Colorado Air Force master sergeant remains in military after investigation into white nationalist ties

| August 28, 2019

The Air Force completed its investigation into Master Sgt. Cory Reeves and officials are taking the action deemed appropriate.

Just about the time I begin to think this kind of nonsense is a thing of the past, it springs up from somewhere.

If Reeves does indeed participate in any form of White Supremacy, I would like the Air Force to explain why he is still in uniform.

Air Force Master Sgt. Cory Reeves

The Air Force finished its investigation into Master Sgt. Cory Reeves and officials are taking the action deemed appropriate, said Ann Stefanek, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Air Force. She confirmed Reeves remains at his same rank and continues to be employed by the military branch more than three months after the military became aware of Reeves’s alleged ties with Identity Evropa, one of the most visible white supremacist groups in Colorado.

She said no further information could be provided and declined to answer other questions, including whether the investigation confirmed Reeves involvement in Identity Evropa and what discipline he faced, if any.

“Racism, bigotry, hatred, and discrimination have no place in the Air Force,” she said in a statement. “We are committed to maintaining a culture where all Airmen feel welcome and can thrive.”

Reeves appeared in multiple photos posted on Identity Evropa’s social media pages. He also appeared in a video purporting to show members of the group painting a mural of Identity Evropa’s logo under a Denver-area overpass.

The Southern Poverty Law Center identified the group as a white nationalist organization and the Anti-Defamation League called it a white supremacist organization. After Identity Evropa’s internal online chats were leaked, the group rebranded as the American Identity Movement.

While congratulating another member for posting flyers across Front Range colleges, Reeves wrote: “We all applaud you. Colorado will be sieged relentlessly and become the capital of the ethnostate.”

I am no fan of The Southern Poverty Law Center, it has become just as bad as the groups it claims are racist in my opinion.  They have very little credibility left.
Nonetheless,  little Corey and his ilk need some special kind of motivational training.  It is hard for me to understand how we can still have scum like this guy in uniform.

…Part of it has to be that in the USAF (at least when i was in) it was remarkably tough to nail an E7 or higher for anything.

Toxic Deplorable Racist B Woodman

I would want a definition of what is meant by “white nationalist”. I am “white”, and I am a “nationalist”. Does that make me a hater, or a racist? Judge by actions, not necessarily titles.
And if the ADL and SPLC are defining, and conflating, the terms “white nationalist” = “white supremacist” = racist/hater, then I would be triply skeptical.

Hopefully the Chair Farce (interservice dig) reached their decision by looking at MSGT Reeve’s actions, possibly even into his own words on social media, vs what other people say that he said and “meant”.

I agree Tox.Maybe they (SPLC ect) is stirring a pot just cause they can and maybe the MSG is a dumbass that hasn’t realized that putting stupid sh^t on social media is… well… stupid. I will admit to being prejudiced against idiots and ne’er do wells, but will give anyone else a chance to show that they are NOT idiots or ne’er do wells.

Wonder if this ties somehow or another to that Army idiot down at Ft ? Bliss ? that we talked about a few weeks ago? Attention Whores are everywhere, but be careful what you put on the innerwebz; they are forever and TAH/MP are not the only ones that have ninjas. You would think that a MSG would have better sense.

“I would want a definition of what is meant by “white nationalist””

Me too. It is a recent term.
I think what they are trying to do is mix
“white nation” and “alist” to make it something evil.
I am white. I support my nation.
Ergo I am a White Nationalist.

Don’t let them change the meaning of words.

Reddawg_03

Yep. And just because you (whoever that my be) don’t agree with the findings…..Doesn’t mean hes guilty of anything.

Why shouldn’t he still be in if they didn’t find him guilty

If this guy’s story proves true, he needs a BCD post haste.

While I am not a racist nor bigot I do discriminate. I discriminate in what I do, what food I like and what people I associate with. None of these choices have anything to do with race, there’s or mine.

But according to the SPLC, simply being white and having pride in my families’ heritage make me a racist, white nationalist. If I were Black, Hispanic or Native American and was not just proud of my heritage but marched, caused problems, rioted, attacked others and otherwise broke the law for my “cause”, I would be as good as gold in their book. But to say I am white and proud of MY heritage automatically flags me as a racist and bigot of the worst sort in their eyes. To take from Toxic Deplorable’s thoughts above, to be proud of who I am will get me the big, bright red stamp of their ugly and incorrect definition of White Nationalist, i.e. racist, bigot, etc.

It goes along with the long-held view of minorities that only whites can be racist and a minorities’ racism is just the defacto view they are entitled to.

Considering the murder rate among blacks by blacks, I don’t think it a stretch to say they are racists. To look at the murders between Hispanic and Black gangs is an easy call that they are as racist as any White Supremacist ever hoped to be.

Minorites love labels, as long as they are only applied to whites.

I probably did not get my point across well. But I tried anyway.

“I would want a definition of what is meant by white nationalist.”

Yea, his words were pretty clear about that:

““We all applaud you. Colorado will be sieged relentlessly and become the capital of the ethnostate.”

THAT’S the words of a white nationalist. Why don’t you go ahead and interpret that into some wholesome language for us and tell us what he “meant.”

Expect to see more of these kinds of stories. There are some fairly clear flags that race is going to be a major factor in the next election: Earlier this month, the New York Times had an all-hands meeting conducted by Executive Editor Dean Baquet. A transcript of that meeting was then leaked to the online magazine Slate. During the course of the meeting, Baquet said that since NYT’s effort to get rid of President Trump based on Russian collusion had failed, the paper was now going to pivot its resources to go after him on the basis of race. The opening salvo in this new crusade was a long piece that ran in the August 14th issue of the New York Times Magazine. Internally, it was part of what the NYT calls The 1619 Project. So here’s the so-called “newspaper of record” saying that instead of reporting on news as it happens, they’re going to make the news they want to happen. Or something. The following is a link to the Slate piece, scroll down for the start of the transcript: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/08/new-york-times-meeting-transcript.html Those who were paying attention earlier this year might have also noticed a scandal involving the Southern Poverty Law Center. According to some reports, the SPLC had fired co-founder Morris Dees because the organization had pretty much turned mainly into an operation to financially fleece liberal Northerners by using white guilt as leverage. It seems to me that why any journalist would trust the SPLC anymore is a mystery, but perhaps some either didn’t get the memo or have chosen to ignore it. Nor does the bulk of the news media, and its minions, now apparently want to allow any deviation from the progressive narrative. Also earlier this month, Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson did a segment in which he said the hysteria about white supremacy was mostly overblown. According to Carlson, a gathering of all the real white supremacists in the country would probably have a hard time filling a football stadium. One might think Carlson’s comments would result in merely the usual pearl-clutching, and a… Read more »

“Also earlier this month, Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson did a segment in which he said the hysteria about white supremacy was mostly overblown. According to Carlson, a gathering of all the real white supremacists in the country would probably have a hard time filling a football stadium.”

Wow, Tucker Carlson said that? Well, case closed. Thank god for level-headed, non-politicized people like Tucker Carlson to do our thinking for us.

Perry Gaskill

Thanks. That pretty much proves my point. Instead of questioning the relative value, good or bad, of Carlson’s message, you decided to shoot the messenger with a sarcastic comment designed to imply the logical fallacy of Carlson’s false authority.

I have no particular regard for Carlson except that, like anybody else, he’s supposed to be allowed to express his opinion. In this instance, his opinion is that general perceptions of the extent of white supremacy organizations are likely to be overblown. Such an opinion is also minor compared to the more serious issue that those who disagree with Carlson are willing to censor him by going after his advertisers.

Is Carlson’s estimate correct? Beats me. According to some estimates, Identity Evropa has, nationally, no more than 200 members. According to the SPLC, which tends to tar with a very broad brush, there were 148 American groups defined as “white nationalist” in 2018. Do the math: If the average membership of all groups combined was 200, that indicates a total membership of 29,600, or about 0.0001 percent of the population.

Obviously some groups are going to be larger than the average. The Ku Klux Klan has been estimated at around 5,000 and the largest neo-Nazi group is at about 400. Personally, shame on me, I find other clear and present dangers to the republic more significant than some doofus who wants to wear a sheet, or another pinhead who likes to pose as a storm trooper.

(Note to AW1Ed: feel free to roll the “I hate Illinois Nazis” Blues Brother clip at any time.)

What also seems to be missing in this discussion is that the country has gone through hysterical witch-hunts before. Back in the 1950’s, Joseph McCarthy had half the country freaking out about communists, and checking for a commie boogeyman under their beds. McCarthy’s brief crusade eventually ended when he was bitch-slapped by Edward R. Morrow, but not before a lot of lives and careers were probably unfairly wrecked.

Ret_25X

White Nationalist is a meaningless term.

In an era of stupid identitarian politics, why are some groups allowed and others not?

All identity based political groups have to go.

This means ALL…whether race, religion, gender, or even Masonic membership based.

Otherwise, they all have to be allowed.

David

I remember a guy at DLI who was teemed unfit to get a security clearance due to “Nazi ties”. Turned out his wife was a reporter for the campus newspaper, and got assigned to cover a public meeting of some neoNazi group. My buddy, knowing people like that could be idiots, accompanied her – and his name was reported. No TSSI for him. Nice guy, think they told him he was gonna be a 71L personnel clerk instead.

Club Manager, USA ret.

I agree with Dave about the SPLC, and the ADL tends to go a tad overboard by applying a broad brush. Nevertheless, I looked up the group this MSgt is associated with and have to question why he is still on AD. It also shows how the values of the force have changed. When I was stationed in Colorado Springs, the recreational past time was trying to get a little strange. While this MSgt is entitled to his beliefs, he needs to apply them as a civilian. As a closer why these people are so wrong, I’ve been having the usual medical problems associated with aging and almost every specialist I have been referred to in Little Rock at the best hospitals and clinics have been “dark skinned” immigrants, primarily from Pakistan, India and Lebanon. A doctor from India figured out something several others missed. My Cardiologist is from Taiwan and her and her husband (my other Cardiologist from Texas) are getting a bottle of Dom P. for Christmas in appreciation for their care.

Ret_25X

why? If AD personnel are allowed to be in antifa, black identity movement, masons, etc, etc, etc, why should this one group be singled out?

The problem here is that the government isn’t consistent about which group is “in” and which is “out”.

Unless he has committed or been accessory to an actual crime, his rights to be a jackass is protected.

“why? If AD personnel are allowed to be in antifa, black identity movement, masons, etc, etc, etc, why should this one group be singled out?”

There’s antifa and black identity movement active service members? I’m going to need some sources.

And Masons? Freemasonry has existed since the 1400s. You ARE aware that 14 Presidents have been Masons? Including George Washington?

Club Manager, USA ret.

40 years ago, a couple of our African-American NCO’s who also served as night managers at my Mainz NCO Club approached me about booking the entire club for a private event on a Saturday night. They also wanted to stipulate who worked the event drawing staff from other clubs in our system. I knew the shit kickers would be put out but these were NCO’s I knew and trusted. I stopped by the club that night to check on what was going on and was the only white face there. Everyone one was resplendent in white suits. An elderly couple I watched being escorted in by two men wearing white tuxedos were prominently seated and clearly the guests of honor. I watched from out of sight after all were seated and nothing happened until the woman banged her walking stick twice then the music and party started. I thought WTF and departed to give them the privacy sought. My point being is all one color groups have existed in the military for years, below the radar in most cases, with no problem.

Thanks for playing.

“Lefty and anti-religion bigots.”

Sooooo… you want to get rid of all leftists in the military? And what’s wrong with being anti-religious in the military? The military is SUPPOSED to be free from religion.

wrong. nothing in this country is designed to be anti-religion. it was designed to not have an official religion, or more exactly to allow all religions. something the liberals in our midst like to conveniently forget.

no military is ever free from religion, for the precise reason that no atheists are found in foxholes.

stop being obtuse.

Maybe the Air Force still thinks he has the “Reich Stuff”. 🙂

This just may take are of itself. Maybe.

If his association with a subversive group precludes him from maintaining the security clearance to do his job, his job options may well become so limited that he an no longer function in USAF. There just aren’t that many slots (especially at his rank) available for those without clearances. Even if his job doesn’t require it, he could be in a heap of trouble if he can’t attend any briefings.
