Smith & Wesson M&P .45

Poetrooper sends us this perspective on last weeks “Good Guy with a Gun” story.
New image shows hero’s 40-yard pistol shot that stopped active shooter

Digital rendering of Eli Dicken’s point of view & distance to the shooters location.

LIZ GEORGE
An administrator of the Facebook group “Indiana Gun Free Zones” created a photoshop rendering of the incredible 40-yard shot that armed citizen Eli Dicken took with a pistol to stop an active shooter at an Indiana mall last week.

“My photoshop rendering of what Eli Dicken’s point of view & distance to the shooters location might have been. The red X is generalized location of were [sic] the shooter was firing from,” Jason Lee posted on Facebook along with the image.

According to police, Dicken was carrying a pistol under the state’s recently enacted constitutional carry law, which went into effect on July 1. Just 15 seconds after the mass shooter opened fire, Dicken steadied himself on a pole and fired eight to 10 shots, striking the gunman from 40 yards away.

“His actions were nothing short of heroic. He engaged the gunman from quite a distance with a handgun. Was very proficient in that, was tactically sound and as he moved to close in on the suspect, he was also motioning for people to exit behind him,” said Greenwood Police Chief Jim Ison, according to WTHR. “Many people would have died last night if not for a responsible, armed citizen that took action very quickly within the first two minutes of this shooting.”

Great shooting and headwork! Thanks, Poe.

Homeowner kills intruder in Pickaway County

The Guardian
PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio -A man is dead after deputies say a homeowner shot and killed him during a home invasion.

According to initial reports from law enforcement, a man gained entry into a house in the 1000 block of Thrailkill Road just before midnight on Sunday.

The 9-1-1 caller told dispatchers that the reported intruder had entered through a side door in the residence and was “trying to burglarize” the house. The Guardian has been unable to confirm the motive or reasoning for the man’s presence at the property. When deputies arrived they found the man deceased on the lower-level of the home, while the homeowners were upstairs.

The alleged intruder was described as an African-American male who suffered “multiple gunshot wounds,” according to county coroner Dr. John Ellis.

How much magazine capacity does a citizen need? Don’t really know, but I’d start with what the local police use in their duty weapons.

The gun-control movement is driven by raw emotion. Facts are irrelevant. Logic is spurned. Utter nonsense is solemnly intoned.  — Don Feder

What chance is there that the Indiana mall murderer was dropped by a left handed Glock cocker? 🙂

KoB

Mr. Dicken wasn’t dickin’ around. BZ young man, betcha bad guys will get real nervous when they hear a certain Three Dog Night song.

Home boi should pick away at his victim selection skilz. Oops, too late.

Gunz grabbers are entitled to their own opinion, but not to their own facts.

My my my, such is the proof that our Beloved AW1Ed loves me and wants me to be happy. Nothing plasticized about that Black Haired Beauty except the abominations she is holding. I gots a “gun” that she can wrap her fingers around. Given the chance, I am sure I could turn her from the dark side. Or become her little lap dog. Escort duty again today. See y’all this pm. Keep yer paws offen my gunz girl.

Speakin’ of dogs, here’s an expanded version of the old classic that will make future mall shooters have a shiver in their timber.

KoB:

Thank You for carrying on the mission of attaching a hit song that corresponds to an addressed subject.

We picked up on “Black Haired Beauty”.

Yep, I ain’t just the Keeper of the DA Form 6 for whose turn it is to be “that guy”. Or the King of Battle, THE King of FIRST (EARNED NEVER AWARDED). I have other skilz. And, yess’um, I’d put some night moves on that one…and wouldn’t wait til it got dark. May even have day dreams… about night things… in the middle of the afternoon.

Man, that opening keyboard intro sounds an awful lot like a certain Styx song (just slightly different)!

I vehemently disagree with the score there on Mr. Dicken’s incident. He tagged the bad guy from 40 yards with a Glock pistol (Unk sights and model) and had an 8 out of 10 hit rate. The mall shooter never moved from the spot under his own power and is now in the forever box. Handgun vs rifle and bad guy lost. That certainly rates a score of 1 from me.

Here is a FGS from Oregon:

“Sheriff: Man Suspected Of Starting Wildfires Tied To Tree By Residents Until Authorities Arrived”

https://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/
national/sheriff-man-suspected-of-starting-wildfires-tied-to-tree-by-residents-until-authorities-arrived

“A sheriff said residents of an Oregon town reportedly tied a man suspected of starting two wildfires to a tree until authorities arrived on the scene.”

“Curry County Sheriff John Ward said Trennon Smith, 31, of Veneta, was charged with two counts of first-degree arson and reckless burning.”

“The Bureau of Land Management employee reported seeing a man walking along the gravel road that leads towards Mariel Lodge and Rogue River Ranch, starting fires, Ward said.”

“Meanwhile, Smith was detained by three residents who spotted him walking on the road near the fires, Ward said.”

“According to Ward, the residents reportedly tied Smith to a tree to subdue him after he became combative with them.”

… Ward said an ambulance was called after Smith sustained some injuries that he “apparently received from falling down.”

History Lesson For Today.

In 1913, Joyce Kilmer wrote the famous poem “Trees”. (Is poetry still taught in school?)

Kilmer enlisted in the New York National Guard and deployed to France with the 69th Infantry Regiment (the “Fighting 69th”) in 1917. He was killed by a Sniper’s bullet at the Second Battle Of The Marne in 1918 at the age of 31.

“I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.”

Considering the stress of the moment and the fact of a moving, armed target, that young man performed some exceptional shooting… 👍 👍 👍

BZ Eli, on your 130 Ft. shot, and I thought that the 25 yard (75 Ft) Police El matches were long until we were supposed to shoot a 150 Ft. police El match in the New Jersey Meadows area and we had to forfiet the match since yours truly forgot to bring the box of .38 cal. wad cutters from the 20th street Manhatten gun range where we had a locker.

Glock girl needs to get her fingers off those triggers. She’s breaking the third rule of gun safety – keep your finger out of the trigger guard until your sights are on the target and you’re ready to fire.
