Weekend Open Thread
The photo doesn’t do it justice. But, even here, you’d be able to see what it would be like standing in shallow water like this. Riding a boat and floating over calm clear waters gives the appearance of “floating above dry ground”. Enough room to swim and dive? You’d feel the water around you, but it would “look” like you’re flying above the ground, sea creatures, and vegetation. Enjoy your weekend.

Lord over as I whimper.
I’m not good at this lording over stuff…
I will however wish everyone a happy and safe weekend, hope you all have something decent planned for what looks to be a nice end of summer/first of fall weekend.
I am hoping to get some Long Island Sound sailing in this weekend.
We’ll work on making Lording Over from the coveted FIRST of the TAH Friday Weekend Open Thread part of the 28th Amendment to the Constitution of These United States. Lording Over is not an option, it is a requirement.
Enjoy the sailing Brother, still in the high 90s here in the Peach State. Would love to do the Thunderbirds Air Show @ Robins this weekend, but I cannot physically handle the heat…or the crowds.
Isn’t there a TAH FM 169:224 with instructions on the proper techniques for lording over this collection of dickweeds ???
I remember reading some of that Army publication when I had my go at the Lord of the Dickweed Flies, er… Files…. Where the hell is that Whiteout for computer screens so I can fix that spelling mistake ?????

Haven’t been in the first ten in forever it seems.
Well, I tried. Beaten by VoV and by 5th/77th FA, my main men. So, to ease the pain, I’ll send up this week’s trivia column, right now! DID YOU KNOW…? Why was the popular meal “brunch” created? By Commissioner Wretched Wow, just as I’m getting over the euphoria of last week’s 150th column, I get to enjoy this week even more – my 61st birthday is Thursday. So I have a lot to be happy about this week. Recently, I had the chance to visit with my brother for a couple of hours, and over lunch we talked about things like getting older. My brother Mark and I compared the ravages of age as they took hold of us through the years. We’re both a bit overweight (okay, I’m more than a bit), both have gray hair, need glasses, have joint pains, get a little “down in the back” occasionally, and so forth. As brothers will do, we compared our symptoms, and realized that I – the older of the two – have it just a little better than he does, all things considered. We then agreed on two very important things regarding getting older: one, that it certainly beats the alternative; and two, that the great baseball player Satchel Paige had it right when he said, “Age is the triumph of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, then it don’t matter.” And I hope it won’t matter that I’m going to dive into this week’s trivia, right now. Did you know … … bats are the only mammals capable of continued flight? They are able to flap their wings and propel themselves. Any other flying mammal, such as the flying squirrel or the sugar glider, merely glides. (A fact that, no doubt, drives the other mammals batty.) … a hacker may have learned something nobody was supposed to know? Scottish computer hacker Gary McKinnon (born 1966) is believed to have gained access to 97 computers belonging to the military, NASA and the government. McKinnon says that, while he was sifting through the data he “appropriated,” he discovered proof… Read more »
Happy Upcoming Brthday, CW!
61?
You are a Youngster!
🎁🎉🎂😊
Thank you! But the birthday was yesterday; by arrangement with my newspaper publisher, I can only post the trivia column online after our last edition of the week hits the stands. So when you read the column, it’s for the week that’s ending, not the week that’s coming.
Confused? If not, would you explain it to me? I don’t even know what I’m talking about.
I now understand, so Happy BELATED Birthday!
Really enjoy your weekly Trivia.
Only one I question for authencity is the “Elephant in an Electric Stove”.
IMHO, I think that may NOT be true based on Alabama law:
https://www.animallaw.info/statutes/us/alabama
Source of the informtion? Just curious.
BTW, the only elephants I know in Alabama probably reside in Tuscaloosa and most likely they are stuffed animals sold at the UA Campus Bookstore or is a mascot costume for a UA College Student.
As AW1Ed aways states: *grin*
Hope you had a great 61st Birthday, Young-Un!
😉😊
I slept in this morning. Woke up feeling like “a million bucks”. Turned to look at the time readout… 4:17 a.m. Normally get up at or before 3:30 a.m. for a distance run that begins after 4 a.m.
Instead of happy belated, Ad multos annos.
Gratias tibi!

All mammals dream when they sleep. Watch a dog or a cat. They start chasing things in their sleep. Dogs may even bark when they dream. I have no idea why we dream, but it has something to do with discharging the neurons, or something like that.
I know EX, I love to watch my cats dream and chase mice and things! Very funny to watch, I do love my Kitties!
Does an octopus dream?
Really interesting.
Happy Belated Birthday, CW! Keep the weekly post going, I look forward to it!

Today’s homework assignment.
1. Make yourself a big bowl of popcorn and grab yourself a refreshment. Do not consume any of these items until step 8. Not being a hard-ass, I just don’t want anyone to choke and die.
2. Go to this website: http://casesearch.courts.state.md.us/casesearch/
3. Click on the box next to “I have read, understand and agree to the terms, conditions, and limitations noted above”
4. Click the “CONTINUE” button.
5. Enter this in the Search By Case Number box: D025CR19001371
6. Click “Get Case” button.
7. Read results.
8. Once your laughing/coughing fit has subsided, enjoy your popcorn and drink.
Bonus homework. My Google-fu has failed me.

The person who is able to come up with a mugshot will receive a Yellow Post-it Note of appreciation.
Not really a mug shot, but this seems to be your guy – back when he was running for mayor.
Do people really think that in this day and age (even way back in 2011) that phony claims of heroically sniperizing 77 dudes as a SEAL won’t get found out? Seems like a bad way to ensure your run for office (a very public venture) comes to a successful conclusion.
Yep, and he’s been featured here on TAH as well.
I want his current mugshot because those pictures always capture a person in the best way. *grin*
https://valorguardians.com/blog/?p=75706
BWAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAAHAAAA! 😆 The only “seal” in this guy’s description was this case… and posibly others. The guy has anger and control issues. In addition to his narcissism given his claims. The only “ops” that he did between watches were rack ops. 🙄
Animal cruelty? It’s a felony in Maryland, too. Good. Held without bond. Even better.
What did that piece of whale’s offal do?????
I’m doing my best to find out. But so far there’s nothing on the Algorenet that references the details.
He is currently Offender ID Number 2299885
in the Department of Pretrial and Detention Services, 401 East Eager Street, Baltimore, MD.
Just type in his Offender number under this link (choose Maryland):

Animal Abuse? That is interesting.
Another link for his information. Just type in his name.
https://www.dpscs.state.md.us/services/inmate-locator.shtml
Thanks, but I still want to know what he did to get charged with felony animal abuse.
If there’s a sheep involved, I think we can guess…
The animal’s fur reminded him of “The Hair”?
If any of you find out, please let us know. Thanks!
No.
I do -not- want to know. No way.
I will revise an extend my remarks.
An acquaintance, now deceased, was a criminal defense attorney. He would not touch a critter-abuser case. Someone once asked “why?”.
He told the story. Not enough brain-bleach in existence.
It was hushed up, but the guards had to remove him from the defendants cell. There might have been a very one-sided beating. Allegedly but unproven, and not documented. Ahem.
Animal abuse and child abuse get the same reaction from me: there is ZERO excuse for it, and punishment should be painful for the perp.
By painful, I don’t necessarily mean physically painful.
Physically is a good start, however. Child molesters get no pity from me. Neither do people who torture animals since I seem to remember reading somewhere that many of the most prolific serial killers got their start torturing animals.
I’m a betting women so…
A updated charge and a new defendant who we all know runs with this shitbag…
Bestiality….
As long as people are visiting the Maryland Judiciary Case Search site, type in the name of another prominent DRG member and see what he has been up to. Looks like no Christmas bonus this year for the sales staff of a proud but humble woman owned business that sells software to the federal government.
Awwww, did he lose a lawsuit and then try to declare bankruptcy?
Is (was?) Elaine Ricci a K Street pedigree who graduated from one of the top five schools in the nation?
Hope he enjoys being the on the cover of the latest edition of “Prison Bride Weekly”

Happy weekend everyone! Looking forward to an early winter here in the land of potatoes.
Are you by any chance making ham and scalloped potatoes with bacon this weekend?
Just askin’ for a friend.
Winter warning issued in Montana:
https://www.iceagenow.info/urgent-historic-winter-storm-warning-for-montana/
Last report for Montana was over 18 inches, but that has probably been updated. From what I can pick up on the Doppler return map, the snow cover in some places is nearing 36 inches in Montana. Good times for the ski bums.
It’s also falling at the northern edge of Lake Superior.
Is there a secret decoder ring for how one modifies font, embed photos, etc. in the forum here?
Also, out of curiosity, why does TAH not do accounts to post? Jus’ wonderin’. . .
“accounts to post…” – explain that? IF it’s something that involves specific coding, might want to ask mods to help you out with that.
In re: secret squirrel codes for changing fonts and stuff like that, you can embed photos if you copy your photo from your own blog and plop it into what you’re posting here.
Changing fonts – well, if you type something in a Word document and change fonts there, it may hold up here, too. Give it a try.
“Accounts”
I mean having to create an account and be logged in to post. This current set up makes it easy, so it’s not like I have an issue. Just didn’t know why it was done this way in TAH.
As to cut and paste from Word, the problem I noticed was that the area you reply in is plain text so it strips out any formatting. More info in the reply below.
There IS indeed a secret decoder ring, but only a very few can access same.
/sarc
Those who used to have to code everything because they blogged on a non-mac site while using a mac computer had to learn a bunch of that stuff. Some of it stuck and some of it didn’t, at least with me. Using [ ]’s and /’s strategically placed with common words in there some place works, if/when they are the same as what we used to know, if we remember what it was we wanted to say in the first place. Clear???
I’ve tried some of my limited knowledge of BBCodes doing things like this:
italics
bold
underline
but it didn’t work.
trying one more
Should I be using something else?
Sad face. . . .
Use the < > instead of the [ ]. The color coding is different.
There’s also blockquote and /blockquote for placing things in a quote box. I didn’t enclose “blockquote” for the obvious reason. 😀
You mean something like this ?
“Learn to code”.
Ouch
Bold and italics can be done here:
https://yaytext.com/bold-italic/
Copy pasta into the text box and the formatting will keep.
You can also cut and paste anything else that’s part of the unicode, so these emojis for instance;

“Copy pasta”?
But this isn’t Ex_PH2’s Thursday thread.
Pasta recipes will be coming up this fall. Hang in there. I’m thinking of penne with ham, bacon and cheese, toasty crusty garlic bread, plenty of fresh veg on the side and a modest white wine with a pleasant nose.
This happened in Gwinnett County, Georgia (Atlanta area) around 30 August 2019. Actual Video is below. “A Police Officer’s Friend Poses as Cop With Borrowed Badge & Gun To Get Free Food” “A police officer is out of a job and her friend faces felony charges after the officer let her friend borrow her badge and gun to get free snacks from QuikTrip, police said. Gwinnett police told Channel 2’s Tony Thomas that the officer worked for the Department of Community Supervision. Her friend was a former officer for the department. Thomas learned that it is a fairly common practice at some convenience stores that first responders get free snacks. Police said the DCS officer waited in the car and let her friend use her badge and gun to go into the QT and get free food. Gwinnett police Officer JT Smith saw the incident and didn’t recognize the officer. When Smith pulled the woman’s car over, she was still wearing the gun and badge. Video shows the moment Smith confronted Pektra Edgerton, 33. Edgerton claimed she worked for DCS.” “Are you a police officer, or are you not a police officer?” Smith asks on the tape.” “So a black person walks into a store with a badge and a gun and it’s an issue?” Edgerton asks on the video.” “It has nothing to do with you being black,” Smith says.” “After several seconds, Edgerton finally told the truth.” “You don’t have to be a police officer to go in there. I’ve been doing it for three years,” Edgerton said, claiming she was still a DCS officer.” “Smith then turned his attention to the passenger, Brandi Green, a real DCS officer who the gun and badge belonged to. Thomas contacted DCS to find out if Green was still employed as an officer. A spokesman said in a statement: “Upon being made aware of Ms. Green’s conduct, an internal investigation was initiated and Ms. Green was immediately suspended After Ms. Green was made aware of the forthcoming investigation, she resigned … on the same day.” Police charged Edgerton with felony impersonating… Read more »
“Stupid is as stupid does.” – Forrest Gump
Isn’t impersonating a police officer (cop’s badge, cop’s gun) a serious offense? Is that dumb broad really dumb enough to think that she could get away with it? And then she pulls the “race card”????
And those sausage arms look like what you would see on active duty police officer.
Ex:
According to the article, she was charged with a Felony Offense.
She is also claiming to be an Air Force Veteran. When you go to this site and scroll down, you will see a picture of her in uniform.
Which makes me wonder if she really was an Air Force Veteran. BTW, the comments in the link are kinda funny:
https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/air-force-veteran-33-is-arrested-for-using-her-friends-badge-and-gun-to-get-free-snacks.2714355/
This is a mugshot of her. She was released on a $4,000 Bail.

Have seen other pictures of her. The way she dresses? Well, let’s just say it is not feminine, if you get my drift.
Her name for Claw’s Wheel:
Pektra LaQuiche Edgerton

Ho. Lee. Crap. How did she manage to get accepted into anything? Am I supposed to believe that she was in anything that required a level of fitness above the basic “can walk without assistance” level?
Question: was she really in USAF? I look at those photos and I’m saying no, she was not. Isn’t that camo pattern out of date, or something? They keep changing, and I don’t keep track at all.
At 33, if she joined when she was 17 or 18, she would’ve joined in the early or mid-2000’s. It would’ve been feasible that the uniform she is wearing was the one that was still authorized as of that photo.
Fate. With a name like “LaQuiche” you just know food will be a problem. Never name a child after a food item. Do not tempt fate.
The person that was assigned the gun and badge exercised poor judgement by loaning those items to her friend. The fact this happened speaks volumes about the character of both. I wouldn’t be surprised if the phony officer had lapsed judgment call issues while in the Air Force, and then afterward.

Hey Dudes and Dudettes,
Present and accounted for, better late than never.
Friday!
Missed you, man! Glad you’re here.
Happy Weekend all of my TAH brethren! May you all enjoy a few cold ones and enjoy watching Live PD, that show is the best!!!
Anyone know if Phil Monkress will be working balls this weekend?
When is Phil Monkress*not* wirking balls??
😀 😀 😀
I heard that he may be working balls at or around a short air strip in Fluraduh where a certain disbarred lawer and wanna be pileit is still maintaining minus 6 feet AGL. Understand it has become a target rich location for ball working since the pitot tube was installed there.
Work is a four-letter word.
Have a great weekend y’all!
Long live godemperor Trump!!!
An ex-Air Force person named Randall Bean ran up bills and decided to run the gambit of “the government has a secret account for me in my name and I can use that account to do other things.”
(Welcome to the world of sovereign citizens.)
Along with a former attorney and prosecutor, Bean managed to defraud the US out of $31 million dollars.
When caught, the two represented themselves in court.
They lost and were sentenced to years in jail.
The two then sought to overturn the conviction on the basis that the court should not have let them represent themselves – even though they agreed to acting pro-se, and the judge took all of the necessary precautions.
The 6th Circuit denied their motion and said “stay in prison.”
The amusing and rather short decision is here: http://www.opn.ca6.uscourts.gov/opinions.pdf/19a0251p-06.pdf
That these idiots get caught doesn’t surprise me. That the government is so effing stupid that this can occur in the first place is the real crime here.
Dude literally just puts the federal reserve’s routing number in and the account number as his SSN and withdraws $31m from the fed. No phishing scam, no confidence game, no phone calls to Nigerian princes. Just transfers the money. Easy peasy.
Living in a “Military Strong” area, (40% of elementary students are of a military family.), I encounter military things every day. Recently an Air Force Retiree, Master Sergeant, who had no family and had had his fill of people and became recluse, having but one friend, a non-military next door neighbor, the father of a retired 7th Special Forces CW)-4, passed away. My Warrant friend wanted me and a couple others to make the 65 mile trip to see him to his resting place. We took it to Social Media and had a couple hundred at his funeral. I love this area.
Making this comment a bit of a test, this is from my facebook album on the funeral. I marked the album as “public” hoping that y’all could see it if you care to. If you click the link please comment that you can, or can not, see it, and let me know if you are a FB member. This is his Obit, and quite impressive:

Thanks for this post FC. BZ to this warrior. I think my former FnL and my brother may have served with him at some point. FnL was a Chief MSGT wing wiper in country during that time frame and had made mention of him way back yonder. Brother came along later in the early 70s and had made mention IIRC. The FB link opened with no problem and I could view the obit. I’m not on FB but Sister is. Commented thru her. Thanks Brother.
Thank you, 5th/77th FA. If I were more WordPress Savvy, I could probably insert photos into my comments. I store my photos in thumb drives, at my laptop, rather than online, except for those I post on Facebook, so that eliminates that sort of transfer. Knowing that the facebook photos can be seen by those reading here makes things a bit easier.
Six Distinguished Flying Crosses? Yowzers.
Glad you were able to send the warrior off in style. Nobody who did so much on behalf of our country should be forgotten.
And 24 Air Medals. That translates to between 400 and 600 missions, as the amount to qualify for one varied some between units. This guy was Real Deal, not needing to be “Honorary” anything.
Some who have read the obituary questioned that the CIA gave aid to Pol Pot and Khmer Rouge. I have looked into it and they damned sure did, using the mentality, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend, because the Khmer Rouge was fighting the NVA too.
Thank you for posting this, Frankie. Great photos. Good to see folks stepping up. It opened right up.
Thanks for letting me know.
I maybe an old dog but I can still do & learn new tricks!! Tanks besig!!!
😛
I played around with that as well a few years ago. That’s when I came across the smileys. Someone provided the codes for the “quotes”.
I got to plug in earlier during lunch break while substituting, this time for a HS Math teacher.
Been a lot of illness in the school already, among teachers and students. September is not over and already I have six full days of work on the books. Hope (for their sakes) it doesn’t get any worse.
I’ve been fighting a head-cold or stomach bug as well, but haven’t been down long – yet.
Question for the group: Has anyone read Jack Carr’s stuff, and how does it hold up to reasonable military action?
Is it like John Wick – fun but unrealistic – or Tom Clancy’s stuff, or something else?
Hope you feel better, Graybeard. I spent six hours in the ER on Sunday with my guts in a knot. After a CT scan, they think it’s diverticulitis, but they won’t know for sure until they stick a camera up my ass. You can imagine how much I’m looking forward to that, though at least I’ll be sedated, thank God. Until then, my best friend is copious amounts of ibuprofen.
Fortunately my symptoms are mild and I don’t have to have the doctor sticking things where the sun don’t shine. Good luck, TOW.
BTDT.
It’s especially fun when one of those little pockets bursts–into your bladder.
I got hit with a stomach “bug” last fall when I got my flu shot. Never spent so much time wondering if I would ever be able to get down regular meals, and I finally can, but oddly, it only happened when I broke down and got a Coke, like back in them there olden times, when the folk lore said ‘flat Coke will settle your stomach’. And it did. I should have tried that last fall.
Try a half teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water, Graybeard. See how that works. And also, try decanting Coke (or Diet Coke) until it goes flat. See if that helps. Some folk remedies do work.
Alert! there are six confirmed cases of whooping cough (pertussis) in my area, so now I need to ask the VA about getting the TDAP shot this fall.
After seeing the transcript of the phone call between Zelensky and Trump, Ukrainians apparently have nicknamed him “Monica Zelensky” — that’s pretty damn funny:
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/ukraine-president-being-dubbed-monica-164351277.html
While I have yet to see/hear anything to convince me that Trump has done anything impeachable (unlike Biden, who bragged on national TV about his own misdeeds), I will agree with you on that one, LC. That shit’s funny!
Agree. That’s funny. I’m surprised the Ukrainians get the reference.
Not first.
But I am enjoying the weekend with the Bush’s
in Kennebunkport.
Go ahead, check my IP.
HERE we go, a live cam on the Strasburg Rail Road, this weekend it features Norfolk & Western #611, THE ONLY operational Streamlined Steam Locomotive in the USA!
The False Commander “Phony” Phil Monkress (CEO of All-Points Logistics) works balls in the hall as he avoids calls seeking clarification of his Native American, Navy SEAL and Law Enforcement claims.
Felchin’ Phil, as he is “affectionately” known by his North Florida MC, likes to point the finger (when not is some random rent boys ass) and call you the poser. All the while taking taxpayer money based on asshatery.
In the Land of the Losers, Phildo was King!
Last day of FY19 and I’m sure the last minute big bucks supply requisitions service-wide are flying up to higher HQ’s in order to justify getting the same amount of money for FY20 as was allocated for this past year./s
Long story short: I have the numbers from the FY19 Valor Vultures Tote Board all added up and ready for posting.
If there are any Dickweeds/Weedettes out there who would like to see them now, just say the word.
If Not, I’ll wait until this coming Fridays WOT.
Let’s see them now. I bet Army is till losing to Navy.
The Valor Vultures tab is a goldmine.
Takes a while for the entire list to load and
combined with the calendar I can usually find
the bird I’m looking for but I think a simple
list of names to search through would save a
lot of bandwidth and server time.
Thanks for the heads up on closing the books.
All excees items have been turned in and all
allocated funds spent as directed.
As per rgr769’s request, the FY19 Valor Vultures Tote Board results are:
Navy – 34 & 1/2 plus 1/3*
Army – 31 & 1/3*
Marines – 11 & 1/2 plus 1/3*
Air Force – 2
Coast Guard – 1
* The 1/3 for each of those services is the result of Steve “Zippy the Roided Out Pinhead” Lang who claimed to be a Navy SEAL and a Marine Scout-Sniper, but was in actuality a Buck Private in the Army National Guard.
Just as I suspected. It is hard to compete with the public’s view of the panache of one being a Navy SEAL.
Hey, Navy got to win something every now and again; after all, the FIRST weekend in December is rapidly approaching! 😀
Hey, Now, I have it on good authority that there is no way in Hell that Army will beat Navy in football the first weekend in December./smile
