Pete Buttigieg cared more about DEI initiatives than about air traffic control upgrades
Pete Buttigieg, former transportation secretary, had opportunities to upgrade the air traffic control systems while he was in office. He did not take those opportunities. Instead, Buttigieg focused on spending money on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. These grants were worth more than $80 billion during Buttigieg’s time in office.

Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg failed to replace outdated air traffic control systems while in office — with his agency instead shelling out tens of billions of dollars on a DEI agenda, according to federal spending records and airline industry insiders.
In one meeting, Buttigieg — who is said to be eyeing a 2028 presidential run — told industry executives that air traffic control upgrades would just allow them to fly more planes, “and so why would that be in his interest?” sources said.
What his department was really interested in was handing out hundreds of diversity, equity and inclusion grants totaling more than $80 billion over four years — at least half of the DOT’s entire budget for a typical fiscal year, records show.
“He was definitely pushing an agenda,” an air industry official said, noting the transportation secretary had “little to no interest” and took “definitely zero action” toward air traffic control modernization.
Buttigieg spent his time in President Joe Biden’s cabinet blaming the airlines for their delays and “vilifying” the industry as a whole while denying his department’s DEI agenda led to any air traffic control staffing shortages or was maintaining an ailing safety system that hasn’t been updated since the Carter administration, sources told The Post.

Love him or hate him, Trump represents the best chance that government has to right this ship.

Strangely when I search with DuckDuckGo, I get all kinds of results. I wonder why that is? I will be permanently uncoupling from Google today, their run is probably just about over.

So a little research reveals that for the most part the grants were just regular grants with a DEI label slapped on them. There was the usual graft, contract steering and pork barrel projects. Not that it makes it ok, but I was expecting a billion dollar study on which plane seat is best for a tranny to sit in.

A SkyWest pilot executed “an abrubt” maneuver on approach to Minot, North Dakota. To avoid a B52. In a video sent in by a passenger, the pilot explains to his passengers why they experienced a sudden and scary maneuver, in short, saying air traffic control told them to turn right. The pilot says he told the tower, “there’s a plane on my right” so the tower tells him to turn left. The pilot saw the aircraft, realized it was military and moving much faster, chose to turn behind said aircraft, identified as a B52.
The comments are full of idjits blaming Trump for gutting the FAA. The Minot tower does not have radar, does everything by visual approach and was staffed by a private company, not by the FAA.
Nearly every report includes that all important fact, except, wait for it, the leftie-loonies in some MSM outlets with terminal TDS. Also interesting to note is the Air Force coming out with a full statement detailing how, when, and how many ways the Minot tower was advised of the presence and flight path of the B52.
Expect this story to disappear quickly.

Buttplug was another DEI hire who “failed upwards” – just like the former Vice President, a former White House Press Secretary, and a sitting Supreme Court justice.
I recently heard on the radio that the predominant speculation why Buttplug spent so much on DEI programs was to appeal to the African-American community, with hopes to gain popularity among that group since he had aspirations to occupy the White House after the next election. Seems he’s not popular within that demographic of voters.
Apart from that, he was an abysmal failure as Secretary of Transportation: supply chain breakdown during the COVID-19 pandemic (remember all the container ships crowding ports waiting to be unloaded across the country?)
Then there was his failed response and lack of action after the train accident in East Palestine, Ohio.
Problems with the FAA were apparent and problems with air transportation and safety remained unresolved while he held that position.
I’d say he should EABOD, but that’s something he would enjoy.

The F35 will likely never fill the shoes of the F15. The F15 has never lost an aerial combat and shot down over a hundred opposing planes. 104-0 is a pretty good record. It turned out having that “extra” guy was worlds useful.
Giveth time, I expect the 35 will outperform everything in the air, past and present.

Biden gave him the job because he dropped out somewhat early in the presidential race. That has to be the only reason, there were probably way more qualified state-level transportation heads than him.
Every FJB cabinet appointee and staff member existed only to appease the DEI gods. They served no other purpose. That includes heels-up Harris.
He was a lousy mayor. He couldn’t even get the potholes filled. I guess that is what qualified him to be Gropey Joe’s transportation secretary.
