2 in custody, 1 sought after attempted burglary in Altamonte Springs, officials say

SANFORD, Fla. —

A manhunt continues for a burglary suspect who investigators said ran off when he was confronted and shot at by a homeowner.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said two suspects are in custody, but a third is still on the run after deputies said they tried to burglarize a house in Altamonte Springs, but were stopped when the homeowner shot at them.

“I saw the black car go inside, then the white car is in already. Then I hear, pop,” witness Juan Rivera said.

Neighbors said it all started around 1 p.m. when a white car pulled into the driveway of a house off Virginia Avenue.

Minutes later, neighbors said the homeowner pulled in; then they heard a gunshot.

“Pop. Maybe a .38. Then I saw the guy running away,” Rivera said.

Sheriff’s deputies said the homeowner was the one who fired a gun, shooting at the suspects after walking in on them.

No one was hit by the bullet.

Deputies said the suspects then ran out, jumped in their car and sped off. They allegedly left their vehicle in Sanford near the intersection of State Road 46 and International Parkway.

Two suspects were arrested nearby, but after searching the area for hours, deputies didn’t find the third suspect.

No charges against woman for shooting friend to death

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office ruled Thursday the fatal shooting of a 48-year-old Clinton Township woman by a 37-year-old Detroit woman was justifiable, saying the younger woman won’t be charged because she acted in self-defense.

Angela McDuell was shot and killed about 7:15 p.m. April 22 outside a liquor store at Hayes and Fordham in Detroit during a verbal argument that included a third woman. McDuell and the suspect knew each other and were previously in a relationship, according to the prosecutor’s office.

The three woman were arguing in the parking lot when McDuell allegedly pepper sprayed the suspect, who then went to her car and retrieved a handgun. The argument appeared to have ended when McDuell walked back to her car, got in and drove twice at the suspect and the other woman at a high rate of speed, according to authorities.

The two women tried to get away as McDuell drove at them for a third time, nearly pinning the two women against a wall with her vehicle. The suspect, who is a CPL holder, shot at McDuell, fatally wounding her.

Man shot and killed during downtown Reno sexual assault deemed ‘justifiable homicide’ by Reno police

After a woman shot and killed a man that was sexually assaulting her and a friend on the Sierra Street bridge on April 20, the Reno Police Department has determined she was justified in her actions.

Reno investigators determined that in the early-morning hours of Saturday, April 20, 29-year-old Josue Oconitrillo approached two women walking across the Sierra Street bridge and attempted to sexually assault one of the women.

The women fought back and one of them drew a firearm, demanding he stop the attack.

Oconitrillo continued the assault and the woman shot him in the upper torso.

Officers were called to the scene at about 1:15 a.m. on a call of a shooting and found Oconitrillo suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center where he died.
