Republicans Win Florida Senator and Governor Recounts

| November 19, 2018

The recounts in Florida, for governor and senator, resulted in Republican wins. This solidifies the Republican lead in the Senate. This also marks a first for Florida, as this would be the first time, since the 19th century, that Republicans held both Senate seats.

From Reuters’ Bernie Woodal:

Republicans will hold both Senate seats from Florida, the third most-populous U.S. state and a regular battleground in presidential races, for the first time since 1875, during the post-Civil War period.

In his concession speech, Senator Bill Nelson took an indirect swipe at President Donald Trump. Senator Nelson made it sound like he wanted us to heal and come together. If he wanted to do away with destructive “win at all costs” politics, he would’ve strongly reviewed his concession speech before giving it.

Taking a swipe at someone, doing what his supporters want him to do, essentially takes a swipe at those supporters. Response? They would “fight back” instead. There goes what he wished for.

But, he didn’t truly want people to “come together”. His statement was more of a “firing while retreating” speech… Giving himself the appearance of “being a martyr”.

Since the recount was involved, the author referenced the 2000 Presidential Election.

Towards the end, Bernie Woodal gives the “obligatory” commentary regarding how the U.S. Supreme Court “gave” the presidency to George Bush.

I read the law that was center of that fiasco, before it became a fiasco. It was clear, and allowed the Secretary of State to make the decision that she made. the law didn’t cover incompetency, with regards to managing election ballots.

They like to mention the U.S. Supreme Court’s action, but are not as enthusiastic about mentioning how the Florida court system appeared to be assisting Al Gore’s efforts to keep the recounts going. They clearly were exercising judicial activism. the US Supreme Court put an end to that.

I heard Broward County finally finished their recount and discovered Al Gore won.

AnotherPat

Good One, Ed!

Got another one for you. Hondo can relate.

LBJ stole an election in 1948 in Texas:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Box_13_scandal

There is another one that I discovered, but will not mention him, because there are others who thought he was a great President.

Sapper3307

Boom +250 now he can fix this global warming thing.
And New England is due for coldest thanksgiving in over a hundred years.

Devtun

Luckily ManBearPig didn’t carry his home State of Tennessee, or Flori-duh wouldn’t have mattered. IMO, Gore would have squeeked it out had he put Bubba on the campaign trail. Clinton is slime, but he had supreme political & campaign skills. Glad we’ll never know.

Tallywhagger

The Clintons had NO use for the Gore family… and I don’t blame them. Al-Gore is not one of the smartest guys you’re likely to run across in life. That being said, they managed to survive their un-woke exposure to the Clinton organization. That cannot be said for about 200 other souls.

Were it not for Michael Moore, Al-Gore would have very few peers.

NHSparky

Had Gore won ANY state in 2000 he had lost, it wouldn’t have mattered.

Including NH. IIRC, Bush won by ~5000 votes.

HMC Ret

I heard they discovered a box containing previously uncounted ballots that proved Dewey defeated Truman.

David

Actually I remember reading somewhere that the final Florida recount of all counties finally determined that Bush ‘stole’ nothing, he had a legitimate majority.

11B-Mailclerk

Yup. also, the pressies conducted a count as Gore wanted.

Bush still won.

A Proud Infidel®™️

Let’s not forget that the first thing Al Gore Junior’s lawers did was sue to disqualify tens of thousands of Military Absentee Ballots.

MSG Eric

Funny how often they want to dismiss or invalidate military votes. It’s almost like service members overwhelmingly vote for conservative candidates. Nah, that can’t be the reason.

Ex-PH2

Republicans won Florida? Well, that does explain why elections supervisor Brenda Snipes resigned.

This is a good thing. Diversity, you know… that sort of thing.

I was surprised at the high turnout in my area for the midterms. We’ll see how things go down in Springfield. I can see McMansions suddenly flooding the market if Pritzker gets his ‘tax to death’ law passed.

Some consider LBJ a bully and a thug. The following concerns his being awarded a Silver Star for what amounts to being a passenger on an airplane during WW2 that supposedly came under fire by Japanese Zeros. Research since that time, however, suggests it was bogus. Even if it were true, he was aboard only in the capacity of an observer. ‘Enjoy the trip, Johnson, here’s your Silver Star’. The following is from History News Network and is titled “LBJ’s Lies About His War Record”, 071801, written by HNN staff. “Johnson you’ll recall was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in the summer of 1942 by Douglas MacArthur. LBJ, then a member of Congress, had persuaded FDR to send him on an inspection tour of our forces in the Pacific. The trip had always seemed like a political stunt by a politician who wanted to burnish his credentials in anticipation of future campaigns for higher office. Johnson, who had been the first congressman after Pearl Harbor to sign up for active military duty, had agreed to fly as an observer on a single bombing mission over Lae, New Guinea. But before the plane could reach the target a generator went out, forcing the pilot to turn back home to base. “This much is agreed on. Where accounts differ is on what happened next. Johnson always claimed the plane came under enemy fire. His Silver Star citation says, “As our planes neared the target area, they were intercepted by eight hostile fighters.” A book published in 1964,The Mission, quotes two members of the crew who substantiated Johnson’s story, adding that the future president was “cool as ice” under fire. “But critics always suspected LBJ had inflated the danger he faced. Now there’s reason to believe they were right. The lone member of the crew still living, Bob Marshall, the gunner, insists the plane never came under fire that day.”No way,” Marshall told CNN.” No, that story was made up, put in there in my mind by the author of the book. ‘Cause we never seen Zero, was never attacked. Nothing.” I… Read more »

HMC Ret:

Thank You for sharing this about LBJ.

Read in the 1990s about his Silver Star in a book by Robert Caro (last name probably misspelled). He frequently wore a Silver Stat lapel pin on his suits.

Read alot of other things about him that were not positive, reference his real feelings on Civil Rights, the Great Society, JFK, Lady Bird and her Billboard poster campaign, ect.ect.

IMO, he would have never been re-elected to Office, let alone selected by the Democratic Party to run. He was riding on the coattails of an assasinated President when he was elected in 1964…

Never cared for him.

Mason

Wasn’t he only chosen by JFK to court the deep south vote since he was a New Englander Catholic?

11B-Mailclerk

Yup

26Limabeans

As a New England Catholic I concur.

Tallywhagger

I went to his funeral… Good God, what a dolt I have been; yet blessed to have lived long enough to repent.

John Birch was never a member of The John Birch Society–which BTW was founded in Massachusetts–but was also too liberal for my own preferences.

What a sad world we have that anyone ever thought that John Birch was other than a run of the mill centrist man.

Regrettably, LBJ was a bit of a dullard, even if a step or more above the Kennedys.

The Other Whitey

I remember reading something in a book a while back that mentioned an incident in which Johnson was aboard a B-17 that got lost over western Australia in 1942. As the navigator tried to fix their position, Johnson was anything but “cool as ice,” and started nervously pacing around the plane. The pilots soon got tired of compensating for the constant shifting of Johnson’s not-inconsequential weight to maintain trim. The radio operator, a 20-year-old Corporal, stopped Johnson, have a brief explanation of the problem, and instructed him to sit his ass down and stay put. Johnson tried to pull the “Don’t you know who I am?” card. The radioman replied with words to the effect of, “Yeah, you’re the asshole who’s gonna get thrown out the window if you don’t sit down and shut up.”

rgr769

And then the aircraft was shot up by a Japanese Zero; and afterwards Straphanger Johnson put himself in for a silver star. What is most amazing is the Navy gave it to him. Even when he was president, he wore that little Silver Star lapel pin. It was as if he did something other than sit in his seat quivering in fear. Where is my Silver Star? I watched the AK bullets come through the floor of my Huey right around my feet, and I actually was performing my duties, not staphanging.

rgr769

“straphanging,” dammit.

5th/77th FA

Yep, LBJ was a real piece of work, picked by the demon rats to lock in the “deep south”. Keep in mind, back then the deep south was yellow dog democrat country. “I’d vote for a yellow dog, as long as he’s a democrat.” A lot of Blacks in the south were republicans, even thru the FDR years. LBJ is reputed to have said, upon signing the 64/65 Civil Rights/Voting Rights Acts “We’ll have them (n word) voting democrat for 300 years.” This whole deep state thing is alive and well. IMHO we will never see the truth of the Kennedy murders, LBJ stayed in VN cause Macnamara needed a good little war for the economy, and LBJ & Family got rich off of it. It is also MHO that for the most part, the president is just a willing tool of the powers that be. That’s why they are (both parties) so scared of The Trumpster. He is not beholden to either side and, again IMO, a true patriotic American. YMMV Oh and ps to the besig; how can I get me one of them newfangled colored ribbons for my keyboard thingie. Calling a ribbon colored,,,is that raciss?

11B-Mailclerk

When I first went back to college after my enlistment was up, the local community college was on a paper recycling kick. They had big 50+ gallon bins with labels to sort paper

White

Colored

“Somebody” started putting up signs that said

“we shall overcome”

“Judge a paper by the content of the writing, not the color”

And similar snark and mis-quotes.

There was about a week where the snark stayed up, then suddenly all the bins were replaced, and no paper segregation on the new ones.

The Other Whitey

I think it was a different flight that he scammed the Silver Star out of. Hondo corrected me on that a while back. His aborted bombing run was apparently aboard a B-26.

Brenda “The ballots are in the building, The ballots are in the building” Snipes submitted her resignation.

Just hours after finishing a tumultuous election recount, Broward Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes submitted her resignation, ending a 15-year tenure full of botched elections, legal disputes and blistering criticism.

Quit before she was shitcanned.

Wow, it’s damned hard to find uglier that Brenda Snipes but sadly, they are out there. Many sitting in Congress and State Legislatures across our nation.

A Proud Infidel®™️

I have NO doubts about that at all!

Mason

She needs to be indicted. Grossly incompetent is only the beginning, she is willfully negligent if not outright crooked.

Why Florida is still such a hotbed of rampant voter fraud is beyond me. Nearly 20 years and they still can’t figure it out. Maybe DeSantis can straighten things out.

JTB

There is an active criminal investigation going on as I type…

Ex-PH2

Are you saying that Florida is WORSE than Cook County, where the dead vote early and often?

A Proud Infidel®™️

It looks like that right now BUT with a GOP Governor who is a Former USN SEAL at the helm, I’m sure there will be honest investigations resulting in trials and convictions, I like to think positively!

OldSoldier54

I no longer have any confidence in the election process. I suspect election fraud is fairly widespread.

Likely in Arizona and Montana, too … and let’s not forget Nevada.

Didn’t used to believe that the Deep State was real, either.

2/17 Air Cav

The notion that elections were once routinely fair and square is a false one. There have been shenanigans in more elections than we can count. The difference nowadays seems to be that the info-techno-commo age means we pretty much know about the bullshit goings on as they happen. That’s my take, anyway.

AW1Ed

Election fraud is as American as apple pie and cheating on your income taxes.

Mason

“Every vote counts!”

Sometimes two or three times. As many as it takes.

OldSoldier54

Can’t say I disagree …

They didn’t nickname him “Landslide Lyndon” for nothing.

Rep gov elect gave a real nice transition speech today in GA, graciously speaking of his dem rival. She came on next news segment whining like we have come to expect, promising lawsuits and more division. Played every card in her deck especially the F & R. Couldn’t understand she was rejected for the same reason wideloadmcpantssuitbitchofbenghazi was rejected. Had a trainload of soros money, endorsement from hitlery, oprah, oblowme, difi, maxiepad ad naseum. Still lost by 60 large plus.

A Proud Infidel®™️

Didn’t she have an Oprah endorsement as well? I too am glad to see all that Hollywierd and Soros money go to a complete waste!

5th/77th FA

yeah she did, listed oprah up there, small case. Somebody local had posted a in your book face thingie that broke down where all her money was coming from. Facebook scrubbed it real quick. Brother in AL told me about that one. The stuff I posted on was on the local broadcast news. We’re not done with her yet. Because of the massive amounts of free riders in the metro areas of GA, we are low hanging fruit in their eyes. Most of the decent working folks beat feet the hell out of the cities a while back. Now the cities are yuppy puppies and the free Army. She’ll be back with another pocket full of SJW money.

OWB

Can these Repubs now say that they have been elected to their new offices twice? They were elected the first time a couple of weeks ago, so was this their first reelection?

Mason

For the purposes of term limits, I’m sure the Democrats will make that argument. LOL

T1B

It’ Post like this that make me kinda miss ole Lars…he’d come on here, tell us all what REALLY happened, and then we could all point and laugh.

David

Had an ingrown toenail once, too. Same sentiments. Same worth.

zampolit seemed to relish being a combo scratching post and doormat.

A Proud Infidel®™️

I laughed at him at first, but I miss him as much as I do my last toothache.

HMC Ret

Speaking of toothaches, I have to choose a replacement insurance company for Delta Dental. The companies all pretty much offer the same %, so I’m thinking it’s mostly a matter of price. I learned that b/c I’m 100% and have received dental services from the VA, I’m not eligible for dental insurance through BENEFERS (sp ?). Don’t understand that … usually takes months to get services at the VA. Had a problem in August which will be taken care of within the next two months, December & January. I’m thankful for the service but talking with the dentists there, I learned that they are two dentists and five technicians down. They have one hygienist for thousands of eligible veterans. Thankful for the service. It’s a blessing.

I’m waiting for a knock-down, drag out fight to take place on the floor of one house of Congress or the other. It’s been a while. We need fistfights, floor brawls, and good old-fashioned whacks with canes. On February 15, 1798, Roger Griswold, a US House Representative from Connecticut, attacked Matthew Lyon on the floor of the House of Representatives. Griswold, a Federalist, walked up to Lyon’s desk hitting him about the head and shoulders with his hickory walking stick. Lyon, a Republican from Vermont, responded by grabbing a pair of fireplace tongs and beating Griswold back. A brawl ensued and the men threw fists before Congressional members pulled apart the two. A 1902 fist fight on the floor of U.S. Senate prompted the creation of the much debated Rule XIX that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell used Tuesday night to stop Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Liz Warren from attacking Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions. Warren had been reading a 1986 letter penned by Coretta Scott King that opposed Jeff Sessions’ nomination by President Reagan to become a federal judge. Sessions was a U.S. Attorney in Alabama at the time. By 1856, the chamber’s reputation for its rules of decorum could not stop a brutal beating of anti-slavery Massachusetts Republican Sen. Charles Sumner. Sumner was repeatedly caned into unconsciousness by South Carolina Democratic Rep. Preston Brooks during a debate over whether Kansas should be allowed into the Union as a slave state or a free state. The Senate floor became a fight arena again on February 22, 1902. South Carolina Democratic Sen. John McLaurin accused fellow South Carolinian and Democrat Ben Tillman, the senior member, of making “a willful, malicious, and deliberate lie.” Tillman turned around and punched McLaurin in the jaw. At that point a riot broke out on the floor as members attempted to separate the two southerners. Both men, as well as bystanders, were injured. Previously a political ally of Tillman, McLaurin strayed toward the Republicans who controlled Congress and the White House at the time. Tillman exploded at McLaurin when his colleague changed his position to favor Republicans… Read more »

Too bad they outlawed duels. Might make a good PPV; all proceed to go toward the national debt.

I have to ask…WHY hasn’t someone punched the following morons in the mouth? Schumer, Mad Maxie Pad, Peloosi, wine stain, boxer, etc etc

11B-Mailclerk

antifa much?

Probably because it is illegal to hit people simply because you do not like them.

rgr769

I have these and many others I would like to punch, but I refrain from doing so because the legal consequences are much worse than my dislike of them. I have an ex-son in law who would be taking a dirt nap were it not for those pesky criminal laws and that Commandment that says “Thou shalt not murder.”

Mr. Pete

Thank God

John Wright

LBJ was a damn coward. Hid in the back of a B-25 and hid in the back of a B707 post JFK killing. LBJ was a douche.

HMC Ret

Tell us how you REALLY feel, John. You happen to be right. Pure scum. Had Kennedy not needed a good ol’ boy from the South to shore up his weakness there, Johnson would never have been VP and then President. They despised each other. Kennedy would make him wait hours outside the Oval Office before seeing him, and often he would leave by another exit, letting his secretary tell Johnson to leave. Johnson paid back the Kennedy clan, though, making Bobby Kennedy wait hours outside the Oval Office when he, Johnson became President.

MSG Eric

When Democrats win an election it’s “Democracy in action! That election was 100% legit!”

When Republicans win an election it’s “there must be something wrong. They are suppressing voters! They are faking results! They corrupted the election! They won because racism! But ‘we’ won the popular vote that doesn’t matter!”

docduracoat

Now that the amendment to allow ex felons to vote passed, we can expect thousands more democrat votes.
All these races were close, the “felon vote” will put democrats over the top in future close races.
Criminals can also be expected to vote for gun control.
Cant have your victims armed. Thats bad for business!

3/10/MED/b

Wait! Didn’t go My way? Count them again! Still didn’t go my way? Count them again! DAMMIT, I’m still losing, Count them again! (ad infinitum…)

We in Flori-Duh were blessed that Gillum lost. He wanted to increase the sales tax to 20+%, implement a state income tax and a host of other ‘incentives’ to fill the state coffers so, as he said, he could expand social programs. Translation: I’ll ruin the middle class so I can give free shit to the ‘oppressed’. He is truly a piece of shit with active FBI investigations about his ‘alleged’ improprieties. He is still a darling of the DipShitCrats and may be a presidential candidate in 2020. He has great appeal and, of course, voting for him is a means of reparations for slavery. I guess voting for the person of color is supposed to make Whitey feel he has in some small measure made amends. Bullshit

rgr769
