Impeachment hearing testimony conflicts with reality, per Military Times.
From the article: Christopher Anderson, a U.S. foreign service officer, testified before lawmakers that Trump had ordered the Black Sea patrols be canceled after seeing a report on CNN about the U.S. naval movements in the contentious waters in January.
But those patrols were never canceled and they have remained consistent under Trump’s tenure in the White House. The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer Ross patrolled the Black Sea in December, making it the eighth time a U.S. warship visited the Black Sea in 2019. – article
So the patrols have never stopped. They’ve been going on consistently since 2016. Anderson lied.
I hope this simple fact comes up during the impeachment trial, if that occurs. Conflicting testimony from a FS desk jockey and someone in the know ought to have some impact, right?
Of course, if quizzed about it, Anderson will probably flabbergast his way out of it. It’s what those people do.
Also, there is this: Stars and Stripes first reported that the U.S. Navy Black Sea patrols were never canceled.

These Freedom of Navigation operations challenge overreaching maritime claims in both the Black Sea and the South China Sea, to name a couple. They are an important part of US international policy, and it’s no coincidence they started in 2016 and continue to this day.
Nothing says you care like a US warship in your pond, or an overflight of a BUFF or two.
My Pa was an EW on BUFFs, retired in ’68. The last BUFF rolled off the line just before I did in 1962. I daresay they’re in better condition than I am!

The sea is not black.
The Black Sea is a saltwater layer sitting on top of a very dense layer of fresh water and below that, at the bottom, are the remains of very ancient harbors. The Black Sea used to be a very large freshwater lake, until the Straits of Bosporus cracked open and let the Med flood both the Caspian basin and the Black Sea basin.
