The state I live in used to be conservative. Now, we’re being out numbered by both, the home grown, as well as those migrating from the northeast. They’re bringing their philosophy with them. Once my state goes down the crapper, folk will be seeking “better opportunities” to slowly ruin with their philosophy. It’s a slow process, and it’s spreading.
That’s exactly the problem thebesig. Enough of “them” are moving into areas and diluting the folks with some sense, and it’s working. The GA Guvanator race is a classic example. If you look at the state as a whole, it’s pretty red. You look at the counties that went for the blue, it’s a small section of the state, but it includes the major metro areas. They are taking over by legislation. 5 states in this country have the #s to swing any national election their way. If it were not for the electoral college, we would have been sunk years ago. Many of these SJW/socialist leaning people have never been to a real sh^#hole country, or dealt with an oppressive government. They haven’t been taught any true history in several decades and they believe whatever they’re told by left leaning professors and news media. I am concerned that what we are seeing today is just going to get worse.
Using history as a guide, we’re due to continue the decline that we were in prior to Donald Trump taking action. His “Make America Great Again” slogan was appropriate. What he’s doing is going to save the Republic, in the long run, if his initiatives could continue after he leaves office.
However, if the left gets its way, the process in place before President Trump took office would go into full swing. Where the Europeans are now is where the Democrats want to take us. Europe is fading and, if the Democrats get their way, we will too.
A good book to read is Death of the West, by Patrick Buchanan. The Democrat game plan, to gain an electoral advantage through demographic shift, works congruent with the kind of demographic shift that ends a culture and replaces it with another one.
Conservatives argue for principles that made this country great… Respect for the laws of nature, the laws of God, etc., that facilitates our actions within a free market. These are what helps drive us to remain a wealthy nation.
Democrats want to fundamentally change that. This decade showed us where the Democrats are headed… And where they’ll take us once they gain majorities, and the White House.
Going back to the above book, the similarities the book describes for today, to the Late Antiquity period of Roman Rule and what’s going on regarding demographic (and philosophy) shift is a draw dropper.
Remove the Trump effect, and with the left doing what it’s doing, regarding population shift, etc., and we’ll be on our way to the off ramp to history.
There’s a saying that Rome didn’t fall until her freed men lost the will to fight. A couple thousand years from now, that saying could very well be, “The United States disintegrated when her citizens abdicated their responsibilities as citizens of a superpower and started acting provincial.”

So far, that projection is still holding. Winter hit many areas in this country early. It also hit many areas in the northern hemisphere earlier than normal.
An El Niño has kicked in, it looks like it’s going to contribute to the snowfall.
The extremes we’re seeing are partly due to a larger polar air mass… The jet stream now troughs further south, and crests further north.
I just read an article talking about research saying that ice ages contain super el niños. I read another one talking about ow the entire polar ice sheet (Arctic) would actually disappear right before mega glaciation, followed by frequent summer disappearances during the mega glaciation.
Having a dormant, sleepy, snoring sun since about 2006 helps that develop. We already had our first snow on Thursday last week. Annoying.

Something changed in the sun in 2006, and the weather behaved accordingly. I started tracking global weather the following year.
What happened in 2006 was an enormous CME, a flare that was the biggest and brightest and fiercest explosion by the Sun on record. After that, the Sun went completely quiet. There have been (I think) three big EMPs/CMEs since then, and holes showing up in the Sun’s magnetic field.
The strangest part of the 2006 CME was that the Sun did not flip its magnetic poles to mark the end of the solar cycle, the way it usually does.
And also, the solar physicists suddenly realized that there were no sunspots. Period.
The few that have appeared since then have been smaller than usual, some as small as the Earth.
We had an unusually mild winter here last year. It only hit -30 for about a week last year. It’s weird when it’s warmer in Alaska in the winter than it is in a lot of the lower 48. We are projected to have a harsh winter this year, but it’s starting slowly. I’m not used to it being a balmy 10F in November.

The guy has anger and control issues, and is not that different from the folk that we argue against here. He needs help, and he should accept it and take it seriously.
To be fair, if there’s merit to his statement that she assaulted him first, then her ass also needs to be charged… Then she should also be required to get help. Additionally, if there’s merit to his claim, and she didn’t leave a mark, he’s facing a system that’s going to believe her over him.
Seeking help won’t cure the fact that he is a corrupt, slimy, crooked, unethical “lawer.” And that is my opinion regarding his character. I wouldn’t believe anything he said, even if he was standing on a stack of bibles holding a lightning rod in a thunderstorm.

We must recognize all forms of domestic violence, not just what could be delivered by a stronger, bigger, man. Whether it’s just throwing something, or knocking someone out, anger, stress, and other issues are undercurrents that drive altercations. Forcing one side through the ringer, while letting the other side skate, only guarantees that domestic violence will be an issue that we’re going to keep dealing with rather than result.
Oh yes, the “She hit me first” defense. Has it EVER worked? Ask an attorney.

Many of these are legitimate. Studies have shown that in domestic violence cases, the women are more likely to initiate a strike. Unfortunately for the man, these strikes don’t leave a mark.
She has to leave a mark, or the police would actually have to see evidence of her initiating the assault, or committing it, for that defense to have a chance.
Absent that, the man is generally presumed to be wrong, and the woman presumed to be right.
I read in one instance where the state pressed charges against a woman that drove a steak knife through her husband’s wrists. This was a woman initiated domestic violence that involved both sides committing domestic violence.
The DA, in this case, dropped charges against the woman, and drummed up charges against the husband.
Didn’t say it never happens- it takes two, after all. Just asked if it ever worked.

The guy was a victim of domestic violence, evidence involving steak knife going through his arms. Even that didn’t get him out of a domestic violence charge… One brought up after dismissing the domestic violence charge against the one that stabbed his arm.
I’d imagine that if the guy did commit DV, and he’s being investigated for it, it wouldn’t help him if the woman assaulted him first. It might mitigate his situation, or they could just dismiss that accusation and continue to investigate him, then press charges.

Of course, he may have thought that the police were called to report his kicking the woman out, then he went in screaming that she hit him first… Hence why he threw her out, or did some other non violent act.
There are reports that she was bruised up bad, and another one showing that she was on the sidewalk, wearing sun glasses, saying that she was going to do something related to him.
She hit him because he told her to get out of a shared place? Or, he hit her because she hit him?

And this caught my eye: We’re told her face was “swollen and bruised” with “red marks” on both cheeks.

He needs to be disbarred or something.

The man is stronger and would leave evidence, but I wouldn’t dismiss his statement as his attempting to play the blame game. He made that statement as if he was protesting an unfair act. He indirectly admitted to commuting the assault.
There was a thread on the Army sub-reddit about domestic assault. The MPs jumped onto that thread and talked about how what initially was reported as a male on female domestic assault turned out to be unannounced cage fight/world wide wrestling matches.
I’m not defending Avenatti in this case. He’s being charged with a felony, so this isn’t the first time that he did this. His attitude related to President Trump indicates that he has anger and control issues, and that he needs help. Hopefully, he’ll learn some humility while in custody.
But, if there’s merit to his claim that she struck first, and nothing is done about it to hold her accountable for her acts, then she’s bringer her contribution to the issue to her next relationship.

Had wondered about this myself, since it had seemed to drop off the radar. Appears we will have to wait for the trial for “the rest of the story.” Correct me if I’m wrong, but back when, on a serious charge like this, the accused stayed in the stockade until the trial/UCMJ proceedings. Has that changed?
I had one of the men in my company in Germany sit in the stockade for about nine months waiting for the German authorities to take him to trial on a stabbing death of a German bartender. He and two other men from my company were acquitted. Turned out he wasn’t the one of the four men who accosted the bartender and who stabbed him when refusing to leave the whites-only civilian bar/club. The guilty one was part of a nearby artillery unit but wasn’t flagged and he derosed back to the states. So he was never tried. But I received a derogatory comment in my OER by the battalion commander because I almost succeeded in getting the innocent soldier sprung from the stockade. It seems our Brigade Commander, Col. Frank Plummer, unbeknownst to me, wanted someone locked up for this “heinous crime against the German people.” Just as a footnote that LTC who said I had “poor judgement” later became the three star CG of Sixth Army. Also, when a congressional committee investigating race problems in Germany in 1970 said there was no justification for only that PFC and not the other three charged to be in pre-trial confinement, the Col. and LTC exercised their “good judgment” to get him out of the stockade.
Thanks for the add on rgr. Seems like I remember some of that tale. I was in FRG 71 – 73 and we had some in the stockade in Mannheim (?) IIRC. We had a hold on a DEROS and an ETS until disposition of the cases. Most of those were for cases involving UCMJ, but there was some that involved the civilian authority. I saw up close an personal how the EER could adversely affect EM, it was even worse when s semi senior Officer shat upon another Officer with the OER. And usually, as in your case, it was to make the senior officer look good at the expense of their subordinate. When I made mention to the Battery Commander once on that subject, he wiggled a bit and just said, “sometimes the bear gets you.” I thought it odd in the link for this story that none of the accused were in “pretrial confinement.”
That incident in Germany and several others of blatant dishonesty and lack of professionalism is part of the reason I resigned my RA commission after 6 years of AD.

Has some body gone by to straighten up Sam Adams, John Hancock, Paul Revere’s ect al headstones? With all of the spinning they are doing, those stones have got to be caddy whompus. We down in Georgia are still waiting to see how many more lost, dead, provisional, or made up ballots Abrams can find. Even got a lawsuit on going down in the far southwest corner instigated by her sister, the judge. This is getting stupider and stupider every election. It sounds like the people of Maine wanted this kind of voting – and, frankly, I like it a lot better than the standard first-past-the-post style. With ranked voting, if you hate both the Democrats and the Republicans, you can put your first preference for someone else. Once they’re mathematically eliminated, your next still-in-the-running choice is used. This continues until, ultimately, your vote is counted or there aren’t any candidates you selected left.
It’s the best way to show support for more than the two-party system.
The system was voted in by referendum two years ago. The first district (large cities) made it pass while the 2nd district (election at hand) and comprised of small towns overwhelmingly rejected it.
It was shoved down our throat and that is why referendum is a liberals dream. Why bother with a legislative branch at all?
This is a Republic not a simple democracy. One person one vote. Ranked choice violates that principle.

Look, abstract this away from the reality of the Maine race – imagine, for a moment, you’re on a hiring board with 10 other people to select a new CEO. Five people really like candidate A and hated B, four people really like candidate B and hated A, and two people really like candidate C,.. but you know, they’d be pretty happy with B, too. They don’t think B is best for the job, but do think he’s a better option than ‘A’.
Who should win in this scenario? ‘A’ was liked by less than half of the people, whereas B was liked by more than half. It’s just that two of B’s supporters thought C was even better. It’s still one person getting one vote, they’re just getting to rank their preference for that vote.
It’s also fair to point out that the Maine results might’ve elected the Democrat directly had people not had the option of voting against him as their top choice, but for him as their second. Forced to make that choice, people might’ve just said, “Well, this sucks, but I can’t take the chance..”.
That’s why ranked voting is, in my opinion, better for the voter. It lets them express their wishes more clearly. Want to send a message? Vote for Darth Vader, then Satan, then pick an actual candidate. Your vote still counts, but the first-round results would sure be interesting!

It was just an example. Want a different one? In a Republican-heavy area, a Tea Party candidate and a traditional GOP candidate are both running against a Democrat. The two conservatives will split the vote without rank-voting, and the Democrat could win the election with (in theory) just over 33% of the vote. But if voters in the area can rank their choices, this doesn’t happen – whichever of the lower two conservatives is eliminated first, the ballots of those who voted for them switch to their next-ranked option, the other conservative. That person wins the election.
Again, it gives more freedom to the electorate and generally speaking is more representative of what the people in an area want on the whole.
It isn’t a party thing for me; I like more freedom in how I say who I want to represent me. I fail to see how that’s a bad thing.

Swap the parties and that is exactly what happened in Maine. LePage won two terms that way and he was the best guvnah evah!
The Dems hated it and referendumed Ranked Choice so that can no longer happen. And it worked!
If the Dems can’t win they change the rules, move the goal post, keep counting votes etc.

We, the USA has done more for the entire world, economy, standards of living, and promotion of freedom than every one else combined in the history of the world. We DO NOT want to become a shit hole country, yet it is being forced down our throats. May be if the draft had not of been done away with, and more snowflakes had to have had at least a small exposure to some of these places, then they would understand. We used to have a saying, Don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining. It is even more relevant today.
Ranked voting doesn’t inherently favor a particular party. It also doesn’t violate any principles of the Republic. You simply have more freedom -we’re still about that, right?- with your vote. You can encourage third parties, send a message, and yet still bite the bullet and resign yourself to the fact that one of two assholes, with either an R or a D after their name, is going to win. At least for now.
I get it. You hate the two party system. No amount of common sense is going to change that.
See above – it’s not even about that. It’s about giving voters more choice in who represents them. The fact that I dislike the two party system is irrelevant to the overall benefits.

Our large cities are already third world shitholes. Look at San Fran, Baltimore, and my home town Boston. Huge populations of non English speaking people forming their own enclaves with their own laws. And the Democrats love it. They have the votes to destroy the country, they just need to “adjust” the election laws to finish the job.

Holy good night. Here’s a guy who is 70 miles away with family when the fabricated event occurred. He is arrested on a bald complaint lodged by a crazy woman, his family has to raise $150,000 in bond, and the Army won’t take him b/c of the false charge. What’s more, he has to hire an attorney, have his name dragged through the mud, and be treated as a guilty suspect by police. That’s frightening as hell. I hope that chick has money and, if not, that she’s employed so she will have decades to see “garnishment” on her pay voucher.

I don’t know but, if so, I’m sure the waivers did not apply to politically incorrect charges. DV is a politically incorrect charge. Flag burning is okay. Drugs of a certain type and amt are okay. Fag taunting is not okay.
The Lautenberg Amendment would come into play for Domestic Violence convictions. There are folk who get charged with Domestic Violence, but get referred to a program for dealing with Anger Management.
This usually involves holding off on the conviction pending successful completion of court ordered programs, as well as completion of probation time.
In cases of recruiting, the second group may qualify for a waiver depending on the kinds of waiver allowed. The folks in the first group? Enlistment into the Army would generally be a slim to zero proposition.
For the person in the above link, who could prove that he wasn’t at his Ex’s location when the alleged incident occurred, for whom charges were dropped… I can’t see how this alone would stop him.
There might be something else. If not, he could get the help of a congressional office in his district.
Unfortunately, what’s described in the article is all to common, and not in isolation. When they had the “Believe the woman” baloney during the Kavanaugh Hearings, I didn’t see that as an isolated incident.
Still figuring out if charges would be pressed against his accuser? The Police telling him to quit pretending that he didn’t know what’s going on?
If you guys were to dig into this, you’ll open up another world that’s similar to the “Those who don’t believe in man made global warming are deniers” world.
