Justin Wisdom Barlee – Fake US Marine Arrested

| July 11, 2019

Several newspapers in the Phillippines are announcing the arrest of Justin Wisdom Barlee. Barlee, who also went by Jerry Rockstone and Jerry Brown, was arrested for allegedly engaging in a dubious money-making scheme.

According to Inquirer.net:

According to National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Barlee has been in the country looking for financiers purportedly to help him recover his money – allegedly worth $150,000 – in a cargo firm.

Reportedly, Barlee has been going around claiming he is an American serviceman. But NBI’s verification with the US Embassy proved Barlee was neither a member of the US Marine Corps nor a holder of an American passport.

On Barlee’s Facebook profile, he says he “Worked at military” — so yeah, we can check that box.

According to Tempo.com:

NBI Director Dante Gierran said the NBI acted on information that the suspect has been introducing himself as US Marine Corps officer Jerry Brown and seeking a financer to recover his money deposited at Global Cargo with a demurrage fee of $150,000.

NBI agents seized from the suspect a US passport identifying him as US Marine Corps officer Jerry Brown and documents showing he has luggage stored at Global Cargo.

Prior to the arrest, Gierran said the NBI already confirmed from the US Embassy in Manila that the suspect is not Jerry Brown and that there is no such person who is member of the US Marine Corps.

The Embassy also noted that the passport has been reported lost in 2013.

Even after his arrest, the suspect remained elusive of his identity, introducing himself as Justine Barlee and Jerry Rockstone.

So if any of you scammers want to take your “A” game overseas, this shows you how simple it is – just say you “worked in military” and wear a USA t-shirt.  They’ll fill in the blanks.

Oh, and don’t forget a catchy middle name such as “Brilliant,” “Genius,” or “Wisdom.”   Then top it off with a catchy last name of “Brookriver” “Grasslawn” or “Rockstone.”
