Suspected burglar shot by Spokane homeowner told deputies he thought he was in friend’s house
SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office says a homeowner shot a suspected burglar after discovering him in his kitchen late Saturday night in West Spokane.
Deputies responded to the report of a burglary in progress at a home in the 2600 block of N. Colville Rd. around 11:55 p.m. on Saturday, April 4.
A victim said her husband was armed and had located an unknown male, later identified as 29-year-old Kenneth B. Caldero, inside the home. As deputies responded, a 911 operator advised two shots had been fired, and Caldero had reportedly fled from the home after being shot in the groin.
Deputies located Caldero upon arrival, who was yelling for help and bleeding profusely from his thigh a short distance from the home. After being detained safely, deputies gave medical attention to Caldero applying a tourniquet with assistance from an Airway Heights Police officer. Medical personnel arrived shortly after and attended to Caldero.
The homeowner told deputies he had been upstairs watching a movie with his wife and had just turned off the TV when he heard a noise in the kitchen. Being late in the night, he armed himself with a shotgun and investigated, finding Caldero using the microwave.

Lyft driver uses firearm in self defense after Cape Coral man pulls knife
Reporter: Justin Kase
When a Cape Coral man pulled a knife on a ride-share driver on Tuesday morning, the victim retrieved his firearm in self-defense and forced the suspect out of the car, authorities said.
The suspect, Adam John Mormon, 28, now faces a charge of Aggravate Assault.
While the Lyft driver was driving around 1:10 a.m., the passenger retrieved a small, black knife and began dictating where to drive. According to the Cape Coral Police Dept. arrest report, at the intersection of Chiquita Blvd and El Dorado Pkwy, Mormon banged the dashboard with the knife while waving it in a “threatening manner.”
The driver told Mormon to exit the vehicle because he was in fear for his life. When Mormon did not listen, the victim pulled out a firearm and told Mormon once again to exit the vehicle. The arrest report states that Mormon complied and the victim left the scene.
It is against Lyft’s policy to have any kind of weapon, with the consequences of being banned from the company. People living nearby do not want to see the driver face any kind of consequences from the company.
“You have to look at the situation,” said Joanne and Bob Syversen, “before you clamp down on exactly what the rule says or what the law says.”

Appellate Court Reinstates Challenge to Maryland’s Handgun Licensing Scheme
Last Monday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit reinstated an NRA-supported challenge to Maryland’s convoluted handgun licensing scheme. An earlier trial court decision had dismissed the case on technical grounds, claiming the plaintiffs lacked standing to bring the lawsuit. Three judges of the Fourth Circuit overruled that erroneous decision, finding that a gun store plaintiff has standing to raise a Second Amendment challenge on behalf of its customers. The case is Maryland Shall Issue v. Hogan.
The case arose from a law enacted in 2013 that requires those seeking to obtain a handgun in Maryland to first obtain a license, a process that involves potentially hundreds of dollars in fees, various sorts of red tape, mandatory training, a waiting period of up to 30 days, and a background check. This license entitles the holder to receive a handgun from a licensed dealer in a sale, rental, or other transfer … albeit after repeating a background check and filling out additional paperwork at the dealer’s shop. A violation of the handgun licensing requirements could result in up to 5 years imprisonment, a $10,000 fine, and lifetime loss of Second Amendment rights. The plaintiffs in the case – which include individual persons, an advocacy group, and a gun shop – challenged the duplicative and burdensome licensing requirement as contrary to the Second Amendment, among other legal deficiencies.
In terms of standing, the individual plaintiffs in the case argued that, despite being law-abiding citizens, they were unable to fulfill the many requirements necessary to receive a handgun license and were effectively prevented by the requirement from exercising their rights. The advocacy group argued the requirement caused it institutional harm by suppressing its members’ exercise of their Second Amendment rights and forcing it to expend resources on litigating the law’s unconstitutional requirements. Finally, the gun store claimed that the handgun licensing requirement effectively prohibited otherwise eligible and willing customers from obtaining handguns and therefore affected the store’s bottom line by shrinking its potential customer base.

It’s been a long time since the PDRofMD’s gungrabbers have suffered a set-back in their quest to disarm law-abiding citizens. Let’s all hope this is one of those times.

“35 Shot, 3 Killed”
That’s almost a 12:1 ratio and not unlike most weekend reports
from other major cities.
I’m guessing the Vietnam War was about 5:1 for all casualties
so the question is, are gangbangers bad marksmen or is the
Chicago emergency medical care getting better?
Or maybe most of the wounded are non-combatants like a kid
in a crib next door. Sad state of affairs.
OK I’m here & been here for awhile. Between a multitude of comments that came in over night and all the good linkys that the Aeronautically Designated Aviator laid out as Gun Bunny Traps it took me a bit. He does that purposely, just to keep me distracted and out of his hair, y’all know that, don’t you? Not that there is anything wrong with that. I do things to keep myself distracted and out of my hair my ownself. It ain’t like I’m sniffing or anything, it’s more of that (GO) Army (BEAT) Navy thing.
Nothing at all wrong about a trip down memory lane OR Commie gunz pr0n. And as usual, even Commie gunz will make reference to copying from the his most Saintly JMB’s designs. Kinda makes you proud, don’t it?
One for sure good thing about the archives is you can sometimes find a little gold nugget buried in their update section. Ran into this one, take a minute to peruse, it’ll warm the cockles of your Black Irish Hearts. It did mine!

Adding to a chance for you to feel good, I may have to go black and off the net for a day or so this pm. Don’t get too excited, I plan on being back, eventually if not sooner.

I really like my Tokarev Zastava M57 or as the Soviet calls it… Tee Tee
One of the few rounds that I can not reload… yet.
But, it is fun to shoot and scary powerful.
The numbers in Chiraq may be a bit lower, as many of the Black Looters Matter gang were busy….looting.
.30 Luger is very similar in dimensions to 7.62 Tokarev.
Don’t put the Russian stuff in the German gun. Don’t.
