Fatal shooting at Canton liquor store ruled justified, police say

By Lillian Reed
City prosecutors have ruled a fatal shooting at House of Spirits liquor store in Canton was justified and made in self-defense, Baltimore police announced Tuesday.

When two gunmen tried to hold up the family-owned liquor store in the 2300 block of Fleet St. on Jan. 12, a cashier shot one of the would-be robbers, according to police.

The suspect fled the shop and collapsed on the 500 block of Collington Ave. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died, police said.

Can’t make this up.

On Sunday, March 3, 2019, officers attempted to take Machiavelli Tyzhae Savoy, 20, of Lexington Park into custody, however, Savoy refused to stop his vehicle and a pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, Savoy lost control of the vehicle he was operating while negotiating a curve on Pegg Road. Savoy’s vehicle crossed the centerline of the roadway and struck another vehicle.

A preliminary investigation determined a 1995 GMC Jimmy, operated by Savoy, was traveling northbound on Pegg Road when Savoy lost control of the vehicle in the area of West Westbury Boulevard. Savoy’s vehicle crossed the centerline and entered the southbound lanes of travel, where it struck a 2016 Volkswagen Beetle, operated by Carol Jean Anderson, 87 of Leonardtown.

On March 9, 2019, Carol Jean Anderson, 87 of Leonardtown, succumbed to the injuries sustained in the motor vehicle collision.

Located on Machiavelli Savoy’s person prior to being transported to the hospital was a loaded handgun. Drugs, thousands of dollars in cash, and other items of evidence were also recovered from the vehicle.

Carla Yvette Blanton, 48, and Corrina Lyevette Savoy, 24 both of Lexington Park, (Machiavelli’s mother and sister) arrived at the scene of the motor vehicle crash and began to yell and curse at officers and emergency personnel.

While officers and emergency personnel were attempting to provide aid to injured parties Blanton and Savoy’s actions were hindering rescue operations and the police investigation. Blanton and Savoy were given multiple commands to cease their actions, however, both Blanton and Savoy refused.

Fair winds and following seas, Ms. Anderson. The entire article may be viewed here: SoMD News Net

Sounds like the person attempting to rob the House of Spirits became a spirit himself.
I wonder if the owners of the liquor store can buy the body of the robber, have him taxidermied, and placed by the door as a visual warning to others contemplating robbing the establishment?

Ex-PH2

Stick a cigar in his hand, too.

I find these names fascinating. This one struck me as very strange: Machiavelli Tyzhae Savoy.

Machiavelli? The guy who wrote “The Prince”, hoping that Lorenzo de Medici would give him a place in government? Seems to me that this particular Machiavelli done failed da test sequence on how to come out on top of things. Crashing your vehicle into another and killing the driver wasn’t one of Niccolo Machiavelli’s recommendations for gaining and keeping power.

Doesn’t help when Mommy and Sissy show up and make nuisances of themselves, does it?

Hey, Beans! You just described every leftwinger politician we have on the rolls right now!

QMC

In Baltimore? From a business owner? No.

From the gangs that run half of the city (including the city council)? Yes.

I find it interesting that the Baltimore Sun finally decided to just get rid of the comments section on their articles. I guess they just got tired of deleting all the angry and inquisitive comments against the radical left wing politicians that have been destroying the city for the past 50 years.

UpNorth

That happens a lot, QMC. The local paper here deleted their comment section on thee stories they ran on their website, then got rid of the ‘Letters to the Editor’ section of the paper. Then all 4 of the local TV stations deleted their comment sections on their internet sites, as did the local radio stations. Mustn’t upset the proles, I guess.

if you notice, NONE of the leftie blogs have a comment section…BTW…”leftie blog” is complimentary when directed at the Sun

The Memphis man who was shot in the head is “expected to be okay”. But will being shot in the head change his attitude about attempting to carjack?

Green Thumb

Memphis.

No surprise there…

Claw

It’s too bad there’s not a link to the Memphis story.

I was looking forward to reading about Turd Bolling getting shot in the head./smile

Green Thumb

It probably happened when Turd Bolling was on the watch.

What a clown that guy is.

“tried to hold up the family-owned liquor store”

Most Liquor stores are “family” owned.

NHSparky

In a lot of places they ain’t.

New Hampshire, for one.

You need a mob presence first.

Is that gun the infamous snubnosed revolver of Hollywood fame carried by assorted various sordid persons in 1930s movies like “Public Enemy Number One”?

Did Dillinger or Baby Face Nelson have one of those?

26Limabeans

Dillinger was a Navy vet:

“He decided to enlist in the U.S. Navy to resist arrest. John didn’t take to well to the Navy and they didn’t take to him, with his obvious subordination and going AWOL. He spent some time solitary confinement before finally deserting for good in December, 1923.”

Those peeps who were shot in the head would have been a “head” of the game if they didn’t try and rob people
