Well… Bye!
This 10-3-2020 podcast (link below) is presented by a local Seattle realtor, who takes a very dim view of the downturn in Seattle and destruction of the city’s center. He directly addresses the fact that businesses are leaving downtown Seattle en masse because the mayor is allowing looting and destruction to continue… and apparently, it’s because she’s apparently a Marxist. He does not say if that is self-dcclared, or a general assumption. His frustration is obvious. As a realtor, he loses business and income if his prospective market moves away from his area.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JKiSRNeyh8&feature=emb_rel_pause
Seattle’s mayor, per the podcaster, has turned out to be a “Marxist”? Apparently, the entire city council is politically oriented toward it, too. They (and she) have allowed downtown Seattle’s business district to become a slum, a cesspit, and awash in boarded up businesses.
And just how does destroying a major city’s downtown make it better? I’ll give Chicago’s Lightfoot this much credit: she knew her job was on the line if she didn’t pull up her Big Girl panties and send in the CPD to stop the looting and destruction that followed a planned protest on a section of the Dan Ryan Expressway, and went well into midnight hours. But those businesses that were damaged and destroyed are likely to not return to the Loop, even so.
Boeing packed up its headquarters, moved that to Chicago in 2001, and is currently leaving the general area, announcing plans to move more manufacturing out of state. A slow erosion of wage-paying jobs is underway. Those jobs produce taxes. This seems to escape the liberals. Maybe they really do think that money grows on trees.
Boeing moved its Seattle headquarters to Chicago back in 2001. Now, it’s moving the remainder of the Dreamliner manufacturing to Charleston, South Carolina, effective in mid-2021.
Not a joke. There goes a huge load of skilled labor positions right out the door,
From the article: EVERETT, Wash. — Boeing announced on Thursday it will move all production of the 787 Dreamliner aircraft from its giant Everett plant to its facility in Charleston, South Carolina starting in mid-2021, according to the company’s best estimate.
“As our customers manage through the unprecedented global pandemic, to ensure the long-term success of the 787 program, we are consolidating 787 production in South Carolina,” said Stan Deal, president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Deal said Boeing workers in Puget Sound will focus on building the 737, 747, 767 and 777 airplane families. – article
This does beg the question: how long will those jobs in Puget Sound last, if the mismanagement in Seattle by the current mayor continues?
And since we do have a base up in that general area, is that going to be threatened by thugs?
You do have to start asking just how far this destruction is going to go before We, the People, shut it down and the government backs us up on it. I can understand the frustration and dysphoria of those Michigan idjits who wanted to kidnap the Michigan governor and drag her off to Wisconsin, but frankly, that is not how we do things in this country. They were wrong, very, very wrong, and they will pay for it, and no, I do NOT feel sorry for them. They brought that on themselves.
But that brings me to another subject: what is going on now is not so very different from what went on in the Colonies before the Revolutionary War, and afterwards, the war of 1812 when the British Army tried again and failed, and lost a good senior officer – Pakenham to the Regent’s foolishness and self-importance. A large part of what caused the French Revolution and the later riots over the Corn Laws in England had to do with the simple fact that crops failed for several years in a row in Europe and in England. (“Corn” in England refers to various kinds of grains, not just ear corn.)
Are we seeing a repeat of those events from the late 18th and early 19th century? Possibly. Stay tuned.

It is not the “destruction” it is the business tax.
Seattle protests have been in decline for weeks.
Also, nearly all urban areas are seeing a business shutter due to Covid.
Seattle will be fine.
New businesses will open in their place.
The city has completely transformed over the last 20 years. Older businesses were already struggling because their model targeted a clientele that was no longer representative of the Seattle consumer.
Older businesses were already struggling.
Because of the magic dirt of Seattle?
The cities of Newark, Camden. Detroit, Buffalo, Cleveland, Trenton, etc. all thought they would recover too. 60 years later…nope.
“New businesses will open in their place.”
Plenty of business opportunities for today’s progressive innovator, such as selling riot shields, bicycle locks attached to chains, goggles and bottles of human waste.
The city will end up collapsing on itself. Between jacking up taxes, implementing asinine regulations that will strangle the small business person, and the inability and/or willingness for authorities to protect property, it just won’t be worth the effort to stay or open a new business. And with Mayors ordering their Police Departments to stand down while mayhem ensues, how are key supplies to be delivered to the cities? Trucking companies have already said they will not deliver to cities where their employees and cargo are at risk. You better hope that Snake Plissken is available when you step outside to buy some milk.
Because people want to live there and it has one of the top 10 highest per capital income levels of any metropolitan areas in the country.
It is not a blue collar city.
It is one of the wealthiest cities in America.
It is annoying you need that explained to you.
It is annoying that your people want to destroy it. The everyday residents of Seattle do not want to be San Francisco North, and the wealthy will take their tax dollars elsewhere.
It is both annoying and laughable that you, supposedly a graduate student, think that cities can be constituted by only wealthy people.
As Bugs would say–What a maroon!
and when its reduced to a shadow of itself, we will hear the cries of racism and fascism…
oh the humanity!
Followed by accusations of “gentrification” if someone invests in the remains of the neighborhood.
Seattle, like many of the Left Coast Metro enclaves, has turned themselves into Third World Socialist shitholes with their “free shit” programs and socialist policies.
Babblebabblebabblebabblebabble…
Yeah RIGHT Major moonbat, NOTHING is the fault of liberals and liberalism just like the homeless, feces and needles on the streets of San Foo-foo are all Trump’s fault, right?
Except these cities you claim have “nothing” are all the wealthiest cities in the country, and in states that contribute more to federal revenue than they get back in federal spending.
There is a major exodus from your liberal utopias. People are taking their money elsewhere
nope. please read at BLS.gov to find out that you are (as always) wrong.
NYC, Seattle, Chicago, Minneapolis, etc are among the HIGHEST recipients of federal dollars and state dollars and among the LOWEST payers.
You may ask how that might be…well, it is in the 2/3 of the federal budget that is “non-discretionary”. Those funds are flowing into these craptastic open sores of natalism and post-communist soycialism (you know, people like yourself) in the literal trillions of dollars.
I also don’t think you have a fucking clue what “liberalism” means.
You sound like a confused moron being so vehemently against it.
Well, you are at least partially correct when you say – and I quote – “I also DON’T THINK”.
Gotcha! At least you admit to it.
Absolutely amazing how so many of your own terms: confused, moronic, vehement, seem to turn around and smack you in the mouth.
Almost as if you’re fighting a war against yourself…
Look up the word “liberalism”.
Actually, I think you are against “liberalism”.
You are as Hobbesian as it gets.
Commissar: “When I say a word, it means what I say it means, nothing less and nothing more.” (Channelling Humpty Dumpty in “Alice in Wonderland” and meeting the requirements of editing the “Newspeak Dictionary”)
What liberalism claims to be is often diametrically opposed to liberalism’s results.
Usually I sit in the sidelines with your comments as I agree in several ways. As I stated previously, I lean left on some things.
But your argument is moot as it is ineffective and empty.
“New businesses will open in their place?”
It seems you of all folks would be a little more compassionate to the plight of these people who have had their livelihood’s destroyed (through no fault of their own).
But hey, another liquor store will follow, right? As long as you can get your drink on, who gives a damn who sells it to you. Right?
^THIS^
Lotta room for badly needed ropa usadas…
The Free Shit Army needs to get Everclear for the Molotov Cocktails and MD 2020 to fuel their rage…
I am sympathetic to the plight of businesses that are struggling this year.
But claiming they are “moving out of state because of “liberals” is not the same as going out of business.
I have no sympathy for the opportunistic attempt at a propaganda narrative.
“New businesses will open in their place.”
Maybe. After a long enough period of time to assure the newcomers that they will not meet the same fate as their predecessors. Those that do will require more initial capital to build new buildings and pay higher insurance premiums.
And all the while those businesses sit empty, that is just tax revenue not being generated. Don’t worry, the city won’t cut tighten their belts and cut the fat from the budget, they will just increase taxes, driving even more businesses and residents to flee.
“The city has completely transformed over the last 20 years”
That’s putting it mildly.
You are a complete piece of shit Lars.
None of this needed to even happen in the first place but.. meh, so long as your best friends get to have fun trashing a city and between tossing your own Molotov cocktails you get to patch them up playing street medic it’s all cool, right?
You really are a total cocksucker. Seriously.
The protests are not what is causing the businesses to close, asshat.
That is a bullshit narrative.
You’re not wrong.. It’s the leftist lockdowns that forced businesses to close…
The riots are just preventing them from ever reopening…
Older businesses were burned and looted. Then burned again. Individuals looking to invest in Seattle look at that, crushing taxes, and say hell no. The people who did the burning and looting will not suffer from this, they give zero fucks. The owners and customers of those businesses suffer. And those businesses ain’t coming back.
But they weren’t.
You just made that shit up.
So no businesses or buildings have been damaged or destroyed by the mostly peaceful riots? Neighborhoods haven’t lost local businesses? Show me I’m wrong, whip out that empirical data. You’re a fraud.
Thus you self-identify as the Active/Stupid type.
So having one’s store burnt up by your Antifa/BLM pals has nothing to do with the decision to leave Seattle, it is those damn business taxes. Yeah, the rioting, looting, and arson have nothing to do with that move.
Where’d “kid” come from? Belay that word.
Spoken like a sailor, rgr769. Done.
Now if you could just unfuck Lars’ comments that easily…😉
Thanks. Actually, I used that word at Ranger school. I had to yell “on belay” more than a few times in the mountain phase.
Which store? You act like it an epidemic that is going on for months.
Which stores have been burned down?
I know there has been damage and destruction.
Hardly any were burned.
Most targeted were national chains.
There are over 90,000 businesses in Seattle. Less than 200 have been damaged. And the number burned is so few I am struggling to find any.
well, we could start with the pawn shop outside which David Dorn was shot and killed… Don’t remember his name? ooh, that muse be because he’s not the “right” kind of black.. he was the retired police officer checking on a friends (also black) business…Spend 5 minutes searching online, and you’ll find tons more.. The car dealership in Kenosha would have been another if not for the actions of those like Kyle Rittenhouse..
And it’s ok if it’s a national chain?? You leftists scream and whine about “food deserts” in the cities where minorities can’t buy healthy food, yet you ensure that those national chain grocery stores look at the risk / benefit of opening a store in such dem run shitholes and realize that they have far more to lose than to gain.. Stores other than grocery are capable of the same risk / benefit. That’s why in many of these areas, liquor stores, check cashing joints and bail bonds are the only businesses… ooh, and pawn shops (until they get burned out).
You’re a liar or a fool Commissar..(yes, I believe in the power of “and”, especially in cases like this)

Dummissar knows full well that his ilk have left places like Minneapolis looking like Mogadishu and he is completely fine with that.
Why? Because he (like Marx) considers all business owners to be capitalists and capitalists are jews, not blacks, whites, hispanic, etc. You see, for Marx capitalist = jew and non-capitalist = philistine.
Once you understand that Marxism is not an economic system, but a racial system you understand why oh so white lefties are completely fine with the murder rate in the black population, burning black owned businesses, and exploiting black problems for their own ends. They don’t see them as black, but as jews.
And for a leftist, jews are vermin to be exterminated.
By the way, this is also the reason the modern left’s claim that Hitler was “right wing” is so hysterically false. Hitler was the most faithful Marxist ever.
This is covered better than I can do so here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZh01xRO_Qg
So here’s to you Dummissar! White supremacist and dumbass that you are.
REKT again.
Seattle is past circling the drain. KOMO news has a youtube video from last year called “Seattle is dying”. See it before visiting.
Public defecation, homeless tent camping on downtown sidewalks, flagrant unprosecuted shoplifting, assaults and open air drug deals. The two story McDonalds downtown had to close their second floor dining room due drug dealers hitting up diners to buy heroin or methamphetamine. Seattle and King County no longer prosecute “personal possession” amounts of 3 grams (60 doses +/-) of heroin or meth.
I no longer let my wife ride the bus into the city to take out of state visitors for a tour. I drive them to the waterfront and wait nearby in the car to get them the hell out of there. We spend NO money in Seattle/King County.
WSB…Welcome South Boeing…but leave all of the current Washington State employees up there. We gots a’plenty of folks down here that would like a job building airplanes. It ain’t like we’ve haven’t built them before…and are still building some.
Not sure what Madam Marxist Mayor has in mind for her long term Great Leap Forward. Is it to drive the price of Real Estate low so her friends or Chinese Communist Marxists or Antifa connections can buy it up cheap. Saw a blurb on Boeing leaving on the national news the other day. The union rep was saying something to the effect that the union would fight to keep those jobs in Seattle. Bwaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Good soundbite for the evening news dick head, but news flash for those that believe him. The union will sell you out brother and sister craft worker, the Company will officially tell the union and the City to go pound sand and could eventually move the entire operation elsewhere. The Company is all about the bottom line and profits for them and the shareholders mean a hell of a lot more than kowtowing to a union or city. Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company told the Georgia Guv a few years back that if he raised the tax on cigs, they would shut down their plant in Macon GA and move it to NC. Guv didn’t think they would, he pushed thru his cig tax and the next day, B&W Announced the closing of that multi-million dollar plant and the loss of nearly 3K jobs paying an average of $35 an hour. The plant building (it’s HUUUUUUGE) is still empty. But I digress.
Homeboy Real Estate Agent needs to either find him a new gig, or move…quick. I wish him luck.
Same thing with the Janesville, WI, assembly plant for GM in 2008 – one day everyone is working, the next thing they know, it is shuttered and they are out of jobs, period. That assembly plant had been in operation since 1919, and it was gone less than a century later.
There were other similar events, went on for months. Not much difference now. If the city’s governance isn’t business-friendly, the companies small and big alike will roll up their welcome mats and skedaddle out the door.
^Word^ Yes’um, B&W was just one, big, quick example that’s local. Many more that were affected by local politicians AND “quality of life” issues. Read crime, schools, taxes, mandates to hire undesirables; tho you won’t read that in an official. And you have other examples of local politicians running off businesses so their buddies could get the dirt for a little or nothing. Example, GM closing down the Doraville Plant on the NE side of Atl; Ford closing the Hapeville Taurus Plant (most modern, most productive, most profitable) on the south side. Allowing BRAC to shut down Ft MacPherson (prime real estate that Tyler Perry and other “minorities” ended up with for a very low price), Ft Gillem on the SE side (a HUUUUGE logistics and supply post for the Army) snapped up by developers for Supply Chain operations. All of that compliments of the city fathers/mothers/muthers of the ATL.
And don’t get me started on Historical Properties that have been destroyed by grifting politicians and developers that have built commercial properties that are sitting there empty with weeds growing throughout. GRRRRRRR
You are correct in that both the Doraville and Hapeville plants were extremely productive. Though, to some extent the ATL auto plants also suffered from urban logistical issues and traffic delaying just in time parts deliveries. Doraville had likely been on track for closure for years as it was GMs only plant not brought on to their global manufacturing system and was not terribly modern compared to their other plants. Not sure how much longer a sweetheart deal would have kept either shop in the ATL. It seems we have lost a lot of our GA manufacturing jobs to warehouse work, that don’t pay as well.
I think there’s a sea change coming on, 5th/77th. Just don’t know which way the wind will blow on it. Those MI wankers who got arrested jumped the gun on themselves, badly so.
Don’t know which way things will go, but it won’t be simple stuff.
Trump, an overweight man in his 70s, beat COVID over a weekend.
Mad cow insane democrat mayors and govenors destroyed their economies and threw millions out of their jobs over a lie.
The mostly peaceful riots were icing on the cake.
Has the other shoe dropped yet? Just askinn’ for a friend.
And, in Portland, OR, to the south of Seattle, things are getting worse… destructive left/libtard mayor Ted Wheeler is getting voted out of office (in favor of an even worse progressive) by these crudity-spouting folk:
https://twitter.com/ElijahSchaffer/status/1313259774239268869
That fellow seems upset, for some reason.
Mayor Wheeler of Portland is up for reelection. He faces Sarah Iannarone, who professes to be a member of Antifa. She is leading him double digits in the campaign. Her campaign manager professes to be a Communist.
Here is a picture of her, courtesy of Andy Ngo, at a campaign event wearing a skirt adorned with pictures of Mao Zedong, Joseph Stalin and Che Guevara.

Lars probably got all wet and worked up seeing that on her…
I think the only hope that Seattle has is to pull a turnaround like New York City did after Mayor Guiliani was elected. NYC was bad enough for so many years that Guiliani was able to put policies in place on crime and city management that gave people confidence that the city was safe enough to visit, to live in, and build a business. Yes, there were cases of police brutality, but the “broken window policing” made the city safe again. I traveled there many times for work in the late 1990’s and had no worries walking from the subway stop to the hotel at night.
But during that time there was an attitude in the country that crime of all sorts was out of control. The federal gov’t put crime bills in place with 3-strikes and other tough provisions. There’s not the stomach for such laws today.
So, Seattle has some time to stew before things get better. And there’s no guarantee the political climate will ever again allow a crackdown on crime like NYC had.
Three strikes laws are “racist” (unless Biden wrote them). I have even seen where some are calling to eliminate background checks as racist, since getting a record is a symptom of The System oppressing POC. It isn’t a dirtbag committing a crime, it is The System making him/her/it do it!
Venezuela was certain that once they deposed, fleeced, and ran off all the free market types, their economic situation would bloom and grow.
Funny how that is always the Marxist plan, and “shithole” is always the result. But they assure us that -this- time it will all work out.
A member of the Boeing Board of Directors singing a song.
I’m leaving with my jet planes, don’t think I’ll be back again.
Live 40 miles south of Seattle near JBLM. I’m retired Wife works from home. We just bought a home in Arizona. Housing prices still rising here. Hope to sell in January and adios.
Ahhh….the well reasoned and educated statement of “more businesses” will magically appear. No need to consider insurance rates that scale with the size of business, decreased tax base from people with means fleeing, LEO agencies loosing good officers who have other options at the cyclic rate, etc… Everything will work out because Ayers, Alinsky, Mao, and Marx said so.
I should be shocked that someone with a degree can think this shallowly, but I’m not. I’ve spent enough time in college classes and the private sector to realize political zealots are some of the worst sort of ignoramuses. To paraphrase Yoda “suffer from willful dumbassery, you do.”
The only part that pains me is the sane and decent Americans who don’t have the financial means to leave are stuck suffering from this kind of wishful ivory tower bullshit.
The ironic part is these morons have set the stage to kill off mom and pop operations entirely in their localities. The only folks that have the capital and risk tolerance for operating in these kinds of environments are companies like Walmart and dollar general. Thus ensuring capital is siphoned out of the neighborhoods and away from the very people they claim to support.
But that’s okay. It’s not like the turds fomenting this discontent and destruction actually live in the neighborhoods which will suffer. They have the Mother Theresa mindset of suffering=nobility (as long as they aren’t the ones suffering). The funny part is if they ever got the revolution they seem to want so bad, they wouldn’t be happy with their outcome.
Life’s tough. It’s even tougher when you’re stupid.
And the billionaire oligarchs funding this nonsense would never use their footsoldiers to make ground fertile for oligarchs.
Neo-feudalism hires AstroTurfFa
To Lars and his fellow travelers, people and their lives and livelihoods are just game pieces on his global Marxist revolutionary chessboard, and are to be sacrificed as necessary like pawns and rooks to advance the cause. Call it collateral damage, cracked eggs for the omelet, acceptable losses, etc., it doesn’t really matter; the words may change, but the song remains the same…
So he doesn’t know how Stalin made people disappear completely from everything, every record, every photo, every news article, if they pissed him off?
How sad!! But then, why would Joe Stalin care, anyway? They were just “things” to him.
I’m just going to leave this righ’cher, let y’all partake:
“Now, as you see, we have the material base which enables us to replace the kulak output by the output of the collective farms and state farms. It is for this very reason that our determined offensive against the kulaks is now meeting with undeniable success.
{12} That is how an offensive against the kulaks must be carried on, if we mean a genuine and determined offensive and not mere futile declamations against the kulaks.
{13} That is why we have recently passed from the policy of restricting the exploiting tendencies of the kulaks to the policy of eliminating the kulaks as a class.” — Stalin

Yeah…
I just read one of the dumbest things I think I’ve ever read here on the ‘net, but here I go feeding into that man-child’s “logic”, again.
Something about businesses will fill the void left by Boeing…
{wave transition to a more utopian future}
The national GDP spikes and local economy become absolutely f**king boomtown when Ted and Sheila’s Yoga Studio opens in the damn hanger the 777Max was made in, and/or turned into a giant indoor grow facility for “medicinal” pot.
The engine hoists will be turned into modern art pieces by the local community college metal sculpting club.
The runway will be turned into a giant Bernie bro/BLM mural! Local prices for paint skyrocket and jobs! Or something.
Think about the possibilities you dirty capitalist criminals!
{jump cut back to this sad reality}
You’re a dick. A child. Maybe a dickless child, I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure you have no clue how or why a business and economy work.
Full disclosure: I haven’t had a position in BA within the last 6 months and quite frankly I hate the company, their management, the business model, their products, the way the dividends and stock by-backs were created, last but not least, the bailouts ON TOP of the gov contracts that kept the company afloat…ish. Basically, Boneing is a financial company that occasionally craps out an airplane that kills a bunch of people.
‘Evil’ doesn’t come close to describing…
Let ‘em die.
Sounds like Bristol-Myers when they broke up my company back in the late eighties and laid off my entire department, all of whom were almost fifty or older and had close to or more than twenty years service, seriously screwing our pensions.
So many lives destroyed or seriously disrupted for nothing more than improving the bottom line. Ol’ Poe is no lefty, but he’s not a fan of unfettered capitalism either.
It is coldly heartless and brutal…
“It is coldly heartless and brutal…“
Amen.
I wouldn’t call it ‘capitalism’, it’s more like financialization.
Somebody should tell those a-holes that moving around numbers ain’t work.
“Capitalism is the exploitation of men by other men. Communism is, of course, the opposite.”
Poe, it’s 19th century robber baronism, not capitalism. Got lotsa cash, pull a Bloomberg and buy out your competition. Monopoly laws be damned! Just label your “buy out” as part of a conglomerate, and hey, presto! You’re still within the legal limits of running a monopoly.
Why did Amazon get so big? Because it’s a “rep” for everyone who has a product to sell. Post it on Amazon and you’ll find a market with only a modest amount of advertising costs involved. Amazon gets a royalty or a percentage of everything they post online. All they do is “rep” other people. If you can’t find it on Amazon, it’s because they don’t know about it just yet.
https://www.connect.media/amazon-to-vacate-slu-building/
I wonder what business is going to fill the gap of Amazon’s 1,000 HR people? It’s almost as if businesses require a stable environment to conduct business.
We are waiting with baited breath to hear you pontificate on this Commissar.
