Former Soviet, Ukrainian, but All American

| February 26, 2022

“Thank you”, to those who have reached out to ask about the Spousal Unit.  The situation in Ukraine is rather complex and I do have a lot to say about it… and to do about it.

We currently have several family members still in Ukraine.  Some have chosen to stay and a couple of others are trapped in different cities throughout the country.

Putin is a megalomaniacal maniac, he always has been and he always will be.  Ukraine is not without its problems, there have been ongoing political issues there for decades.  At no time has Ukraine ever been a threat to Russia or any other neighbor.

It is only the puss filled rancid ego of a dwarf named Putin that is threatened.

A world with a Putin controlled Russia is not acceptable,  this problem can not be talked to death… it must be killed.

Fuck Putin and anyone that supports, tolerates or looks like him.

Tell us what you need, as if you were aware/and or had access to such information, and as if you could share if you were aware/and or had access to such information.

And tell your Spousal Unit she has another sister here pulling for her and her kin.

The Democrats primary source of dark money comes from china
And china supports Russia in this whole thing
All the US is going to is sit on our ass because
Power and money is more important
Then doing the right thing here
I feel bad but the Ukraine is toast
Thanks Brandon and the DNC

Cut Russia off of swift banking system
And there economy will collapse
Then we’ll see china for what they are

Hate_me

The SWIFT C&C Data Center is in Hong Kong. Cutting Russia off from SWIFT may prove more complicated than it seems.

This is what the last administration was reported to have told Putin would be a start if they tried to pursue a incident in the Ukraine
Yes it would definitely smoke China out of the hole
But what’s coming out of Beijing now shows were they stand beyond a doubt

Time to stop playing fuk fuk games and get real

Hate_me

The difference between this and the last administration is that the former President actually understood economics, and understood brinkmanship.

The current President has no idea how Putin thinks or how to deal with him.

Putin approaches a situation like a judoka – if you push, he’ll pull you off balance; pull, and he’ll use your energy to push you over; give an opening or show weakness and he’ll instinctively move in and take advantage.

Kandahar Joe approaches a situation like an entitled brat – he’ll bribe the ref and pay off the judges, then he’ll still manage to lose the match and complain that the other guy didn’t play fair.

Hate_me

I’m not surprised, I just don’t believe it will have the impact they expect it to.

Big prayers up for the Ukrainians and (unpopularly, perhaps) those Russian Soldiers. I bet some of them don’t wanna be there -’tis the nature of service- and perceive those lands populated by kinfolk.

I’m not sure what the end state for OP Big Mess In Little Uke be but I’m sure given enough passion and can-do spirit, the desire for the People To Be Free can become realized.

I hope they’ve enough ammo…

My Co-Workers wife was in Lvov and could not get a flight out to Warsaw. Last I heard she was driving there. Hope your family is ok.

Fyrfighter

Hoping all family members are safe Dave, we’ll be thinking of em.

26Limabeans

My neighbors wife has family trapped near Chernobyl.
He tells me she is in tears. Putin needs to be stopped.

Graybeard

Prayers for your family there Dave.
I thought we had family members there – but fortunately they are in a nearby area and are OK – for now.

Someone does need to take Putin out. And his supporters/puppets.

Russia may win the ground war, but the following Guerrilla war will be devastating. See Afganistan.

Wish we could get them some Barretts.

A couple of years ago I was visiting friends in South Carolina. We stopped for breakfast at one of the many, wonderful pancake houses they have there. There were two of the most beautiful teen girls working there. They were on a special program from Ukraine. When I say they were beautiful, I mean that I don’t really have the words to describe them. They were also the nicest, sweetest young ladies you’d ever want to meet. They made this old man want to be young again.
Right now, I know that they are both back in their home country. And I am praying that they are alright, and they will survive this horror. They deserve to become as old as me, to be mothers, and grandmothers. God, in Your mercy, please watch over those two beautiful, earthly angels, and help them live.

Hope Things work out for your family members Dave.

Some possibly good news, Dave, which I also just posted at the Ukraine War latest thread.

Here’s some very interesting information from Power Line that is supposedly based on intel obtained from an Estonian member of the European Parliament who is the former Commander of Estonian Defense Forces. He claims intel sources inside the Russian government are reporting that Putin has botched the invasion and that the Russians lack the logistics tail for a sustained fight:

Here’s the general reporting this:

I heard roughly the same thing about the Russians. I think they thought that they could just run in and take names and kick ass but under estimated the Ukrainians.

Poetrooper

Or perhaps we have all been overestimating the Russians…

Thunderstixx

It’s obviously a sum of both positions.

Mason

Pretty sad if true. They can’t sustain logistics for a war on their front step? I’ve been led to believe the Russians were better than that.

NDHoosier

My take on the invasion: There is no way Ukraine can hold off the Russians in a protracted struggle. That leaves the Ukrainians the following options:

  1. give in to Russia (I can’t see this happening)
  2. fight like hell up front and hope you can make the short-term cost so high that Russia will have to withdraw due to domestic unrest and extreme disruption of Russian logistical efforts
  3. disappear into the countryside and resort to insurgency warfare against an occupying power
26Limabeans

I like number three with the addition of Stingers.
And so simple to use even a mountain dwelling
goat herder can play.

Mason

The Ukrainians seem to be having quite the time with our Javelins.

Hoping for the best for you and the Spousal Unit’s friend and family in the Ukraine.

Someone’s screwing with the Russians… check out the Tweet:

Something I took for granted until now. I’m seeing on the news that the Russians are having numerous problems moving into a country about the size of Texas in their own backyard. They seem to be having logistical problems too numerous to mention. The American military moves people and material halfway around the world and are ready to fight tonight, despite all the downsizing and forced CBT’s about all kinds of woke shit. God Bless the U. S. Air Force!!

KoB

Damn Dave, don’t hold back. Tell us how you REALLY feel about Putin. Most of us feel the same and we stand with the people of Ukraine in their struggles with their foreign and domestic enemies. May there be an Overwatch for the Family and Friends.

Show Vlad this picture of the Soviet. If it doesn’t make him surrender forthwith, show him the dive video. THAT should take his breath away and he will choke to death.

Oh, and btw, your reply to Roh-Dog in re of “up close and personal”? Now you’re just bragging! 😻

USMC Steve

Hey Dave, you not only used large words in there, but correctly too. You were not a grunt in the Marines, were you? Wicked nice rifle there too. Can you actually get ammo for it where you are?

Dave Hardin

I reload, no ammo shortage here at the moment.

rgr769

Save your brass, and all one needs is primers, bullets and powder. Assuming, one has a press and the requisite dies.

USMC Steve

I do that as well. Hodgdon has started retail sales of powder straight from the factory if you want to save some scratch. Availability is kinda sketchy at times though.

While ol’ Poe is posting news favorable to Ukraine, Sundance over at theconservativetreehouse.com, considered to be a very reliable conservative source, has posted a warning that we must be careful that we don’t get played by the UN, the US State Department and the Ukrainian government, all of whom have unleashed a full-blown propaganda effort:

“Everything we are seeing in U.S. media surrounding U.S. interests in Ukraine is a massive propaganda operation with the headquarters in the U.S. State Department and U.S. intelligence community. The sense of sympathy you are feeling is part of an intentionally manipulative operation from within this DC matrix.”

More from Powerlineblog:

There is a real irony in the fact that we purport to sanction Russia while at the same time we and our European allies are financing Putin’s adventurism:

[I]n just the 24 hours immediately following Putin’s recognition of the so-called People’s Republics of Luhansk and Donetsk the European Union, U.S., and United Kingdom “bought a combined 3.5 million barrels of Russian oil and refined products, worth more than $350 million at current prices,” and “another $250 million worth of Russian natural gas.”

On Energy, the Chinese-Russian One-Two Punch | Power Line (powerlineblog.com)

Ol’ Poe wants to know if there’s ever been a war where allies of the attacked nation funded the attacker… 🤔 🤔 🤔

rgr769

In answer to your query, highly doubtful. But in past wars the effing present day Progs/green-weenies were not controlling much of the West’s government policies re fossil fuels.

Dammit! How’d that happen? I mean, yes we’re in Australia.

Russia has plenty of petroleum reserves and the impotent eunuch in the White House couldn’t stymie American Oil Production fast enough as soon as he was installed. Happenstance? Coincidence? I’m sure the Ukrainians are ecstatic about the return on the bribes they gave Hunter Biden !

I’ve been to Ukraine and my prayers are out for them. If Vlad’s military minions are already having problems, I hope that their invasion quickly turns out to be a great big tar baby for Vlad & Company!

I work/worked with some Russian ex-pats, and they’re no fans of Putin and very supportive of Ukraine.

Thunderstixx

Here’s to support for your more than lovely bride and the relatives still in the Ukraine. God be with them as they hold on to what is dear to them and their countrymen.
Never give up hope and never doubt that there really is a God somewhere seeing to it that the Human Race continues to grow and prosper.
In situations like this, it is better to support the aggrieved souls and to pray for the ones that have sacrificed their lives in belief of a higher calling.

Poetrooper

With so much disinformation coming out of Ukraine on both sides, ol’ Poe is predicting that the Ghost of Kyiv, the Ukranian pilot who purportedly downed six, count ’em, six Russian aircraft, will soon be identified…
