Washington DC 13-year-old shot, killed by homeowner after allegedly breaking into cars

Elizabeth Pritchett
Police in Washington, D.C. are investigating after reports a 13-year-old boy was shot dead by a homeowner for allegedly breaking into cars in the Fifth District.

Metropolitan police said officers responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of Quincy Street in the northeastern part of the city around 3:56 a.m. Saturday. At the scene, officers found the teenager, who has been identified as Karon Blake, with gunshot wounds.

DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported Blake to an area hospital, where he later died.

Blake was fatally shot by a male homeowner in the block after the man heard noises outside and saw someone who appeared to be tampering with vehicles, Metro police said.

Police said the teen and the man were involved in an “interaction” before the homeowner fired his gun, which was legally registered to him.

Federal Appeals Court Overturns Major Trump-Era Gun Control Measure

Jon Dougherty
Former President Donald Trump was generally considered to be a big supporter of the Second Amendment, but he did agree to a rule which banned what gun control advocates say amounted to a major threat to public safety. However, that law has now been struck down by a federal appeals court.

On Friday, in a stunning 13-3 ruling, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans held that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), which was then acting under “tremendous” public pressure, sidestepped the normal legislative process when it issued a rule that defined bump stocks as “machineguns,” which are illegal to possess without a special permit from the agency. The ruling said that the ATF did not possess the authority from Congress to issue such a rule.

No Score

Why this is important other than to folks who like turning money into noise-

“This case is not about gun control. It is instead about who has the constitutional prerogative to change the criminal law if changes are warranted.”

I get the giggle factor, a mag dump into a berm is fun. Once, when ammo is cheap. Not judging, just not for me. Thanks to our own Gun Bunny and AW1 Rod for the links.

Had the 10/22 predecesor, the .44Mag “Deerslayer” but lost it
in a house fire. Took my first deer with it.
Lost the Super Blackhawk .44 Mag in the same fire.
Interesting that Ruger also made a .22/.22Mag for that model.
Plink all day long.

Yup. That 10/22 is a very popular rifle for a very good reason.

I’ve seen some pretty big 13-year-olds, but still…

I’d like a bit more info on the nature of the “interaction” – I’m supposing the 13-year-old went hyper-aggressive, he’d helped steal a car after all and thought he was ghetto-tough-stuff I’m sure.

His buddies may, or may not, learn from his demise to not do that.

Or, they may end up in prison.

Three on one is likely a disparity of force even if they are 13 years old. It would take someone with training in good shape to take on three of them unarmed without risk of serious injury.

Not a fan of bumpstocks myself, but I am also not concerned by them any more than I am over front hand grips etc. I am definitely against organizations like the atf, fbi, irs or any other enforcement agency deciding they can make laws and convict on that basis.

Hack Stone

Fox 5 News in DC ran a segment last evening on Karon Blake. A lovely child who loved football and had an entire life ahead of him to reach his dreams. A real tear jerker. //S// If Hack Stone was 13 years old out on the streets at 04:00, it was to deliver newspapers. That’s how we made money back in the 1970’s, we didn’t steal other peoples property.

When I was 13 years old, I was the perps age playing stickball, punchball. asses up (Chinese boxball), stoop ball, flipping baseball and Davey Crocket cards, hit the penny on the sidewalk expansion line, basketball on my friends net mounted on the garage, running Lionel trains, building balsa wood model airplanes while listening to Allen Freed on the radio, flying kites, model fuel powered airplanes controled with nylon cord on a plastic hand grip, building plastic Mil. airplanes and at a younger age hide and seek, red light green light 123, Simon says etc. Had to be home by 7 or 8pm on school days and around 9 or 10 pm or when Zacherly was over on channel 9 on Saturday night

“back in the 1970’s”

Hack makes my day knowing it was still going on after my time
in the 50’s/60’s. Gotta admit though you can learn a lot at O dark thirty.

I have exactly ZERO (0) phuques in my barren field for the demise of this budding asset redistribution specialist that is no longer a parasite on Society. BZ to the Good Citizen that took out the trash. Punk did a good job of fornicating about and discovering. Maybe his fellow choir members will reach the same goal in life. From what I’ve seen, that Quincy area is pretty much predominately made up of a certain demographic so it is to be presumed that he was stealing from folks that looked like him. Like most here, when I was his age I was already working a time clock job and paying taxes on my income.

“…sidestepped…” Lot of that going on with the Knotzi Uniparty thugs. It’s not control of the gunz they want, it’s control of We, The People that’s their goal.

I will defend what I love! “…til my last weapon and my last drop of blood.”

Nice varmint rifle. Can even be used against 2 legged varmints.

Well, the memorial for the sweet Angel Karon Blake are already up in the neighborhood where he was redistributing the wealth of the DC residents. The Angel is being described as “quiet and inquisitive, who loved fashion and football.” He also loved the belongings of others.

Mayor Bowser said residents should dial 911 for any public safety concern. So if someone is being stabbed, don’t intervene, just call the police, and they may show up, eventually. That is if the 911 dispatcher doesn’t send them to the wrong quadrant of the city.

UpNorth

Or, if the 911 call taker just decides that (s)he doesn’t want to send the po-lice to the caller’s location.
