DC Police investigate Gregory

According to a link sent us by Hondo, Snafu Dude and Preston, from Breitbart‘s Warner Todd Huston, the DC police are investigating whether David Gregory violated DC’s restrictive laws against large-capacity magazines.

Breitbart contacted the office of the police chief and asked if there were any plans to look into this apparent violation of the District’s gun laws. In response, Chief Lanier replied, “Yes, we are investigating the incident to determine if the magazine was in fact real.”

In my search for large capacity magazines over the last week, I’ve discovered that there are 10-round magazines out there made to look like 30-round magazines, so I’m pretty sure that’s the excuse that we’re going to hear as a way to help gregory escape the clutches of the DC police. Either that or some poor intern will take the fall for smuggling the illegal, harmless inanimate object into the District.

Anyone who holds out hope that Pretty Boy Metrosexual Gregory will do a perp walk for us is deluding themselves. Some animals are more equal than others.

They may try, but if Gregory reasonably thought it was a 30-round magazine, even if it was a 10-round one, wouldn’t that form intent?

I mean, people sell dime bags of powdered sugar and oregano all the time trying to pass it off as cocaine and pot, but the fact it isn’t doesn’t mean they aren’t charged with possession with intent to distribute.

So all this is basically demonstrating is that Gregory is an idiot AND a liar.

BamBam

This is hilarious! I’d love to see that crap happen after all his self righteousness.

Green Thumb

Cool.

Still expect nothing to come of it, but at least there supposedly is an investigation.

Stuff like this just confirms the great divide between the left and the right. When the Nudge talks about something which must be stretched beyond all reason to be interpretted as anything remotely resembling a threat, he gets a visit from law enforcement. This pretty boy actually commits an illegal act in full view of law enforcement and everyone else in the nation and law enforcement isn’t all over it immediately, even without public pressure to do so?

Yes, I understand that there is a difference between being proven to be in possession of something illegal and only claiming to be in possession of that illegal object. Ask any john arrested for solicitation of what he thought was a prostitute when she turned out to be a cop instead if the claim vs the reality actually made any real difference.

…and of course, if it is discovered it actually is a 30 round magazine, claims about the DC Police violating freedom of the press or free speech infringement would come as no surprise.

Gregory said, I’m paraphrasing, “this is a 30 round magazine”. He didn’t say “this is a 30 round magazine prop”. The intent was to possess one and bully LaPierre with it on air.

Veterans have been bullied by the state repeatedly, being told ignorance of the law is no excuse, when violating it. I forget the story specifics, in NYC one vet asked a cop where to store his weapon because the building he was entering said no handguns allowed. The cop arrested him for possession of firearm. Another guy was moving with all his household goods in his vehicle. AR and ammo were in the trunk. Arrested for illegal possession/transport of firearm and ammo in NJ (CT, RI or one of those worthless NE states). Again, it’s been too long and I don’t remember the details. We’ve been told for too long that ignorance is no excuse. Let David Gregory prove the point for us that gun laws are too draconian, conflicting, and only make it hard for law abiders to carry on.

Give Gregory the maximum. $1000 fine and one year in jail. Maybe then the press will get the the point we’ve been screaming that the laws are retarded.

Merry Christmas.

If Gregory lied, should he not take the route of Dan Rather and retire….?

USMCE8Ret

@7 – I think you and I would agree, then, that Dan Rather retired under the auspices of wanting to do the right thing in light of the “Killian letter” affair, but that was only after he and CBS were caught out in the open with false documents… embarassing for both him and the network. Not sure what they gained out of that. He still lied, but makes about $20,000 per appearance today when he gives speeches, etc.

As far as Gregory goes, he’s just another modern-day journalist/broadcaster who will go to any length to sensationalize a story. There is no such thing as truthful reporting anymore. I wouldn’t hold my breath, as I’d like to see him, Chris Matthews and others go the way of Dan Rather as well.

Just Plain Jason

I guess it is one of those if it is good for thee but not for me…personally I would like to see him nailed to the wall just to show the ridiculousness of the law. Someone like that getting busted would show how crazy it actually is, but as we all know it won’t happen. Now if this had been a soldier returning home from a deployment who had been pulled over and had one…ass would probably have been nailed.

I’ll wait with baited breath for Chief Lanier’s “report”. Lord knows if one of us showed up in DC waving that thing around, she’d have us up against the f’ng wall, frog walking us to jail.

UpNorth

Street, how long would the “report” actually take. The lengthiest part of the investigation would be making copies of the report and a copy of the video showing the ass with the magazine in his hand, and taking it to the U.S. Attorney, to get the warrant typed up and signed by a judge.

B Woodman

I’d love to see the smarmy smirk wiped (with extreme prejudice) from his Libtard face.

Maybe you guys will get your Christmas wish. Here is a link to the news story on MSN:

Should Gregory be convicted of this offense, he faces a fat fine and up to a year in jail.

Boy, would I love to see his bony ass in prison clothing. 🙂

What? I’m just speculating….
