Democrats Worried About Bernie Momentum

| February 22, 2020

Who needs the facts when feelings “dictate” the facts? Rule of feelings, not rule of law. The Democratic presidential nomination process may potentially lead to some tears from a segment of the party.   (Ben Garrison/GRRRGRAPHICS.com)

The Democratic Party, and the candidates for their presidential nomination, appear to be worried about Bernie Sanders becoming the nominee. The numbers show his potential to gain a comfortable lead in the Democrat delegate count.

Michael Bloomberg provided a potential solution to this. He argued that many of the other candidates should drop out in order to consolidate support for the candidates that remain. He argued that this would help with the momentum for the centrist candidates.

Pete Buttigieg suggested that perhaps Michael Bloomberg should drop out. The candidates on the Democrat side support the convention rules with regards to who gets the nomination. Bernie Sanders argues that the candidate with the most votes should be the nominee.

From Fox News:

If [Sanders] is the nominee, we lose,” one Democrat told Fox News earlier this month, with two other vulnerable congressional Democrats saying a Sanders nomination would almost certainly cede their states to Trump and even have the potential to hurt their down-ballot races for the House and Senate.

Elected officials across the country understand there will be down-ballot carnage to the Democratic Party if we elect the wrong person,” Rep. Cedric Richmond of Louisiana, a Biden campaign co-chair, stressed during a conference call with reporters. “If Bernie Sanders were atop of the ticket, we would be in jeopardy of losing the House, we would not win the Senate back.

Outside of Washington, former top Democrats are also expressing mounting concern over Sanders’ momentum, while plotting alternative options.

Many view Michael Bloomberg’s debate performance as falling short of average. His campaign videos show that “he could get it done”. However, not many details are provided on how exactly he could get it done. Also, he is reportedly trying to encourage meme creators to create memes benefiting his campaign.

Fox News has more details in this article. Bernie Sanders has also said that Michael Bloomberg will get eaten alive by President Trump. Partial video and transcripts are on this CBS News link.

I know it’s all about the money and power, but those things aside, why the hell do the dims let him run on their ticket, since he claims to be a freaking independent?… I mean, it seems it’d be easy t just tell him “join the party, or go away”.. Of course he’d then run as an independent, and pull a Perot in reverse…

11B-Mailclerk

Why?

They need his base to vote Donk, not third party or “none of the above”.

The Other Whitey

Money and power…I guess the DNC is run by Druish princesses. Which actually makes a lot of sense.

Joe Biden = President Scroob
Mike Bloomberg = Dark Helmet
Bernie Sanders = Colonel Sanders

Fyrfighter

I’m guessing that they’re a bit more worried now, since Bernie just won Nevada..

Hack Stone

Hack Stone is conflicted on who to cast his vote for. Bernie Sanders will make everything free. But Michael Bloomberg will stop forest fires by issuing an Executive Order. Then again, if Joe Biden can secure a job paying over $50,000 a month with a Ukrainian oil company for someone who has no experience in the energy, doesn’t speak Ukrainian, and was dismissed from the Naval Reserve for illicit drug use, can you imagine what kind of job he could create for someone who is a Director Of Media Relations for a proud but humble woman owned business that sells software to the federal government?

Yep.

And when Bernie wins the nomination and loses the election it’ll be Trump’s fault.

Gotta keep those conspiracy theorists busy.

Someone should ask the Dems whether their end goal is electing another NY billionaire? Thought they had already enjoyed enough. Their problem is that they want to have their cake and eat it too – they want Sanders’ radical cachet without his Socialist Party affiliation. As Fyrfighter said, they really should have told him to run as a Democrat or take a hike. Now they have the proverbial tiger by the tail – can’t hang on, can’t let go.

My favorite piece of news is that Biden is telling people on the campaign trail that he and our UN ambassador were arrested in South Africa while attempting to see Nelson Mandela. Except a) The UN ambassador, Andrew Young (impeccable Democrat credentials there) says it never happened. Oh, and b) the supposed arrest was at Soweto, almost a thousand miles from where Mandela was imprisoned. Sounds like Biden had his chimes rung while dodging sniper fire with Hillary. The MSM is describing it as “inconsistencies in his story”. You would think “f*cking liar” would make for a shorter headline.

Creepy Uncle Joe acts like he is drunk at a wedding reception, you never know what will come out of his mouth next.

Bernie is like some our POSers. He just invents more fabulist stories as time goes by. I think he is in the early stages of senile dementia and he may have started believing these stories he has made up to pander to black voters.

rgr769

Correction: I meant Biden. But Bernie is not far behind in the need for a slot in a home for the severely bewildered.

Wireman611

IMHO R A Heinlein was correct when he called for the “Crazy Years” in his timeline. And we are dead in the middle of them.

Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH B Woodman

AMEN!

ArmyATC

It’s almost enough to make one believe that writers such as Heinlein (the ‘Future History’ timeline, specifically the ‘Crazy Years’), Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451), and Orwell (Animal Farm, 1984) were prophets.

HMCS(FMF) ret

The Donks/Free Shit Army going BALLS DEEP for the Bern… what are they gonna do if the Convention smashes their dreams of a socialist state again?

Commissar

I can’t wait until the DNC dies a long overdue death.

The only people I hat more than Trump and his cronies/sycophants is the DNC establishment that made a hard right fascist like Trump not only possible but essentially inevitable.

SFC D

That’s a very broad spectrum of hate.

Commissar

Yeah. I am a bi-partisan hater.

Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH B Woodman

Sounds like one (in a row) that we agree on.
I’m not a bigot. I’m not a racist. I hate everybody. Equally.
But don’t think that you and I will be sitting down for a beer anytime soon.

The Other Whitey

You’re mainly a self-righteous asshole with a pathetically-exaggerated idea of your own intellect and importance, Taylor. But keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.

Commissar

That was a non-sequitur.

The Other Whitey

No, it’s true.

rgr769

They could just replace the DNC with the CPUSA. That would give you and Bernie a party you two could really get behind, given that you are both crypto-communists.

David

“Hard right fascist” – if he were, we would not be allowed to comment here. Take an OBJECTIVE (I know, that is a very hard word for you) look at what previous presidents have done – using the IRS to sanction opposition groups, the Patriot Act, Ruby Ridge/Waco, various wartime censorship and Constitutional rights suspensions – and show me where other than “Orange Man BAAAADDDD!!” Trump has done anything approaching what previous prezzies have done. It is probably well known I am not a fan of his (I have made enough disparaging comments, starting well before his election)but “hard right fascist”? Go take a look at some gents running around Europe in the ’30s and ’40s and get back to me.

Commissar

He is a fascist ideologically. He does not hold absolute power.

There is a difference between what he would do if he could and what he can do.

ArmyATC

So, hard left socialism made hard right fascism possible? While I agree with the first part (the hard left socialism of the DNC) I would love to see your evidence that Trump is a “hard right fascist.” I get the feeling you don’t understand the term and are merely flinging words out of hatred and anger.

Commissar

I understand the term and posted about the tenets of fascism and how Trump openly advocates for every single one on the forum in the past.

I suspect you don’t know what fascism is. Because there is really no room to dispute that he openly advocates fascist ideas.

Fyrfighter

I recall that post, it was pure bullshit and delusional ramblings such as would be expected from someone from Berkeley…
