World Economic Forum proposes end to private vehicle ownership

| July 27, 2022

In a recently published article on their website, the World Economic Forum advocated that people share vehicles instead of owning them. One of the arguments that they use to support this proposal is that more critical materials are needed for green energy technology. Materials going to an “overabundance of vehicles” leaves less critical material for green energy purposes.

From the World Economic Forum:

Be honest, you likely have at least one old mobile phone tucked in the bottom of a drawer. Possibly an unused hard drive taking up space too. You aren’t alone. The average car or van in England is driven just 4% of the time. While most already have a personal phone, 39% of workers globally have employer-provided laptops and mobile phones.

This is not at all resource efficient. More sharing can reduce ownership of idle equipment and thus material usage. Car sharing platforms such as Getaround and BlueSG have already seized that opportunity to offer vehicles where you pay per hour used.

To enable a broader transition from ownership to usership, the way we design things and systems need to change too. For example, car sharing is made possible by new keyless unlocking features. Similarly, user profiles that create a distinction for work and personal use on the same device is needed to reduce the number of devices per person. A design process that focuses on fulfilling the underlying need instead of designing for product purchasing is fundamental to this transition. This is the mindset needed to redesign cities to reduce private vehicles and other usages.

The rest of their paper could be seen on this link.

F*ck the WEF!

You can have my Jeeps when you pry them from my cold, dead fingers. Don’t even think about taking MRS D’s H3. She’s a nurse, she knows how to make you bleed.

The fuckheads don’t need to even think about touching my 1947 CJ2A.

I’ve restored a few old Willys, working on an M38A1 now. And there is no way I’m giving up gasoline just because some commie twats are pushing an agenda they can’t prove. Like most of you guys here I’ve lived through a few “existential crisis” before. If renewable energy is the future develop it in conjunction with existing technologies and if the product is solid it will replace the existing product.

Fuck all these urban communist pussies. I will never give up my personal freedom and I’m going out to the boat and release a shit ton of carbon just because they don’t like it.

Every “Earth Day” I make it a point to burn debris (including old tires).

“Earth Day” is also Vladimir Lenin’s birthday. Happenstance? Coincidence?

I think not!

They already have “time-sharing transportation” commonly called flex cars. Works out great for this who have limited need for a private automobile and access to reliable public transportation. But what happens when you have fifty individuals who all need a private automobile at the same time, and only three are available? Who gets priority. First come, first served? Based on the need (critical need verse recreational use)? Or most likely, they will implement “dynamic pricing, so if you need the vehicle at 10:00 AM on Saturday morning, be prepared to pay $600 for two hours of use. If you have any doubt about the supply/demand issue impacting vehicle ability, go down to U-Haul on Saturday morning at 8:00 AM and try getting a truck.

Anonymous

Because time-share works so well with condos…

Flakpup

“go down to U-Haul on Saturday morning at 8:00 AM and try getting a truck.”

— and really good luck if you live in California, since all the U-Hauls have been used to flee the state. Can’t the same thing happen to ‘time-shared’ vehicles? Imagine when 20% of the population decides to go on vacation out of state…

Don’t forget, there’ll probably be an “exit permit” and a “fee” to move soon, if Democrats are gonna Democrat…

Just like how you need an Exit Visa from some backwards countries.

So the Enlightened get to decide who should own a vehicle. As well as who can own a firearm. And who is entitled to healthcare. They are already looking at restricting our access to certain foods, that being meat based food. Death by a thousand cuts.

It’s “progressive,” you know…

The rural areas of the American South, can be 50 miles from anything resembling civilization. Tell those heavily armed and well seasoned hunting folks, that driving an automobile will not be allowed…

Hell, i live in rural Nevada. Same vibe here.

Won’t work in Arizona. It’ll be even worse where I grew up in Wyoming. 85 miles to the orthodontist when I was a kid.

Ya’ll tired of being treated like subjects and ready to become citizens again? The New World Order is heading toward us like a run-a-way Hellbound Train. Wasn’t it Bush The 1st that coined that term back yonder? Odd how American politicians have been pushing the world back to what it was like before 1775 when all the people of the World were ruled by despots? “…ambitious abroad and despotic at home.”

This is why we should refer to all so called Progressives as Regressives as they want to turn back the clock to the time before the Constitution was written and maybe even the Magna Carta.

Have you ever noticed that these great ideas are only thought out in the environment of dense population areas and never in rural or even suburban terms.

A Proud Infidel®™

Yep, the know-it-all dumbshits who live in and almost never leave the big city want to tell US how to live.

Green Thumb

And to hell w/ driving in densely populated areas.

Take the Metro.

I had to wait a year for my C8 to come in and a life time to afford it. They can massage my ball sack and prostate if they think I am going to share it with them.

Oh and JIC the WEC is wondering, I am absolutely ecstatic with the car and sharing it with someone would just be a downer since they wouldn’t GAF about the car because they didn’t have to do shit to get it.

To quote Ronnie James Dio from “16th Century Greensleeves”:

Drawbridge down,
Cut it to the ground,
We’re going to dance
Around the fire

No more night,
We have seen the light,
Let it shine on bright,
Hang him higher.

STSC(SW/SS)

What these leftists in the cities don’t realize is they will be the first to feel the effects of the WEF agenda. They will make gas scarce and cut off electricity. No electricity means the water is shut off because the pumps shut down. Food will be scarce, law and order breaks down and you are on your own.

Their so called rights wont mean squat when they are just trying to survive.

Just a “mostly peaceful” redistribution of wealth to rich Leftists and BlackRock, nothing to see here…

Why left/libtards like big companies; they’re easier to nationalize.

Hack Stone

Just how the hell are you supposed to bust a few caps in someone’s azz while doing a drive-by if you have to wait for your flex car to come back?

Green Thumb

Fuck that.

Going to share it with some fat ass dude with an overactive fartbox and nasty BO?

Yeah. Not.

A Proud Infidel®™

So first, what happens when you’ve reserved a vehicle for a fine night out and the one you get was used by some messy, smelly slob who didn’t give a shit how he left it? Next, how about in sparsely inhabited rural areas where they couldn’t get to said vehicle? Once again it’s all about how now-it-all overeducated dumbshit elites who never set foot outside of urban areas bray about how they know what’s best for everyone and they want to force their bright ideas down everyone else’s throat. That bright idea sounds like it came someone who was conceived at an orgy during a family reunion!

Green Thumb

The plan seems to be the same a car rental franchise or timeshare.

Kinda like a Jeep I rented one time going back to the islands that had a pile of puke in the back of it.

Good stuff!

That worked real well in East Germany before the wall came down. You had to have connections to purchase and own a car. You had vehicle options also! Four different models: Trabant 500, Trabant 600, Trabant 601, and the Trabant 1.1. Think a tiny low, low, low budget Fiat. 😷

The fuel tank in front was excellent crash protection!

Don’t forget the 800 RS Rally car. With it’s massive 47CU Inch 2 stroke power plant it was king of the Trabbis

The police interceptor model was a hot one also.
