Biden insults the troops. Again.
President Biden gave a commencement speech yesterday to the Coast Guard’s newest officers at their Academy graduation. With echoes of his speech to deployed troops when he was Vice President, when he called them “stupid bastards” and “dull”, he again insults the troops as “dull” when they didn’t laugh at his incoherent rambling “jokes(?)”.
He said, “I can only assume that you will enjoy educating your family about how the Coast Guard is quote, ‘the hard nucleus around [which] the Navy forms in times of war.” Since nobody knows what the hell he’s talking about, nobody laughed. Naturally, when confronted with an audience that doesn’t swoon over his every word, he insults them. “You are a — you are a really dull class. I mean, come on, man, is the sun getting to you? I would think you would have an opportunity when I say that about the Navy to clap.”
No idea why he expects the COAST GUARD to clap after he references the NAVY. He called (some might take it as an order) for the group to clap at least two other times. According to the New York Post;
“You can clap, come on, man,” Biden said when he joked about cadets spending “too much time at the Slice,” a local pizza parlor.
He again encouraged the crowd to clap when he praised the academy’s Bravo Company for winning a football game against a rival set of cadets.
“Congratulations the Bravo Company, by the way, on your victory. You can clap. It’s okay. Even if you’re lost, you gotta clap,” Biden said.
Biden later said he would “absolve” the graduates of any misdeeds from their time at the school.
The president told the cadets that as a University of Delaware student in the 1960s, he committed “minor infractions like using a fire extinguisher to hose down an RA.”
In regards to Biden’s original comment, the Coast Guard under the Department of the Navy during a time of war. When they are brought under the Navy, the Coast Guard continues to act as a supplemental or auxiliary to the Navy. Not really the “hard nucleus” of the much larger, pre-existing service.

Someone got to Trump and explained that his statement was wrong because after that, he never said anything similar and expressed great respect for those who served.

I think the interesting thing about this is the media coverage. While for the most part it is lacking, what I have seen is similar to the coverage given by the cited NY Post article which “quotes” Biden as saying:

“Which” was not included in Biden’s comments and that is why the comment was not laughed at and viewed as nonsensical.

Put a big teleprompter BEHIND Joe to let those in the audience trying to make sense of his mumbling as he tries to make sense of his own teleprompter. Flash messages to the audience such as:

They could put the teleprompter on a green screen so those few watching at home wouldn’t know it was scripted and filmed in a studio with a compliant audience of supporting lobbyists for broadcast.
