Republicans looking at legislation to push back against woke and cancel culture in the military

| May 21, 2021

Most of those serving in the military lean right. This was more of the case in the 20th Century, and in the beginning of the 21st Century. Though most still lean right today, the percentage of this group has declined. The move to indoctrinate the military with “being woke”, with “cancel culture”, with more political correctness, etc., may have an adverse impact on military readiness and on troop quality.

From Fox News:

House Armed Services Committee member Rep. Lisa McClain, R-Mich., decried cancel culture as “getting out of hand” and said that she was supporting legislation to ensure that American troops aren’t being indoctrinated into woke culture, which is more intolerant of conservative beliefs and values.

“Freedom of speech is one of the founding principles of our country, and right now, our military servicemembers’ careers are in jeopardy if they dare to be conservative,” McClain told Fox News on Thursday. “This cancel culture is getting out of control and it’s seeping into every aspect of American life.”

“The military monitoring social media content of its servicemembers is extremely problematic and anyone who believes in freedom of speech should be outraged,” she continued. “I cosponsored the Combatting Racist Training in the U.S. Military Act to ensure divisive, un-American ideas aren’t rammed down the throats of our troops.”

Republican Study Committee chairman and House Armed Services Committee member Jim Banks, R-Ind., told Fox News on Thursday that he thinks the military should focus all energy on being the best fighting force on the planet.

“Call me old fashioned, but I think the military should be 100% focused on being the best fighting force it can be to counter our adversaries like the Chinese Communist Party or Russia and stop entertaining Left-wing social experiments,” Banks said.

Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Texas, another member of the committee, told Fox News that America needs to have warriors, not “social justice warriors,” in the military to survive.

Given that 90+% of Congress has never served a day in their lives, and they are trying to enact policy that directly impacts the active service member is a farce in and of itself.

General Friedrich Wilhelm August Heinrich Ferdinand von Steuben wept.

(somehow while searching the General’s full name I came across this tendie. It has a little for everyone, enjoy! https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/lindsey-vonns-boyfriend-p-k-183709455.html )

The military is becoming more woke, or at least its leaders are. A vast majority of us lean rather heavily to the right, but the officer corps that leads us is becoming more and more leftist in nature. A lot of junior officers have been brought up in a Democrat media-run society and were further indoctrinated throughout four years of college. Meanwhile, senior field grade and general officers who want continued (and untainted) service cater to the woke communities and politicians.

This doesn’t let the NCO Corps off the hook, though, as many SGMs/CSMs and more than a few other senior NCOs have bought into wokeness wholeheartedly for the same reason their officer counterparts have. Sharing the “wrong” opinion or view on a subject is a quick way to end a career nowadays.

Tell me, Sgt. Maj., who does the job of those women while they “recuperate” from childbirth?

MCPO USN

Uh, no.

Sgt MaJ is so far off course he needs a new compass. How many “lethal” women are there in the military? Not near enough to counter the non-deployables.

Apparently this oaf is a Master Gunnery Sgt. Just another pompous E-9 or PV9. Yeah, maybe the Tuck never served, but often times they see things more clearly than the ticket punching politicians in uniform.

So, fortunately, even if this draft towards CRT instruction isn’t defeated, we can rely on our typical apathy on the part of both students and teachers to blunt most of the intended effect.

I’m inclined to think that even absent apathy, there’s a bit of a push-back coming. I’m one of the few socially liberal people here, and even I find the extent of this new era of racial wokeness to be utterly ridiculous. The only reason it’s gone as far as it has is that as a people, we seem largely incapable of reasoned discussion these days, so it boils down to who has the power to push a certain agenda.

If your job is to launch artillery shells on an advancing enemy, the evaluation of whether you’re suited for that job shouldn’t have anything to do with your race, gender, sexual preferences, etc. At the same time, in an increasingly diverse country, if you want to recruit people into those positions, having a representative population already serving is an incredibly helpful tool, and preferentially advancing people who are underrepresented, but equally qualified as other people up for promotion, is reasonable. We should be able to support both those notions at the same time.

Bullets and missiles don’t care.

The politicians of this country are managing to do what NO foreign enemy has ever been able to do. That is, to destroy the fighting ability of the US Armed Forces. They need to “get woke” in a different manner and “wake up” to the fact that the purpose of the US Military is to destroy our enemies and ensure the Freedom and Safety of OUR Country.

Dumbass politicians. And sadly, the Repubs are only going to give lip service to this and will roll over for their belly scratch and their share of the public trough. PHUQUE THEEM!

Plugs had to bring identity politics into the MoH ceremony for COL Puckett. Just tired of it.

The shit needs to be nipped in the bud. Before I retired I saw a number of times when race and other shit was used as a factor in awards, promotions and assignments among other things.

MCPO USN

Commanders today are scared shitless of getting a CMEO complaint, and service members “of color” know it and push the race card whenever they can. And this is officers and enlisted alike.

Saw a pair of Ft Carson soldiers at a restaurant here in Colorado Springs recently, IN uniform, with their pants sagging below their asses… wanna guess the demographic?
I can’t imagine not getting ripped a new one by a 1st Sgt when i was in for having a gig line that wasn’t straight, let alone crap like that..
