Marine Recruits Train with COVID-19 Masks
The Marine Corps Times published a story showing the Marine Corps recruits training with “skivvy” masks during the COVID-19 epidemic.
Drill instructors and recruits aboard the San Diego, California, recruit depot are now donning green skivvy-shirt face masks in compliance with guidance from the Department of Defense to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
The Department of Defense has ordered all service members and military personnel to wear some type of cloth face covering when they can’t maintain six feet of social distancing.
Later…
While the Corps has approved the wear of any face covering that is “conservative in appearance” the Marines are warning service members not to use their camouflage utilities that have been treated with bug repellent.
Good tip. Ranks right up there with using a “ROCK OR SOMETHING” when heating up an MRE.
Other DoD guidance states “Service members will wear cloth face coverings in neutral colors.”
So, the translation is that they cannot wear a Batman, Scooby-Doo, or Hanna Montana-themed facial mask.

So I agree with this 100 percent
fuggit…let it weed out the weak.
Beats wearing a promask?
Now all wookies are on the market!
(I’ll be on a self-imposed mandatory timeout for that)
Since we haven’t heard of any outbreaks among Marine recruits, does that tell us that it hasn’t hit the ones already in training? Or does it tell us that young healthy folks getting plenty of exercise and fresh air can fight the bug off? Do whatever we need to do to mitigate the infection rate I guess.
Got a FSN for that mask yet Supply Daddy?

One easy to follow (cause it doesn’t have any big words) instruction sheet.
Some assembly required.
“Skiwy”
I kept seeing “svivvy” until I magnified it.
Sierra Kilo India Victor Victor Yankee is correct, -beans. Navy/Marine term for undergarments.

Hey! My skivvy mask kit is missing the instruction sheet. Who took the *%#@* instruction sheet!
Are you required to wear your PT belt with it?
Dunno, makes eating crayons kinda tough.
Mask is gonna mean jack squat. If one of them in that barracks has it, they all have it.
Yup. Intel school has the troopies wearing neck gaiters over their faces. Doesn’t even come close to CDC guidelines, but it checks the block.
Army style
Could you imagine doing training
In MOPP gear throughout basic and AIT
I’m surprised there aren’t some dumbasses already making them do that.
Then again, perhaps we just haven’t heard about it, yet.
It’s still early.
Jesus…I’m so glad I’m retired. Part of the “Rite of Passage” was catching a good ol’ case of “recruit crud”.
