Well, she’s back at it and in the news over the past couple of days.
“When she was an Army nurse during the Vietnam War, DeSanti rappelled from helicopters to treat wounded soldiers.”
Once again, the media – in search of a feel-good story – will publish anything without verification. In this case, we had DeSanti’s fakery on This Ain’t Hell for anyone to look up.
At least she didn’t advance in rank over the last 5 years.

I suspect the 5th Precinct most likely may not retain any records of her if they are over 10-20 years old. She may have been a school crossing guard and no telling how long she lasted doing that. Only Ole Maggie can tell us the rest of the story.
The link provided stated that she claimed to be one of the first Female NY Firefighters, which has already been disproven on this Post by others.
It seems that she either lies or embellishes about events in her life, mixing truth with fiction. She is indeed a female version of Walter Mitty.

I met Maggie 2010. She was a member of the American Legion Post in Gilbert. I met her playing poker at the club. She started sharing that she had cancer and was very ill. Several of us pitched in and helped her out. I would stay with her after she said she had a stroke. Some of the guys build a ramp on her trailer in Mesa so she could have better access to her home.
I am a nurse. You can verify with AZ Department of Nursing. I began to suspect there was a ruse and I think Maggie knew I was catching on to her scheme. Our relationship/friendship ended.
In the midst of helping her out, one of my friends found three birth certificates with different DOB. I also think it was noted she was getting two social security payments every month.
She appears to have lived a life of deception. She managed to elicit sympathy from our peer group and tried to make me look less than favorable. I decided to let people make their own judgments and went on about my life.

yes, someone has more explaining to do, for allowing a fraudulent membership of an ineligible Post Member in a veterans organization.

For those of you that have inquired, Mr. Jerry Dale Walker’s official military records have been ordered and were received several days ago. The appropriate people have them in their possession. To date, we have not found anything inconsistant with his military claims and what is supported in his official military records. As such, there is no need to post at this time.
This is an issue separate and distinct from his claim of knowing Maggie DeSanti and can vouche for her military service. It is unclear as to if he is claiming he SERVED with her or whether he KNEW her back when she was claiming she was Captain and they both were in a civilian capacity. We would most certainly like for Mr. Walker to clarify his statements and offer dates/units/timeframe that convinces him that Ms. DeSanti served in the United States Armed Forces. There are no substantiating military records available that supports such a claim.

I have had a buncha dealings with reporters, print and broadcast, over the last 45 years and for the last 20, especially, they have gotten worse and worse about misquotes, bending what you say, and/or refusing to run corrections or retractions. Research indicates that Ole Margaret was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1937, NOT 1935.
Her birth name was Margaret Macalino.
M-A-C-A-L-I-N-O.
Her father was born in Manilla, Philippines.
1940 Census (Brooklyn, New York) of her and her Family listed the Family as “Filipino”.
Ole Margaret told a story that she had Three Brothers who served in the US Military.
That story is true. Her Brothers are listed on the 1940 Census with her.
This ninja suspects that a 1935 Birth Certificate listed under Brooklyn New York Birth Records for a “Female” Macalino is for a female Stillborn.
That “Female” born in 1935 is not listed in the 1940 Census.
However, Ole Margaret is listed by name as Margaret Macalino in the 1937 New York Birth records and again, in the 1940 Census, as being 3 years old.
Ole Margaret married Samuel F. De Santi in 1954 in Brooklyn, New York.
She was 16 years old, not quite 17 years old.
This ninja has a theory. It could be possible that she used the Birth Certificate belonging to the 1935 Female Stillborn to get married, fudging her age to be 18, close to 19 to marry Sam.
In New York, the minimum legal age to wed is 18. Anyone younger has to have parental consent.
Which means that if this theory is true, then Ole Margaret has been living and rocking with a lie for years. Unless her Parents told her that she was born in 1935 and hid the 1937 Birth Certificate from her.
All of this is PUBLIC INFORMATION. Information has been backed up by public records and old newspaper articles.

This Video was posted by the Columbus, Ohio Recruiting Battalion 4 Years ago.
The Elderly guy in the Video, Lowell Guy Freeman, conned them. He also conned the Cripple Creek Event at Canon City, Colorado 6 years ago by telling them he was a DSC Recipient and one of the original US Army RANGERS.
For almost 50 years, Freeman told folks the story that he was nominated for the Medal of Honor during WWII. He told folks he was a Member of the Darby RANGERs. He told folks he was a MSG in the US Army.
When the MOH did not pan out based on the US Army writing him letters stating that there was no proof or indication that he had ever been nominated for the MOH, he changed his story and told everyone he was a Distinguished Service Cross Recipient.
His FOIA from NRPC is very interesting. Turns out he was with 5th Army in Italy during WWII, but was constantly “shirking responsibilty”,i.e. constantly going on Sick-Call. All of claims in the video are bogus. He was finally admitted to a Field Psych Unit in Naples, Italy during WWII and sent home with a Psych analysis.
He was never an E8, never a RANGER, never was nominated for a MOH, never received the DSC.
The Columus Recruiting Battalion was notified that they were conned. The FOIA was sent to them. To this day, there have been no acknowledgement that they fell for a Con Man. The Video is still up.
Lowell Guy Freeman probably went to his grave with his lies. We shall see if Ole Margaret does the same.

This is a VERY Interesting 2016 Story from the Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD about a Betty Kruger from Maryland:

Betty is a nickname for Elizabeth.
There IS an Elizabeth Ann (Anne) Kruger who was an Army Nurse CPT who is listed in the 1972 Version of U.S. Army Register.
And there IS an Elizabeth Anne Kruger who held a Nursing License in Maryland and Colorado.
Am beginning to wonder now if folks that claimed that Ole Margaret took care of them in Vietnam were confusing her with Betty Kruger or other Nurses.

BTW, there IS NO Margaret De Santi or Margaret DeSanti or Margaret Macalino listed in the U.S. Army Register.
Just verified that Betty Kruger and Elizabeth A. Kruger ARE the One and Same Person.
She also DID serve in Iran in 1979 as she stated.
I read the linked story. Betty’s narrative about her service in the Viet of the Nam has the ring of truth. I note she said nurses did occasionally ride in a helicopter, but only on one transporting a severely wounded soldier from her hospital to the 95th Evac at Da Nang. I was in the 95th once and it was like being in a stateside hospital (one of my LRRP guys was there being treated for a bullet wound). I might add, he was extracted by a Dustoff and no Army nurses were involved with that Huey except for maybe one of the nurses at the 95th helping put him on the gurney at the helipad.

Notice the diffence between Betty’s story and Ole Margaret’s story?
Betty was able to identify which Military Units/Hospitals she was assigned to. She shared about her experience as an Army Nurse, how she obtained her degree, her life during her one year tour in Vietnam (Ole Margaret said she served two years in Vietnam) and she never mentioned once about any Awards.
Betty’s Military Service and Nursing License have been officially documented.
Ole Margaret has NADA.

Yes. Ol’ Maggie has zero to support her Walter Mitty tale of daring do. No military records whatever for a supposed 30 year career as an Army Nurse, no record of ever having been licensed as a registered nurse anywhere, and a story which defies the reality of what nurses did in Vietnam. Then her BS is topped by the cherry of badges and ribbons she could not possibly have earned, like the jump wings, the Air Force Senior Flight Nurse wings, and the WWII WAC service ribbon.

When the story of Maggie DeSanti airs on Inside Edition, it will be likely that other news outlets will also pick up on it. Not because they are brave to do cutting-edge hard news, but because it is now safe to pile on and not be perceived as the first to be attacking an elderly woman.
Make no mistake about this – our very own “Ninja” deserves the lion’s share of the credit for driving this story and keeping it in the forefront.

A simple Google search, and any VFW, Legion, or charity (Honor Flight) would have seen this.
Currently, she wears the Women’s Army Corps Ribbon (WWII 1942-1945), and the post 9/11 GWOTS.
Also, those are AIR FORCE wings on her Army Uniform.
No one in Arizona stopped her, or questioned her.

Throwing in my two cents based on some recent comments. 1. For anyone who thinks Don Shipley is jumping on late for attention, Inside Edition reached out to him, and in the video I saw he gave initial credit to Doug Sterner and Jonn Lilyea for their work in 2014 to expose De Santi. 2. One of her defenders was willing to have a civil Facebook conversation with me. To summarize her explanation for her Silver Star: In 2014 Maggie encountered a general officer with the last name Anger. Unknown if Anger was retired or active duty. According to De Santi, Gen. Anger told her he was submitting her for a Silver Star and advised she could start wearing it immediately. He later told her he made a mistake and he should not have advised her to start wearing it. Unfortunately, Gen. Anger has since died and can’t authenticate her story. 3. I would be very curious to know the age of Maggie’s daughter that did or didn’t die in 9/11. Here is why. Maggie claims she served from Vietnam era through Desert Storm. If she have become pregnant prior to around 1976 or 77 she would have received a mandatory discharge. That would put her having her child in her early to mid 40’s. Not unheard of, but again less likely. Of course I’ve been checking ancestry female birth names of De Santi in New York in the Ancestry database from 1950 to 1980 and I can’t find any married or maiden name De Santi’s among the verified 9/11 victims. 4. Regarding those who claim she treated them in Vietnam. Think about all the times you were treated, how many of you can identify the nurse who treated you? I was medic for 21 years, I don’t know that I can remember a random patient that I treated. Another thing, there are multiple instances of phonies convincing genuine veterans they served with them. I love Maggie’s story about some general telling her he was putting her in for a Silver Star and she should start wearing it on her fake uniform. What rubbish coming from someone who never served a single day in the military. All her stories about herself and her family members are complete bunk, as proven by ninja’s research of public records the two FOIA responses on her.
