Gun control in the SOTU address
If I wrote a post about everything i disagreed with in last night State of the Union Address, we’d be here all day, so let’s just look at gun control. While the gun grabbing fascists in Congress stood and applauded wildly, the President said (from The Hill);
“Hadiya’s parents, Nate and Cleo, are in this chamber tonight, along with more than two dozen Americans whose lives have been torn apart by gun violence. They deserve a vote,” he added. “Gabby Giffords deserves a vote. The families of Newtown deserve a vote. The families of Aurora deserve a vote. The families of Oak Creek, and Tucson, and Blacksburg, and the countless other communities ripped open by gun violence – they deserve a simple vote.”
While no one in this audience will disagree that many of the victims of gun violence can be described as anything but tragedies. However, even the President and the Vice President have admitted that their proposals will do little if anything to reduce gun violence, so the scary-looking gun ban is nothing more than political theater, and they don’t mind standing on the fallen bodies of the victims to proclaim their support for nothing more than an act.
Can anyone explain to me how registering guns across the country will prevent gun violence? One of my scary looking guns I’ve owned for more than 35 years and I’ve never committed a crime with it. The only warm bodies I’ve fired at with it was a pack of coyotes who were circling our camp site one night. How would registering that weapon make anyone safer? Well, gun registration is only precursor to confiscation – that’s the only answer. Even Canadian news anchor, Brian Lilley, recognizes that simple truth.
President Obama has been adamant that he’s not coming for our guns, but we know from four years of experience that what he says is the exact opposite of what he means.
By the way, Olympic Arms has joined Magpul (the Pmags people) and LaRue Tactical in boycotting local governments who inflict strict gun regulations on the people by refusing to sell their wares to those governments according to a link sent to us by Old Trooper;
Due the passing of this legislation, Olympic Arms would like to announce that the State of New York, any Law Enforcement Departments, Law Enforcement Officers, First Responders within the State of New York, or any New York State government entity or employee of such an entity – will no longer be served as customers.
In short, Olympic Arms will no longer be doing business with the State of New York or any governmental entity or employee of such governmental entity within the State of New York – henceforth and until such legislation is repealed, and an apology made to the good people of the State of New York and the American people.
Let that be a warning to Maryland, Minnesota and Colorado as they discuss their restrictive gun laws to enslave their citizens.

I didn’t watch the SOTU address, but I hear the president received numerous standing ovations.
When I hear that, I think all those people in the chamber are standing and applauding to the downfall of this nation, and that is tragic.
Gee, whillikers. No ammo for the cops?!?!?
I hope they do that here, too. The police shooting range is only a few miles from my house. No ammo. No target practice, right? 🙂
41 standing ovations. My son and I counted. The only thing missing was the lubricant.
I am going to go way out on a limb here. Hadiya was killed (according to reports) by gang bangers. More people have been killed in Chicago during the same period than have been lost in Afghanistan, yet none of the media seem to want to address what I will call the face of crime. To be sure Sandy Hook, VT, Aurora, even Littleton are tragic, but they are anomalies, deviations. The mass murder that goes on in Chicago, Detroit and other like cities happen everyday and the MSM sleeps on the real cause. All of those cities have stringent gun control laws that haven’t changed the murder rate one iota.
All this B.S. about gun control is window dressing. Pap for the masses.
Using victims as props…how disgusting.
There is no such thing as gun violence. The term gun violence implies that the gun is committing the violence, while in actuality the gun is incapable of doing anything without a human doing it. Violence comes from the heart, not the tool used to commit it.
“Let that be a warning to Maryland, Minnesota and Colorado as they discuss their restrictive gun laws to enslave their citizens.”
I live in Maryland and I am pretty concerned what that chucklehead O’Malley and the Montgomery County mafia are going to do during the current legislative session. There is no limit to what they’ll try.
Three things about the SOTU address:
1. The most disjointed speech … EVER!
2. What vote? To take my 2nd Amend Right away?
3. I recieved a standing ovation … yes I did … I am not kidding … for fatherhood! What?
” (we want to) do more to encourage fatherhood — because what makes you a man isn’t the ability to conceive a child; it’s having the courage to raise one. And we want to encourage that. We want to help that.” (Applause.)
Thanks for telling ME what it means to be a man!
This President cannot give a speech without using “straw man” arguments. Of course Nate and Cleo deserve a vote. But their vote should not be allowed to trump mine.
And gauging by the responses to the SOTU speech, the voters are already having buyer’s remorse. Well, no shit, people.
I didn’t listen to the SOTU. I don’t have enough valium on hand fo lower my blood pressure, and I can’t afford another TV, even being middle class.
Hadiya wasn’t murdered by an Ultra-kill-assault style military rifle. I bet she also wasn’t killed by rounds 11-15 in a mega-capacity magazine. From what I was read, it was a gang hit. Two thugs got shot a couple of weeks ago, but refused to press charges or cooperate with law enforcement. Instead they took their own guns and tried to shoot up the rival gang and instead hit a high school volleyball team. Its not gun culture, but gang culture that’s killing our children.
@6: While sitting in on the Minnesota gun control committee hearings, last week, I found it interesting that all the pro-gun control types were foisting intent on an inanimate object. The “experts” for the pro-gun control group (12 at most times vs. hundreds on the anti-gun control side), who weren’t really experts, but were given that title by the head of the pro-gun control lobby, used intent in their testimony several times i.e. “what is a 30 round magazine in that “assault rifle” for”? The answer from the “experts” was “so you can shoot more people”. “What is the purpose of the forestock”? The answer was “so you don’t burn your hand from firing many rounds, so you can continue to shoot more people”. I’m not kidding; that was the answer to every question from the “experts” on the pro-gun control side. I sent Jonn the video from last Wednesday’s testimony, so he could see what we’re up against in this state.
Didn’t watch the SOTU speech or any of the responses. Didn’t read any transcripts nor have I watched the talking heads discuss same.
The trends have been clear for some time. The only news would be if someone bucked those trends.
Besides I was busy watching Jonn over and over.
The universal background check in CO just passed out of committee yesterday and is up for a vote. Our state is completely run by Dems so I don’t have much hope for it being voted down.
Next up is the 10-round mag limit. Then making retailers and manufacturers responsible when someone commits a crime with a gun.
The millions of Left Coasties migrating here over the past 20 years or so have ruined by beloved state. Wyoming, here we come. It’s a bit colder and a lot more windy, but at least they are free.
As for the SOTU Theater last night, why the hell don’t the Constitution supporters wear ribbons for the 2.5 million people SAVED by guns each year? Where is the slideshow of THEIR photos? The ads?
BTW, I don’t watch crap like the SOTU. I watched a video of Chris Kyle’s memorial service instead. Much more worthy of my time, a true American Hero. RIP.
My AR15 that I purchased in November appears to have been stolen! I cannot locate it! Do any of you know where it went? No? Well neither will the government!
Gotta say Boehner as Speaker much more tolerable (and better looking) than Queen Nancy for these SOTU snoozefests…Jack in the box up,down,up,down,up,down, clap clap clap…
Glad to see other manufacturers taking the Barrett approach.
I’m certainly glad to see manufacturers beginning to push back on anti-commerce state governments. Sucks to be the NY State Police etc, but the solution is to vote these idiots out of office. If they keep electing nanny state Liberals to state high office, they keep getting what they elected.
I saw the part of the SOTU where O addressed gun control. It was all I could do to avoid smashing my brand new flat screen. Just watching BiteMe bobbing up and down was enough to make me puke a little bit. Boehner looked like someone had just made him eat a half cooked turd.
