying a limp and a grudge.

Friday Feel Good story? It’s Friday? I lost a day this week somehow. If anyone finds it, let me know.

Now we will support the both of them for a long time. Unless they were trying to turn their lives around and the court is easy on them. Glad the home owner is okay. Sounds like he was trying to be merciful. But a sharp object coming at me…two center mass and if still standing, one in the melon.

Wichita has a few problems, and an ordinance against concealed carry. The only such ordinance in Kansas which is basicaly an open carry state.

If they still put folks like these “Two guys” in the County Farm taking care of hogs, there would be fewer folks needing their lives turned around…

If they get upset at the manual labor, you just need to have ’em watch how the hogs eat chopped meat and remind them how happy the hogs would be if they were chopped up “while trying to escape”…

Some folks are too far gone to fix. Other folks just need to be reminded about coloring inside the lines. Once you figure out the difference, it makes sense to put the first type in a pine box in a 6′ deep hole, throw dirt on it, and spend the bulk of your time rehabilitating the second type.

@7 Well said.

Makes you wonder if trying to convince people in their own homes that it is not theirs has worked for them in the past.

#3, happily, 42 U.S.C. 423 addresses this:

“any physical or mental impairment which arises in connection with the commission by an individual (after October 19, 1980) of an offense which constitutes a felony under applicable law and for which such individual is subsequently convicted, or which is aggravated in connection with such an offense (but only to the extent so aggravated), shall not be considered in determining whether an individual is under a disability.”

…so, if a felony conviction results from this, there’ll be no disability check.

Sounds like the homeowner hit the wrong part of the leg. Hit the knee or the thigh (femoral artery), and no more worries about that particular bad guy.
But that’s what happens when you try to shoot a close-up hostile moving target.
#1 & #5 were right. Better to aim for & hit center mass. Especially upper center mass (lung/heart). Much larger target.
