Stamford [CT] man tried to rob bank with a hammer
A city man is in custody after he tried to rob a bank with a hammer in downtown Stamford, police said.
Denzel Byrd, 30, pulled out a hammer and demanded tellers at the Chase Bank at 45 Prospect St. “give him money” around 6 p.m. Thursday, Capt. Richard Conklin said.
When the bank tellers refused to comply, Conklin said Byrd “got spooked” and fled the scene on a bicycle.
Byrd was later captured about a mile away, near the intersection of Smith and Steven streets. Conklin said police seized the hammer used in the attempted robbery and Byrd was placed under arrest.
Byrd was charged with criminal attempt at first-degree robbery, first-degree threatening and possession of a dangerous weapon. He was held on $25,000 bond and given a court date of June 3.

April Fool’s ‘prank’ goes horribly wrong, results in woman’s arrest and suspension from her job
A New Carlisle woman is in jail after deputies said she falsely reported an active shooter at the Navistar Plant on Urbana Road Thursday morning.
Maj. Chris Clark said the worker at the plant texted her sister saying there was a report of an active shooter. That sister then called 911 around 11:45 a.m., which prompted a county-wide law enforcement response to the plant from multiple police agencies, Clark said.
“She said there was a guy that got fired yesterday and he came in with a gun and they are barricaded with the lights off in an office,” the sister said to a 911 dispatcher. “She sent me a text, and I’m afraid to text her if they are barricaded and hiding.”
Clark said deputies were on the scene within two minutes and quickly entered the facility looking for the reported active shooter, when they were eventually alerted that the report was an April Fools joke.
“She put a lot of people in danger today over a stupid joke,” Clark said.
The female worker, identified as Pamela Sisco, 57, of New Carlisle, was arrested. Sisco is due in court Friday morning after being charged with inducing panic and disrupting public services, according to jail records.
A spokesperson for Navistar said she was immediately suspended by the company.
“Navistar has immediately suspended the employee pending further investigation. The company is working with local authorities,” the company said in a statement.
The sheriff’s office said the prank led to multiple 911 calls coming into their dispatch center.
“Because we have seen so many mass shootings everyone is scared,” Gov. Mike DeWine said. “What someone may have intended as a joke, there’s just no tolerance today for a joke like that.”
Workers and family members described the terrifying moments when they thought there was actually an active shooter inside of the plant.
Michelle Newman, who works at plant, said she was ‘beyond confused’ when deputies showed up with their guns drawn.
“They held us at gunpoint and we had to basically put our hands up and walk to them,” said Newman.
Toni Hamilton, who lives in Springfield and whose son works at the factory, described her reaction when seeing the news.
“I didn’t know if I was going to talk to my son again in those seconds. It was horrible,” Hamilton said.
Sheriff Deb Burchett said that one of her deputies was the fist on the scene, and he went straight into the building prepared to face the situation.
Burchett was not amused by the “prank.”
“It’s sick. It’s a sick joke that’s what it is, and it’s not a joke as far as I’m concerned.”
My law enforcement sources tell me that there were 70 squad cars on-scene before they realized it was a prank. I also really want to see Major Clark get elected to the top LE job in the county. Then he can change all of the squad cars to have graphics on the side that say “Sheriff Clark” over “Clark Sheriff”.
Do you think we’ve hit the dumbest criminal of the week yet? NOPE!
Uniformed female cop molested in Brooklyn subway station
A female police officer — who was on duty and in uniform — was sexually molested in a Brooklyn subway station Saturday, according to the NYPD.
The 36-year-old officer was on patrol in the 59th Street subway station in Sunset Park around 4 p.m. when the pervert approached her from behind and grabbed her rear end.
“I want you to be my lover,” the creep said, according to a police report on the incident.
He also grabbed her crotch area, police sources said.
The cop then took the man, later identified as Herbert Buidzsen, 31, into custody, police said. He was charged with forcible touching, sexual abuse and harassment.
It wasn’t clear if the officer was on patrol alone.
The man had one prior arrest for drunken driving last month, a police source said.

Finally, we have some dumb cops;
Pakistani Police Press Charges Against Four Month Old Baby
An unusual yet weird incident occurred at Chiniot police station, Pakistan when police registered a sound violation case against a four-month infant, Hasnain shehzada According to the Punjab news, a few days ago a religious event was held at Chiniot where different religious scholars delivered their speeches on loudspeaker.
During this religious gathering, the environs were pretty noisy and a continuous distraction or sound violation was disturbing the neighbourhood. Under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, the police had registered a case against dozens of people, including the four-year-old baby in contradiction of this raucous disturbance.
This simple registration not just winds up the issue, yet another far-fetched act from Chiniot law enforcement folks surfaced as the police refused to remove the infant’s name from the FIR. Shockingly, the authorities rejected to delete the name of the baby from the first information report even after knowing his age. Upon such a nonsensical and unjust attempt, Husain’s father had submitted papers in the court for interim bail. He also provided the child’s birth certificate to the legal department.
This is not the first incident where the Police department has shown such a careless and irresponsible investigation. Back in 2014, a nine-month-old boy was charged with scheming a murder, threatening police, and meddling in state affairs. Toddler Muhammad Musa Khan is included among the 30 suspected gas thieves caught during a police raid in Lahore, Pakistan. The kid was given bail and the case has been adjourned.

Heh heh. Gotta love it. How teh stoopid can people be? “I’ll take that challenge, hold my hammer and watch this.”
Thanks Mason.
Dunno, a coupla grandkids screamed at around 250Db… heard a kid at the store last week who made them sound like sissies and mebbe should have been arrested. It’s not just volume, it’s the pitch. Hard to believe they grow up to be reasonable adults!
They don’t.
I guess hat dude with the hammer did not get his stimulus check.
Bringing a hammer to a gun fight…….and there weren’t no gun.
And as far as the April Fool’s woman……. “Play stoopid games, win stoopid prizes”. Enjoy your unemployment. (sheesh!)
Yeah, her future employment opportunities are going to be rather, uh, limited unless she moves several states away and gets a career where paper hats are involved.
I can see the commenters really hammering Byrd on the attempted hammer holdup and then Byrd flying the coop. Next is the judge hitting his hammer/gavel on his bench.
