Milwaukee county Sheriff advises citizens to arm themselves

| January 28, 2013

Milwaukee county Sheriff David A. Clarke, Jr., being completely honest with his constituency, advises them that they’re better off fighting off criminals themselves than waiting for the police because of their cutbacks in manpower and funding. KSLA 12 link;

Clarke went on the radio this week and questioned police responses.

“You could beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you can fight back,” said Clarke on a radio show. “But, are you prepared – consider taking a certified safety course in handling a firearm so you can defend yourself until we can get there.”

The Milwaukee mayor disagrees with the sheriff;

“Apparently, Sheriff Clarke is auditioning for the next Dirty Harry movie,” said Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.

Clarke responded by referring to an incident where Barrett was beaten outside of a state fair. Clarke stated had Barrett been armed, that incident could have been avoided.

Self defense is bad mkay; jus roll over and let bad people do bad things, mkay

Ex-PH2

Roll over? Not on your dingdong, Doc. I’m with this lady.

She bit the guy. That should give him a nice septic wound.

Good advice. I’m guessing that Clarke’s is an elected, not appointed, position, or, at best, he’d be in charge of pooper scooper enforcement about now.

“When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.”

In Milwaukee, in 2010 that was around 16 minutes – for armed robbery. It’s longer for most other crimes.

Mayors are elected, and City Managers are hired. In some cities, the roles are combined. I notice that in Milwaukee, there is only a mayor.

In managing any community, from garrison to city, crime statistics are regularly reported, along with the metrics of performance and effectiveness for police and non-police law enforcement (such as the DA’s office).

For Mayor Barrett, and County Executive Abele, to handle the cognitive dissonance between their beliefs and Sheriff Clarke’s reality, must do away with any reports on crime statistics – unless, like those bad aweful nasty ugly rethuglikkkan TEA Party assault weapons – it furthers their political careers.

If there were ever two candidates for tarring and feathering for their resolute disregard for the lives and property of the citizens who live under their regiment – these two are them.

Seems Mayor Barrett got elected, has his own security now, in the guise of armed police officers, so he’s free to tell everyone else that they don’t need security. When he grows up, he can be a Diane Feinstein.

Barrett is a particularly interesting useful idiot here. Seems to me I read that he was beaten severely by someone using a tire iron a few years ago.

I guess he enjoyed that experience so much he thinks everyone should be at the mercy of a thug with a tire iron. Or maybe the beating permanently “rewired” a part of his brain, removing common sense from same.

I’ll see if I can find the link.

Wasn’t Barrett the sacrificial lamb put up against Governor Walker in the recall election?

Hondo

Didn’t take long.

Barrett addressed the court during his attacker’s sentencing (he got 12 years), and with his “voice cracking” told the court,”I thought I was going to be killed.”

Apparently this happened because Barrett was calling 911 while witnessing a disturbance. One of the participants saw him, went apeshit, and then started wailing on Barrett with a tire iron. Seriously.

Seems to me that should point out pretty clearly to “Hizonner” the need to be able to defend yourself pretty much any place or any time. I do wonder why Barrett wants to deny that right to others.

I was told a long time ago that no one will ever think more of your life than you do.

I’ve always thought of those as “words to live by.”

PN: You need to read a number of MOH citations. There are plenty of people who think more of someone else’s life than their own. But, then, you really knew that all ready.

PintoNag

Air Cav, don’t play dense with me. You know I was refering to the mindset of defending your own life in something other than a combat scenario, and that relying on the tender mercies of criminals will get you hurt or killed.

FatCircles0311

Just say you’re being bullied. You can get away with stabbing anyone to death who isn’t actually endangering your life as long as you’re a victim of bullying.

Bullies = bad
Guns = bad
Killing bullies with extreme violence = good

Not sure why we even have the law enforcement charade any longer.

I don’t think he would be saying that if he was a Chicago cop

Hizzonor Mayor B sounds like a typical pukin’ libtard. When you can’t respond to the facts, attack the messenger.

@13. That’s a lot to expect someone to read into what you wrote. But I did give you the benefit of the doubt, based upon my reading of your comments over time.

Chicago, along with being an outstanding example of what the left wants to infect the entire USA with, is also a fine example of the free-for-all that violent criminals enjoy when the law-abiding populace is disarmed. Kudos to Sheriff Clarke!! As for me, I think that every City and County should have the Gun Laws that Kenessaw, GA has!!
