FOIA Results & COVID-19
The following is the current status of posted stolen valor cases, impacted by the ability to obtain Freedom of Information Act results.
Although things are not completely on hold, they have slowed down considerably. The following are status updates from each organization that FOIA results are obtained from.
NATIONAL PERSONNEL RECORDS CENTER (NPRC)
We request records from the NPRC in over 90% of the cases we look at. They have had a few employees at different building locations test positive for COVID-19. As such, they are on reduced hours/telework and are only addressing media emergencies and funeral issues. We continue to submit FOIA requests but do not expect results until further into the summer, if then. This also affects FOIA submissions made before the COVID-19 lockdown. They have come to a halt in the last few weeks.
DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY (DoN)
Several employees have contracted COVID-19. They hold military records if someone were discharged in the mid-1990s or beyond. Since most of these records are digitized, the databases can be accessed remotely and telework should not be an issue. NPRC archive techs have to physically pull records from the shelf and transcribe them, but this does not constrain DoN employees. Although we have heard of some adjustments due to COVID-19, we have not heard anything official as far as reduced hours and reduced requests. These requests represent about 4% of all FOIA requests that we make.
HEADQUARTERS U.S. MARINE CORPS / DoN
The USMC has told us they are operating at a reduced capacity due to COVID-19. They still seem to be doing all requests, but trying to do the best with limited staff. These requests represent about 4% of all FOIA requests that we make.
DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE
We have heard no official statement from the Air Force but they seem to be looking at each FOIA request on a case by case basis. These requests represent about 2% of all FOIA requests that we make.
SUMMARY
We’ve submitted about 75 FOIA requests since January 1, 2020. We’ve gotten about 25 back but some substantiate claims made by the individual. Others were posted as stolen valor cases. Some were made in the Feb-Mar time frame and have not come back but based on returns coming to a small trickle and then drying up completely in the past two weeks, we suspect a lot of the NPRC results to not come back until the summer. A few USMC and USAF requests are still pending. US Navy for service ending dates of 1995-present do not seem to be an issue.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the update, SB. The ramifications? Following Jonn’s Law, nothing will be posted concerning Valor Thieves without documentation that has a clear custody chain from the source to MP/VG management.
Your patience is appreciated.
It is probably a good trial period for other types of articles and submissions.
sbalm,
Other types could include…. a series of BEST OF….?
There are so many to choose from.
The most egregious,
who haven’t exactly been on the straight and narrow since,
make the best candidates.
Thank you for the detailed explanations in this article.
I guess this means my pos brother goes merrily along collecting his check every month! I hope the bastard chokes on it! Phuck Hymn!
W.W.
YOUR piece of shit brother will get Karma. If not now, hopefully he’ll be reincarnated into a shithouse rat..
Happy you are well..
I miss read the comment
My bad
be of good cheer WW…we know he will not fill his canteen with us on Fiddlers Green
The good news is that at some point you may well
have a treasure trove to met out carefully so as
not to overdose the dickweeds.
Just building the suspense until the hammer drops. All of those posers that have consulted their Magic 8-Balls know that the inevitable humiliation is coming, they just don’t know when.
Hack Stone would like to recommend that when this Poser Embargo finally passes, release the investigations at a reasonable interval so that they all can get the recognition that they desire and deserve.
Finally, a comment regarding “current status”. All status is current. Hack had many opportunities to respond to 1st Lt inquiries regarding the “current status of the communications circuits”. Hack would respond with “All status is current, sir.” And he would reply “You could have old status, Gunny.” And GySgt Stone would say “That would be history, sir.”
Hack is done with his ranting, time to get back to selling outdated and overpriced software to the federal government.
((Over))
Just one more disruption to our lives that this Chinese Communist Originated Virus Infecting Disease (COVID19) has caused. Maybe we should do a deep seared forensic investigation into the Communist Chinese Government’s role in the development of this Virus. At the same time we could examine the oblowme role in giving USD to setup the lab in Communist China’s Wuhan University? Or maybe, look at the connections between Bill Gates, his foundation, and the other demonrat’s role in releasing this Kraken? We will patiently await the return of Valor Thieves of all branches. GO ARMY…BEAT NAVY!
One thing the Chinese Communist Originated Virus Infecting Disease of 2019 (COVID19) can never take away is my EARNING the very FIRST Coveted ACE of FIRST, the never before achieved 5 pete, 5 in a row FIRST on the TAH Friday Weekend Open Thread FIRST! There can be only one, and it will always be recorded in the Book of FIRST as the very FIRST, FIRST!
No worries.
Reopen Phildo’s threads.
That will keep us busy.
Besides, he needs a little extra love…
Not a bad idea at all, I second the motion!
Green Thumb and A Proud Infidel,
I just suggested a “Best of…..” series.
I’m sure you guys can do a great job
nominating and selecting the first crop of
“Classic Stolen Valor.”
(fingers crossed)
Phonies come on out now!
It’s the virtual equivalent of letting prisoners out of jail for the Coronavirus crisis – what could possibly go wrong?
LOL Phonies getting a hard on and ready to spill their heart to the world about their classified missions and secret medals!
speaking of COVID…here are the guidelines translated for us rubes…LOL Here are the official Coronavirus guidelines: 1. Basically, you can’t leave the house for any reason, but if you have to, then you can. 2. Masks are useless, but maybe you have to wear one, it can save you, it is useless, but maybe it is mandatory as well. 3. Stores are closed, except those that are open. 4. You should not go to hospitals unless you have to go there. Same applies to doctors, you should only go there in case of emergency, provided you are not too sick. 5. This virus is deadly but still not too scary, except that sometimes it actually leads to a global disaster. 6. Gloves won’t help, but they can still help. 7. Everyone needs to stay HOME, but it’s important to GO OUT. 8. There is no shortage of groceries in the supermarket, but there are many things missing when you go there in the evening, but not in the morning. Sometimes. 9. The virus has no effect on children except those it affects. 10. Animals are not affected, but there is still a cat that tested positive in Belgium in February when no one had been tested, plus a few tigers here and there… 11. You will have many symptoms when you are sick, but you can also get sick without symptoms, have symptoms without being sick, or be contagious without having symptoms. Oh, my.. 12. In order not to get sick, you have to eat well and exercise, but eat whatever you have on hand and it’s better not to go out, well, but no… 13. It’s better to get some fresh air, but you get looked at very wrong when you get some fresh air, and most importantly, you don’t go to parks or walk. But don’t sit down, except that you can do that now if you are old, but not for too long or if you are pregnant (but not too old). 14. You can’t go to retirement homes, but you have to take care of the… Read more »
