Thursdays Are For Cooking… and Fridays Are For Coming Clean About the Cooking

| December 14, 2018

PhillyMag recently did an article about South Philly self-proclaimed celebrity chef Michael DePasquale.  DePasquale has claimed to be a friend and business partner of the late Anthony Bourdain, as well as being a United States Marine.

This article references another article by the South Philly Review.

Oh, and DePasquale recently “nursed a Vietnam veteran back to health who was suffering from kidney and congestive heart failure using herbs recommended by Bourdain,” according to the South Philly Review story.

Then…

He said that he “cooked for several presidents” and that he was scheduled to cook for Vladimir Putin shortly after one of the videos was recorded.

He said that he was conducting a private investigation into Bourdain’s untimely death (the South Philly Review article indicated that DePasquale was “using resources from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the presidential cabinet” for that inquiry).

He spoke about being a United States Marine who did “three tours in Afghanistan, Iraq and Fallujah.”

And later…

And for the miracle cure that DePasquale provided to that Vietnam vet:

“It’s a disabled vet who had lung and heart failure and kidney failure,” DePasquale said to me on Tuesday afternoon. “He was going to be put on dialysis on a Monday, but then Bourdain got me in touch with an herbalist. I gave him some herbs and I cooked him cabbage and potatoes and greens, and in four or five days, he was able to walk again. Soon, he was walking and talking like a champion.”

Alas, DePasquale didn’t want to put me in touch with the cured patient, but he added that the man had “landed four space shuttles.”

Space shuttles?   Hmmm… it’s all so clear to me now.  As to his military service…

And speaking of vets, I wanted to learn more about DePasquale’s service to our country — especially since there were no publicly known U.S. military deployments in Iraq or Afghanistan between 1994 and 1997, the years that DePasquale told us he served as a Marine.

“I don’t wanna talk about my military stuff,” DePasquale said when I asked him about his career in the armed forces. “But let me just say that Afghanistan and Iraq are some of the most dangerous places around. I was also in Kosovo and Albania. I’m glad I did what I could. I’m glad I was able to help people.”

But, the U.S. Marine Corps weighed in, according to author Victor Fiorillo…

But I’ll tell you who did get back to me: the United States Marine Corps. On Tuesday, I contacted the press office for the USMC, and they provided me with an official statement stating that they had no record of DePasquale ever serving in the Marines.

I called DePasquale back on Tuesday evening to ask him about what the Marines had told me. I wasn’t sure what he’d say, what explanation or excuse he’d offer. But he didn’t offer any. He was shocked that I contacted the Marines.

The South Philly Review article has since been deleted.  I wonder why?  However, it was preserved here…

Any purported friend of Bourdain is automatically suspect in my book, so this is no great surprise. Thanks, EA.

could go for a philly cheese steak, ‘wit’ though…

Bourdain was a great wit and had a gift for the written and spoken word. I hear he was an excellent chef, too. He was, unfortunately, a libtard of the first order and, thus, deeply disturbed.

He did however go out and talk to the deplorable fly over masses and said there was a lot of nice people out there. He had his politics but he was willing to find out for himself what was really going on. Check out his shows when he went to Texas and the midwest. He really liked shooting with Ted Nugent.

Arby

But the episode where he went to Saudi Arabia and touted all the freedoms women had there was a total BS fest.

charles w

Yea, but they didn’t take him to the killing grounds. He was a dick but now he’s a dead dick. Wonder if that had anything to do with his suicide. Hanging out with lefties would do it to me.

AW1Ed

I did like the episode where he went “Down East” in Maine and spent quality time with some locals in their winter cabin. He was firing a bolt rifle, 30.06 most likely, and found his eye relief about an inch behind the scope, and fired.
Ouch.
Nice half moon split in his right eyebrow. OK, so I did like one of his shows.

Grunt

Damn. This dude got dealt with.

Kudos to the reporter who called his bullshit!

JacktheJarhead

It is kind of surprisng that in this day and age, with the access to information people have, that people still do this.

He was shocked the reporter contacted the Marine Corps? Why? Because the reporters B***SH!T detector probably went off. The minute I heard half of that crap, mine went off. He gave someone herbs, cabbage and potatoes and he was cured to fly another shuttle mission! Did he get that recipe from my aunt? Cabbage makes everything better!

Lying sack of excrement.

Ex-PH2

You want a good cabbage recipe? It will cure whatever ails your innards. It’s my sister’s, and it is to die for.

If this guy is a “chef”, what cooking school/culinary institute did he go to?

OC

Don’t tease us Ex – where’s the recipe?

5th/77th FA

Bring it! We ain’t skeered. Just hongry. It does include bacon?

Have cornbread…will cabbage.

Nancy Johnson

1/2 to 1 lb bacon; dice & cook in wok.
when bacon done, throw in cabbage chunks & onion; cook til hot but still crisp. Delicious.
well, delicious if you like cabbage & bacon & onion.

5th/77th FA

‘Pears like I need to join the Morman Church cause I’m in lust..err..err love with both of you. Have y’all considered becoming Sister Wives?

Had forgotten about Ex’s sister’s religious dietary restrictions.

Loves me some bacon, cabbages, and onions;… and cornbread with lots of butter!

Ex-PH2

No, no bacon. My sister’s cooking is entirely pigless.

Mr. Pete

But what about yours?

Tallywhagger

I love cabbage, let’s see what you have!

26Limabeans

Cabbage and beer.

Tallywhagger

Kimchi and beer… even the dog won’t sleep with you! I like Kimchi but the family would leave the house when I opened the jar

Guard Bum

I was just about to post something similar. I ate a bunch of Kimchee last night and the wife just about made me sleep in the spare bedroom! Even my dog was bitching.

CCO

A vet who landed four space shuttles? Flash Thompson? No, he crashed, but maybe that counts.

Well, actually, a lot of Shuttle pilots were military so that might be possible. A Vietnam vet however?

Michael DePasquale doesn’t want to talk about his military stuff. Why not? He seems old enough to have had a GI Joe and watched Gomer Pyle, USMC, at least in reruns. I like that he was shocked that someone attempted to corroborate or verify his claim. ‘That’s not supposed to happen,’ he must have thought, ‘Not nowadays.’

2/17 Air Cav

He can’t talk about his service: Deep Dish DePasquale.

RGR 4-78

For some reason I think his pizza sauce is a few herbs shy a full recipe.

SFC D

I think the author of that piece deserves to be an honorary TAH Dickweed. Mr. Fiorillo, drop by sometime!

Holy lord, the bullshit meter is absolutely pegged on that one! Greasy, sloppy looking liar who isn’t even remotely convincing. You’ve got a miracle cure of herbs? Do tell.

5th/77th FA

Well, I just be a sumbitch. There I was, minding my own damn bizness, stuck on Space Shuttle Door Gunner detail, eating leftover C-Rats & 10n1 rations. This azzhole serving up gourmet philly cheese steaks and cabbages to everyone else.

Virgil, hand me that there P-38; I got a can I need to open up on his azz.

Comm Center Rat

Next thing you know, DePasquale will claim he worked for the CIA as a “deep-dish undercover field operative.” Well maybe the other CIA – Culinary Institute of America. He might have a few dough clusters on his pastry chef medal.

Mason

Fraud? Gobsmacked I am.

5th/77th FA

Florida!….again? Where is my shocked face when I need it?

Article also said he was a Fugitive.

It matches the Mugshot description:

“According to the background check, DePasquale has had some brushes with the law, including allegations of writing “worthless checks” that appear to have eventually been dismissed. Court records in Maryland from 2016 indicate that DePasquale was charged with being a fugitive, and there was an extradition hearing, but it is unclear from the court records we found exactly what happened in that case.”

Okay, I’m not interested in ruining this twit’s business. All he has to do is cut the bull snort stuff and shut up. Just get on with his pots and pans, and shut up.

Green Thumb

This clown put the wrong kind of mushrooms in his sauce….

Green Thumb

Dude also looks all gooched in the picture.

He is probably washing those mushrooms down with some cooking sherry.

11B-Mailclerk

He sure sounds like he uses Herb alright….

Like “Baking with Cheech and Chong”

Combat Historian

“…especially since there were no publicly known U.S. military deployments in Iraq or Afghanistan between 1994 and 1997, the years that DePasquale told us he served as a Marine…”

He was stationed in Fallujah in 1994 as an early advanced scout sniper so he can prep the battlefield for when MNF-West showed up to liberate the city ten years later…///

AnotherPat

According to Maryland Court records, in 1994, he was arrested and charged with Battery in Maryland.

He was convicted and sentenced to Jail for one year. It looks as if he spent two months in Jail since his sentence was suspended to 320 days of Probation, with it ending in November 1995.

Just another cover story that we see from other Posers.

“I knew Tony Bourdain.
Tony Bourdain was a friend of mine.
You sir, are no Tony Bourdain”

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Wow someone looking to cash in on an association with a famous dead guy, who knew?

The dude’s a nobody who was hoping to become a somebody but his meal ticket decided to check out early with a rope necklace.

What a load of crap this guy was selling, fortunately exposed before it got very far, sparing some other unfortunates from having to hear this blather.

Daisy Cutter

His alleged relationship reminds me of that scene from Dr. Strangelove where the general goes into the bathroom and kills himself.

Then, Peter Sellers is left with dealing with the mess afterward.

Go to about 6:30 if you don’t want to watch all of it.

charles w

Purity of essence.

Danielle

I’m a retired investigative reporter and I caught this story. Seems that the reporter never spoke to the real Michael DePasquale but spoke to a business associate on the phone.. I spoke to the so called perpetrator and the story I’m getting contradicts what the reporter posted. Yes the guy had some issues with the law In the past, he is a real chef, he has owned several successful restaurants with professional athletes, he is a big donor to Veteran Charities and sits on the board of one, and yes to all the veterans on here he did bring a Vietnam Veteran back to substainable health with a diet plan and has been taken care of him. The man is a Veteran and did work for NASA as a communicator that helped land the shuttles from a communicator tower, I spoke to the Veteran and Also seen videos. As for the run in’s with the law he is guilty of that. I compared notes and I truly believe he did not speak to that reporter. And as for the Bourdain claims he has pictures and a signed contract. Pictures don’t lie.. he has sent me several pictures of him with different celebrities, famous chefs, and lots of athletes…..I’m going to keep following the story on him to get to the bottom
Of this off the wall story. I do thourough investigations on all potential stories before I put them to print or out in the different media channels. He never told me either he served in any military branches. His cheesecakes and pizza are well known. Since we spoke I know he has retained legal counsel for representation for falsifying his name and information and quoting him falsely.

Stars and Strips E8

I just read ya post Danielle and I kinda got the same intel! It seems that the reporter never spoke to the real guy who the hell did he speak to. That’s a real mistake on his part. Reporters should always talk to a lead in person. As for the getting in trouble with the law that’s seems to be true. Danielle ya seem to be correct on the restaurants he’s owned, veterans charities and helping a veteran, he does have pics with Chef Anthony Bourdain, and has good standings with lots of Va organizations. I’m following as well Miss Danielle. Good work how does a reporter not. Report right info. Bad World of reporting. Just like they doing to our President.
