Michael Bloomberg: O’Rourke’s Confiscation Talk Just Strengthens Opposition
Former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
No shit, Mikey. There are reportedly 16 million, yes million Beta, of AR-15s roaming out in the wilds of the United States. If New York State, New Jersey, and yes, even the PDRofMD are any indication of compliance with restrictive, unconstitutional laws, only a small fraction of owners will heed them. Assuming the unlikely event of 2% Beta winning the Dem Primary and the General Election, that is. Then what?

Bloomberg gave an interview to the Firing Line with Margaret Hoover, where he intimated O’Rourke’s approach is a, “rallying cry for people that say they are overstepping their bounds.”

Toldja so!!!
I did wonder how long it would be until someone smarter (substantially, in this case) stepped forward and said “this is just a dumb idea”. And Bloomie did it first. 🙂 How sweet to see O’Rourke getting the “idiot of the month” award.
I believe those calling Beta O’Dork the idiot that he is are doing so to minimize the damage he’s done. Bloomberg doesn’t really believe that confiscation is a bad idea. He, as well as others simply didn’t want it articulated at this time because gun rights advocates would be proven correct. Beta has simply said what many, perhaps most Dems want, confiscation of semi-auto firearms -and make no mistake, it is ALL semi-auto firearms. Beta just let that cat out of the bag. One need only look at the anti-gun platform of those running for the Democratic nomination. Every one of them has either mandatory or “voluntary” confiscation as part of their gun control platform.
Precisely. Beto’s letting the cat out of the bag on their real goals. Just like Bernie seemed crazy four years ago but now is mainstream Democrat, Beto’s over the top embracing of fascistic gun grabbing will be mainstream by the time 2024 rolls around.
That’s the problem with progressivism. You’ve got to one up the last guy. Come up with some new grand plan for how government is going to fix it. So it just snowballs. Every new person trying to make a name for themselves has to come up with a yet even crazier idea than the last guy.
One of the problems/features of progtardism is that it’s proponents are always trying to “progress” it.
The only reason for Bloomie’s comment is that he is concerned that Beto the Brainless is disclosing their real goal as gun confiscators.
…AND it’s undercutting his state-by-state ban/confiscation efforts.
Yes, us “little people” know too much then. Curses!
Ye-e-e-esssssss and the Womens Christian Temperance Union was SO happy when the 18th Amendment was passed…. and that lasted until it was repealed in 1929 – ten WHOLE years.
Those cranks don’t want your guns. They want control of YOU, sillies! But I’m happy that Bloomie stepped up and bravely said – in PUBLIC – that it’s a dumb idea. Don’t you see what he did there? He can’t take it back.
Talk about sticking his size 18s in his mouth…!
Don’t let them fool you. Confiscation is the end goal of all of these assholes. They’re just pissed that Bator has actually been honest about it. They know that the best way to get our guns is to keep pushing these “common sense” restrictions…until we find ourselves unarmed, and wondering how the hell that happened. They know Bator’s frontal assault will galvanize resistance and that’s the last thing they want.
Agreed. It’s simply part of the incremental approach to eventual disarmament that the Dems have been pushing for decades.
DISARMAMENT of the populace:
JUST LIKE what Lenin and Stalin did to Russia.
JUST LIKE what Hitler had done to the German Populace.
JUST LIKE what Pol Pot had done in Cambodia.
JUST LIKE what Castro had done in Cuba
…
For “social justice” and rainbows and unicorns, of course…
And just like Chavez & Maduro did to the people of Venezuela.
Beat wants to rip your @A rights away from everyone… Bloomie wants to take them away from you bit by bit.
Fuck both of them!
OH, fiddlesticks! They want to take away ALL your rights!!! Don’t you guys know that by now? It starts with the “take your guns” thing, then they rest of it.
Like I said last week, there are more personally-owned guns in Australia and New Zealand than there were before the gun bans.
Prohibition (18th Amendment) didn’t work, period, and the 19th Amendment repealed it.
These jackasses would do far more good if they started yakking about the problem of teens getting fatal lung diseases from vaping. Those deaths are preventable.
Fiddlesticks! LMAO!!!! Every time I hear/read that word it reminds me of Uncle Fester for some reason…. Thanks for the laugh PH2!
Baby steps is how these mopes think they are going to win. There’s a lot of underlying blood boiling going on in this country. I think if the Donald is ousted in a crooked way, it just may start some protestations the likes of these nanny-staters have never seen…
Pot meet kettle. O’Rourke wants to take your firearm, and Bloomberg wants to take your Big Gulp…
Bloomberg should have been a big gulp.
He was, until…. that horrible accident.
Well played, 26L. Well played indeed.
Which shows his hypocrisy. Doesn’t Bloomberg do the “big gulp” at Brucie’s Bathhouse?
I am accepting any AR’s in my house that need political asylum.
Blackgunsmatter
There’s a gun store in Oregon by that name..
I HEREBY DECLARE A Proud Infidel®™ Manor to be AN OFFICIAL SANCTUARY for ALL Rifles, Pistols and Shotguns outlawed by liberals.
I wish I still had all mine…..
Got broken into during the hurricane two years ago and they stole my gun collection and my Slim Whitman CD’s along with my Frankie Yankovic Polka collection too….
Now I’m stuck listening to them on YouTube….
Such great thinking music too…..

Seriously????
You just about jumped into the boat on that one, Ex. Let me rephrase it.

😎
Well, thank you for clearing that up, PG. There are some laws on the books that really ARE that silly. Otherwise, I would not have asked! 🙂
MY BEAUTIFUL Gun Collection, ALL OF IT lost in an accident involving quicksand…
It was horrible, watching that row boat sink with my collection on board.

Ah, Bloomberg… the mayor during the horrible $25,000 starting salary for the NYPD. When folks complained he said “they shouldn’t be doing it for the money.”
Fuck him too.
Molon Labe…Bitch!
Too bad for us they these self serving parasites on society just want to be the one to pass the laws and send someone else out to enforce their laws. Be nice if they would show true leadership, leading from the front to go door to door confiscating firearms. Stupid mofos aren’t worth a flip at basic arithmetic much less math. 100 million some odd firearms and how many billions of rounds of ammunition?
I don’t think so, Scooter.
Each year, consumers in the USA buy more than a billion rounds of .22LR ammunition.
That is just .22LR.
If just one percent of gun owners deep-stash just one firearm and one thousand rounds of ammunition, that is over a million hidden guns and a billion hidden rounds of ammo.
It’s a shame that you guys don’t see the corner than Bloomerbutt has backed himself into. He said ‘it’s a dumb idea”. It’s on record now. He can’t take it back without looking as stupid as he really is.
It isn’t about guns. It isn’t about your rights. It’s about controlling everything you do, and he’s just dumb enough to put his Big Fat Foot in his mouth when he says these things publicly.
Remember his disastrous control freak episode of banning infant milk formula from NYC hospitals? He’s a control freak and an a*&*hole and his time left on this planet gets shorter every day.
‘
I’m glad he shot of his yap about this. He CANNOT TAKE IT BACK!!!!
And when did The Mighty Midget care about what he said in the past exactly? He owns 1/6 of the MSM and influences/directs the rest.
It really doesn’t matter to him what he said today or ten years ago. Like most politicians – especially of the leftist variety – when the political winds shift he’ll simply claim that his viewpoint has “evolved” and he’ll get a pass. He would most likely be praised by the MSM, much of which he owns, for his “courage.”
Michael “Guns Are for People Who Can Afford Armed Security” Bloomberg…
I don’t care if all I had was a pointy stick, I was born free and I will die free, or die trying…
‘Merica!
It’ll be OK as long as they don’t also confiscate baseball bats. And steak knives. And screwdrivers, claw can openers, horseshoes, ball point pens, automobiles, golf clubs, walking sticks, lamps, books, glass bottles, TV’s, knitting needles, 2×4’s, table legs, rolls of coins, and every other item which can be used defensively. Like cast iron skillets.
Horseshoes? Really? I suppose you could squeeze one into a sock and employ it like Antifa does a bike lock.
This is sadly not satire:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2019/09/23/ban-sales-pointed-kitchen-knives-no-reason-modern-world-says/
Church of England and a bunch of doctors in the UK now say that there is no reasonable need for a pointed knife in modern society. So pointed blades should now be illegal.
The leftward leap – and the lack of common sense that goes with it – is the reason I left the Anglican Communion in general and the Episcopal Church in particular.
I was baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal Church as a kid and left it behind in adulthood. I’m still a practicing Christian and I didn’t leave the Episcopal Church, it left me by espousing liberal dogma as furiously as it could!
Ditto. It wasn’t even changing the service to modern English. It was a lot of other crap that went with that.
And that perfectly illustrates the difference between subjects and citizens..
The prior ban of sharp-pointy-things didn’t go so well for Scotland…
Or for [formerly] Great Britain!
And on a more practical matter, it takes me about fifteen minutes with a decent grinder to put a decent point on a “no point” blade. No crook would ever try it.
In an hour, I can grind a plain metal strip into a workable knife. For example, the metal strips that compose a torsion-bar in the suspension of a VW Beetle can be made into nice knives. I have one in my range box. It helps to anal them first, but if you are patient you can work them as-is, to good effect.
Anyone who has ever worked corrections can lecture on the futility of banning sharp pointy things. Cons have made workable daggers out of turkey leg bones, toothbrushes, paper mache’, and human poop.
Oh admin…. A moment of your time.
That was supposed to be “aneal” the metal. My spell-check is apparently kinky.
I’ve heard that automotive leaf springs are also useful. They might also make a better raw stock than a torsion bar because of the relative cross-section. Both have a high carbon content similar to the steel used in pro-grade chef’s knives. It’s unclear to me whether annealing should be part of the shaping process. I’d imagine that putting a good edge on would involve not allowing the grinder to heat the metal to the point where it turns brittle.
There’s a real art to doing that kind of stuff, and those who do advanced metal working seem to have a gift. I remember somebody telling me once that a master machinist can look across a room, and tell at a glance what kind of metal is being worked under a grinder by the color of the spark plume.
How cool is that?
Can anyone here imagine the gutless eunuchs of Englandistan being able to fight a war with the modern equivalent of Nazi Germany and be able to triumph over it? I cannot.
I guess once they ban knives with points they will next ban the sharpening stones and grinding tools that can put a point on their blunted kitchen knives. What a world.
Frankly, rgr769, the gutless eunuchs over there would be running to hide behind the real warriors, most of whom are either in the military or are cops.
Banning sticks, fists and gravity will be next…
They don’t have to slice tomatoes, do they? No, they wouldn’t be caught dead in a kitchen.
Ladies and Gents, thank you very much for the great points!
Y’all made me happy following a logic.
Thank you!
Troubling times in which we live.
This need to “ban” things is ridiculous.
What’s to be banned next? Shoes? Nobody needs more than one pair of shoes?
I’m sure that they’ll extoll the virtues of Government Rationing when it comes to material possessions!
Just remember, API, that they’ll be happy to ration back to you what they’ve taken from you in the first place.
Remember, it’s always for the children.
You say that to the women in my family (wife, daughter, 5 sisters and plethora of nieces) you are looking at a fight! From their Cold Dead Feet!!
