Hillary Clinton: If they don’t moderate and monitor the content, we lose total control
John Kerry and Tim Walz are not the only Democrats that expressed frustration over the inability to control the narrative. Hillary Clinton participated on an interview with CNN. She called for the repeal of “Section 230,” and suggested that this was an oversimplified view. Hillary further stated that if social media platforms do not moderate and monitor content, they (Hillary et al.) will lose total control.
Hillary Clinton’s statement:
We should be, in my view, repealing something called section 230, which gave platforms on the internet immunity because they were thought to be just pass-throughs, that they shouldn’t be judged for the content that is posted. But we now know that that was an overly simple view. Whether it’s Facebook or Twitter or X or Instagram or TikTok, whatever they are, if they don’t moderate and monitor the content we lose total control and it’s not just the social and psychological effects, it’s real harm.

Actually, “hate speech” is protected under the First Amendment (U.S. v. Schwimmer), despite what you hear from the media. Being told that men can get pregnant and that there are more than two genders is antithetical to what reasonable people believe and is inconsistent with biology and science. Suppression and censorship are the issues. Freedom of speech means nothing if we’re unwilling to tolerate the expression of ideas we detest. The remedy against the “woke” narrative is to confront those ideas with facts, persuasive debate, and more truthful speech.
Correction: “Hate speech”, as the Left defines it, is generally protected.
