Man shot during alleged Martinsville home invasion

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Franklin County Sheriff is investigating after a man allegedly entered a home in Martinsville and was then shot on March 30.

According to the sheriff, deputies responded to the 100 block of Blue Spruce Drive around 9:30 p.m. after reports that a man was shot during an altercation when he allegedly entered a homeowner’s property. At the scene, deputies immediately began emergency first aid until EMS arrived.

The man was then airlifted to the hospital for further treatment.

Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and said there is no further threat to the public.

The investigation is ongoing. No criminal charges have currently been filed.

1 killed in north Tulsa shooting

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department said a man is dead after a shooting in north Tulsa on Sunday night.

Police said officers responded to a shooting around 11:15 p.m. at a house near East Pine Street and North Lewis Avenue.

Officers found a man lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he later died.

Officers spoke with two men in the backyard of the home who said they were in a detached garage with another man, when a person wearing a mask walked up to them and fired a gunshot into the air.

One of the men in the garage grabbed his own gun and shot the masked person. The third man in the garage wrestled the gun away from the shooting victim and left the scene before officers arrived.

The man in the garage who shot the masked man was questioned and is currently not under arrest.

If Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) hopes his all-night theatrics on Monday will be remembered, thanks to one of his staff members, they will be.

Booker’s staff member, Kevin A. Batts, was arrested Monday evening for carrying a pistol on Capitol grounds moments before Booker began an all-night speech on the Senate floor protesting President Donald Trump’s America First agenda, NOTUS reported.

A NOTUS reporter witnessed the staffer, Kevin A. Batts, being arrested Monday at 6:29 p.m. Eastern as Booker prepared to begin his speech around 7:00. “He was handcuffed and placed in the backseat of a [U.S. Capitol Police (USCP)] vehicle outside the Senate-side of the Capitol,” according to that report.

USCP confirmed the arrest Tuesday while Booker spoke on the Senate floor.
