Gabriel Gomez for Senate
There’s a real deal SEAL running in the special election in Massachusetts’ Senate race this year. Yes, I wrote our buddy, Don Shipley about his creds, because that’s the environment we’re operating in these days.
According to the Washington Post, he’s the son of Colombian immigrants as well as a local Boston businessman;
The GOP is facing an uphill climb in the race for Secretary of State John F. Kerry’s old seat. Several high-profile Republicans declined to run, leaving the party to turn to lesser-known candidates. Last week, state Rep. Dan Winslow became the first Republican to enter the race.
The primary is April 30, and the general election is slated for June 25. Candidates have until Feb. 27 to collect 10,000 petition signatures to get on the primary ballot.
I got several emails this morning asking about his credentials and just got an answer back from Don…so however you are led.

I live in MA and when I saw the news with SEAL attached to his name I had Don do a quick check and this guy is the real deal and a real Bad Ass !! He has my vote even if he was an O Grade …
“Real Deal SEAL” I like that, it should be his campaign slogan.
Q: Since when do “republicans” donate money to and support to democrat candidates?

Even though he is real deal, some jack ass, somewhere is going to cry foul and how he isn’t this or isn’t that. Never fails, most likely one of the Paul bot’s or any number of juvenile demonrat basement dwellers. But, since Shipley gives him a stamp of approval (real deal) and be living there, let there be no doubt whom I’d be trying to help get elected.
Well known and go to go!
Smart as all hell too!
I’m not going to necessarily support anyone based solely on past military credentials, no matter how badass it may be.
Well, he’s smart, and he’s tough, and he’s pretty…yeah, I’d vote for him.
This message is brought to you by the word “Quiotic”.
It pains me to say that but it’s true.
Tman–fair enough, and I hope he gets on the primary ballot at least.
Two weeks just isn’t a whole lot of time to get 10K signatures. IMO, Scott Brown screwed the rest of the GOP candidates when he dropped out with barely 30 days to go. He was far and away the front-runner up to the point he decided not to run.
Frankly, this will screw over his chances at Governor in 2014.
@3: If you think a very conservative Republican has any sizable chance of a win in MA, I have news for you. Gomez, by being a moderate, is in a far better position. So ultimately it comes down to whether you’d like a 5% chance at someone very conservative, or a 40% chance at someone somewhat conservative?
I’m an independent who leans left and were I resident there, I’d absolutely sign his petition to get him on the ballot. Hell, politics aside, we need good people in Congress, of either stripe, and this guy seems pretty decent based on what I’ve read so far. Best of luck to him.
Before I donate I want to know what his politics are. I know its Mass. so he most likely is moderate, but what about gun control, immigration, and religious freedom. There are Politicians that are veterans that suck, John Kerry and Hagel come to mind, so I’ll need to know more.
Gomez will get my support, as did Scott Brown. However, in a state that routinely elects liars and frauds and has a state legislature as corrupt as the LAPD I do not believe any Republican has much of a chance.
I hope to be proven wrong, I was when Brown was first elected but the State didn’t surprise me when they put in the Fake Indian Plagiarizer Lizzy Warren….perhaps it could happen again this time.
Was thinking, oh cool, but then saw he was an “O”…nevermind
What surprised me was his naval aviator background in E-2Cs and C-2 CODs BEFORE becoming a SEAL. A man worthy of respect.
Whenever I heard “moderate” republican/conservatives it’s always means RINO’s. Aint nobody got time for RINO’s any longer. Either you are a conservative that believes in conservative policies or not. There isn’t any middle ground any longer especially when shits hitting the fan.
@15 Politics isn’t black and white. If you want to be a brown-noser you’ll get far in Washington politics but you won’t earn the respect of anyone who can think for himself. Good on Gomez for not being a typical GOP faux conservative puppet
Well he’s in, and considering his opponent is that Slimebag Markey, I’ll crawl down to town hall over concertina wire to vote for him.
