Biden names Kamala Harris his running mate

| August 11, 2020

Biden-Harris 2020

Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) has been named as former Vice President Joe Biden’s running mate as he runs for President of the United States from his basement. She is the first black female to feature on a major party’s presidential ticket.

Harris was a bit of a surprise pick. During the early days of the 2020 election cycle, she ran against Biden (and others) for the Democratic nomination. During that process she challenged Biden on his (how do I say this diplomatically) troubling history when it comes to policy around African Americans. She directly attacked him more than once.

Harris also has her troubling history. As a district attorney in San Francisco and later as California Attorney General she pursued drug cases, allegedly used legal technicalities to keep wrongfully convicted people behind bars, and was actually a centrist on criminal justice positions throughout her tenure at the state and local level. She now has positioned herself as the original progressive prosecutor, but her record doesn’t reflect that.

She’s been accused of sleeping her way into government positions. Biden, known for swimming in the nude in front of his female Secret Service detail (and likely being one of two sitting US Senators at the time that kept the Senate’s pool male-only well into the 21st Century so they could swim bare-assed), probably was not turned off by that character trait.

Harris’ lack of charm and authenticity will be a problem if you ask me. The one thing Biden always had was his likeable, pleasant, down to earth demeanor (along with all the casual racism of a guy two generations removed from modern society). Now that he’s slipping from his tenuous grasp on reality, can’t remember who he is, where he is, what office he’s running for, or which woman (correction, human being presently identifying as female) behind him is his wife and which is his sister, he needed to pick a running mate that would tick some boxes. Harris doesn’t tick any of the boxes except black and woman. Which to be honest is all that Biden was looking for.

Next week Biden might have to announce that when he said “Kamala Harris”, he meant “Karen Bass”, but all those liberal women from California sound and look alike to him.

I guess that means she is black?

  2. 5th/77th FA says:

All the dims have to do now is figure out exactly how many votes they need to stuff in the box in order to steal this election.

Ain’t this just ducky. There is NO WAY that they can defeat Trump/Pence in a real election. She is NOT Black, her ancestors owned hundreds of slaves, had very little support for her own campaign…Need I say more?

We now know who they want to be the President of the US. Wonder who SHE is going to pick as HER running mate when old groping creepy joe drops over dead?

  3. E4 Mafia '83-'87 says:

She didn’t even make it to the primaries which means Democrats didn’t think too much of her. Black females are the most loyal (D) voters, so she brings in no one new. Black men will voter for the guy that had policies putting them to work instead of the combo that put black men in jail. Plus, she crushed Joe during a debate when she exposed his racism, and she believed the Biden accuser about sexual assault. Are we sure the DNC isn’t throwing this election? Cue the racism & misogyny excuses starting Nov 4.

  4. 26Limabeans says:

“Harris got her start working under Willie Brown”

    Hat tip to Howie Carr.

Welcome to you new dynamic demonrat duo: Blank and Skank…

  6. FuzeVT says:

So who is she going to pick as her running mate?

  7. E4 Mafia '83-'87 says:

One of the best things about Harris being Biden’s VP pick is the some of the best attacks on Biden were by Harris herself. Just roll that debate footage…

  8. Twist says:

How appropriate that the man who wrote the law that led to the mass incarceration of black men chose a woman who put or kept many black men in prison by suspect means. I wonder what mental gymnastics the identity politics Democrats have to do in order to excuse this.

  9. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Who did Harris know or blow to get THAT?

  10. Jarhead says:

How long will it be until CRS Joe refers to her as his pickaninny sister?

    • AW1Ed says:

Terms like that, even in jest, do nothing to either amuse or further your point, Jarhead, at least around here. Rather the opposite. You need to reevaluate your audience at TAH if you wish to continue to make comments at all.

I’m not going to delete or even edit the comment, but leave it as is with the unstated point that this is not who we are or what we promote.

I sincerely hope this is the last time I need to bring this up. I have served with fine people across many spectra to tolerate bullshit like this.

If anyone needs clarification on this position please ask.

    • Graybeard says:

      I 2nd AW1Ed’s reprimand, Jarhead.

      Not who we are here.

    Sniff test.

    • Berliner says:

I bet Stacey Abrams is pi$$ed she didn’t pass the Biden “hair smell test”. Heard there is a chance she will finally concede the 2018 gubernatorial election she lost.

I’m just disappointed I can’t make a Joe Biden “Hey, Kool Aid!” meme with her showing up in a red dress “Oh, Yeah!” now.

Kamela “Me Love You Long Time” Harris

  13. Penguinman000 says:

And with this and AOC talking about nominating Bernie at the convention; we get to witness the left eat itself. There is no way this ends well. The dems are running an establishment white guy and a former prosecutor. All while feeding the identity politics machine.

It won’t end well for them but should be entertaining to watch.

    • The Other Whitey says:

Said prosecutor brags about smoking weed and listening to hip-hop in the same breath as boasting of how she fill California’s prisons with people busted for having half a joint in their pocket. I’m not a cannabis advocate by any means, but I think we can all agree that she’s a disgusting two-faced twat.

  14. Slow Joe says:

    When is the first debate?

    • Commissar says:

People who ask for debates in politics are always from the campaign that is losing.

Biden is going to give Trump as few debates as possible.

      • David says:

yeah, but he will have to give up some. As contentious as his base is, if he isn’t willing to stand up and trade punches with Trump, he will lose more support than Trump will. Trump tends to make verbal gaffes, but Joe tends to get incoherent. About the only positive thing Biden could do is hope he looks so bad people feel sorry for him. He would almost be better off pleading COVID and sending Harris in to debate Trump.

        • Just Lurkin says:

Since 1920 three sitting Presidents have garnered more primary votes than their opponent in the general election (Ike, Clinton and Reagan) all won landslides for re-election. Trump had 300,000 more primary votes this year than did Joe.

      • Poetrooper says:

People who run from debates in politics have no faith in their candidate.

Everyone on both sides could see this coming. The extent to which you support Biden’s running from the debates simply shows us what a shameless party shill you are Lars.

      • Mason says:

You’re right that Biden is going to give Trump as few debates as possible. Like the Biden campaign admits, Biden does best when he’s not in public.

        • rgr769 says:

He also does best when his script is in front of him. Hell, his controllers even gave him a script for his face-time call to Kamala To inform her of his pick. His campaign geniuses allowed a photo of him in front of his computer screen to get out that showed his script of what he was to say to her. Of course, the DNC’s Progda promptly cropped that out of their images.

      • The Other Whitey says:

Trump will make Biden his bitch on the debate stage and you know it, Lars. That’s why you and yours are dreading it.

      • SFC D says:

In what world does that even make sense? Politics is one, long, drawn-out debate. It’s just not always televised and face-to-face.

  15. NHSparky says:

    Joe and the Hoe.

    • Commissar says:

Yeah, use that. That line is not going to expand Trump’s support. And his support is shrunk over the last four years.

      • 11B-Mailclerk says:

You have earned an epic reputation on both accuracy and credibility.

        Being way off.

There are two kinds of lawn signs around here.
The standard Trump sign and a few “Dump Trump” signs.
“Dump Trump” is an important sign because of what
        it “doesn’t” say.

I have yet to see a Biden sign. That tells me the
“dump” Trumpers are going to stay home.

        • UpNorth says:

Same here in Michigan, 26. Went to Saginaw last week, all kinds of Trump/Pence signs, which were outnumbered by the “My governor is an idiot” signs. No signs for Pervy Joe, and Saginaw is usually up for grabs in the elections.

      • OldManchu says:

I bet you are proud to be a Democrat today. Baaaahahahaha.

      • Green Thumb says:

To the media it has shrunk.

        Polls are unrealistic hence 2016.

But a good article the other day showed a huge Democratic registration surge in the month (500k+) after the death of Floyd.

Two paragraphs later, at the bottom, the Republican eclipsed it two months later.

Got to read to the bottom to get the facts.

  16. Andy11M says:

Wait, didn’t Kamala say she believed all the women that had come forward to accuse Creepy Joe of being creepy? How quickly the left forgets.

  17. 11B-Mailclerk says:

They both have past baggage that annoy the Donk base. All of that will be brought up.

And he should have said “I will pick the best candidate, without regard to…”

    -then- picked Harris.

Because that would minimize all the “affirmative action” crap. Instead, that doddering fool -maximized- that crap.

Totally stupid and inept way to go, Joe.

      You are absolutely right.

A party that is so fixated on gender and race is a party with blinders.

  18. Just Lurkin says:

She’s a complete lightweight. Remember when she was asked on the campaign trail about Jussie Smollett? She just froze up and couldn’t think on her feet. That was just after she tweeted in support of Jussie and the story was big in the news. She was utterly unprepared for the question, she’s dim.

    • rgr769 says:

She didn’t earn her D-rat political knee pads by being a deep thinker. Just ask Willie. He has literally plumbed her depths.

      • Berliner says:

Willie Brown: “Yes, we dated. It was more than 20 years ago. Yes, I may have influenced her career by appointing her to two state commissions when I was Assembly speaker.”

Other reports say that once Kamala got the office she wanted from Brown, she dumped him. Brown made a cutesy reference to Kamala saying she was going to ticket him for jaywalking, which sounds like overkill, probably the kind of statement someone with a guilty conscience would make, not wanting anyone to know about how she got her office. What’s more, Harris has kept virtually all references to Brown out of her numerous memoirs on the market.

Some feminist she is. She slept her way to the top and now it’s out.

        • rgr769 says:

Willie has always been an admirer of the power of the poonani. Before and during the early days of his political career he was the pre-eminent Bay Area criminal defense attorney for hookers and their pimps. So I would be surprised if some of his fees weren’t paid in kind.

      • Just Lurkin says:

How does any person or entity “buy back” something it never owned? What they really mean is gun confiscation with some inadequate compensation. Demoncats are quite adept at euphemistic bullshit; they like to use terms that mean the opposite of what they are really up to.

    Kamala Harris Wheel Of Fortune….

  22. The Other Whitey says:

So Kammie Harris fucked Rapey Joe for a veep nod…now there’s an image I didn’t need.

That woman worked so hard on her back & knees for every appointment she ever got!

  23. Daisy Cutter says:

The irony of all of the prominent voices that called for Biden to pick a black woman for VP, some of them stating “or else”…

… will be the very same people that will say people are racist and sexist when they hear someone state that the person was picked because she was a black woman. Biden supporters will insist that they are outraged over that statement and will say that it is not true because it was that she was the most qualified and to suggest otherwise is racist.

This is why it is wrong for people to suggest, or in some cases threaten, that the choice had better be a black woman because it sets her up for failure.

If the person is the most qualified and happens to be a black female, then this is acceptable. But they got off on the wrong foot with (Biden) suggesting and (some in the black community) insisting that it be a black woman.

Mark my words, the argument in the future that she was picked because she was a black woman vs. being the most qualified will irritate the very people that are stating otherwise now – that it should be a black woman. They may even have the gumption to say it had nothing to do with race.

    In 3, 2, 1…

    • LC says:

There was a study out of Cornell a few years ago that looked at this exact thing in academia – women and minorities were preferentially hired, but then were promoted less often because their hiring was deemed as being based not on merit, but on needing diversity. Of course, policies were then changed to ensure diversity promotions, and now some students complain that the quality of teaching has gone done.

I think diversity is an admirable goal – there are, surely, well-qualified people across a diverse (racial, sexual orientation, political leanings, etc) spectrum of candidates, but it’s also an inevitable result of a meritocracy in hiring in a diverse country. Trying to short-circuit that process by filling quotas just leads to madness. I think Harris is better qualified than many, and may do a great job if elected, but I deeply oppose the ‘must-choose-a-‘ mantra for a lot of reasons, including the one you state – it undermines the very candidate selected.

      • Daisy Cutter says:

I have a friend that went to medical school and is a physician now.

I went to visit him one summer while he was in medical school. We were going out to lunch. While he was getting ready, I met and spoke with his roommate, who was black. He could not come to lunch with us because he had a class.

Later, when out with my friend I remarked that his roommate seemed very nice but I asked about summer classes. He shook his head and said it was a difficult situation. I asked “How so?”

He said that his roommate was chosen as a candidate for medical school based on his minority status in spite less-than-shinning academic achievement. Rather than state that he was academically under-qualified, they labeled it that he came from a background where he was not afforded competitive educational training compared to other medical school students.

So, in the school’s wisdom, they offered remedial courses in the summer, prior to their first year in order to get them up to speed and they can hit the ground running. I thought this was admirable and did not see how there was a problem.

He said that his roommate doesn’t see it the same way. He said he constantly complains that he is being singled out and picked on, piling on extra classes over and above the other students. When he openly complained to my roommate, the path of least resistance was to agree with him and change the subject, although my friend initially did offer other perspective that seemed to be met with resistance anyway.

This is a very common social phenomenon, that people will not persist in disagreeing with you since it is much easier to nod in agreement and move past an uncomfortable conversation. In psychology terms this is referred to as cognitive dissonance and people have a natural tendency to seek a solution to calm disturbed thoughts. However, it probably doesn’t help the other person since repeating their complaints only reinforces their outlook.

Perhaps this is happening on a larger scale? People “want to have a conversation” but the playing field is not equal in these conversations – one is at risk of losing their job if they say something that is in conflict with the other person’s belief. This leads to the fine art of placation, which some people have really mastered.

  24. Roh-Dog says:

Wait… the Senate has their own pool?! The only pool I have at work is my own sweat.
To anyone with two eyes and a brain, Harris should be honestly assessed as what she is: a monster.
Which leads me to a question, what favors of wings will we have for our victory party on 03 NOV?

  25. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

Well this does nothing to remove my belief that the DNC was far more interested in defeating the Sanders campaign and the progressive wing of their own party than they are in defeating Trump.

They now have two right of center candidates running against a right of center incumbent. Corporate America remains rather happy with the situation.

That’s a bold strategy indeed Cotton, let’s see how it plays out for them.

  26. ChipNASA says:
