Seattle church event “swarmed” by protesters, Mayor blames Christians
A religious event in Seattle, partially led by organized by NW United Pastor Russell Johnson, was reportedly attacked by ‘hundreds’ of Antifa protesters May 31.
Organizers hosted a Mayday USA rally at Cal Anderson Park in Seattle on Saturday, which The Pursuit NW Pastor Russell Johnson helped lead. The event reportedly offered free haircuts, free bike giveaways and free groceries for the community as well as time for prayer and worship.
“[Saturday’s] event has, of course, been labeled by the media as some sort of anti-LGBT-type rally, and it wasn’t,” Johnson said Thursday on “The Ingraham Angle.”
“We were swarmed by hundreds of Antifa militants… They were throwing water-balloons filled with urine at Christians who stood in the park and were assaulted for the high crime of worshiping Jesus in a public space,” Johnson told Fox News host Laura Ingraham.
This being Seattle, of course the mayor lost no time in blaming the folks at the rally.
After police reported multiple arrests at Saturday’s rally, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell’s office released a statement defending the LGBTQ community and protesters while criticizing the “far-right rally” for provoking the violent reaction.
“Seattle is proud of our reputation as a welcoming, inclusive city for LGBTQ+ communities, and we stand with our trans neighbors when they face bigotry and injustice,” the statement read. “Today’s far-right rally was held here for this very reason — to provoke a reaction by promoting beliefs that are inherently opposed to our city’s values, in the heart of Seattle’s most prominent LGBTQ+ neighborhood.”
What were these radically hateful Christians doing – burning gays in gender-neutral effigy? Damning transgenders to the (however many gender-appropriate) pits of hell? Stoning lesbians en masse?
While a portion of the rally provided a space for parents and individuals who had de-transitioned to share their testimony and highlight concerns with transgender ideology, Johnson said it was done in an “uplifting, hopeful, God can change anything, Jesus has the power to transform your life” way.
“It wasn’t this Westboro Baptist, hateful rhetoric. It was people sharing a hopeful, optimistic outlook on what it looks like when God begins to work in your life,” he told Ingraham.
In response to the mayor, Johnson helped organize an event at Seattle City Hall on Tuesday, which he said was met with “similar” opposition from protesters.
“Antifa was out in force. They bloodied and beat up good church people who stood in line to try to get into a rally to sing hymns and worship songs and pray for the direction of the city,” Johnson said.
And the mayor’s response?
Harrell’s press secretary, Callie Craighead, previously told Fox News Digital that Harrell “remains steadfast in his denouncement of rhetoric from groups whose messages promote exclusion, intolerance, and undermine the dignity and rights of any community member — particularly those that are marginalized, like our LGBTQ+ community.”
Here is the crowning statement:
Craighead added at the time: “As a Christian himself (emphasis added) the mayor is guided by the Christian values of love and justice, and his comments have specifically addressed ideologies that are in contrast to Seattle’s commitment to being a welcoming city for all. Like any faith community, Christianity is not a monolith — and many Christians throughout Seattle do not hold the beliefs expressed by the organizers of the Mayday rally.”Fox News
Sources say 23 have been arrested to date, and at least one Seattle PD officer was hospitalized. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino says the Feds will be looking into the “targeted violence” against religious groups. Sure hope those violence-prone protesters remember that Jesus only advocated turning the other cheek once.
Ah, summer is barely starting. “If you disagree, violently attack” is in the air. At least in Seattle.

“Insofar as ye have done unto the least of these ye have done it unto me.”
Might want to remember the Prince makes peace between God and man, but the King doesn’t take prisoners.
I headed security for a similar event in our city a few years ago, It is a nationwide organization and they raise no funds from the events. It was multi-denominational and targets assisting the poor, disabled and homeless, so yes, the least of us. These ignorant selfish pigs really don’t give a damn about anything other than rubbing their genitals together and whatever drug they can consume. The City of Sodomattle may never call them to account but the dealer of ultimate justice will.
The real nazis never see themselves as nazis.
Just doing God’s work spreading marxism and destroying anyone who stands in the way.
Church applied for permit at a specific park – city gave them permit for a different park popular with LBTQXYZ community which freaked out the freaks leading to the attack on the church group for invading “their” space.
Sounds like a case of intentional collusion to suppress religious liberty.
If we had a real SCOTUS they might be interested in that.
My cynical suspicious mind screams setup and ambush.
Oddly enough, so does mine. Do we need [trigger-time] therapy?
I’m really hoping to hit the range this weekend, it’s been wayyy too long since MRS D and I had a range date!
You 2 aren’t the only ones who feel that way.
Way too convenient.
So basically they gave them a location in the middle of Philistine territory.
Another “Summer of Love”
Seattle like the western portions of the PDRK (peepuls demokratik repugnant of kaliphornya), ore…gone and washed..ington are lost causes. Dumping them into the sea via an earthquake might improve the country dramatically.
Just King and Snohomish counties, please, if that can be arranged. The rest of us here are fairly normal.
If Seattle was ancient Rome, the headlines would be as follows: Christians on Coliseum floor bother lions.
Just a reminder that there is nothing in Scripture against taking up arms to defend oneself or one’s loved ones or one’s neighbor.
This past month has demonstrated the need for Christians and Jews to arm themselves.
That said, the Christians in Seattle may actually win more to Christ by their reactions to this attack than by forceful response in kind.
On the other hand, the mayor is deluded and/or deluding himself if he thinks he is a Christian. “By their fruits you shall know them.” His fruits are those of the corpse-flower.
Jus’ saw this one:
Me like.
Me practice.
I like that one Graybeard, it’s like a sore pecker, you can’t beat it.
For reference:
36 He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.
Luke 22:36
I always liked the KJV version…
36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
I’m not a religious guy at all, but it doesn’t mean I haven’t read it and found my favorite elements.
Another:
Psalm 144:1 A Psalm of David.
Blessed be the LORD, my rock,
Who trains my hands for war,
my fingers for battle;
Would be something if someone peacefully caps the mayor, and if it’s called peaceful then it’s okay like peacefully burning down buildings and people.
Using a suppressor, that would lower the noise level, that’d make it peaceful
“….pieceful.”
Don’t disturb the neighbors.
Seattle is a tolerant and welcoming community, and if you disagree with that, they will unleash their mostly peaceful rioters to sway you to their side.
The Christians incited the violence? So their mere presence was justification for assaulting them. Remember that the next time an AOC supporter shows up to a Republican event and starts causing a disturbance.
I’d love to hear what the mayor has to say about short skirts and rape.
Nice catch and great point. Looking at this way, he has kind of verbally painted himself into a corner.
I like the part in the Bible where Jesus threw urine filled balloons at those who did not believe in Him.
I do apologize, but I have searched and I have searched, but I couldn’t find a verse in the New Testament of Jesus doing this.
I expanded my search to the world wide web and the closest I could find was a parody Jesus by Babylon Bee:
““Seattle is proud of our reputation as a welcoming, inclusive city for….” everyone except conservative Christians.
Harrell sounds as much of a Christian as Schumer and Pelosi. WHich is to say, in name only, not in practice.
Matt 25:41 “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels…”
Guy prolly likes his hamburgers raw with a little cheese too…
How much do any of you want to bet the “mayor” made donations to groups connected to Antifa in the past? A connection between the two can be his downfall, especially with that one little law that protects the practice of faith.
Or accepted donations from groups connected to Antifa?
Yep, that Former Carpenter talked and preached about the whole “turn the other cheek” thing, Love and Tolerance and so on, but He was also prone to “turning over tables”, “picking up whips”, and “chasing” folks around/out of buildings. And one REALLY doesn’t want to piss of The Former Carpenter’s Daddy. Seems I remember something His Daddy said about “Vengeance is Mine!”, and notations about the whole “Wrath of God” thing. Fire and Brimstone is a Clear and Present Danger when He gets pissed.
And after a bad day, tore the very gates of Hell from their hinges.
He did say “Turn the other cheek”, but if they strike that one as well, Revelations 19:11 comes into play.
I’m not advocating for violence, but I think that if we could go back to the days where more people got punched in the mouth, there’d be a lot more “act right” in folks.
I remember those days as well.
Yup, I had to be around 10 years old when we had a fight next door to the AJWV’s building and next thing I knew, I was on the grass with a dozen of the kids from the school laughing at me which was across from the place i got laid out. shook hands and that was that. Kids Dad was a WW2 Marine Vet and taught his son self defence. This was B4 computers, cell phones, video games and all the social media shit.
It’s settled science that bullies tend to rethink their actions after tasting their own blood.
I remember returning to CT in 1980 and joining the National Guard, I remember being placed on call for a KKK rally being held in Scotland CT to support the State police as some 400 protesters were there…and I remember thinking who gives a shit if some Klansmen get the living shit beat out of them? I know I didn’t care as 22 year old infantryman…but I also remember a smart company commander who pointed out that the true defense of speech means defending the speech you hate, the speech you find abhorrent to your very core being.
Seattle’s fuckwit mayor would do well to not only remember that truth, but to share it with his fascist supporters who wish to suppress that speech.
Most folks here know I don’t give a shit about religion, or religious beliefs, nor do I believe in any of it….but I will damn sure remember Thomas Jefferson’s words that whether you believe in one god, twenty gods, or no god at all your beliefs neither pick my pocket nor break my leg. I will also remember my oath and defend your right to believe what you will and speak what you will.
Here’s hoping the next time these criminals wish to beat people for exercising free speech they get a little of their own medicine and take a beating themselves.
Like the song goes, “
Try that in a small town, …
”, like the time a horde of antifa maggots descended on a town in Idaho where they were greeted by everyone, their Grandad and hound dogs, all locked, loaded and with itchy trigger fingers. The herders and handlers of those mobs KNOW that their useful idiots will be dead meat if they infest them into Red State America.
I can think of many small Idaho towns where that would happen, where was this party?
Cour D’Alene IIRC.
I was kinda figuring the Coeur d’Alene area. Or maybe Hayden Lake.
I wonder how this would play out in, let’s say….. Sturgis. Or Bristol for that matter.
A sign near a shop door at a friend’s farm reads I have an AR 15 and a backhoe. He leaves it up to the uninvited guests to decide which part is true.
A few years ago a small batch of antifa maggots infested the Sturgis Rally and the only thing keeping them alive was a ring of LEOs separating them from the Bikers who wanted to have fun “discussing” their shit with them. Ironic that the “defund” vermin demand LEOs to protect them when they stir the pot and someone wants to call them out and make them lick the spoon!
Jus’ sayin’….

Seattle of course, a locale infested with, I mean inhabited by many “People of Tolerance” who perpetually prove that liberalism is a mental disorder.
Can anyone account for the whereabouts last Saturday of a certain puported medic for the Pantifas? Inquiring minds want to know.
At least the current DOJ may take this more seriously than the previous version.
Seattle’s mayor seems to have “bit” of Caligula-Nero syndrome?…
